Chose this cruise based on dates (need specific dates when traveling with teachers and kids), ship, and cost. We also looked at Allure and Rhapsody. Rhapsody was too small and not enough for the kids and Allure was more expensive. We traveled with three families total (6 adults and 6 kids, ages 7,8,9,9,10,12). We all had interior rooms on deck 8 (8445, mine, 8457, and 8469). Rooms we as to be expected, small yet manageable. I was actually pleasantly surprised how easily 4 fit in one small room. Before we got on the ship we stayed in an Airbnb in Weston, FL. It was nice to be away from the Ft. Lauderdale and Miami crowd. We went to Everglades Holiday Park and enjoyed seeing gators in their natural habitat and the kids each got to hold a baby gator. Embarkation was as expected. Lot of traffic getting to the Port. Once in, the lines weren't too bad. Dining in the Main Dinning Room was great. We signed up for My Time Dinning and made reservations for the whole week. This ensured that we had the same wait staff, but weren't restricted to eating at 5:30 or 8:00. Our nightly reservation was at 6:00, except on one night, which was 8:00 since the ship didn't leave port until 7. We had two in our party with allergies (gluten and dairy). Our wait staff did an excellent job of making sure we were able to order what we wanted and have it prepared to suite our dietary needs, even if the menu did not indicate it to be gluten or dairy free. The wait staff also did a great job with the kids. They gave them different logic puzzle to figure out each night. It kept the kids entertained quiet. Dinning in the Windjammer was a little less than I expected. Our last cruise, in 2017, had a whole section of gluten free options (sandwiches, cookies, desserts, pastas, etc) but Adventure only had 1-2 breads and 1-2 desserts. I was told I could ask anyone wearing a white shirt to get special orders of GF, but because my allergy is not severe I just picked things I knew to be GF and didn't bother with asking. Kids club was hit and miss. The two youngest loved kids club and asked to go back repeatedly. The middle three did not care for it, saying the activates were too "baby" and they didn't have the option to sit out. They only went twice. The oldest was in a group by herself, but was able to go to the middle age club, when they went. For the most part the activities and entertainment were excellent. There was not a Broadway show, as there is on other RC ships, but the shows were good nonetheless. The Fire and Ice show was great! I am always amazed all they are able to do on such small sheet of ice. My biggest complaint of the cruise was the "Sexiest Man Competition" held at the main pool in the middle of the day. This was completely inappropriate to have in front of children. The men were conducting lap dances to receive the title of sexiest man. Even when I had my kids stop watching and go back to swimming the competition was broadcast on the big movie screen for all to see. RC really should have put a stop to the crude behavior, but instead they were encouraging it. Read Less

We just returned from a Caribbean Cruise on Saturday, March 30. The staff was wonderful - attentive, kind, welcoming...all you could hope for. As usual when this many people are being served, the food is fair. They do the best they can given the limitations and the massive number of people they are serving. It seems healthier options are gradually moving in. Our balcony room was lovely and had enough room for our needs. We had a junior suite and were surprised to find a walk in closet! Prior to booking this trip we had done as much checking as possible - online cruise forums, speaking with folks at RCI, etc - to be sure that the children's program on board accommodates children with special needs. We narrowed our decision down to a Royal Caribbean Cruise vs a Disney Cruise. In the end, it seemed the quality was comparable but the Royal Caribbean won since it was less expensive and we had cruised on their ships twice before (without kids) and were happy overall. We now regret the decision. We had been assured by Royal Caribbean agents that the childcare staff is all trained for dealing with children with special needs and there is even a program for autistic kids, though it was vague. As the cruise date came closer I tried harder to get specific information about what accommodations are made for children with special needs, including what the ratio is and could not get a clear answer but kept getting assured that the kids would be well cared for. Both of our kids have special needs, but our 6 year old son in particular is impulsive and hyperactive. He has to be well supervised. Our group was counting on having at least one hour per day of a break from him. Here is what happened: 1) my travel agent was told by someone at RCI the day before departure that upon arrival we needed to check in with guest services to get us set up as a special needs family. 