It afford us the opportunity to see many cities on Europe's rivers. The cruise overall was fun, interesting and diverse. I wish Viking would have more opportunities to explore cities on our own. It seemed the only way to get to cities was to take an excursion. Wish there were shuttles to leave the ship just to go into town. If you did not do an excursion, you were stuck on the ship. Viking ...
For lots of reasons we booked this Grand European Tour for mid October. We had a great time, but decided we probably won't do another river cruise right away, maybe not ever again. Not a knock on Viking, but a better understanding of who we are as travelers. So, the good and great. Incredibly clean, inviting atmosphere populated with helpful, gracious people, all of whom try to make your trip ...
We had talked with friends and casual aquaintances about a river cruise and were recommended to take this one. We decided that Viking provided what we were looking for. We enjoyed the overall experience on the ship with the exception that my credit card was compromised and I believe it happened onboard. The ship was excellent in terms of cleanliness, cabin appurtenances, room size, wifi, etc. ...
We picked this cruise (Amsterdam to Budapest) because we felt we should take a longer cruise if we're going to fly all the way from the West Coast to Europe. It's beautiful ship, the cabin was wonderful (perhaps my favorite of any cruise we've been on), and the service was outstanding. Our only complaint was the dinner. First, we would prefer an earlier dining time. Beyond that, it sometimes ...
This was the Tulips and Windmills Cruise, our second with Viking. Choose this cruise to see Tulips and sites in The Netherlands/Belgium. This is not a cruise with great views from ship. FYI our group of six was 55-65, the younger end of spectrum for this cruise.
Some observations about Viking and this cruise:
* As with previous Viking cruise the staff was excellent, from the cruise ...
I wanted to see the tulips in bloom on mass.Haven"t been to the Netherlands in many years wanted to see the changes. Was disappointed that we could"t see Ann Frank"s house and museum. The ship was not able to get tickets . I was slightly annoyed with the answer,we were told not everyone wanted to see that. That is a major attraction for Amsterdam,so many people wanted to see it. It should ...
Great food. Nice that there was always some standard, right side of the menu items. Nice that there were two options of where to dine. Only bad meal was the celebration night, everybody scrambled for seats and buffet at same time. Buffet worked great at breakfast and lunch since is was over an extended time. Service excellent and staff very attentive.
Excursions were good mostly, except ...
Very comfortable cabin with faultless service. Staff enjoyed what they did and it showed with unexpected extras. Changing ships because of low water is certainly not the fault of Viking and they would very much wished it didn't have to happen. The cruise director made it sound like the low water thing was just happening when we all know it has happened for many cruises this year. Food was above ...
We were on the beautiful new long ship Magni on the Grand European Tour from Amsterdam to Budapest. This was our second Viking cruise so we had some expectations as to how fabulous our trip would be. We were traveling with friends who had not been on a cruise before.
We were met at the airport by the Viking staff as promised. They told us that the ship had electrical problems discovered during ...
