We went from Heathrow, there was some confusion at Budapest airport however that was soon resolved and we had a posh taxi to the boat. Firstly the good news, the boat was very clean and the maid service exceptional. The staff were excellent, a tribute to the enforced tipping system which adds perhaps £10 a day to your costs.
Due I suspect to the cost, the average age was perhaps 70 and ...
We knew going into things that this was a difficult itinerary because of the tides on the river. We found the ship to be clean and comfortable, and the staff were very good. Service most times was excellent, but there were constant issues with service in the dining room. Several nights were seated by the staff, and the rest of the time it was seat yourself. It was very confusing. We often didn't ...
Our cabin (222) was very, very small and a great disappointment. Storage space was limited, although closet space was adequate. The cabin is almost claustrophobic. Desk space is very shallow and the sink/vanity in the bathroom is minute. The ship was kept very clean and the entire staff was very attentive.
Our Cruise Manager, John Riley, was exceptionally good and did whatever was necessary ...
I was referred to this site by Trip Advisor to write a review. On Trip Advisor I am known as "Beaune." I generally agree with the editor's extensive review of the AmaPrima which sailed up the Danube to Vilshofen. But I have two serious gripes to pass along. First, I paid over 10,000 dollars for a 7-day cruise. Compared to ocean cruises, such as Silversea or Oceana, that is a bit expensive. I spent ...
After 40 ocean cruises I was looking forward to this experience. We spent several days precruise after flying from Los Angeles. We packed light for us but had to check our luggage anyway on Delta. We began in Brussels, went to Bruges and Ghent and then to Amsterdam for another 2 nights in a hotel before embarking. We covered all the major sights and then some. We embarked at 3pm as suggested ...
My husband and I along with another couple took an AMA Waterways extended Danube cruise this fall, which started far from the Danube in Istanbul and ended somewhat past the Danube in Prague. There were 14 actual days on the ship with an almost total turnover of passengers and some crew in Budapest.
There were many highlights -- several on the land extensions. Istanbul and Prague are both bucket ...
First river cruise with APT. The cruise embarkation was well handled from the hotel to ship. Welcome and cabin allocation all ok. First night cruising the Danube just wonderful, however that was the best part overall. Unfortunately the vessel had an outbreak of gastro which wasn't surprising as we did notice that hygiene e.g. mandatory sanitizing of hands wasn't enforced. One guest was actually ...
The August AMA Waterways Danube Discovery cruise aboard AmaLyra was underwhelming even though AMA Waterways is supposed to provide a higher end experience than its competition.
The AmaLyra was built in 2009 & therefore does not have all the "bells & whistles” of more modern ships (e.g. it has French balconies which allow passengers to open a sliding door to the outside but not a true balcony ...
We went on our first river cruise in August choosing the Amerceto as it had a small plunge pool and sit on private balcony.
The ship is very smart and immaculately kept by the hard working staff.
The cabins were well thought out, the shower the best I have had on a ship.
We had the top floor thinking that there would be less noise from above which is inevitable if cabins are above you. However ...
Having been on 7 Windstar cruises, and this cruise costing twice as much as any of those I was expecting great food. I was very disappointed in the dining on this ship. The breakfasts and lunches were practically the same every day. Dinner had few options and choices compared to the Windstar. The execution and preparation of the food was mediocre at best and bland at worse. The dining service ...