2) upon arrival, we went straight to the guest services desk, waiting in line for about 20 minutes with a very hyperactive, impulsive and agitated child (!!) only to be told that guest services doesn't handle that at all. I insisted, but then an assistant manager who said he'd been managing that desk for about 15 years told me that absolutely the guest services folks have nothing at all to do with special needs accommodations. Then he said that someone would come to our room to do a private drill so that the crowds wouldn't be too upsetting for our son. That was nice, but not super helpful since we then had to sit in a lounge with NOTHING TO DO while the rest of the passengers were undergoing the drill and our son was spinning out of control from boredom. It was a very stressful way to begin our trip. 3) we headed straight up to Adventure Ocean where we met very nice people, shared our specific issues/concerns about our son. They said there would be no problem handling him but would give us a phone to contact us in case there was a problem. They then informed us that their ratio was a surprising 1:25! My adult kids who didn't have any sensory or behavioral issues would have come undone in that chaotic of an environment. I said that our son in particular needs a lot of supervision and we had been told that they can handle special needs and...what about autistic kids? Surely they can't have autistic kids in that kind of environment. They assured us that they have planned activities and all would be well. 4) the next day (2nd day of our cruise) we took the kids into Adventure Ocean but had to WALK THROUGH A VERY LOUD AND OVERSTIMULATING ARCADE to get in there. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE thing to do to any family, but most of all special needs kids - the sensory overload was not a good way to enter the children’s program. We arrived to a scene that was so chaotic and disorderly that it looked frightening frankly. While standing there trying to assure my kids that they would in fact have fun, two children bumped into each other and neither adult in charge witnessed it because there were nearly 50 kids in the tiny space with only 2 adults - one of them frantically trying to check people in and out and the other ONE PERSON (!!) was trying to manage all of the children in the two sections of the space. It was really a crazy scene. I pushed through, thinking I'm overly sensitive and all of these other parents have left their kids so it must be okay. The child whose head got bumped was crying so hard he was hyperventilating but no one could take the time to comfort him. He looked about 8 or 9 years old. The child who bumped into him was clearly ashamed, feeling like he'd done something wrong and was in a corner in a sort of fetal position looking so disturbed and vulnerable. But again, no one could possibly take the time to comfort him and handle the situation. I stood there for a while and in the end both boys were just encouraged to get back in the ball game but neither looked at all comfortable or happy about playing anything. The boy who was crying was asking to see his parents. I don't know if the caregivers even heard him. 5) I stupidly left both of my kids in there for about 45 minutes and when we picked them up the place was still so chaotic we never went back. 6) we NEEDED this cruise to play but also to relax a bit. We didn't relax at all except for the one hour we had massages booked and our older daughters took care of the kids. We were counting on getting some relief from the kids and them having some fun organized activities, but that did not happen. 7) I complained to the Adventure Ocean manager by phone on the 3rd day, hoping that there was possibly some other program for kids who are sensitive, but nope. The only thing she said was that we could be let in the back door so the overstimulating arcade could be avoided. And she said that on port days the children's program has fewer kids. We took our kids out to enjoy islands on port days! So that's not helpful. We ended up having a very stressful experience on board. I am writing to let others know that at least on this ship, they don't have any sort of accommodations for special needs kids. And secondly, to have an adult to child ratio of 1:25 doesn’t even adequately meet the needs of typical children, in my opinion and from what I observed with my own eyes that day. My kids refused to go back there to try another day and they are kids who usually are game for any kind of adventure and fun. If I had even been told that the ratio was 1:25 we would have gone ahead and paid the extra to go on a Disney Cruise for fewer days. It is dangerous even to have ratios that high. After writing a letter to RCI, I received a phone call from someone who said they read my letter, thanked me for my feedback and suggestions, and have a nice day. Disappointing response for sure. At the very least, they need to have it posted where parents are able to see on their website when shopping for a cruise, that their ratio is 1:25. That information should not be impossible to learn until boarding the ship. Read Less

