Costly for a mediocre experience.

Would not recommend to others. Food and service only fair. Overall rating on scale of 1-10 would be seven (7).Cruise director attractive and friendly but inefficient. Made a number of mistakes for our group on excursion scheduling. Hotel director inexperienced as was the entire crew. Cabin service was ok but not great. On two occasions room was not made up until the afternoon and then only ...

An interesting niche but keep food service expectations low.

We, with two other couples who also were celebrating 55 years of marriage, were looking for a domestic, low key, intimate cruise. This well fit the bill although it was quite expensive relative to other luxury options......but we understood a small vessel simply had to be more expensive. The cruise met or exceeded many expectations, friendliness of staff, cleanliness and size of state rooms and ...

Bare bones cruising at best. Don't expect much service.

We heard about this line and saw a trip to New England and wanted to see small cities in Maine. Pre-cruise all went perfectly had a nice tour of Boston and boarding went off without a hitch. The expectation went downhill when we went to dinner and found out that most of the dining room help was new with not experience. Of 17 servers 10 were brand new and had just started with little or no ...

This was our 5th ACL Cruise so obviously, they are doing something right. That said....for the price and advertising as a luxury cruise, they should do so much better. The Constitution is a new and attractively decorated ship. Rooms are if adequate size for a mid range category. Bathrooms small and could have been better. Furnishings are cheaply made..I.e. drawers do not glide properly. No ...

Turn around time for the cruise is only 2 hours and not enough time to get the ship clean in between cruises. WiFi, only available if you stand next to the public router. Staff in the dining room, young and not well-trained. Choose different tables until you find a staff that has experience. Cruise Director and Social Director is very good. We found very nice younger passengers we ...

A Nice Small Cruise Ship (98 passengers) But OVERPRICED!

This was my first cruise on a small ship. The cruise itself was the 7 night New England Island Cruise. The ship was fine and the food was very good but that's a given. They offer a complementary happy hour each evening and complementary alcoholic beverages at lunch and dinner. This ship does not have stabilizers and one morning we spent 4 hours really rocking and rolling. Many passengers and ...

The food was fairly well done. We have been on a lot of European river cruises and the food was, I think a little better. Not too easy to get ice tea. I don't drink any more so no wine for me. The wine was the same low end brand all need guts, but o cannot comment on the quality. There seemed to be plenty of it. Captain could not have been more friendly as were the servers and the cabin girls. Good ...

Returned from a 6 night New England Island cruise that departed from Providence, RI to celebrate my 60th birthday. We went on a Star Clipper cruise a couple of years ago and realized we really like smaller ships. The Independence has a capacity of about 100, though there were about 74 on our cruise. We found the cruise caters to a much older crowd than what we were looking for. Our fellow ...

Saturday to Saturday continuous shall ship cruises during the summer along the villages and yacht harbors along Maine coast north of Portland. Good food and service, free wine at dinner and free cocktails in the lounge before dinner. Single setting, open diner seating and generally good fellowship among passengers. Cabins roomy and comfortable. Overall on-board ship ambiance was good and pleasant; ...

Not your typical cruise - and proud of it

First, we chose this cruise based on its destination and ports. We wanted to visit Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard, but did not want to drive in the local traffic. As avid cruisers, this looked like the perfect option. With that said, everyone else on this cruise seemed to choose this cruise based upon the cruising style - very small ship and crowd. The majority of our shipmates were 65-85 with no ...
