Prinsendam is going out of Holland America Service on July 1. I wondered if I should write these reviews, but since Veendam is taking over some of the Prinsendam itineraries in 2020 I’ve decided this might still help future cruisers. We chose this cruise because it had more stops around Iceland than any other and because it was on the Prinsendam, which I have always wanted to experience. We were not disappointed, quite the contrary. We sailed from Amsterdam. This was our second cruise with Holland America, and first on Prinsendam. We have also cruised with Azamara, Oceania, NCL, Windstar, Louis, Katarina and several river cruise operators. This cruise was 20 nights, starting and finishing in Amsterdam.

This was a 14-day cruise from Amsterdam to Amsterdam around the British Isles. The weather was iffy some days, but that's the UK.

Interesting destination, the polar ice cap balanced our cruise to Antarctica. Unusually good weather made for a nice cruise, with beautiful views of the Norwegian and Icelandic fjords...a lot of fjords. The Prinsendam is a great small ship, without the big crowds found on large liners. 670 of the 790 passengers (804 listed max) had sailed HAL before.

This was our 2nd Prinsendam cruise and we like a smaller ship like Prinsendam with 670 pax. Exterior cabin is comfortable with a walk in closet and a bathtub. Furniture shows some wear and tear but the bed is comfy, sheets are good quality and we were happy with the storage and the TV channels.

This was our 12th sailing on HAL, the second on the Prinsendam. We choose HAL because their ships tend to be smaller - the Prinsendam is the smallest in the fleet. The fleet is immaculately well maintained, always clean as a whistle, with a crew that always smile and greets every guest they encounter.
