Well due to the hurricane it was shortened to 4 nights,this was our second time on the ship and the first night I treated myself to the fire and ice pedicure which I never use spas on board due to the price but this time I did and wont again,its expensive and the atmosphere wasnt anything different then a plaza nail salon but no magazines to read,the tech was very nice but it's a sales pitch,they are constantly trying to sell their products,they give you small amounts ts to try and then tell you its 55.00 and 25.00 for gel polish if added.now the room,this was the first time we upgraded to a suite since the ship was empty we got the junior suite well after 3 hours back and forth with customer service and after 12am we actually got the room.It was on 7642 and the hallway smelled like mildew and unfortunately the room did to,now it's a much bigger room and a full size tub,big balcony and a curtain t separate the bed from the couch.the furniture definitely is worn out and we never got to experience the costal dinning because they never answered and we were told it's just dinner,the last night we were told they have a 830 opening,but we had reservations somewhere else,now theres no special anything with the suit which I was disappointed with.This cruise because of the mess from the hurricane I felt like everything was just rushed and wasnt ready for our cruise.The food for vegetarian options wasnt alot this time around,the first day I went to 3 places before I could eat something decent.The only best thing about this 4 night cruise was Giovanni's! This place is amazing and a perfect 10.the only meal that I left so happy afterwards..also a small but annoying thing was I went to the spa and had asked for a small sample of bubble bath for my daughter since we had a tub and wanted to make it nice for her well they said no but I can buy it lol..come on spa stop pushing that experience stuff on people.the family festival was lame and they were doing work on the boardwalk during it..last year we loved our 7 night cruise on allure unfortunately this one was not our favorite and being 4 nights from 7 with one stop wasn't what we hope for but it was nice having a empty ship.now also side note the pineapple was white and hard and yet they kept serving it and even in room service and for 8.00 a fee I'd expect better quality Read Less

2nd time on Allure. Amazing ship with lots to do for kids. Chops was great, the food in the main dining room was great too and service was superb. Don’t miss the hotdogs on boardwalk, worth the calories. Rarely felt crowded even though over 6000 passengers were sailing. Don’t forget to try ice skating and zip line. Flow rider is great but gets crowded on sea days. All the shows were fun. Because of Dorian, our cruise was extended by 3 days. Captain kept us updated at all times and the fun never stopped. Our beverage package and internet was extended free of charge. My only complaint is that I felt our room was not getting cold enough, we spoke to our steward and his supervisor came down to talk to us and reassured us that it was on maximum cool. It’s moving to Europe after the upcoming refurbishment. We may try it again then. Read Less

I had high expectations as I heard and read lots of raving reviews on this boat. Here’s a summary of our experience. Service was awful. Too many people on board. Lines were long. Dining staff completely disorganized. We had anytime dining and on one night it was a 1-2 hour wait to eat. In the buffet for dinner one night, a kid took a topping spoon at the sundae station, put the spoon in his mouth to taste the topping and put it back in the serving dish. Employee thought it was hilarious...I literally walked behind the buffet counter to remove the spoon and tray and expressed how disgusting it was that he wasn’t even going to remove the item from the topping station even though a kid just slobbered in it. Needed some credit adjustments on my folio for some refunds I was owed...spent 4 days trying to get that done and still not resolved and I’m already back home. Food wasn’t great. We grew tired of the staff continuously trying to force specialty restaurants and other up charge items to us. All they cared about was selling and selling. In addition, we also grew Tired of the staff trying to make us give them perfect 10s on the guest satisfaction survey so their respective departments won’t get in trouble. In April, I received an email that one of the ship’s engines wasn’t working so the itinerary was adjusted. Sailing was just this past week in August. We spent more time at sea than we did in ports. The ship was moving at a snail’s pace but when it needed to pick up speed to get to the next port all of a sudden the boat picked up speed with enough time to get to destination. At 10:30 pm Saturday night, we were almost back in fort lauderale so all this of “an engine not working and needing to adjust the itinerary for more time to get to ports” is a lie. Overall, very disappointed in Royal. I’ve been on 15+ cruises on many different cruise lines and Royal ranks near the bottom of my experiences. Read Less

