Limited pre-cruise contact by AQV. Outstanding history and scenery.

No pre-cruise contact by AQV. Booked 4/2023. Called early August to see if they were still cruising 9/3. Received boarding documents 2 weeks before cruise. That was all the pre-cruise information. Staff on board were terrific. Very friendly and helpful. River talks were highlight of cruise. Lots of information and good insights on Lewis & Clark, native Americans and history of the Columbia ...

Very good cruise EXCEPT first day!

We chose this cruise to see the Pacific Northwest. It was good, except for the nightmarish first day with no air conditioning and a toilet that did not work! UGH! We were moved (to a lesser room) and after that things were OK. The company offered no compensation for this awful experience. The company is still working things out with meals, excursions, but acceptable. The waiter spilled beer ...

Clarkston to Vancouver Washington on the Snake and Columbia Rivers

On September 10th my wife and I and 34 neighbors from our Del Webb community took the American Empress riverboat from Clarkston Washington to Vancouver Washington (not Canada). The costs were $9189 not including flights, gratuities or transfers. Although everyone had a great time as we were all friends prior to this trip, we were very disappointed that we completely missed the major scenic ...

Pleasant week on the Columbia River

Not our favorite cruise, yet, this week's expedition offered rest and beautiful country in Washington, Idaho, and Oregon. The staff bombarded us with picky details and scheduling, more than was necessary. The boat was noisy and the companionways too chilly. Not many places to retreat and read. Too small for lounge chairs. Food was well prepared—caesar salad, fruit compote, pork roast, ...

We have family in the Pacific Northwest and wanted to both see them and tour the region. We are in our seventies and found most of the passengers just around our age bracket. The boat is easy to both board and get around. The hotel accommodations before the cruise were quite good. Clean quiet room. The check-in procedure went well. The boat was close enough to the hotel that we could ...

Excursions mediocre for seasoned cruisers

The travel from Spokane and Embarkation process was very efficient. The stay at the Davenport hotel was the highlight of the trip. Cabins on board the Empress were adequate and the beds were comfortable. The cabins were clean, well appointed and good size for the length of the cruise. The staff onboard was attentive and engaging . The Hop on, hop off excursion process was efficient but really not ...

Mediocre, wouldn't recommend

Wanted to revisit the NW and felt that this was an excellent way to do it. The staff was pleasant and knowledgeable. The food was plentiful, but mediocre in quality. Music in the lounge was so loud that it intruded into our cabin and despite 3 requests to have the volume lowered, nothing was changed. We couldn't hear the TV and it was impossible to read with the loud music - and we were ...

Disappointing for several reasons

We have cruised extensively over the last decade, but this was the first time we cruised in US waters. My husband is mobility impaired and I was shocked to discover that nobody on board really seemed to notice and to try to assist my efforts to walk with him or to participate in excursions with him. On the ONE excursion we finally tried, although we were in the handicap seat at the front of the ...
