Reasonably Good Cruise until the Last Day.

Review for a U.S.A. Cruise on American Heritage (formerly Queen of the Mississippi)

We wanted to travel on the Mississippi and learn about the South and the Civil War. The cruise and the excursion were reasonably good. but the last day was a disaster. We docked in Tunica Mississippi which was 45 miles from downtown Memphis. We were not advised of this change in advance and had signed up for two bus tours to see Memphis and the museums. We spent over four hours total driving ...

I've always wanted to see the western Civil War Battlefields so for our 50th wedding anniversary we took the ACL Miss River cruise. We booked the most expensive cabin, the "owners suite" for $16,000. The cabin was large but mostly empty. They gave us wine everyday and sweet snacks in the afternoon and a bottle of champagne to celebrate our anniversary. The crew was great with several ...

The cruise was overall adequate. We booked the owners suite. It was large but mostly empty space and not so grand furnishings. For the price we paid, $16,000 for both, it could have been much nicer. The crew was very friendly and helpful and onboard entertainment was interesting. The tours were excellent. If one likes to drink there was alcohol flowing, all included, for most of the day. ...

Majestic Mississippi

Review for a U.S.A. Cruise on American Jazz

We chose American Cruise Lines because of the newer ship, American Jazz and amenities such as a fitness center, singles option, and larger state rooms. We were satisfied with the room, the seating areas, and general layout of the ship. The staff were generally accommodating. The quality of the food was hit and miss with some meals good and others passable. The manager of the dining room ...

Long time lurker, first time poster! We just returned from a cruise on Queen of the Mississippi ship (actually at the airport - flight delayed! Thank you American Airlines!) on the New Orleans to Memphis route. Overall it was an enjoyable cruise, but I will agree with some other comments I’ve seen on these boards that it seems the biggest struggle for ACL is having a crew that is trained and ...

Nice ship, amateur crew, expensive

Had never done a Mississippi cruise. Heard about ACL as a premium cruise. To make it concise - nice ship, nice cabin, mostly nice clientele, good small ship entertainment, good excursions, good food, good ports,, terrible dining service, terrible bar service, unusable internet, poor problem followup, and no one answers phone. On balance, you can find better cruise lines. I really tried ...

We had always wanted to do the Mississippi River, but thought it too expensive. We finally decided to do it as our 50th cruise. We started in New Orleans and ended in St.Louis. Our price included an overnight stay in New Orleans at the Intercontinental Hotel. We and all the other passengers were bused from the hotel to the boat. The boat is only 3 years old, but shows signs of needing a paint ...

We initially had chosen the cruise from New Orleans to Memphis on the new Harmony. We had already booked our flights as part of a 5 week trip when we were informed that the ship would not be ready in time. We basically had no choice but take this shorter cruise. I was disappointed with the quality of the cabin, no fridge, no bathrobe for when you want to sit on the balcony and the bed was too ...

My wife and I were on your Jazz and Blues Themed Cruise (May 11 - 18, 2019) on the America that went from New Orleans to Memphis. Unfortunately, this lower Mississippi River cruise was anything but the music-themed cruise that had been marketed. Here is a description of what this cruise was supposed to be from the ACL website: “Delight in the sounds of Jazz and Blues that fill the air as we ...

I almost didn't write this review as I feel that we were not the demographic that this cruise caters to and comparing it to our other cruises might be unfair. However, if we had known a few things upfront, we could have made a better decision or been more prepared for what we got. The boat: The boat is very cute. The rooms are adequate in size but furnished in a drab and cheap-looking ...