We chose this cruise due to date "spring break" and location. It was my son, 13yo and me traveling alone. We wanted something close to home and a chose a cruise since we wanted to stick to a pre-set budget so we pre-paid all our gratuities, excursions etc. We had a few ship sailing options from Miami and Ft Lauderdale in the end we chose this ship because the itinerary was more interesting for my son and it was right on budget. We had no issues with arrival/departure or baggage delivery as we were local and had carry-on bags. We checked-in later in the day somewhere around 3pm so our cabin was also ready upon arrival. DINING- After unpacking and ensuring everything was ok in the cabin we headed out to the PROMENADE CAFE where we had an afternoon snack daily. They had a nice variety of food choices daily. The wait times here varied based on time of day, but was fast moving and fortunately we never had an issue finding seats (time of day we went, I guess). The only critical feedback is that the bussing was slow and there was no area for one to self bus thus giving an unkempt look and presenting issues with seating. COFEE BAR - Adjacent to Promenade Cafe - wait times can vary, busier during morning hours. Service was good and coffee was good. I recommend buying the Coffee Pass which allows you up to 15 premium selections throughout the sailings (note; Fraps count as 1). MAIN DINING ROOM - This is my pet peeve. We booked this cruise in advance, as I stated just my son and I traveling, we confirmed MAIN Dining 8pm and Table of 6 - we wanted to meet and socialize with other cruisers. First evening on our way to dining room we come to find out that we now have MY TIME DINING When did this change? Why weren't we told? Everything, all of my documents, which I had with me, even at time of online check-in when I verified dining again we showed dining noted as Main Dining 8pm Table of 6. So here we are 1st night, having to make a tedious long line for dinner, we are finally seated near 9pm and in a Table for 2 - this is all they can give us they said. The waiter Brian, not great, mediocre. The assistant waiter, Charmaine, was graciously charming and all smiles, happy to serve, she made up for what Brian lacked. After our first nights dinner we spoke to the Maitre'D to discuss our dining mishap, he was not able or willing to honor my confirmed dining preferences, all he could do was book us reservations for 8:15pm the remaining of the week for the same TABLE OF 2. Next day, I went to guest services to see about getting this changed, and again they said there was nothing they could do. So please be ware, and when you check-in at the Pier immediately review your SEA PASS for dining accuracy, unfortunately, I failed to do that, lesson learned! To make matters worse, Charmaine, unfortunately, was sick most of the week so we were left with back-up assistant waiters and the boring Brian who it seemed was always rushing about, we were fortunate to get her back on our last night. We made the best of dining, and friended our neighboring tables of 2, together we had an informal table of 6, ha! It is however funny and sad, that each evenings conversation included a discussion of the "service" mood for the evening. The first parties would warn the others of what to expect. All of us also felt rushed at dining. As the evenings went on, I connected the dots and associated this "rushed" sensation to the MY TIME DINING, of course it makes sense, you have tables coming in (of all sizes) at all times, the wait staff is going crazy and unfortunately not able to give their full attention equally to all, or is it that the quiet, bashful table of 2's get lost amongst the bigger and louder parties? That said, I don't recommend My Time Dining to anyone, instead, on the nights you need flexibility visit the WINDJAMMER CAFE, here we found the service and the food options EXCEPTIONAL, even at peak morning hours. Oh before I forget, food quality in the Main Dining room was as expected it was good with great variety from night-to-night. SHIP - Overall it was fine. Few things I would like to mention. The running deck is on the main pool deck, if you are a runner you need to come out here early when not crowded or go and use deck 4. Seriously why do cruise lines always do that? Place the running deck on the most crowded deck and often times windier deck too. The gym was very good. I used it daily. The equipment was in good condition and gym goers wiped after themselves and re-racked weights. I didn't partake in classes, but I did use the treadmills, ellipticals, rowers, free weights and some machines. I didn't visit the casino or bars or shops, so cannot speak to them. Pool/Towels - In my opinion they should have more than 1 towel station, it is located on the main pool deck in a very crowded area. If you are lounging in the upper decks you need to go down 2-decks to get/return towel. Another station, even if only part of day, would I think benefit cruisers. ACTIVITIES- FREE Recreation on board was fun, there was putt-putt, ping-pong, sports deck, rock climbing & slides. With regards to the sports deck and ping-pong, there are lots of hoarders that will take the ball and keep it for a very long time, we only got to use