We'd been on a Royal Caribbean cruise before and had a great time, but this trip we walked away with a few disappointments. If you want to lounge in the pool on sea days, then maybe the Allure isn't for you. Because of the open Central Park in the center of the ship, all the pools on board are quite small. During sea days when everyone is on board, the pools feel more like sardine cans with everyone crammed in and they were not at all enticing. We are foodies, so we were excited about all the dining opportunities on the Allure. But my husband needs to eat gluten free, and that ended up being a pretty big problem. We filled out the special needs form ahead of our trip, and we were advised that we could just inform our servers and we'd be fine. However, we walked away with the impression that most of the staff on the ship had no clue what was and wasn't gluten free. There were a few meals my husband ate that should've been gluten free, and his body told him they were not. There was even an instance at Coastal Kitchen where an appetizer was marked gluten free on the menu, and our server came back to use and said the chef told her that item was not gluten free. It's marked as such on THEIR MENU! Those issues aside, if you have any sort of dietary restriction, I'd think twice about this ship. Even though there are multiple restaurants on board, the gluten free offerings were suspiciously the same for the most part (aka, shrimp cocktail as an appetizer and chicken with a thyme sauce for an entree). That brings me to the beverages. If you order the same drink from three different bartenders, you'll walk away with three different beverages. The drink-making quality was very hit and miss. There were even times when I ordered a basic drink (ex, a mojito) and I couldn't even drink it it was so bad. Had I not had the all-inclusive drink package, I would've been upset and demanded they make me another one. My best advice — find a bartender you like early in the week and make him or her your bud. Our best bud was Charlie in the Schooner Bar. That bar had a wide variety of liquor and mixer options, plus bitters and other traditional bar ingredients. My husband works in the restaurant industry, so we know how to make good, classic drinks. With Charlie, we were able to explain what we wanted, and would make it exactly that way. One thing the Royal staff has going for them is their customer service. Across the board, everyone on the ship was friendly and courteous. The ship is also very clean and has a lot to explore. Our 12-year-old had a great time with all the teen activities and enjoyed being able to run around the ship with her new friends. The one caveat I'll give to other parents is make sure your children understand what's included on the ship and what costs money. For example, our daughter went to the arcade one evening with friends and racked up a $50 arcade bill by swiping her SeaPass. She knew she was spending some money, but as a kid she didn't exactly keep track of how much. Royal Caribbean has an app that's very helpful to keep track of your spending on board. It also allows you to message with other guests *without* having to pay for VOOM (their on-board internet). One note for parents with their app, children 12 years old and younger are *not* allowed to use the messaging portion of their app. Our daughter could see the events schedule and add things to the calendar, but she couldn't use the messaging feature. I understand the security concerns Royal has with young kids being able to chat anyone on board. But I feel like they should adjust their app permissions to allow kids under 12 to at least message with the other people in their stateroom. I ended up signing into my account on our daughter's phone so she could message us while on board (since my husband and I were together most of the time). One other piece of advice, be sure you *always* get a receipt. Whether it's an onboard charge, or when you check liquor purchases you make at port. One the last night, our liquor purchases were delivered to our room, but three bottles we purchase in Cozumel were missing. Luckily our stateroom attendant was right down the hall, so we flagged her and let her know. Within 30 min, she had found our bottles and had them in our room. The staff at the port had marked them with the wrong room number. Without our attendant, Lovelace, I'm not sure we would've have ever gotten those bottles! (and the staff at the port didn't give us a receipt for them when we checked back in to get on the ship... so we might have been S.O.L.) The onboard entertainment was pretty good. The Mama Mia cast was wonderful, and we even hung out with some of them a bit while they enjoyed some time off at one of the bars on the ship. However, I will say the ice skating show was the least exciting, and I love ice skating typically. We just felt the quality of the performance didn't match the other shows on the ship. And finally, we're not super experienced cruisers, so maybe this is typical for the industry — but I did feel like we were nickel-and-dimed on board. This is especially true for their private ports, like ours in Labadee, Haiti. Just about everything at the port costs money. An hour at their blow-up beach park? $20 each. One ride on the roller coaster? $27 each. But it also happened plenty of places on the ship. For example, they have a popcorn station on the deck with the two main theaters, but the small carton of popcorn costs $2.50. Seriously? After all the money everyone has paid to get on the ship, you can't include some simple popcorn in the cost?!? Come on, now. And as I mentioned earlier, people with kids who have their own SeaPass cards need to be sure their kids know what is and is not included! Read Less

We normally do Celebrity cruises, but this time was all about my 13 year old son and making sure there was enough fun for him. So we went on Royal Caribbean and were very pleased. Here is a comprehensive review: Cabin - we were two people in a balcony cabin - plenty of storage space, shower was great, no signs of wear, bed was very comfortable. We had another cabin with a balcony facing the inside boardwalk which was a refreshing change of pace. Beware though, because it does get loud. Dining - dinner in the dining room was consistently good. I am vegan and the options were wonderful and delicious. People who had the lobster and steak raved. We had breakfast in the dining room a few times as well and were pleased with the choices. Yes breakfast is what you get at Windjammer, but you can customize and get made to order omelets so that's nice. Pastries are not great, but that's a good thing because I didn't need a daily tempting of a bread basket. Waffles are a winner. Embarkation and Disembarkation - both easy peasy with no complaints.They have it down to a science Activities and Entertainment: varied and really fun - you can't be bored here - kids loved the flow rider and the sushi making class. Something for everyone. Just walking around and meeting people is exciting. Casino though is lackluster. Not a lot of activity, but that might be the makeup of the people of the ship. It wasn't lively at all. Other than that, lots of fun things to do. One thing to remember: there are no water slides on this ship. That's important to some families, so please take note. Fitness: the fitness center had plenty of machines and things to do. The running track is in a great location. On Celebrity the track is up high and very windy so this was a nice change having it on Deck 5 (I think Deck 5). Public rooms: All the public areas are lovely and we enjoyed the many different bars and dance areas. Everything was well kept. We never felt we were stepping into someone else's mess or anything. Shore excursions - we didn't do any. Service - This I will say overall is meh. On Celebrity the service is stellar. You never felt like people were tired otherwise put upon. On Royal Caribbean, many of the crew seemed overwhelmed and impatient. I chalked it up to taking a step down in service, so I understood. Value for the Money - Here is what Royal Caribbean does: everything is extra. It's not a good feeling. I might be paying more on Celebrity, but I don't want to feel like I am. I feel like there are gimmes and gotchas everywhere. We had beverage packages, which make you feel less like that, but if I still really noticed it, then Royal Caribbean has to step up and start including some things in the price, even if they increase the cost just so you aren't constantly taking out your charge card. Side Note: People were complaining on Cruise Critic that there were too many people. Our ship was sold out, and I didn''t feel there were too many people. We are usually on Celebrity which are much smaller ships, but we didn't feel bombarded at all when there was nearly twice the people aboard. Also, regarding feel of the ship, my daughter usually requires dramamine for her experience, but because the ship is so big and well designed, there was minimal swaying and she didn't need dramamine at all. Overall: We would sail Royal Caribbean again. It was a different experience than we were accustomed, but it was a different kind of trip. If you want lots to do, do the Allure. Read Less

