Allure OTS Review (May 14 Sailing) - First Timer for RCL and for a megaship

Review for a Caribbean - Western Cruise on Allure of the Seas

Background - 1x HAL (Mexican Riviera), 1X Princess (Alaska), 2x NCL (Alaska and Western Caribbean), 8?x CCL. Self, DW, 2X adult DD (21/24), MIL/FIL. At this point we look at itineraries first and price, not necessarily line or ship. In no particular order... Itinerary - only Costa Maya was new for us. They cut the port time short before the cruise, so all board was 12:30 PM. Our excursion ...

Fun but very crowded

My husband, two 20-something sons and I were on this 7 day cruise out of Galveston to Roatan, Costa Maya and Cozumel. This was our first cruise on RCL, and my sons' first cruise anywhere. This ship seemed to be completely full, so waits for elevators were common as were lines at the main dining rooms for dinner. The wait for an elevator to disembark at the end of the cruise was particularly ...

The GOOD, the BAD, and the UGLY...but we still love Royal Caribbean

Review for a Caribbean - Western Cruise on Allure of the Seas

Several parts of this review assume you already know about cruising. The GOOD... Our cabin was on deck 8. This ended up being a great choice because it was possible to walk from one end of the ship to the other without walking down the room hallways and without needing to get in an elevator first to get to a common area like the promenade, Central Park, or the pool deck. I have a bad knee ...

Better than expected

Review for a Caribbean - Western Cruise on Allure of the Seas

Wanted to try a big ship (5000*) passengers. Was better than I expected. Keep in mind we are a retired couple in our 70's. Activities & Entertainment A+: I'm used to the same old loud singing, clumsy dancing and ladies swinging from sheets on smaller ships. No one would pay to see those types of show on land but people pay big to see Broadway shows. The show Mama Mia, while no My Fair Lady, ...

Second time on Allure of the Seas was great

We had been on the Allure not long after it was first launched and we were curious to see how it has fared in the meantime. We like this ship better than some of the newer Oasis class ships. First of all it has the Broadway show Mama Mia! Un fortunately the cast was not up to the standard of the first time we saw it on this ship. That cast and production was every bit up to the quality level ...

Amazing Cruise Overall

Review for a Caribbean - Southern Cruise on Allure of the Seas

We did an 8 night cruise. We've sailed on Oasis 2 times before, but never the Allure and we had a lot of fun. We had 2 early teenagers with us and there were so many activities for all of us to do together. The food was mostly delicious! We had a few nights in MDR that service was VERY slow. We did my time dining and had to wait for a seat a lot - 20 to 30 minutes usually - but sometimes ...

An Overall GREAT Family Vacation

Review for a Caribbean - Southern Cruise on Allure of the Seas

Have been on a couple other cruise lines, but Royal Caribbean is always a favorite of our family. Last Cruise we had our two teenage boys with us and although they were in the adjoining cabin, we rarely saw them. I was nervous initially about their age group (and the Allure has not been through the Royal Upgrade yet (with waterslides and bunch of other perks)) but there were so many ...

Royal Caribbean's Staff were the Stars of this Cruise!!

The Allure is a beautiful ship! Great, helpful and happy personnel work on this ship. They were very excited to be back to cruising and it showed. We enjoyed delicious food in all of the restaurants and experienced great service with a smile. Sadly for us, we came home infected with COVID, despite being double vaccinated and boosted. We had not cruised since 2019 and we were very excited about ...

The good and the bad

Review for a Europe - Western Mediterranean Cruise on Allure of the Seas

Our 3 generational family of 11 wanted to go on a mega ship. Some parts were great; others disappointing. The Aqua Theater show was wonderful. The ice show was a disappointment compared to the ice show that we saw on the Freedom in 2020 that used drones. This show was based on the board game Monopoly and was a yawn. It was disappointing that there weren't more variety/entertainment shows in ...

Comfortable Cruise Ship

My wife and I chose this ship because we were pleased with our experience on the Harmony., a sister ship in the RC Oasis class. Our tips from lessons learned from previous cruises would be: 1) Arrive in embarkation day as early as possible. You are told to arrive only at your scheduled time. However the lines are long so even though they move quickly it can take a while before one is actually ...