the basketball 10-minutes before the teenagers ran us off the court to play a double court game. For ping pong we often had to wait 30+ minutes to get a table as the unsupervised kids would just keep playing and other kids would keep joining. I think that RCCL can do much better, maybe require guests to check-out the SPORTS equipment and provide a sign-up sheet this way EVERYONE has a chance. I can tell you when my family had the ping-pong table we would play one-game and then share with any other family waiting. We would play one game, they would play one game, then winners would play each other. I didn't see enough of that, very disappointing. The slides were fun, I would go later in the day when the wait time had dropped off. We did not partake in rock climbing, when I remembered it was there, it was too late they were closing up and it was last day of sailing. We did not partake in surfing as that involved an additional fee and well we live in Florida and travel to Southern California yearly. TEEN PROGRAM - I was looking forward to this, but was disappointed. My son is shy, he is an only child, quick to make friends with Adults but with other kids he needs a little more time, so the couple of times I did get him to the Optix lounge there was no one there. It seems that most of the teen activities are un-supervised, there was a calendar of events but not too much explanation of what the events were, so when we went around to inquire no one could help us. The other teens seemed to be traveling with large families and groups so they had the advantage, I really recommend that cruise lines maybe offer SINGLE FAMILIES or FAMILIES in general a couple of social meet/greet nights, they do this for target markets which included the older teens 18-21, Adult Single Cruises, LGBTG and others. TRIVIAS and misc activities were fun but some hosts were better than others. Seriously if you have a Harry Potter Trivia make sure the person running the show has seen the movies and knows how to pronounce the questions. CABIN- We booked the lowest inside cabin available at the time and I was very happy with our cabin and our service. We were assigned a cabin on deck 6 overlooking the promenade. Our cabin attendant was friendly and brought us ice daily. We unfortunately only received a cabin towel animal on the last night :-( EXCURSIONS- We pre-booked our excursions, they were as to be expected. The tour providers were all great and kept to schedule. The only feedback here was the towel service. You have to get your towel before leaving and it wasn't clearly communicated how/where. Additionally it was different every day, wouldn't it be simplest to have teams dispatching towels in the same place every day? The last stop was the best organized where they handed out the towels right on the pier after getting off the ship. ON BOARD COMMUNICATION AND APP- I downloaded the app, have used similar on other cruise lines, I thought this would enable me to communicate with my son during the cruise, it does not!!! There was no way for him to download it too unless he had an e-mail account and additionally there wasn't a feature to communicate with your cabin mates and/or other friends on board. People, you don't have WIFI on board, how else can you communicate with your family and children? Yes you can purchase wifi- but why, we wanted to, and needed to disconnect. I saw other families using walkie-talkie type of devices, wish I would have known, now you know. Also the app didn't show any of the TEEN or KID CLUB options, so again, very hard to know what was going on in those areas. The app also defaulted to "recommended" every time I had to go and select to "see all" you can also filter by type of activity (e.g. Dining, Entertainment). ENTERTAINMENT - mediocre. Not impressed, the only hi-light was a comedian on board and a comedian/musician. Read Less

We recently returned from a cruise to the Western Caribbean with Royal Caribbean on Adventures of the Seas. We traveled with my daughter, son-in-law and 4 grandchildren ages 15, 12,10 and 8. The whole experience was fantastic. We first spent two days in Fort Lauderdale at the beach and took an airboat ride through the Everglades. We stayed at the Ocean Mile Motel which was an older place but very nice and within walking distance to the beach. The owner of the Motel was an awesome young man that made sure our ever need was met. We had rented a car at the airport and turned it in near Port Everglades which provided a shuttle to the cruise port. Once there we were able to board and I was surprised at how smoothly boarding the ship went. Shortly after being on the ship we were able to go to our stateroom which was very nice sized as we had two of our grandchildren in our room. The food on the ship was superb. Our waiter in the main dining was Roberto and he did above and beyond to serve us and meet our needs. Our first port was Falmouth, Jamaica where we did the Dunn's River excursion. I highly recommend this as it was beautiful and so much fun. The next day was Grand Cayman where we did a Dolphin swim and a trip to Stingray City both