This is our second trip on the Allure and our 3rd trip on the Oasis class. As a point of reference, we have also cruised on Carnival, NCL(Haven and nonHaven), and Celebrity within the last 10 years. This was a family cruise with 17 total passenger, a 21st and 13th birthday celebration, and 2 25 year anniversaries to celebrate. Let me start by saying we had a great time. Nothing negative below prevented us from enjoying the cruise and the family time. We were in a boardwalk view balcony which we had enjoyed in the past and enjoyed this time. The ship was sold out and the population was mostly families. The Good - We had the key package and embarkation and disembarkation were extremely easy and efficient. Outside of the snacks and private room the embarkation was just as easy as the Haven on NCL. The service on board was overall outstanding. Our cabin steward, waiters, bartenders, etc all seemed to be very dedicated to their jobs and worked to make our cruise easy and enjoyable. The shows were very good. I somebody in our group attended every show and there were no complaints. Mama Mia seemed to be even better than the main show on my last RCCL cruise. The aqua show is always amazing. There was a solo guitarist in the park named Will and he was fantastic with everything from classical to classic rock. We went on the Snuba shore excursion in Saint Maarten and our guide was amazing. The Bad - The itinerary was modified due to propulsion issues on the Allure(more on that later) so we had 3 full days at sea and we were only in San Juan from 7:30-1 so it was really 3.5 days at sea. The Allure is a big ship but 3.5 days is still a lot of time on the boat. The food varied from inedible to mediocre. This was the most surprising thing. The last time we sailed on RCCL was on the Oasis about 4 years ago and the food was well above average cruise food. We sent back several dishes and I don't think we ever said "wow this is really good." We ate all dinners in the MDR except one night in the Windjammer. Some family did go to Chops one night and were pleased with the quality there. The constant sales pitches are just too much now. I get the economics of a cruise but we were constantly being sold specialty dining, photos, excursions, art, etc, etc. This happened everywhere. We even got a sales pitch at the key lunch after embarkation. Our waiter tried to get us to sign up for a specialty dining offer while eating lunch. The Ugly - the Allure is well past it's rehab date. The furnishings are literally falling apart. We sat in the schooner bar and laughed because no 2 chairs had the same number of buttons. The fake leather rubbed off on your hands and shirt sleeves while sitting in the chair. The couch in our room was so stained it was hard to tell what the original color was. There was carpet peeling back from the wall in the Windjammer. The list goes on and on. The Allure is going in to dry dock next year and it seems like they are just delaying any and all maintenance until then. I don't know if it was due to the propulsion issue but all of our rooms shook and creaked more than any other room on any other ship I have been on. Our sliding glass door vibrated all night and the walls creaked like old wooden stairs. We have been in almost the same exact cabin on the same ship 6 years ago and I dont remember anything like that. Read Less

This was a great ship for the entire family, young and old . Lots to do on the ship for all ages. The grandchildren were always busy with activities. They climbed the rock wall, saw Mamma Mia, enjoyed the RC parade, arcade, Adventure Ocean, etc. Royal Caribbean had lots of activities for everyone. Our head waiter was excellent. She was very good with the children and their needs and requests. Food was good. The ports were ok. We just walked around San Juan and bought some items and in St Maarten we shopped first then went to the beach. We rented six chairs and three umbrellas for $30.00. We have cruised a lot and I really believe this is a ship for families especially during the summer time. I suggest if you go to Labadee and have a family with you, you might like to rent a beach bungalow at Columbus Cove. We did and it was well worth the price. Read Less

Everything on this ship is over crowded. Lines and long waits for almost all the dining venues. Everywhere we went aboard this ship was crowded except for the Diamond Lounge. This was a Caribbean cruise and the design of the ship, open on the inside, means the ship was very warm throughout. We had our room thermostat turned all the way down and the room never really cooled off. Lots to do but again crowded. Reservations necessary for shows due to large numbers of cruisers. Service was again slow because of the numbers. The food aboard was average. We had a balcony cabin which was nice and our room steward was great. The embarkation and disembarkation processes did go fairly smooth given the crowds. Also Royal Caribbean has a nice app that you can use to track daily activities and make reservations for dining and shows. We’ve been on nearly 50 cruises and this cruise aboard the Allure was among the worst that we’ve ever experienced. Read Less

The Allure of the Seas provides a never-ending supply of things to do with the many entertainment venues, restaurants, and pools to occupy your time. The cabins are of excellent quality and are larger than one would expect. Entertainment aboard the Allure is also worthy of a letter home. The main production of Mama Mia! is a true spectacle and is the best at sea! The staff onboard was incredibly friendly and helpful and left nearly nothing to complain about. Dining onboard is of the highest quality with the offerings of venues like the famous 150 Central Park, Chops Grille, Giovanni's Table, Sabor, and more. The Allure being one of the Oasis sisters is on the larger side for a cruise ship. However, a common misconception is that the ship is overcrowded. This is not in any way true. The Allure at no other time than embarkation can feel this way. The Allure truly is a ship for everyone and deserves to be renowned for being the best in the Royal Caribbean fleet! Read Less

Royal Caribbean ships have outgrown their ability to serve their customers. It starts with boarding. We were a group of 12 with 5 rooms. Only one piece of luggage was delivered to our room and that one was after we complained multiple times to various people and were even taken to the luggage room looking for it. The rest of our luggage was found on our floor but no where near our rooms. The luggage handlers pulled the luggage out and dropped it in the first available spot. Dinner service was extremely slow (2 hrs) the first 2 days. Mom complained on day 2 because we never got our drinks, and there were people who arrived after us but were done and leaving before we received our main course. It improved after our complaints. However, very little vegetables are provided with meals so plan to order the Ceasar salad every night. The one flowerette of broccoli provided was raw - could not cut with dinner knife. Meals were adequate but nothing special. Prime rib was not hot, fish was dried out. The bartenders and sports teams (flow rider and zip line) were excellent. The room attendants varied. Dwayne cleaned 2 of our rooms and was excellent. He actually found the missing bag on a different floor. The rest of us had acceptable service but he did nothing special. If you were in your room, he skipped it and did not come back. This happened more than once even when told he could come in and refresh the bathroom. They no longer provide shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion. There is a shampoo and body wash combo that dries out your hair. We did not pack lotion because we are used to it being provided. Purell hand sanitizers dry your hands. There was only news, children’s programming and ship videos and sales on tv. There are movies but they cost $11.99 each. Shows were excellent but some were only available during our assigned dinner time versus an early and late show that gave you the option to see it. We had balcony rooms and the hvac was unable to cool our rooms. We kept the balcony doors closed with the curtains drawn one day while we were in port and the room was still warm. We slept on top of the covers and would still wake up sweating. The issue is the balcony door design. There is a rubber gasket around the door closing a large gap that you could put your finger through. This 1/2 inch gap is sucking the ac from the room. Inside areas were cooler and we often left our rooms to cool off. I have to admit that we have traveled Royal Caribbean in the past but for the last 12 years have been on Princess. Maybe our expectations were unrealistic given the size of the ship and number of passengers. Read Less

