We did a tour package with 6 days on land, Fairbanks, Denali Lodge, and McKinley Lodge before and everything was so well organized. your bags in your room when you arrive at the lodges with no check ins. The cruise went very well, too, wonderful narration of the glacier passes that you could hear in your room or on deck. The ship is very good, except lacking the international café for 24 hour ...
I was a little concerned after reading recent reviews of Island Princess, but in reality everything was great. We were among the first to board, having taken the train from Anchorage. For a couple of hours, it was like we had the ship to ourselves. We went straight to our cabins and settled in. I had an aft balcony (B741), which was wonderful, especially when we were leaving port. The bed was ...
It was a last-minute decision to come on this cruise - we booked two weeks before departure (so GREAT rate!! Honestly we paid $100 a day each for this cruise - where else can you get housing AND three meals a day for that? not even at home based on where we live, ha ha ha). I therefore didn't do much research at all other than looking at dates and prices - this was the best value so I went with ...
I chose an Alaskan cruise because I am an outdoors type of person and wanted to see the sights before climate change and such make a lot of it disappear. Princess cruise did not disappoint! The Island Princess was beautiful, clean and had many nooks and crannies to get away to, read a book or sip a drink quietly as well as constant live music in the Atrium. You could be as busy or as lazy as you ...
This is our 4th cruise with princess so I can compare our experience to the previous cruises.
We started this cruise from Vancouver going to Alaska for 7 days. In general all the princess ships are the same design so it was easy for us to get around the ship. We had a very nice cabin, very clean with a nice balcony. So as far as the cabin is concern I would rate it 4 stars. But no ...
We were on the Island Princess starting on 6/6/2018. We started in whittier and ended in Vancouver. We also did 5 days of the land tour which was absolutely terrific. We had wonderful weather except for Skagway and part of the morning in Vancouver. We had such wonderful views of Denali and have some great photos to show off to everyone. I, unfortunately, took most of my pictures from my phone ...
This was our very first cruise - and we were never that interested in cruising, but friends who have cruised Alaska said it was a "must do". They were correct! We did the 3 day land portion through McKinley/Denali, then took the fabulous train from Denali to Whittier to board the Island Princess. The views were all so spectacular and breathtaking. We saw much wildlife - moose, bears, caribou, ...
Never do Princess again. They made a mistake and overcharged us and said we would get an on board credit which I was ok with but it never happened. Ship staff could not help. When we got home Princess apologized and gave us a $100 credit toward another cruise.
Entertainment was inconsistent as were the meals. The New Orleans restaurant that we paid extra for was very disappointing. It was a ...
We are also not used to paying gratuities, as is standard on a cruise, as we like to tip the people that gave us good service. Reading the small print of all the paperwork that Princess send out, when we got on the ship at Anchorage and before we left, we went to the Customer Service desk and opted out of the 'gratuities' option. You cannot do this after sailing.
We didn't bring anything for ...
chose this cruise as it was on my bucket list, we did the land sea package, found we where really well looked after, both on shore and on ship it was a smaller ship then i was used to, but the service was still the same as on the larger ships, ( excellent) there were the pools, the adult only section gym spa, and all the staff. where very accommadating. there is always going to some food that ...
