This was our third time on AMA and the best cruise we have had with them. The crew was friendly and attentive to our every need. The cabin was standard but adequate for our clothing and normal traveling requirements. Thankfully the draft on this vessel allowed us to go all the way on the Danube with the low water levels. We heard of several other ships that had to stop and bus their passengers. Ornulf was a knowledgeable, personable and fun person who was our cruise director including the pre stay in Budapest and the post stay in Prague. Adrian was the chef and provided excellent food for us. We rate it the best we have had in all our River and large ship cruises. David was the hotel manager and although new to AMA, he was very social and had all the groups humming along at peak efficiency. He was having his first performance review while we were sailing and hopefully he got the excellent rating that he deserves. We understand that next year this ship will be doing the new Bordeaux itinerary. I am not sure how much of the crew will go with the ship. Read Less

This holiday started in Berlin and concluded in Amsterdam. My wife and I joined the AmaBella in Budapest after 7 days in Berlin and Prague (bus trip with APT as part of the 21 day tour). We had a cabin on Deck 3 which was a good size and included a double bed, 2 chairs in the inside balcony + 2 chairs and small table on outside balcony. Bathroom was a little narrow but the shower and facilities were excellent. Cupboard space excellent. Laundry service was excellent. Food faultless for a river cruise catering for 161 people. Crew were always happy, helpful and experienced in meeting our every need. Cruise Director was very competent and helpful, organising things with care and precision and keeping us well informed. We really benefited from her experience. Shore excursions were interesting, especially the APT exclusives, Vienna Concert, Linz to Salsburg APT Train Journey and the visit to Namedy Castle on Day 18. Boarding and disembarkation were well orgainised and handled with care. This was our third European river cruise, the previous two were on Avalon Cruises. Read Less

This was our second cruise with AmaWaterways. The food was outstanding, the ship was immaculate, all staff ( for example: the maintenance man, chamber maids, waiters, guides) were friendly, efficient and helpful. The excursions were very well organised with some excellent guides, although one or two were rather verbose. Another day in Vienna would have improved the experience but overall excellent. We will cruise with AMaWaterways again! Read Less

We have just completed an APT 8 day enchanting Rhine cruise and it was very ordinary from and activity and tour perspective, the ship, crew, food and cabins were all excellent however the cruising and on shore activities were badly organised and managed. Don't believe all of the marketing materials on these cruises as you only have about 2 days of good cruising and the rest is industrial and farm land in a very busy shipping channels, also the age group of most people is 60 plus. The on shore guided tours are poor as you are cattle in and onslaught of every ship arriving at the same time and there are many of them and lots of poor guides. If you have mobility issues I would say don't do it as it can be very tough and no one will look after you if you haven't got some good travellers with you. Our trip of a life time was destroyed by this cruise and I would hate it to happen to anyone else so please research carefully before investing. Read Less

We have travelled from Budapest to Amsterdam in September 2014. Prior to this we had a 12 day coach through the Balkans also with APT. The whole trip was wonderful. The ship was very comfortable, enough space and very clean. The staff on the ship was outstanding, they knew all our names on day one (including favourite drinks). The whole trip was great but the highlight was the food and the excursions (the choices). The food was from all the areas we were passing through, every region's delicacies, cakes, wine. I can not find the words to describe how good it was. Felt absolutely spoiled. My partner has never been to Europe before and he is now hooked, wanting to go for another cruise. All the excursions were great, the tour guides were full of interesting information and sometimes very funny. The only hiccup on the trip was, everyone on the ship was coughing by day two. Towards the end there was a doctor called and he was just giving people antibiotics, charging 150 euros. Yes, the insurance will cover this, but did not feel right. I had an issue with my ear, doctor did not help, sent me to a clinic nearby (where they could not help either) and still charged me. Thankfully, next day the tour manager arranged an appointment with a doctor in Amsterdam. They were great and very helpful. So this did not ruin my trip, just did not see much of Amsterdam. All in all, I highly recommend the river cruise. The coach tour was also fantastic. Read Less