We chose this ship & cruise because of the great reviews & port locations. Originally we were scheduled to visit St. Kitts, St. Thomas, & Bahamas. Two months before our trip we were notified that one of the ships propulsion units was impaired and therefore the itinerary was changed. Instead of St Thomas, Puerto Rico. In addition, only 4 hours in Puerto Rico. And our day in the Bahamas was cut short to half a day as well. This was a huge hit, especially considering we paid over $11k ticket for the suite - to now find out we could make no changes and were stuck. Ugh!! SERVICE - not impressed. Aside from the suite lounge servers, this entire experience felt as though we were being shuttled like cattle. Most disappointing was the spa. On my birthday we scheduled couples massages - showed up and were shuttled into a “relaxation room” with 25 other people and no place to sit. We left immediately and cancelled our services, only to get a rude response from the desk attendant about why it was so crowded. In addition we were upsold constantly, phone calls about dinner packages, peddling in the shopping areas about drink packages. We received emails from our suite concierge ahead of our trip stating she could make reservations for us at restaurants or excursions. We asked ahead to schedule reservations on my birthday and never received a response from the concierge nor did our reservation get scheduled. ROOM- loved the room. Suite attendant was excellent. Plenty of space. Needs some updating though. SHIP- again, disappointment is the word. Although there’s a TON to do and my kids really enjoyed the activities, everything felt very enclosed and compartmentalized. We felt the ship rock through the entire trip even though the weather was perfect. Not sure if it’s because of the size? It was so crowded everywhere. The restaurants were insane. EXCURSIONS- good question. We didn’t book 6 months ahead and by 3 months out everything was sold out. We figured when we got on board more would open up... not the case. Again, major disappointment!! All in all, this is most likely our last RC cruise we will embark on. What a big ticket that was NOT worth the value. Celebrity hands down exceeds RC in every aspect. Read Less

We recently returned from a 7 night Eastern Caribbean cruise on Allure and all I can say is "Wow!" The ship itself is incredible and beautiful, with no shortage of things to do. The staff was friendly, attentive, helpful and fun. We returned rested and ready to book another cruise on RC! We had two rooms - my husband and I had an ocean view balcony on deck 12 and our daughters were across the hall from us with a Central Park balcony. Two rooms is definitely the way to go when you have kids, if you can swing it! Our room attendant, Yogesh, was extremely nice. We were easily able to walk up to deck 15 to hit the pools....and even down to deck 8 to get on Central Park. Food was very good. We ate at Chops (due to having the Key), and then also at Izumi Hibachi for dinner one night and Giovanni's for lunch one day. Great service (Alain our Hibachi chef was terrific!) and delicious food. All other dinners were in the Main Dining Room, where we had wonderful service again (we did My Time Dining) and then breakfasts were usually at Windjammer (ok in my opinion but kids and hubby really liked it) and then lunch at Windjammer or Central Park Cafe. I was a big fan of CP Cafe! The entertainment was beyond impressive. Mama Mia is a Broadway caliber performance, the performers are fantastic! Aqua show is one of the coolest things you will ever see. Ice show is great. And the headliner group they brought in from Vegas was Mo5aic and they were unbelievable. RC clearly puts a high value on entertainment and it shows. As for onship activities, we were fans of the Flow Rider, mini golf and zip line. Central Park is beautiful an oh so peaceful at night. Boardwalk is fun and my husband very much enjoyed the hot dog shop! Ports - we were on a ship that was originally slated for St. Thomas but changed to Puerto Rico a few months ago. Yes, were were certainly disappointed since they also cut down the time on shore, but it wasn't going to ruin my vacation. Our first port was St. Kitts and we did the Fan ta Sea snorkeling and beach catamaran excursion. Probably the highlight for me! Great snorkeling, excellent crew, tons of fun (ok food, but whatever). This was also the ship that did dock in Puerto Rico, despite the ongoing protests. We were able to dock because we arrived in the morning, whereas the other ships would have been there at night, when the protests were actually taking place. We did the Old and New San Juan tours, and it was disappointing to see the toll the protests took on the city itself. And while we had initially been sad about not having too much time in PR, it definitely turned out to be for the best, given the circumstances. Our last port was Nassau, and we did our own thing at Atlantis, due to a family connection there. We had the Key and it was absolutely worth the investment! From the time we arrived at Port Everglades to getting on the ship was 20 minutes! We could drop off our carry on luggage instead of lugging it around. We loved the Chops Grille lunch that day - although instead of eating at Chops, they serve you the meal in the Main Dining Room. While it might have been cool to eat actually in Chops, it was a great idea by RC to do this because there was zero line and you were not rushed at all. We also got priority seating at the shows, although we only took advantage of it at Mama Mia and the ice show. And we utilized the private times for the Flow Rider and zip line, that makes a difference! My only negative feedback would be putting one of the two towel stations right next to the smoking section of deck 15. Most of us do not want to have to walk through that or stand next to it to get a towel. Seems like something they could move over a bit. Overall, I highly recommend Allure of the Seas, as well as the Key program. Our family of four had a great time and will be back on another RC cruise! Read Less

