Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Jewel of the Seas

We chose this cruise primarily because of the itinerary. We are not novice cruises, having done over 60 of them. The ship is older, but appears to be well maintained for the most part. Embarktation was slow, stood in line for over an hour before we boarded. We had a balcony cabin that was spacious and featured good storage. Most employees try very hard to please, but overall management is ...

A View of Europe thru a wine glass

As a student of viticulture, this cruise took me from one wine region to another with guided tours of wineries with several wine varietals. We even had a guest wine make on board who brought his own wines for us to taste. The beauty of our stops were magnificent. The highlight of the cruise was coming across an unplanned event, a Wine Festival in the beautiful town of Cochem Germany. We had ...

We decided to treat ourselves to a river cruise after years of watching advertisements on PBS. The Rhine Getaway provided a truly enchanting experience and provided an incredible snapshot of towns of western Germany. The changing scenery from the farmlands outside of Amsterdam to the post World War II regions around Cologne and finally the historic hill regions provided both recreational and ...

We have been cruising for nearly 30 years, with 60 ocean cruises on various lines, but primarily Celebrity. My sister liked her Viking river cruise so much that she suggested we try one. This cruise ranks at the top of all the cruises we have taken. From start to finish, Viking service was remarkable. We opted for a balcony room which was very nice. The ship had 185 passengers, which allowed ...

The ports were amazing, but the ship and food were not

I chose this cruise for the ports, especially Iceland. I could go on and on about the wonderful ports. My sister raved about Royal Caribbean so we thought we would try it. The coffee bar needs improvement, the servers were slow and they would punch your card twice if you asked for a medium coffee. The coffee was not not the best. The pastries were stale everyday, how is that possible? Only once ...

Terrific River Cruise - Amsterdam to Basel

AmaWaterways was recommended by our travel consultant. We enjoyed the cruise very much - there were only 43 passengers on this sailing so we all received fabulous personal attention and the staff was very professional but it was a more relaxed atmosphere for everyone. We took the pre-cruise extension in Amsterdam which we would recommend. We did not take the post-cruise extension as we were ...

Just returned from a 12 night British Isles trip and wanted to share my perspective in case it helps other travelers like me. I'm an intermediate cruiser- have done about 7 total, this was my 2nd with RC after sailing on Harmony when it was brand new about 5 years ago. I traveled with my spouse and 3 kids (age 5-12), and 6 additional adult family members. I'll always maintain that cruising is the ...

This was our third cruise with Viking and we couldn’t be more thrilled. Viking’s cruises are 5 star in my opinion. We have been spoiled by their service in all areas! The included excursions at each stop are excellent, however, we have enjoyed the optional excursions as well. The guides for each excursion are so knowledgeable in the area and we’ve always learned so much at each ...

While we were the youngest people on the ship (in our 30's) - we absolutely loved sailing the rhine river and experiencing different countries by unpacking once! we didn't have to think about what we were going to do at each port - great free excursions, and absolutely fantastic upgrade excursions. we did opt out of a handful of excursions to go explore on our own (i.e. Renting e-bikes on our ...

This cruise was top notch. There isn't one thing that we did not enjoy. The crew and staff were outstanding. They treated you with respect and remembered your names when they saw you. We arrived in Amsterdam in the late morning, met our friends on the deck and relaxed with some wine. There was a buffet lunch and then they offered a walking tour of Amsterdam which was interesting. After our tour we ...
