one of the stops in Cochem and a visit to the castle. Just amazing and a five minute walk back to the ship!

This cruise was a part of a school tour. Itinerary included several ports we have never been to, and it was on the Danube. The ship is new and in good condition. The service was excellent. We thought the food was probably some of the best we have had on a cruise ship. The portions were just the right size. The stops and tours were good. Enjoyed the bike tours that were included. The issue ...

Beautiful Boat, Horrible Food, Rude Service

Review for a Europe - Western Mediterranean Cruise on Amadeus Queen

The Queen is lovely, but the food and service is very low. Examples: The purser has no one and two dollar Euros for you to pay guides with. They had 30 cents, Euro, for the entire boat and would not ever tell you if they would be getting more. The check in people are rude, even a bid mean, and love to tell you no to even the simplest request. Most of the help is from Romania, but it felt very old ...

Tired ship

Chose this ship because it was chartered by a classical music station. Plastic flowers in the hallways and in our cabin. If you can't use fresh, why bother? Chairs in dining room had tattered fabric that was fraying and hanging down underneath seats. Cocktails and "finger" appetizers were served without napkins. No decaf coffee at night served at dinnertime. Some of the staff were ...

Danube Cruise on Amadeus Silver – Quality below what we expected

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on Amadeus Silver

For August 2015, we booked a 14-day cruise through Gate 1 on Luftner’s Amadeus Silver from Amsterdam to Budapest. Because of low water, the first 5 days were a bus tour and we boarded the ship in Passau. This review is not about the substituted bus tour (which I will address in a separate posting). This review solely presents my comments and opinions about the 9-day cruise on the Danube from ...

Cruise Lueftner only if you can see in the dark.

We booked the Amsterdam to Budapest 14 night Cruise departing 9 August 2015 on Amadeus Silver. On the way to the airport for an LA stopover of 2 nights we were advised that the first 5 days of the Cruise would be 'on land' as the Rhine river levels were too low. Also that we could 'cancel' but if we accepted the changed itinerary there would be no further compensation. Of course, there was no ...

Poor service, but ship is nice place to stay.

Ship is new so I can say that is nice place to stay. Food is very good especially desserts, they are very tasty. Shore excursions are good. Entertainment is also good. There are not to much activities on the ship but I didnt expect it to be, It is not ocean cruiser. Very bad hotel service, restaurant vaiters are very slow. I think that they have not enough vaiters, they dont speak German. Captain ...

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on Amadeus Royal

We travelled with a Gate 1 arranged river cruise on the Amadeus Royal on the Danube from Nuerenberg to Budapest this year. Gate one arranged cruises are cheaper than others, and there is a reason for it. The ships they use (from Lueftner, in our case) are older, in need of modernization, not as attractive an interior, old carpet, tired looking cabins, almost no space for your clothes, etc. This ...

Use Caution In Booking Your Cabin

We traveled from Amsterdam to Basil with a tour group, and were not given an opportunity to specifically book our cabin. We booked a Category 4 room. We were given room #234, next to the engine room. The noise was deafening and the vibration was huge. The ship traveled upstream and was at full throttle some nights. Even when it was traveling at normal speed throughout the night, there was a great ...