I chose this cruise because it was a time my family could come (9 people in 3 cabins) and Ft Lauderdale was convenient to get to for all. I had heard the Allure was a great ship but I was a bit disappointed that there were no water slides and that RCL no longer had the Dreamworks characters or any substitution. Also, there was no parade on this cruise though they were rehearsing one for the future. Still, everyone had loads of fun with the activities on board. We landed in Ft Lauderdale on the day before (which we usually do) and got on board at 11:15 AM. There were plenty of people to help us learn about the ship and there even was a talk about the ship on embarkation day- though it could have been better. Our luggage was delivered on time though we went to the dining room in shorts and our "special" family t-shirts. The ship is due for changes (retrofitting) and it needs it. There were places where it was showing it's age. Also, as stated before, there were no water slides which almost all ships now seem to have. The service was excellent throughout. We had some issues (like a toilet that stopped working) that were resolved quickly. There were many venues and choices of entertainment and fun that were easy to get into- even without a reservation- and the quality of the entertainment throughout the ship was excellent- especially the orchestra. My wife got sick while on board and had to see the doctor. They took good care of her, allowed her to access movies and room service without charge and even gave us something special at the end of the cruise. Our cruise critic meet and mingle was not attended by as many as should have come. The crew accommodated us and provided a couple of bottles of champaigne for prizes The food was excellent though somewhat salty at times. The menu had enough choices though only 3-4 change daily while 4-5 are served every day. I was not happy to see that you could pay more for a "premiere" steak or full lobster but understand that it would save $40-50 from going to a specialty restaurant- which we never do and don't recommend. Only Chops Grill is actually worth it if you decide to partake. Service throughout was excellent as all of our wants and needs were quickly met and our waiters and cabin personnel were very attentive. The shore excursions were a bit disappointing though the Yunke rainforest tour in Puerto Rico was excellent. The tour of St Martin could have had 1-2 more stops rather than spending 30 minutes at a shopping area. In Labadee, there were not enough trams to handle the crowd at the end of the day and my daughter-in-law and family had to hustle to get back to the ship on time. Most of my family were never on a cruise before and they had a great time. One even booked an open cruise that she can use within one year. The kids enjoyed the mini-golf, trivias, sports court and, of course the food though my 5 year old grandson chose to spend time with his parents rather than go to Adventure Ocean. He was very close to 6 but had to stay with the 3-5 year olds and was not crazy about that. The teens did not spend much time in the lounge but explored other things like the zipline and rock climbing. I always enjoy karaoke and they had that daily. It will be interesting to see the Allure after she is retrofitted and cleaned up. She is a fun ship and there wasn't as much "selling" as I was led to believe. Normally we would never have chosen such a large cruise ship but we picked this ship because of the range of activities for our daughter, our son-in-law and our grandchildren ages 6 and 8, To our surprise we enjoyed the ship as much as they did. Embarkation was smooth and easy. We picked the earliest boarding time (11:00-11:30 AM) and were on board having a buffet lunch in the Windjammer by 11:45 AM. We booked two adjoining Central Park View cabins. They were spacious and convenient to elevators, stairways and to Central Park. We loved all the dining options especially the many complimentary restaurants. We never went to the breakfast buffet because we tried a different complimentary breakfast venue every day. We especially enjoyed being able to walk downstairs to Central Park and have breakfast or a snack at the Park Café which was never crowded. Dinner in the main dining room was great. We were seated at an ocean view table which the grandchildren loved. The wait staff was super and so attentive to the kids. Always brought them a serving of fresh fruit while we checked out the dinner menu. And we always left with a plate of chocolate chip cookies for the kids to enjoy back in their room. Entertainment and activities onboard the ship were amazing. Don't miss Mamma Mia!, the Ocean Aria Aqua Show or The Blue Planet. We booked all of those online well before we boarded. We enjoyed all of the ports and booked only one shore excursion. In Saint Maarten we did the Trolley Train Tour of Philipsburg. I thought that it was not as good as advertised but my 8 year old granddaughter thought it was the best!! We did our own walking tour of Old San Juan but wished we would have had more time in that port (it was cut short by ship propulsion problems and the need to get to Labadee). Fort San Felipe del Morro, which is a National Historic Site, was amazing and not to be missed. If you have a National Park Pass or a Senior Park Pass bring it along for free admission for up to 4 people. In Labadee Haiti we enjoyed swimming and relaxing at Columbus Cove. You can take the tram or walk to Columbus Cove, but get there earlier in the day to find loungers in shaded areas. We liked that location as it was close to one of the outdoor restaurants for the barbeque lunch. Disembarking was simple. We were able to carry our own bags so we were able to leave once the ship docked. We were quickly moved through customs and were in our car driving back home by 7:30 AM I would definitely recommend this ship and itinerary to anyone planning a family reunion. There is something for everyone. And we would definitely go again! Read Less

We booked this ship because we loved her sister, the Oasis of the Seas. I was not very impressed with the activities onboard, I was very bored. The shows were amazing though. The dining was good. We ate in the American Icon most but we did eat in the other two. The food is the same in all three. I was not impressed with the service at Silk. It was slow and he was not friendly. We had an Ocean View that was actually a board walk view and the cabin was very good. The ports were awesome. I would not go on this ship again well maybe far in the future. I do reccomend sailing on Allure of the Seas. She is a beautiful ship. There is not a flaw about her. The only thing I would change is have more activities going on during the day. Every time we would go to an interesting event it would be so packed you could not even get anywhere, because there was nothing else to do. Read Less

This was not our first cruise so we have had some experience to compare it to. First let me say I was highly disappointed when they informed us we would NOT be going to St. Thomas island because one of the "pods" had a bearing that may be going bad. Really? That was just the start and the only thing that was preventing this review was the fact that I did not know how to capture soooooo many sub-par experiences in one review (plus, I really do not want to relive the experience again). It was my 25th wedding anniversary and we had the whole 18 member family on board. The boarding process was atroshes and one big cluster muck from arrival in the transport to boarding the ship. Yes, there are a lot of guests to process, but i'm guessing this isn't their first rodeo and they should have it pretty dialed in. This crew on the dock, checking luggage, processing reservations, .... seemed like a bunch of rookies. You have been going for hours and now it's lunch time, oops, sorry the WIndjammer Market isn't open yet. When they did open a half hour late it appeared they were NOT ready for the rush of hungry passengers. This made dinner even more important. Since we purchased the dinner package it should never be expected that someone should say, "Well, it's not bad for free." It wasn't free and it was 3 shades worse than bad. It was a disgrace for an upscale dinner. Oh, the food was quality, but it was never even warm when it got to the table. By night 4 I was so disgusted I said to the head waiter, "Are you experiencing difficulties with the kitchen equipment, or do you alsways serve the food cold?" I'm not kidding, cold not even luke warm. The only night we had hot food was when we skipped the dining room and went to one of the "private" restaurants on board, Chops. Lunches were just as bad in the Windjammer and if you do not remember high school lunch hours and having to find a seat and eat as quickly as you could, well, this will bring that right back to the frontal lobe. Me and 6500 other people trying to eat in a place with about 2500 seats. Breakfast and lunch were the same as dinner and were seldom warm. Example, spinach omelot was so cold that it had like a shell on it. Disgusting. I'll stay away from talking about the pools, but if this is one of the main reasons you are going- to lie by the pool? Well, you better plan to get up very early, go place a towel of a book or something on the chairs you want so when the time comes, you will have a seat. The pool? If you planned to swim, rethink that. You can sit in the pool shoulder to shoulder with a couple of hundred other guests. No room to swim. We took plenty of exursions but every one was a mad rush to get off the boat and just as bad coming back. One of trips we were to gather with several hundred other guests for an early exit off the ship so that we would be able to avoid the rush and get to the ferry boat. We went to the auditorium at 10 till 11 as ordered. We sat there after being told 10 different times that "It will just be another 10 minutes." That's right more than an hour and a half later we left the ship WITH everyone else. There was no one telling our group to go, no signs, no guides, just following the crowd. Finally, probably a mile off the dock someone starts yelling, "If you are in group 2 you need to line up here." We all lined up and stood in the bahama sun for 15 minutes. Finally we start walking and we walk for what would appear to have been 4 miles. I wouldn't have been so mad except I wasn't allowed because of age, over 45 Read Less