were so memorable for all of us and l will never forget the look on my grandkids faces as they petted stingrays. Costa Maya was next and we took a van to a beach area and had drinks at the Krazy Lobster 2.00 beer and 5.00 margarita's nice beach area with lounge chairs, and shopping near by last port was Cozumel and we used the Cozumel Activities just outside the port area who took us to a resort beach area where we could snorkel and swim for 25.00 a person which included the snorkel gear. Our driver was awesome and made sure we got back to the ship in plenty of time. The entertainment on our ship was fantastic; two different comedians, a Spainish gaucho who had a very funny, entertaining act, an ice show in the ice rink, great music and dancing by the cruise ship entertainers. My grandkids never lacked for things to do and they didn't even spend anytime in the kids programs which were plentiful. All in all would highly recommend it. Read Less

Another great cruise on RCL. We had a four night dining package which may or may not have been excessive;) Kids liked Adventure Ocean and Optix, the teen club. Great service from all we encountered! I was worried we wouldn’t like this ship as much after taking two trips on the Harmony but I was pleasantly surprised and reminded of why people sometimes choose smaller ships- ease of getting around! The pools were never too busy and the kids area wasn’t ever too crowded for my kids. They loved the flow rider and the water slides. I’m glad RCL has added those slides to even these smaller ships. This is the second time we have done this itinerary, four stops in a row with 8 days total. It’s my favorite... now we are ready to go longer than 8 days!! The food everywhere was great, in my opinion. The pastry chefs knew what they were doing! Chops Grille needs more kid friendly options for appetizers though. All the servers in the main dining room and specialty restaurants were so kind to my girls, it was very sweet. All in all I would 100% recommend this cruise to anyone. Read Less

Everything was seamless- the boat was easy to navigate, crew went above an beyond to ensure a great experience. Our inside stateroom was perfect for the two of us... many storage compartments and beds and pillows were super comfortable. Many activities for teens. Entertainment was either very good or disappointing but the parties and outdoor movies were great. Food was delicious in both dining rooms. Valentines was celebrated with a fantastic chocolate buffet. I truly appreciated how the staff encourages people to wash hands. Issues: the app isn’t reliable , announcements can’t be heard in the cabin, smoking areas are not located in great areas..... casino stinks of smoke and the smoking area on deck 11 is too close to the doors and towel station... several of the staff at the customers service desk were not fluent in English which led to mistakes and misunderstandings. Our stateroom assistant was outstanding.... he couldn’t do more for us. Read Less

I just came back from Adventure Of The Seas ... It was my first cruise and it was amazing from the beginning to end ! ... Getting on the ship in Cape liberty was quick ... We got on the ship at 11 by 1 our bags were at the rooms already .. I had a balcony room it was a nice size for two people it had a little couch also and a makeup area. The balcony was my favorite I would deff recommend to get one ... The pool area was beautiful plenty of bars the drinks were excellent!! I don’t drink a lot so I only got the refreshment package but I will deff be getting the alcohol next time .. coco cay is so nice there’s everything on it ... chairs everywhere to sit or u can upgrade and spend money on a cabana .. We did the jet ski tour it was well worth !! The boat brings ur lunch on the beach which was cool and that’s Royal Caribbean’s island so all the drinks were free if u had the package there’s all little huts and hair braiding there’s even a bar in the water ... Florida we went went to the beach with the shuttle it brought us right there and right back bet relaxing... Nassau we did the Belmont island and that was gorgeous!!! It rained on an off but it was still insanely nice the only water you can see crystal clear there was two pools optional swim with dolphins ... the only thing is the food and drinks where a little expensive but we got a few drinks and went back to the boat to eat when we were done ...The main dining room was delicious the waiter Ramil and he’s helper Pablo was the best and the room cleaner edy was great to ...The food was great every day and we did the buffet at the windjammer which had everything... I went with a group of people I am 24 and the ages were 24 to 70 andWe all had a great time it’s a family boat , single people will have a good time and a lot for kids everyone there is something for .... the shows and game shows are awesome ... !I already booked my second one !!! Chosen for port of Embarkation and cost. Unfortunately, with everyone telling me how great cruises are, etc. It set a level of expectation that I didn't feel was met. The soups were too salty, the Omelette