Joseph Britton Stone now operates it as a musical tour venue, art gallery and bed and breakfast. As part of the tour, he entertains his guests on the 1903 Steinway parlor grand. Neither value nor luxury but still a good time

Review for America to North America River

My husband, myself, and my sister-in-law (all in our 50s) took this cruise by using a travel credit of my in-laws that was about to expire (and the cruise line made it very clear there were no extensions or any way to get thousands of dollars back). We made it into a good time, but if I were a true paying customer, I would really be scratching my head as to the cost and what you receive--neither a ...

Majestic Mississippi

We chose American Cruise Lines because of the newer ship, American Jazz and amenities such as a fitness center, singles option, and larger state rooms. We were satisfied with the room, the seating areas, and general layout of the ship. The staff were generally accommodating. The quality of the food was hit and miss with some meals good and others passable. The manager of the dining room ...

EVERYTHING about this cruise was great. The room was among the biggest and brightest we have ever experienced. We were pleasantly surprised at the courtesy and competence of the staff given the long layoff due to Covid. They performed as if nothing had changed and were always in good spirits. Housekeeping and turn-down service was very nice and unobtrusive. Food was excellent at both ...

First of all, this new ship is amazing, the decor is sophisticated. I love the plants added to the upper sun deck area. This is my fifth ACL cruise. You won't find a friendlier group of passengers and crew. If you haven't taken the small ship experience you are missing out. You meet people from all over the US. The rooms are spacious with a full size bathroom. The food had been great. I am ...

A Tremendous Disappointment !

We chose ACL's Lower Mississippi cruise from Memphis to New Orleans based upon a very good experience on an ACL Columbia and Snake Rivers cruise in 2019. Due to a scheduling glitch, ACL rebooked our cabin and cruise without informing us. Our travel agent was livid, and got us a significant cabin upgrade on a rescheduled cruise on one of ACL's newest ships, the American Jazz. Though the ship is ...

My husband and I were thrilled to book one of the American Melody's first river cruises as it debuted on the Mississippi! It exceeded our expectations! The ship is beautifully appointed and when we relaxed on the 4th floor outside deck we could almost imagine we were on our own private yacht...with a staff to guest ratio of approximately 2 to 1 we were guaranteed to have phenomenal service! ...

New, comfortable ship, Great staff. Informative lectures, interesting excursions, and wonderful food. All inclusive makes each day easy to manage. Large stateroom, balcony large enough for two chairs and a table, walk in shower. Small lounge on each of the four floors for relaxation, card playing, puzzle working, computering (complete with printer). Quiet, swift elevator. All areas clean, and kept ...

Beautiful, but a few problems

We did the lower Mississippi cruise in 2019, and loved it. We departed St Paul MN, bound for St Louis. The scenery was beautiful. The river towns were lovely, and most shore excursions were good also. However, from day one, housekeeping was poor. Towels were not replaced, housekeeping never answered their phone, and we were unable to leave a message. The room was clean, and we had all the ...

Poorly organized Snooze fest

This was a much anticipated get away since Covid had shut us down for previous travel. This cruise was VERY pricey, and unfortunately we didn’t receive anywhere near our value. To start with there are NO amenities on the ship, no pool, no shops, no incidental shops, nothing. You can only have a cocktail from 5:30pm-7pm and only beer/wine/or a basic drink. No specialty drinks, no blender ...

Best Cruise Ever

We were the only passengers from New Orleans on the cruise up the Mississippi. Even though we had to get to Jackson MS instead of being picked up in New Orleans (hurricane Ida got there first) the trip was exceptional in all respects. American decided to make all excursions (except Graceland and one other) no cost a nice gesture given the mess in getting everyone to the boat. The 21 days it ...