That was extremely disappointing. The food was fantastic nice variety. There should have been more food available late at night for alcohol consumption. The staff was great! My sheets were disgusting dirty yellow stains on sheets and pillow cases. Under the sofa and bed were dirty not cleaned. There was too many theater based activities. Loved the zip line, the pools could have been separated for adults and kids.Not big enough to hold all those people. Got smack by a child's elbow. What ever. The Jacuzzi where beautiful well done. The stores were all high end, did not accommodate middle class income. The spa was extraordinary! Well done the atmosphere was incredible The spas were too push on selling you an item. maybe suggesting is better the pushing a sale. Love the itemized bill. very accurate. Not sure about the drink package, The wait at the bars were horrible, I actually calulated a 15 minute wait. Some bar tenders were rude. One female. I felt bad for the Life Guard who has to stand guard for 1 person, dumb. but I get it. Some of the bathrooms were gross! Pee everywhere. Our dinner staff was the best and love the dancing we did with them. Everton specially, he was great serving our table, made it very enjoying. Love him The disembarkation for Bermuda was horrific. We absolutely loved our RC cruise on Allure of the Seas. There were a total of 7 of us in 3 separate rooms on 2 different floors. We had an adjoining room with our teenage daughters(rooms 7151 and 7153), interior rooms. Room 7151 had the two twin beds pushed together and a sofa bed for our teenage son. The adjoining room(7153) just had two twin beds. The rooms were as expected with ample closet space with lots of hangers, storage shelves and storage cabinets. The luggage was easily stored under the bed. There is a dim light in the bathroom that stays on all the time as this was an interior room. No need for a night light which was nice. There was an outlet with 3 slots to plug things in though no USB slots. We brought our own. Our room steward Delroy was awesome and very helpful. He brought us anything we needed(extra towels and ice). There is a small refrigerator in the room which was empty when we got there. We used it to store water bottles. The room was very quiet, yet close to the stairs and elevators. I think for next time, we would like to be on level 3(American Icon) in about the same location(forward, port side), on the Allure. The ship itself is massive! There are two partial floors that are open to the sky(Central Park, which is just like it sounds...greenery, flowers, trees and bushes, which are expertly trimmed in the early morning hours). Central Park also has Park Cafe which has convenient and quick sandwiches, wraps and breakfast items in the morning. There are several other restaurants($) on this level that we did not go to. It was always very peaceful in this area. The other partially open level is The Boardwalk. Here you will find the carousel, the donut shop, Johnny Rockets(only ate the free breakfast here and not lunch$ or dinner$), the mexican restaurant Sabor$, and the Aqua Theater. I heard the margaritas at Sabor were really good, though I never tried one. The margarita I had at one of the other bars was awful! The other main area was the Promenade(level 5), which is where all the street parties and sales happen. There are several bars, Sorentos(pizza), Cafe Promenade(coffee shop with pastries) and several shops. I believe the Rising Tide bar runs between this floor and Central Park. We signed up for “my time dining” and we had reservations every night, though we still had to wait 10-15 minutes to get a table. We dined at tables 1 and 2 with Boney(head waiter), Clestain(assistant waiter), and Dilip(table bartender) for 4 of the 7 nights. We cannot say enough nice things about this group of men. They were friendly, outgoing, accommodating and just plain fun to be around! They made our cruise feel special! They even brought us extra food before we even had a chance to ask for it. The wait staff manager for our area Mariel was friendly as well. She made a point of checking on us every night we were seated in that section. June at the hostess station remembered us after the first night and tried to accommodate our seating requests each night. We were also seated twice at tables 139 & 140 with Eugenio(head waiter) and Javen(assistant waiter). They were so nice and friendly! The food was good for the most part. An item here or there may have been a little over cooked or dry, but overall the food was really good. We loved the many choices and the “classics” food items. We ate all dinners in the main dining room on level 5. We had breakfast in the main dining room(they had buffet and a la carte), Johnny Rockets, Park Cafe and the Solarium(buffet). The eggs benedict in the MDR were excellent, as was the corned beef hash! We had lunch once in the MDR, once in the Windjammer Cafe(buffet only), a few times in the Wipe Out Cafe, and the Solarium. Our favorite bartender was Komang at the Mast Bar. We met him when we first arrived on the ship and he was our favorite throughout the trip. He mentioned that he had only been working on Allure of the Seas for two weeks! I never would have guessed that! He was awesome! After the first day, he never even asked me for my set sail pass as he remembered our room number every time. He did a great job and never complained about the heat(and it was extremely hot where he was tending bar). We also loved the casino bartenders. We did zip lining and rock climbing and watched the action at both Flow Riders. All of the crew that helped with these activities(and others I’m sure) were very encouraging, helpful and kind, whether you were 10 years old or 56 years old. We went to 4 shows and all were excellent(Blue Planet, Aqua Show, comedy show and the head liner-comedy). Comedy shows were funny and stayed away from politics. Our daughters saw Mamma Mia and loved it. I believe the ship holds about 6500 guests and 2200 crew members. The only time that we ever felt crowded was disembarkation at Nassau and getting off the pier. No other time did it feel like there were that many people on the ship. We also loved the way the photos were set up in binders with numbers. They were easy to find and somewhat easy to order. Though several of our group photos were not in the binders. I thought that the public bathrooms should have been kept cleaner. Paper and water were always on the floor and around the sinks. Embarkation was the smoothest I've ever experienced and disembarkation was a breeze as well. Read Less

