Departure Day minus one: Packed – one huge ( approx. 23Kg) case, plus 2 small wheelie hand luggage cases Sunday October 15 - Day 1 Up at 6.25am. Taxi to Heathrow arrived 7.25. Driver ignored the warning gantries about probs on the M4.....so we sat for 20 mins thereon. Driver very stressed – “anxiety makes me nauseous.” Arrived terminal 5 at pam. Checked. Decided not to buy Hungarian ...

This has been on our bucket list for some time. It was very enjoyable with a good mix of relaxation and activity. Some of the APT specials are not to be missed - the Grand Imperatore train (albeit some of the air con failed on a very hot day) and the Vienna Concert in the Lichtenstein Palace. Food was always excellent with many choices and the staff very willing to keep you pleased with a ...

Ship shabby and tired albeit staff excellent. Entertainment on board low class. Overall cabins noisy. When perusing details prior were never advised deck would be unavailable for substantial period of cruise due to locks. Majority of trip had bad smell in corridors and cabins. Value for money rate 4/5 out of 10. Majestic train trip uncomfortable due to heat and not explained re food and ...

My wife & I had discussed going on a European river cruise off & on over the previous two years. APT were offering return airfares cheap when we passed a travel agent. So in we went & booked. The cruise was wonderful. Travelling from Australia to Amsterdam then London to Australia were not. We arrived at Amsterdam in a Airbus A380 as another Airbus A380 arrived on a parallel runway. So it took a ...

The short cruise appealed to us, since it was first river cruise and we saw cities and places we had not been before (maybe 50 yrs ago) The crew was mostly Bulgarian and Rumania and Hungarian and spoke excellent english and were very attentive to every need. The excursions were done well w drivers explaining the cities w history etc. The cruise director Rachel Couto (or whatever the title ...

It was a 50th wedding anniversary celebration for my husband' parents, they had always wanted to do a European River cruise. We could not have been happier with the service provided by APT and the crew aboard the AmaReina. Prior to departure APt were a breeze to deal with, and we were able to purchase drastically discounted Business Class fares because of the cabins we booked. The travel ...

I am a first time poster and I owe a great deal of gratitude to those who have posted before me. We, two well travelled couples, joined the APT cruise on the AmaBella after a stint in Madrid, Cordoba and Barcelona. We travelled with good friends, which contributed greatly to our enjoyment. We left Australia on 17th of October and after our stay in Spain made our own way to the AmaBella on the ...

Expectations too high?

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on AmaReina (APT)

The first 8 days were changed to the AmaVenita because of low water levels around Nurenburg...and changed to the Ama Reina for the last half of the trip....no problem there. Day one...we entered our cabin 204, Catagory T+ which gave us an outdoor balcony plus a French Balcony. Very nice, except that another ship was moored right along side us. so - no view except of a neighbouring cabin about 10cm ...

Trains and boats and planes ... but no cricket!

CRICKET was not exactly top of the agenda on APT’s “Magnificent Tour of Europe” river cruise from July 28 to August 11. From a passenger list of 150, more than a hundred were Australians and their heroes were getting bashed unmercifully by the Poms at Trent Bridge and Edgbaston. Another thirty were New Zealanders, who nodded in complete approval, and the rest the were British who knew when ...

My husband and I just returned from a Xmas Market cruise on the Rhine River on the AMAReina. It was our first river cruise after 20 ocean liner cruises (the last one - Celebrity from Venice to Barcelona). We loved everything about the cruise, AMA and the ship. It was a wonderful time. The Cruise Manager John Riley was thorough, accessible and witty, handling all of our needs with follow-through ...
