4 Hour Bus Ride

Review for a North America River Cruise on American Jazz

Check Before You Book. The Mississippi River is at all time lows. We understand that. A few days before our departure, we received an email saying that we would have to bus from Memphis to Vicksburg. That is a 4 hour ride. The bad thing is, the cruise line never offered to compensate for this. The food left a little to be desired but the dessert chef made up for that. The cruise was touted ...

Disapointing River Cruise

Review for a North America River Cruise on American Harmony

We have wanted to take the Snake and Columbia river cruise covering the area that Lewis and Clark traveled in the early 1800s. We sailed on the American Cruise Line Harmony which was very disappointing. The line was very disorganized and the staff very inexperienced. Tours were changed or eliminated without notice until the last minute. The trip was pricey and not worth the cost. We could ...

Specifically, the crew was an absolute five star cast of good, young people. Kelly Anne, Leilani, Deborah, Anna, Kylie, Marina, Wayne, Skarlet, Racheal, Trinity, Justin and Chris all made our trip enjoyable via their hospitality, smiles and work ethic. The boat itself is a 4.5 out of 5. The rooms were lovely and of a good size and having the balcony was really a nice feature. We took this ...

Down the Mississippi to New Orleans

Review for a North America River Cruise on American Splendor (formerly America)

Our earlier cruising experiences consisted of thirteen ocean cruises. We chose this cruise because flights were being cancelled, covid restrictions are iffy and we could drive to Memphis. We anticipated visiting antebellum plantations and having an opportunity to see civil war locations. The pre-cruise stay at the Guest House at Graceland was a very nice plus to our cruise. Our luggage was ...

Great crew, worst ship ever

Review for a North America River Cruise on American Star

User Avatar

The New England cruise on the American Star was an example of blatant false advertising. The website shows a new, modern ship with plenty of light and large staterooms and balconies. The American Star is a cross between a coastguard cutter and summer camp, outdated and broken down. Rust, dirt, broken chairs, outdated decor, stains on carpet - it is an embarrassment to the cruise line. Our door to ...

The cruise was overall adequate. We booked the owners suite. It was large but mostly empty space and not so grand furnishings. For the price we paid, $16,000 for both, it could have been much nicer. The crew was very friendly and helpful and onboard entertainment was interesting. The tours were excellent. If one likes to drink there was alcohol flowing, all included, for most of the day. ...

PRE-CRUISE -- This bucket list cruise was from Red Wing Minnesota to New Orleans, the entire Mississippi River. There was an included pre-cruise Hotel night at the St. Paul Hotel. The hotel was great! However, we were responsible for our own airline tickets and our transfer from the airport to the hotel. We each then had a Covid swab test prior to boarding the next day. The hotel concierge was ...

We'd been on ACL once before & knew it was mucho dinero, but wanted to do Memphis-Nashville Music Cruise. This is the 1st yr ACL has attempted this route, & omigosh, the timing needs improvement! The brochure isn't nearly clear enough that you hafta get there EARLY to see the music sites in either town. They offer Graceland pre-cruise ($$$), but no Sun Studio or Memphis Rock & Soul tours, etc. ...

Long time lurker, first time poster! We just returned from a cruise on Queen of the Mississippi ship (actually at the airport - flight delayed! Thank you American Airlines!) on the New Orleans to Memphis route. Overall it was an enjoyable cruise, but I will agree with some other comments I’ve seen on these boards that it seems the biggest struggle for ACL is having a crew that is trained and ...

We enjoyed enjoyed exploring the Columbia River Gorge. A riverboat is an excellent way to get to see this part of country. From other passengers that had been on American Cruise Lines I would hear consistently that they had good experiences on some of the companies other trips. However, anyone booking on this ship should be aware that this a very old and barely maintained boat. The boat is ...
