I rarely post reviews, so I will try to keep it short and easy to read. We are experienced cruisers and have been loyal royals. We wanted to see the big ship and try it once, and "once" is all it took. We canceled our reservation for Nov 2012. It will be very diffuclt for RCL to fill these ships in the coming years. Only 2 intineraries and people will tire of them. Such expectations that quickly got a reality check after day 1. There isn't any flow to the entire ship. Stairwells that suddenly stop or you have to walk around a wall to continue up or down. Deck 6 aft is a circus at sea. Royal is trying to capture business from Disney & Carnival and it shows. We thought that September 9th the kids would have been in school. We must have missed the memo on that one... If I wanted to sail with kids at the circus I'd book those cruise lines instead. What a disappointment. Cabin - Grand Suite #14260 Port Small, not the 371sq' claims & got bad attitude from George at Guest Relations Located under the pool deck, lots of noise around the clock. Pick deck 10 instead. Crowds - I found the ship didn't accomandate them as good as their smaller class ships. Perhaps why they will not be building any more of them. Apparently going back to smaller ones. Just people everywhere, all 8500 staff & passengers. How anyone could say otherwise shows a lack of experience or knowledge. Food Windjammer - Poor selection - venue too small for the hords. RCL wants to drive revenue at the "speciality" dinning options. Reducing the size of the WJ does just that. Chops - bland, lukewarm filet migon, tastless sides. Not worth the cover $. Park Cafe - good selection for light lunch Solarium Bistro - bland flavourless "lighter fare" People sat on the cushions with wet clothes on, so beware. Izumi - Sashmi had a weird odor/ frozen ? Not worth the cover $ Pools and Decks What a useless exercise in design. The Solarium is so hot - they built it without the normal "retracable" glass roof. It may be fine during winter months but absolutley horrible for summer months. Pools so small - people looked like upright sardines in a can. No shade anywhere just blistering heat you couldn't avoid. Two sets of 6 elevators....the same amount on all their ships, but with twice as many passengers, you do the math. Disembarking - Awful, made to sit and wait for 30 miutes before joining the queue for US Customs, which took another 30 minutes, so be prepared to wait. What more can we say, we voted with our dollars and cancelled our sailing in November because of this experience. It should account for something...but who really cares ? LOL Read Less
