Had the time of my life. Great Ship and polite crew. Went Club Class. Food was great and the scenery in the Fjords was breath taking. One small not so minor thing was the "at sea internet". It only worked about 10 percent of the time with a connection speed of 25K. Dial up would have been faster. I brought this to the attention at the main desk and it was a wast of time. I had to wait until we got into port to roam on shore side cell connections and ended up running up a 1200.00 bill to get my business done. Now, the Trip up on the Island Princess was without fault. Everything was perfect. Customs waits were excessive. DO NOT bring more luggage than You need. You'll be sorry. The internet connections were lightning fast and reliable. We booked a back to back cruise with Princess and coordinating between the two cruises was a disaster. It was if there was two different cruise lines. Princess needs to work on that. Read Less

Alaska is a great destination for sure. Our family had a great time during our vacation - we took both the land trip and the cruise. The destinations and the ports are all awesome! We have made some great memories. During the land trip, the train ride is great. Also during the cruise the glacier bay experience was breathtaking The cruise itself was 'meh'. If you have a young family, like we did, it was not fun while you are on the ship. The activities for the kids is lacking as compared to other cruise lines that I have taken. While the production shows was good, the other things were not as great. Towards the latter part of the cruise, we actually stopped going to the actives and spent time doing our own things. The food is good. Note the timings though. Some of the wait staff were really nice and went above and beyond. Take a few shore excursions to enjoy the natural beauty. We took a few and it was worthwhile. Bottomline, loved the vacation/destination. But not the cruise experience. Read Less

Book with Princess because I thought Princess was a step up from Carnival and they'd been cruising Alaska for 50 years. Plus I wanted to get close to Hubbard Glacier and the glaciers in Glacier Bay. Coral Princess is old and parts of it feels dated. Our Cabin had plenty of space and storage and a nice balcony. Our cabin Steward was great. The food was not impressive, but at least I wasn't tempted to overeat and didn't gain an ounce on my trip. The entertainment just kept repeating itself. There were a few good acts, but all the performers were the same people every evening just rotated them around the ship. I thought they'd bring on some Alaskan locals, but didn't. We did a Cruise-Tour with the land portion first; and referred the land portion over the cruise portion. The excursions we booked were all great fun. Scenery was good, too. Read Less

Wanted the land tour along with our repeat of the cruise portion from years before. Found the accommodations at the Princess Cruise lodges in Denali, Fairbanks and McKinley somewhat primitive, but certainly adequate. The one night in Anchorage was at the Captain Cook Hotel and found the facility and of superior quality. A great 5 stars for them. We recommend that in the Princess Hotels that room refrigerators and safes should have been part of the lodgings and would have been greatly appreciated. The food at the 3 Princess Lodges was very expensive and not good. We expected the expensive part. The paddle boat tour included in Fairbanks was wonderful and remined us of a Disney tour. The included lunch was very good. The tour in Denali Park was also top notch and greatly appreciated. It has been a few years since we cruised with Princess and were disappointed in what we thought to be a slide backwards in quality. We attributed it to its acquisition by the Carnival Cruise line. We were use to Celebrity and Princess was a let down from what we experienced in the past. We were on the beverage package and were surprised there were no sommeliers. The included wines had only one wine on each of the red or white wine categories. The wines on the red side were largely undrinkable with only the red blend as tolerable. Of course when they quickly ran out of the red blend they were quick to try to talk us into paying for a higher priced substitute. In Celebrity the substitute would have been offered at no additional cost. The wines are not poured in front of you but provided pre poured. We could only tell the wines were bad after we had a full glass of wine. The wines were always served in small dinky glasses that were not designed to let the wine breath. All complaints to the dining staff were for the most part ignored. I had to to go the beverage director via the front desk as the Assistant Maître de refused to identify management staff. Overall, we felt we were on a third class ship. The activities onboard were the usual including trivia. The entertainment was of the standard variety, some we felt was not worth attending. The cabin attendant did an excellent job. The food on board, even in the dining room was average to poor. The buffet food was cold and lacked variety. Read Less

Always wanted to see Alaska. Did a land tour first and got to see Denali (McKinley) 3 times in full sun. Put us in the 1% of visitors that did. Ship needs a full refinish for leaks, linens that were close to threadbare, deck flooring, buffet room and so on. The cabin staff was ok. Couldn’t get hot water in shower and when we asked our cabin steward about it he said he would check it out but he never got back to us. Had to go to Customef Service desk for help and it was a very quick fix. Our travel agent gave us a free dinner in “Bayou” restaurant and we weren’t Hppy with service. Waiter hard to understand and was rude when we had to ask for better help. I was very disappointed as it was the 2nd time sailing this ship. I’ve loved cruising but not sure we’ll sale Princess again. Read Less

Land portion very well done. David Barger, tour director, was exceptional and always available and friendly. From the landing in Fairbanks till David departed our tour in Anchorage he was always available and more then willing to assist with any problems, questions and to impart knowledge of Alaska. He seemed to loves his job and it showed. There were pre-scheduled tours that gave us a true picture of Alaskan life. Hotels were top-shelf and tours were well planned and memorable. Tour Bus operators were friendly and safe. Cruise portion was sedate and calm, not festive (maybe intentional). Clean well organized staff and friendly but not overly friendly cruise staff. Dining was less than average. Staff stiff and going through the motions. the food choices seemed limited and what the chef wanted to make not the guests preferences. The time in port was not enough, would have liked more time. Overall a great cruise and one that I can take off my bucket-list. Read Less
