We choose this cruise because we wanted to experience one of the big ships and it fitted right into our daughters autumn-break. We are very regular cruisers and mostly we sail on Celebrity. Have done 3 cruises with RC before and once a Disney-cruise. Because of our Elite-Plus status with Celebrity we automaticaly were Diamond at RC. Before our cruise started I had some questions. I tried to ask them by email, because of time difference between US and Europe, where we live, but never had answers to them. I sent them well ahead of our cruise.....On one email I had answer while we were onboard..... I contacted them by phone as well and was satisfied with my answer and how I was helped, but after we checkt-in at the ship, it seemed they gave me complete the wrong answer..... Check-in was a breeze. We were at the pier at 11.30 am and could walk straight into the ship. Were on board at 12. We were advised not to go to Windjammer for lunch so we choose The Central Park Cafe for lunch. Not crowded, had a nice table outside. Nice lunch. Our cabin was ready at 1 pm. We had a junior-suite, midship. The only plus of this suite is the size. It is a little bit bigger than a normal cabin. With a lot of storage space. The only other benefit is that you can have in their suite-restaurant, Coastal Kitchen. Cabin was nice but not great. Clean, except for the shower-curtain that was in the bathtub. That was really dirty. No separate shower. We had several issues with the toilet flushing system. Balcony not really clean. Very friendly cabin-steward who made nice towel animals for our daughter (10) Before sailing I booked the beverage package including ZOOM- internet, the ultimate speciality Dining package as well as unlimited photo package and Character Breakfast. I also pre-reserved some shows. Their cruise-planner on their website is really great and I loved the in-cabin system where you could see your calender and make and change reservations. I also pre-booked a private flow-rider lesson for our daughter but this was cancelled on the ship because they needed 4 persons for that lesson minimum...... We liked the separate boardwalks with their own themes. We liked the parades, the shows...Even when their was a serious storm outside they did the kids-show in the aqua-theater as well as the ice-show. I did not expect this. Shops are limited for a shop as big as this. I was looking for a book to read that I could buy in a shop or a magazine, never found it. Lots of sales from Michael Kors bags, Kipling, Guess etc. Announcement of the activities and entertainment were too much...it annoyed me. Almost no daily updates from the captain about weather and route, depth etc. On Celebrity this was a daily item. Our daughter did not go to the kids-club. So no comment on that. There is a lot of other activities. The first sea day we were up early because of our jet-lag and found us self a nice chai at one of the pools. Our daugher is too old for all the kiddie-pool things so we decide to sit near the pool on the other side. Nobody warned us that this pool was for the activiteies. Scuba-diving, pool-volly-ball, aerobics. My daughter had to get out all the time. If you are looking for less activities you have to be at the 2 forward pools. We were on the Ultimate speciality package so we had dinner in a speciality restaurant every evening, as well as lunch on sea-days. Mostly we we were at Chops'Grill and Giovanni's table. Food was great, service was great. Nothing was too much. Steaks were cooked perfectly to order! For our daughter there was a USD 10 charge extra for the speciality restaurants. We had dinner at Samba Grill as well but did not like it. The waiting staff was great and very friendly. But you had view of their solarium where people were sitting in Jacuzzi's etc....Not the view I liked while having dinner. As well their starter is buffet-style. I do not like it personally. Main course they came by the table whit meats on a pin. You can have it if you like, if you do not like it they take it back. First round was sausages and chicken. Our chicken had still raw parts in it, Did not eat it. Steak was nice. Their sauces that came with the meats were tasteless. We thanked for desserts. We also had dinner at Coastal Kitchen their suite restaurant. We did not know e needed reservations for tis but they managed to get us a table. Service was great, food superb!! Views were to die for! We wished we had know sooner that this was so great, we booked a suite a catergory more high so we could have lunch and breakfast here as well... We mostly had breakfast at the Main Dining Room. This was a la carte but they also had buffet. One morning, our daughter ordered buttermilk pancakes and she asked for some whipped cream on the side. The answer from a one stripe lady officer was " you can take it from the buffet" How rude!! Most crew showed their tattoo's etc....Strange haircuts...We have never seen this on Celebrity or Disney! Overall staff, with some exceptions did not care....Not at all....Sometimes they were even rude and did show signs of tiredness... Ports were nice but not great...We choose this cruise for the ship. Cozumel, falmouth and Labadee...We have been on Labadee many time and see improvements all the time we come here. Did only do a walk around the island this time. It was nice to be on a big ship for once but we will not do it again. Too big, too un-personnel, to un-professional. Even at Guest Relations the lady kept typing in her computer while she was 'talking' to me......She did not look at me once..... No rewarding for being Diamond member, although some staff noticed and 'thanked us for being loyal'. Thats it. No complimentary laundry, no complimentary internet. Nothing. We did not use their Diamond lounge. We had a 10 am flight from Miami to Atlanta with connection to Amsterdam, Europe. We bumped into the Hotel Manager and while we talked with him, we asked him if we could get the flight on-time. He said; NEVER.......We had breakkie at 5.30 in Windjammer (already packed at this time) By the way, no speciality coffee this morning, coffee shop was closed.....Were in line for express walk-off at 6.15 and were in the taxi at 6.30 am. Because it was a Sunday, it was quiet on the roads, Even with a road closure because of an accident we were at Miami Airport at 7.15 am. More than 2 1/2 hours before our flight..... We might do the opening sailing on Symphony next year. We have a reservation. But only in a suite to avoid all the extra costs....... Read Less

