JOSEPH NEWMAN STONE HOUSE: This antebellum home in Natchez, MS was in the Stone Family for 140 years. Joseph Britton Stone now operates it as a musical tour venue, art gallery and bed and breakfast. As part of the tour, he entertains his guests on the 1903 Steinway parlor grand. After the tour and intimate concert he serves a local praline liqueur or champagne!

I am a musician so while others seek history on these cruises I have a special affinity for the music of the Lower Mississippi region. We choose the Melody because it is American Cruise Line's newest ship that just took to the river in August of this year! The food was great an there was plenty of it! The staff did everything in their power to see to everyone's needs. The crew is ...

Anticipating New Year's 2022 I didn't want to be the hostess of yet another New Year's Eve party with overnight guests at our house. This year, I WANTED TO BE SERVED AND ENTERTAINED!!!! What a wonderful decision it was to book a trip on the Lower Mississippi, aboard the beautiful new ship American Melody, and CRUISE IN STYLE into the New Year! It was comforting to know that ALL guests were ...

First of all, this new ship is amazing, the decor is sophisticated. I love the plants added to the upper sun deck area. This is my fifth ACL cruise. You won't find a friendlier group of passengers and crew. If you haven't taken the small ship experience you are missing out. You meet people from all over the US. The rooms are spacious with a full size bathroom. The food had been great. I am ...

My husband and I were thrilled to book one of the American Melody's first river cruises as it debuted on the Mississippi! It exceeded our expectations! The ship is beautifully appointed and when we relaxed on the 4th floor outside deck we could almost imagine we were on our own private yacht...with a staff to guest ratio of approximately 2 to 1 we were guaranteed to have phenomenal service! ...

New, comfortable ship, Great staff. Informative lectures, interesting excursions, and wonderful food. All inclusive makes each day easy to manage. Large stateroom, balcony large enough for two chairs and a table, walk in shower. Small lounge on each of the four floors for relaxation, card playing, puzzle working, computering (complete with printer). Quiet, swift elevator. All areas clean, and kept ...

We were the only passengers from New Orleans on the cruise up the Mississippi. Even though we had to get to Jackson MS instead of being picked up in New Orleans (hurricane Ida got there first) the trip was exceptional in all respects. American decided to make all excursions (except Graceland and one other) no cost a nice gesture given the mess in getting everyone to the boat. The 21 days it ...

Mississippi River Cruise from New Orleans to Vicksburg

There are few things I like to do more than travel, and cruises are my favorite way to go. Unfortunately, our seven day vacation (theoretically from New Orleans to Vicksburg Mississippi and back) was one of the most stressful, disappointing, and unpleasant cruises I have ever experienced. It wasn’t the ship…it was new and spacious, staff were hard at work trying to keep it clean, the food was ...

After a long travel hiatus due to COVID restrictions, we four retired teachers splurged on a Mississippi River cruise with #AmericanCruiseLines at a cost of $25,000. We were promised the opportunity to see plantations, military battle fields and historical sights between New Orleans and Vicksburg. What we got was two nights moored to a muddy beach on the Yazoo River near Vicksburg, unable to leave ...
