MSC were well priced and fitted in with the area we wanted to visit at the times we wanted to visit. The destinations were all fantastic and, without young children, this cruise would have been good... Problem is.....the kids club timetables aren't really co-operative with the already limited time on the destinations... IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN, AND WANT TO USE THE KIDS CLUB, ENSURE YOU BOOK MSC'S OWN EXCURSIONS TO TAKE FULL ADVANTAGE OF KIDS CLUB they refused to let us pay extra to drop our children in early :-( we've two young children and were quite stressed when we discovered that kids club, most days won't take kids to lunch, most days start an hour or two AFTER the boat hits a destination most days finish a good time BEFORE the boat leaves a destination this hit us particularly hard at Dubrovnik and santorini where we only had 4-5 hours on-site, santorini in particular where we had to cut a private tour short Overall, the staff really were amazing, our cabin guy was superb, friendly, attentive and the children loved him. the downstairs 'my choice' restaurant was great. the buffet, not really that good we felt a little dissapointed overall, unloading of over 2000 passengers was quite a slow process there aren't any laundries on-board - though they do offer a 30 euro for 20 garments about halfway into the cruise... Lifts were 'naff' - extremely slow, or buttons missing / not working Boat is old, but well maintained top deck is very good, lots of pool space, great kids splash park but get up early to reserve a sun-lounger, and be prepared to fight to get your 'stolen' space back, they really should have a 'kids only' side to the pools as both shallow parts were jam packed with adults grumbling at kids having splashy fun! boat felt very crowded....it's a small-mid sized boat of 2,100 guests, but queue times for a table at brekky were 30min+ at peak.....the staff were fairly attentive though, just a shame to see so many people pushing in Part of the dissapointment was culture I guess, we certainly won't be using Italy as a starting point again, as there's minimal respect for personal space or queues, often resulting in a squashed child Would I use MSC Again - after hearing a few stories about their other larger boats, sure, they do sound great, would I go on a small boat like this again?, nope, too many people, too short a time at the destinations and too long to get on/off the boat Read Less

The cruise schedule only mention one day at sea, instead they are two. The schedule mentions 2 days at Mykonos and that a great lie. The Santorini visit is just 4 hours in the morning and then the ship moves to Mykonos from 8:00pm to 3:00am, then spend a second day at sea in a ship that the only entertainment is a verity small casino, a antique small pool. Just 4 bartenders for Deck 11 ( pool and sun deck) for all the passengers, spect 20 minutes for a beer or drink. The Buffet food quality is the same as Golden Corral but cold. The restaurant serves the same as the buffet but in small quantity. Food quality is the worst compare to: Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, Carnival... The food and beverage personal doesn’t care about the customers that’s do the minimum required. Expect all excursion to start 1 hour late, so you will get less for your money. Final recommendation spend your money on any othe cruise line. This was a 12 member family vacation, as a gift From the Grandfather and was extremely disappointed. Read Less

Firstly the itinerary was excellent - including Suez Canal, Dead Sea, Seychelles, Mauritius and the highlight for me Petra, however Seychelles and Mauritius were marred by engine trouble which left only a few hours in each port, such a long way to go for such a short time. We found the excursion prices quite reasonable (may be other writers' have not been on Cunard and seen their prices). We always use the cruise excursions for the security of if we are late back its MSC's problem, not ours. On a couple of occasions the ship was late sailing due to late returning passengers. Organisation of the disembarkation for excursions was hap hazard, there was even talk of scuffles between passengers where not enough transport was available in Seychelles. The food on the ship was at best poor both in quality and presentation. There was only one meal where we thought 'wow this is good' other than that it was no where near our expectations for an Italian ship. MSC chefs must be trained in how to make high sugar content deserts so bland, even the tiny portions of jelly had colour but no flavour. Mice would have died of starvation if they had to live off the pathetic portions provided on the cheese board at the evening meal! Service was variable, many of the staff needed more training in their duties. Cabin service was good. We had one of the smaller cabins which had a balcony. Not overly generous in space but adequate. There was always a substantial queue at the Guest Services so there were many unhappy customers. I heard plenty of people with issues such as wrong bed layout, fittings not working and one very, very, angry American but in the most the complaints seemed to fall on deaf ears at the Customer Service. We took advantage of the Internet and laundry packages available to book before the cruise - warning these are not available within 4 days(?) of departure or on the ship itself. Internet was barely usable at times, even near populated areas. The guest speakers were the worst we have ever experienced though the Cruise Director Stephen was by far the best Director on any cruise we have been on. His lectures on how scams worked were an eye opener. Moring Bridge lessons for beginners were very good. Boarding at Venice would have been a joke if it were not so serious, we arrived at the terminal (long walk from water taxi) at about 12:30 and were left in an overcrowded, hot, terminal building and only got on board towards 17:00. By the time we dropped our bags and freshened up we missed the first sitting and the staff were exceptionally unsympathetic to our plight. No explanations or apologies were offered. In summary it would take a lot to persuade us to travel with MSC again. Read Less

i am happy with the result. in fact, I am going to repeat in one week but this time i will try in Central America. The staff was correct, not nice not unfriendly and the animation team was also good. I didnt like the dance teacher, she was believed, rude and unfriendly with some guests and she laught when someone couldn´t follow the dance class. We weren´t dancer, we just wanted to spend some funny days!! the room was perfect and clean at the first view but we found one tshirt and shoe under the bed and I promise it didn´t belong to us. We paid for all inclusive but we have to pay for juices, ice creams and creppes. I think that if you offer all inclusive service, it should have all the drink and food from the cruise. I am very displease with the excursions and all transfer. The price was really expensive and we paid 4 mor times from de boat in Mikonos just for buying inside de cruise. I think you could give more information about the ports, the transfers and in general, about what we have to do. In my opinion, you should think that nobody knows nothing about how to move in a cruise so all people need information and organization. I also can´t understand why we had to pay for one picture that we couldn´t choose and the staff decided to left in our room. In general I happy with MSC, the experience was differente that I though but it was correct. Read Less

We chose this cruise because it was one of the destinations we hadn't been to plus we always go away at christmas and my birthday being on the 27th. The embarkation and the disembarkation was very well organised. The cabin and shower room were very small.People were smoking on the next door balcony and we ended up with their nub ends. The entertainment was good, the service was good but the evening meal time was a bit slow because the waiter was doing everything. He was running around like a headless chicken. On the evenings where it was smart dress code (there were 2) well there wasn't that many that were smartly dressed unless you call jeans and trainers as smart these days. It has been the worst cruise we have ever been on.We couldnt get off the ship at any of the islands (there were 3) because we didnt have visas. We specifically looked on web sites before our cruise to see if we needed them and Mozambique was not listed and to make sure we also rang the travel agents who we booked with and they said we didn't need one.So this was an ongoing argument all week with the immigration officer.Something you don't need when on a supposedly relaxing cruise. We stayed on the ship for the duration of the holiday. For us it just seemed like we had got on the wrong train and we couldnt get off until the end of the line, which for us was Durban a week later.
