The best thing is that the weather held up the whole time we were there and there was no rain and the temperature was quite comfortable, which I understand is not the norm in those countries. Family cruise to visit relatives in Oslo. Great ports with lots of activities in small cities which made for a real flavour of Norwegian life. Lots of time in each port to see and do what we wanted. We booked this cruise to see the Northern Lights. We did see the lights several times. Unfortunately our cruise was cut short due to losing engine power in the middle of a storm. We were evacuated by helicopter. We had been on a Viking River Cruise the previous year and were so impressed with that experience, we thought we’d try an ocean cruise with Viking. Best decision ever!

Our cruise this year on the Viking Sun was our 2nd cruise on the ocean, the 1st being with Holland America to Alaska, and I can say that the Viking Sun was smaller and more intimate than the SS Zaandam.