This was our first cruise and our last vacation as a family. We had so much planning and money that went into this vacation knowing it would be our last. Two months before we left we got a change in itinerary that shortened our stay in Puerto Rico and Labadee due to propeller problems on the ship. I understand RC can change itinerary at any time per the contract. However, during our trip there was a medical emergency and the boat had to return to San Juan. Due to the existing propeller problem the captain told us we were unable to make it to Labadee or any other port to make up for it. They also said they were having a meeting with corporate that day to discuss compensation. It was my son's birthday and we had jet skiing, coaster rides and a beach day planned. We now had another day on the boat which was already getting old at this point having been on it for so many days with so little port time due to their initial change. We called RC when we returned and they said, sorry they are offering nothing as compensation. In the contract, it says, if changes are made due to technical issues, compensation will be made. We will never cruise Royal Caribbean due to there horrible customer service. Allure was a beautiful ship, with amazing employees working on it, who went above and beyond to try to make up for the changes. Just want to clarify my 1 star review is for Royal Caribbean, not the staff of the Allure. Unfortunately, corporate is the problem. Our servers in the dining room were amazing, Vladamir and Eduard who were so personable and knew our names and everything we liked the first day. I was a little teary eyed the last day saying goodbye. The food in the dining room was the best we have ever eaten. We were never disappointed in a meal. We felt the windjammer food was very good too. The shows were spectacular also. My husband never saw a musical and he said Mamma Mia was fabulous. The aquashow was exciting. I did not expect much from Blue Planet from the reviews I read but the whole family enjoyed that as well. Our headline show was the juggler from Americas Got Talent Charles Peachock who was spectacular and funny! When you are on a ship with 6300 guests, expect lines for things like rock climbing (1 hr long one day) and flow rider. Could not even get on the ice for ice skating since that filled up so quickly every time we went when they had open skating. My favorite part of the ship was the central park, so peaceful. We chose this cruise for our children and grandchildren. Our stop into San Juan was cut short (this was before all the problems). We only had a few hours there. Then, we never ported at their private island because of a medical problem that forced us to return to San Juan. Most ships can airlift someone off; don't know why RC did not do this. Our best port, the private island, was eliminated and we just sailed slowly back to Ft. Lauderdale. What a disappointment for the kids...no zipline, roller coaster, and ocean experiences. I wrote my disappointment to RC and got a canned response that they can change ports whenever! I think they could have given us a refund, free movies, drinks, something for our inconvenience!! Nothing!! We are gold members, but will return to Norwegian and Carnival in the future. The cabin steward and our waiters were top notch. Our balcony was large enough for the 3 of us. The movie screen was totally underutilized. We saw 3 movies on it; one was a documentary on Apollo 11....no one stayed to watch that!! I relayed my disappointment about movie choices and the fact that this could have been used day and night when there was no diving show. The diving show and the ice skating show were excellent!! Needless to say, we will not be traveling on RC in the near future. The kids and grandkids liked Carnival's food better with Guy's Burgers and BBQ. Read Less

My wife and I are RCCL and Celebrity fans, so it's painful to report on a cruise that was far below expectations. First, I should note the positives: we decided to treat our three 14-year old grandchildren to a cruise, and, after much hand wringing, elected to book all five of us in a single veranda room -- one of the very few of its type. I was impressed by how well we were able to manage. More about this below. The onboard shows were good, especially Blue Planet -- the entertainment bright spot. The Ice and Water Shows more than worth the effort to see them. To be honest, Mama Mia was a bit disapointing, though the second act was much better than the first. The teend loved the karaoke and the adults loved the disco, so we were well entertained. Likewise, the food was excellent in all the venues we visited, although Johnny Rockets was a bit disappointing. We ate in the main dining room every night, and found it excellent -- especially for this class of ship. We typically sail on Celebrity, and found the food here of equal quality on the whole. The Windjammer buffet was particulaly noteworthy. We ate there on several occassions and found it excellent for breakfast and lunch. We never ate there for dinner. We also loved the Park Cafe. Now to the drawbacks. Prior to departing, RCCL notified most cruisers (for some reason, we were not among the informed) that a propulsion issue would impact our stop at San Juan Puerto Rico, and the visit would be cut short. Anything meaningful off the ship was impossible, so we shopped in the immediate port area briefly, and resigned ourselves to the loss. Shortly after departing San Juan, the Captain announced that we were returning to port due to a medical emergency, and our last stop (Labadee) would be missed. It seems obvious to me that this lost stop was due, not so much to the emergency as the original maintenance issue. That said: safety first, so handling the emergency was and should have been a priority. What rankled was the indifference to the loss by RCCL: no offer of vouchers or other compensation. Nothing! Credit to the Cruise Director for planning replacement activities, but the last two days were still boring. A bad experience should not detract from the efforts of the crew and the general state of the ship, so my ratings for those are based how they would have been received on an typical cruise. Read Less

