Review for a Norwegian Fjords Cruise on Arcadia

I flew from Houston to London and arrived the day before the cruise. I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn in Heathrow and would highly recommend it. This was my first time on P&O Cruises. It mainly caters to British cruisers and many of the passengers I met have only cruised P&O. Their website states that their Elegant Nights are very formal. Many of the men wore tuxes, but some wore a jacket ...

P+O quality suffering

Chose Arcadia for a number of reasons - been on before, adults only + Fjords for 1st time. Few positives but many negatives. Positives ... We were in a balcony on Sun Deck which, according to deck plan, had a solid wall going aft and nothing above us. Wrong! The wall had 2 fire exit doors which were latchable from the inside and Sun beds above us that were usually laid out @ 7:17am on a ...

P&O service gone downhill.

I have cruised with P&O several times in the past and have always recommended them above the likes of Royal Caribbean because the service has traditionally been so much better. Not this time. It may well have been that particular ship, the Arcadia, but had that of been my first cruise with P&O I would be in no hurry to go back. There was sickness on board (Norovirus) that was very badly ...

Having never been away for Xmas we, and another couple, booked this 10 day cruise on a ship we have travelled the World on. Never again. From leaks on every deck, toilets that didn’t work, cutbacks in every department and missing 2nd day in Amsterdam and not calling into Zeebruge….it was awful. 24/10 piped Xmas music on a loop so loud you couldn’t hear yourself speak in some place. Pitiful ...

Oh P&O - how the mighty have fallen

We are veteran cruisers and first sailed on P&O Arcadia in her maiden year of 2005. This was our fifth cruise on her. Oh dear: I really hate to be the one to say it, but P&O are a shadow of their former selves. Their standards have not so much dropped as plummeted. While the positives, on the whole, outweighed the negatives, we did find a couple of issues to be more than a little ...

Disappointing Christmas Cruise

The Arcadia is an old ship and it is starting to show. Leaky roofs and blocked toilets, stained carpets and scuffed creaky lifts. We found this Christmas cruise very underwhelming and thought there would be more activities and guest speakers. Our balcony cabin was kept reasonably clean by the steward, but I have had better standards on other lines. The food in the main dining room was monotonous. ...

No Northern Lights, not much light at all.

O.K. so if you opt for a cruise to Northern Norway at the end of November you've got to expect that the weather might be problematic and it was! This was not a great cruise experience and unfortunately this was not entirely due to the various storms and gales that we sailed through. To warn future searchers for the Northern Lights you should research the itinerary carefully. Technically we were ...

Our first time with P +O, having previously sailed with Holland America, Oceana, Regent. We costtravelled with 2 friends who had been on 3 previous cruises with P+O. Our expectations were not high but our friends made the trip most enjoyable. We had an outside balcony cabin which was clean but very outdated. The whole ship was tired and needs a complete refit to bring it up to date. ...

Have travelled with P & O several times and although there have been issues, we have returned as they do represent good value for money, up until now that is. 16 day Baltic Cruise on Arcadia, first time on this ship and tips now included. BIG MISTAKE!! Ship was tired, maintenance work forever going on around the deck, why do we pay for a holiday to have this, should be in dock to get it done. ...

This was a special holiday for us – my mum was 80 last year and always wanted to visit St Petersburg, but she won’t fly – so a Baltic cruise we thought would be ideal. This was our second cruise we had wanted to book the cruise to the Baltics last year but had left it late to book, as there was 3 of us and we couldn’t get a deal for a cabin for 3. Last year we went on a short cruise (6 days) with ...