I was on the cruise alone as I could not find a room mate. I had heard so much about Allure of the Seas and it was my first cruise on Allure. I feel that the cruise is for children. There were too many children's. Even thought the Daily Compass specified no shorts, baseball caps, t shirts and flip flop were not acceptable for dinner in the dining room, I saw too many of them On Formal nights I think may 25% of the ship were appropriately dressed My room attendant provide excellent service. There were not enough activities for senior guests. The Shore Excursions were overpriced for the bus or boat ride. There should be a large golf carts available for senior guest from Ship to the end of the pier, being a large ship it is docked too far from the end of the pier. I do not think I will go on Allure again. Read Less

We choose this cruise because at the time it was the biggest cruise ship and it also conveniently departed from Ft Lauderdale. When we got to Port Everglades at the check-in the line was very long and a bit disorganized. The check-in team were in the middle and everyone was crowding the little centre in the middle like brokers charging at the TV monitors down at the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. When we boarded the ship after a hectic one hour we were astonished by the centre where it looked like a mall. There was a cool elevator with a bar on it and many shopping stores. Our ship disembarked smoothly but 15 minutes later than 5:00. I was also amazed by the Central Park with all the landscaping and greenery. I must say though that the Park felt very compact and at times even artificial. The ship was huge, I mean you could take days just to explore the whole ship. The pools were extremely crowded and very shallow. It was difficult to find reclining chairs to put our stuff in and at times someone would slip and fall on the pool deck because it was slippery. One of my favourite parts of the ship was definitely, the navigational bridge. The bridge was amazing and was probably one of my trip's highlights. My cabin was expectingly compact but roomier than those on Carnival Cruise Lines. The kids get a pullout bunk while the adults get nice king-sized beds. The showers were great and the toilets flushed well. The sinks though took a little getting used to though. The balcony was great and we left the door open during the night so we can hear the waves. One problem with the balcony though was that the handicap accessibility ramp would smash down on the floor every time we opened the door which eventually got disturbing and I think that Royal Carribean could've made a quieter alternative. The dining was okay and usually, the bill was a bit expensive for the quality of the food we got. At every destination and port, we usually left the crowd and rented a car to go explore the islands ourselves. Port service was usually good and boarding was made convenient by the security staff. Overall, the cruise was okay but could've been better. Read Less

Please note, this is a review of the Allure of the Seas, Atlantis charter. I'll refrain from commenting on Atlantis specific entertainment, etc. as that would not apply to you. Departure process in Fort Lauderdale was excellent. Rented a car a couple days before from National/Alamo, took the free shuttle to the ship upon returning the car to the airport. Allure was the first stop. Proceeded very directly into check in, no line, and only a short line getting on board. No free glass of champagne, unlike Celebrity. Already missed Celebrity. Stateroom was very clean and smelled very fresh. We had the central park view. Our couch was seperated from the window seat. Did not like this - would prefer the other orientation. Met our wonderful stateroom attendant, forgot to ask to clean out the minibar fridge for the water/soft drinks we brought onboard. Security delivered all bags, except for the one containing a case of water, but no problems once we went down to guest relations to claim it. Asked our stateroom attendant to clean out the fridge, and we then had to ask the minibar attendant to do it, but it was done for us. Let me mention one more time, best stateroom attendant on the five cruises I have taken (4 RCCL, 1 Celebrity). As there are no fixed dining times on the Atlantis charter, we went to the dining room, and really received terrible service the first night. No toppings offered for a baked potato, took forever to get my glass of wine, tasted it, and didn't like it. Never got asked anything, was served appetizer, then a main, and finally flagged someone down because my seapass hadn't come back, and I didn't want it... By that time I was almost finished with my entree. I refused to sign for the wine. It did appear on my account, but was removed when I asked last afternoon of the cruise at guest relations. The service speed did improve the other two times in the main dining room, but just don't care for the main dining room food. The mainstage show Chicago was the best I've seen of course on a cruise ship. A great show, for adults. Also saw the Aquatheatre show, which was good, but not something I'd see again over the other great entertainment going on. Had a wonderful experience at Chef's table. Its $75, but the wine alone was worth the $75. Full pours of four different wines, plus an after dinner drink. If you don't drink wine, I don't think this is for you. The menu is consistent to what I've read on the discussion boards, food was very good, and the service was exceptional. This was the best experience of the week. Ate at 150 Central Park - good, but the service was v-e-r-y slow paced. I think we were still hungry when we finished, because it was 3 hours later. Our reservation was at 7pm, so that ruled out seeing a 9:30 show. The food was not better than Chef's table and we passed on the expensive wine pairing. Would have preferred Chops, missed that this trip. We had wonderful tapas at Vintages, and nice wine flights. Service again not fast, but thats one place we didn't need to hurry. Wish we had done that the first night! Would have gone back. The hot dogs were tasty mid day snacks. The windjammer was small, and almost always packed, but at least you can get in and out of there quickly. Overall, great ship. Huge. Blisters from too much walking, or maybe my new shoes. The problem we had was there was too much to do, and too little time. Can't believe, I prefer having less options! Read Less