I just got off this cruise sailing (June 16th-23rd) and will start by saying WOW!! Where can I start. I booked this cruise as a Father’s Day and daughter cruise which not only blew me away, but made my daughter happier then ever. From the food to entertainment, I couldn’t of asked for a better experience. The shows were beyond amazing. I did see their Aqua Theater show Ocean Aria three times out of the first three nights, I did see Mamma Mia but wish I saw it a second time, Blue Planet twice which was amazing. The Juggling Act of Charles Peachock which is a cant miss. Overall for entertainment, this in my opinion was far above suburb. The food on board was great, buffets were stocked and well organized, I didn’t really experience the sit down locations, since there is so much to do and my daughter was a picky eater. Everything from the burgers ya Wipe Out Cafe to the ice cream poolside was worth the “weight gain” on the ship. The service overall was excellent. Despite a(n) medical emergency which caused our experience to miss Labadee, Haïti where I was excited for our excursion, the crew/staff really held their ground and still made this trip standout. I was disappointed, but coming from a position where I work in hospitality/Guest Services, I understand safety is a priority and need to accept it. I wanted to personally mention The cruise Director, Jimmy Rhodes along with other members of the staff, for balancing out a great experience throughout the week we had. I also wanted to give Captain Ron a huge thank you for his professionalism during the issue that took place and still made this experience outstanding The pool/recreation was great, so many pools (about 4 along with 6-8 whirlpools) made the crowd spread out so it didn’t cause the pool deck to feel clogged. The activities poolside were fun and entertaining, the mini golf, ice skating, flow rider all are great for the kids. The weather was great so it made it worth it being poolside. Finally, the overall service was a solid 10/10. I’m not one to typically write a solid review, but this made me realize why this cruise line the only one I will sail with. The only flaw I experienced which honestly wasn’t a huge issue, was communication in the in-room phone was delayed and no one answered within an reasonable time. That didn’t stop my daughter who’s 6, and myself from having a great time. I hope to those who booked this cruise and are reading this, take this as an example of what you’ll experience. We have taken our granddaughters on a cruise every summer for the past 10 years. This was our second time with them on the Allure and they loved every minute onboard! These large ships offer a lot of activities for teens ( they are 15 and 17) and as grandparents, we can keep busy doing our thing knowing they are having a wonderful time. We loved the RC app that allowed us to keep in touch, since we never purchase Wi-Fi on the ship. It's annoying to see so many people who "stay connected" on their phones all day instead of enjoying all the ship has to offer.The Allure is beautiful, just big enough without being overwhelming and the crew is exceptional. I needed medical attention for the first time ever in all my 50+ cruises. Nothing major, just a cut that needed a few stitches. I couldn't get over the facility--fully equiped and efficient. We had a balcony overlooking the Boardwalk. Fun watching the Aqua Show from our room. The food in Americon was perfectly fine. We have a vegetarian granddaughter who is fussy and she ate every V meal offered on the nightly menu and loved them. Even though we have seen all the shows (this was our 3rd Allure sailing), we love Mama Mia, Blue Planet and the Ice Show. They never disappoint! We are Casino Royal Prime, so drinks are free. We are a little disappointed that Video Poker machines in a bank to the left of the bar have been replaced by slot machines (that were always empty) since that's our game of choice but we managed to win and lose and have fun, just the same! Our first cruise ever was on our 25th wedding anniversary in 2002 on the Soveriegn of the Seas. My DW and I had never been treated so good. We did 2 other sailings with RCL as well as 2 with Disney, 2 with MSC, 1 with Princess. For this year's cruise we wanted to get back on RCL, so we booked the Allure. Never having been on a "Mega-Ship" we had concerns. We did our homework on the ship. DW and I watched TONS of You Tube videos (Thanks to all that posted!) and I studied the deck plans so we both felt comfortable with moving around on board. WELL ....... the ship was much larger than we could have imagined and even with all our homework we thought "Oh No, we're gonna be lost!" Not the case. Moving about the ship was so simple! The ship is simply beautiful! We loved the "Neighborhood" concept. We booked a Boardwalk Cabin with a great view of the Aqua Theater so we could see the show anytime we liked! John, our cabin steward was AWESOME!!! He treated us like we were the only people in his section! We absolutely loved him! The room itself was great plenty of storage space. Also I let RCL know that I had a CPAP for my sleep apnea and they had an extension cord and a gallon of distilled water for me to use during the cruise.How great is that?! The food was FANTASTIC and our wait staff of Andre(the giant) our assistant waiter, Marlon(Brando) our waiter and Aton(no nickname) our head waiter were absolutely wonderful! We were never in need of anything, anything we wanted we got! They were also just plain great to be around! Wonderful people. RCL's entertainment is top notch. Ocean Aria, Mamma Mia, Earl Turner (Headliner), Blue Planet and Ice Games ...... ALL AMAZING! We also went to comedy live and never laughed that hard in quite awhile! The entertainment staff is funny, engaging and just plain FUN!! Jimmy Rhodes (Cruise Director) and Flavio (Activities Manager) are the best! Jamezy and BeBe are great! We've never had that much fun playing trivia!!! Ice Skating in Studio B, The pools, hot tubs and "The Current" (not giving that one away), rock climbing wall, zip line sport court miniature golf, Flow Rider total thumbs up! The service is simply off the chart! The staff on RCL just can't do enough for you. Cristan (bartender at Sorrento's) and Iris (bartender at the Pool bar) are just the greatest! Other cruise lines do these same types of things and, although I've had good experiences with other lines, it's RCL's people and Customer Service that set it well apart from all the rest! My husband, daughter and I just got off of the Allure on Sunday. We had the best time on this beautiful ship. Everyone from the cabin steward (Norman, room 6280) to our waiters (too many to mention) to the nice people that we met, including a family that lives about 10 mins from us, was wonderful. Our room (ocean view balcony) was very roomy and we had plenty of room to store all of our clothes and "stuff". There were 3 adults in the room, so we thought that would be difficult, but to our surprise, it wasn't at all. The shows were fabulous as well. We saw "Ocean Aria" and the comedy show (twice) as well at the headliner show. We didn't get to Mama Mia though and I'm sorry that we didn't. The pool games were all fun and the staff was energetic and entertaining. We thought the cruise director was very good and fun too. We especially loved him dancing in the "70's show" on the Promenade. All of the food was very good as well. We had my time dining and enjoyed different locations with different waiters every night. The buffet was delicious, hot and diverse too. We enjoyed all of the ports, but Labadee the most. We did the Orient Beach/Maho Beach excursion at St. Maarten and the traffic was a nightmare. We probably wouldn't do that again. We just shopped and walked around a bit (in the drizzle ) in San Juan. Getting on and off of the ship was a breeze too. We did expedited dis-embarking so we could pack our "beauty aids" with us in the morning and it wall went as smooth as clock work. Really the only thing that we didn't like, was having to say good-bye to this fabulous ship, but we will definitely be back. Read Less