station was too slow, worse since there were two people preparing them and then oiling the pan AND spraying it. The Cafe Promenade which catered to the out of hours dining rooms featured pizza, tea sandwiches and salads. But Ni's winning smile was worth the trip. The schedule should have been given for the entire length of the cruise instead of daily. It would help you plan your itinerary better when there was an overlap, which forced you to sometimes make the wrong decision if you didn't think you'd get a second opportunity, It seemed kind of silly that the photography gallery was inaccessible when the cash registers weren't open. It's obviously for upselling purposes but if I could have the opportunity to review my images on MY time I might have purchased more, I hate being rushed. The drink and wi-fi sales the last two days were last minute marketing gimmicks which was a waste of time. It might help those of us who don't drink enough to justify a drink package, especially if your partner doesn't drink. Read Less

Wow, the phrase: "You Have Got to be Kidding" came out a lot. This was our first RC cruise and didn't know what to expect. For starters, the RC website was cumbersome to use, having to log in multiple times on one session was annoying. I uploaded id photos a number of times and looks like they finally were accepted, only to have our pictures taken again at check-in. We really liked the touch-screen maps on the ship, they were helpful. I wish they had rolled out the app for all of their ships, it's a great feature on the Carnival ships. The major disappointment was the food we received in the dining room, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Our dinner table mates, who have taken RC before, also mentioned the food was bland and not up to their usual standards. Breakfast on the first sea day, the buffet/a-la-carte was new to us and we did the a-la-carte. the server gave my wife a hard time, because she ordered things that could be obtained from the buffet, why have a menu? We're on a nice cruise and didn't want to deal with a server giving us attitude, we can get that at home. She was giving others a hard time too. The first three dinners the food was BLAND at best (color, taste, texture), we expected to be blown away by the food. A highlight was the Cafe Promenade, it was quick and everything but the pizza was good. Though we only ate lunch in the dining room once, it was equally sad. It wasn't until the fourth night that we actually got a good meal, we got in late due to recuperating from a shore excursion, so we did the my time dining and got a great serving team. Karl helped us order off menu and we got the Indian vegetarian meal that the crew gets. It was the bomb and ordered the Indian vegetarian the rest of the trip (definitely not bland). The fitness center was great, one downside was if you showed up at 6:00 am, you couldn't get a locker until 7:30. Also, there wasn't any water to take to-go. Had to go, all sweaty, to the Cafe Promenade on deck 5 to get a glass of water. Also enjoyed the skating show and the piano bar. We were very pleased about the clientele, especially since it was spring break. we appreciated the way the ship manages children's entertainment, it was much better than expected. I hope that this experience is not an indication of the standard service that the Royal Caribbean brand will now be providing. Check in was a nightmare. New policies about who can and can't check in are in effect and not communicated. If traveling with a minor in a separate cabin if they do not ajoin and the adult in the room with the minor has not checked in, you have to wait until they do check in before the minor can check in despite traveling. Of course the flight of the adult was delayed but luckily we were able to switch the minor to a different room to at least get her aboard the ship then switched her back after the adult arrived. If we knew having adjoining rooms would have satisfied this then we would have booked those room types or traveled all together. This was the slowest and worst check in I have ever experienced. Waiting for the elevator just to get to the room was totally ridiculous. Cabins...we had cabins were on decks 7 and 8 midship. Outside balconies and interior rooms with a view of the decks below. The rooms were nice and our stateroom attendant Damain was great! And very attentive. Rooms availability upon boarding was a big plus. Not having to wait around in the Windjammer with carry on luggage and backpacks was really nice. Dinner...dispite linking all of our reservations for 8:30 dinner the dining room was totally clueless that our group of 19 wanted to be seated together or even next to each other. And we couldn't be seated until 9pm and didn't get food until almost 10pm. Dinner seating got better in the main dining room as the cruise progressed but by then we found alternatives. Two dinner dining highlights were the Murder Mystery Dinner at Giovanni's Table courtesy of our waiter Mohammed and dinner on day 5 at Chops Grill made amazing by our waiter Igor! But on the last night of the cruise 6 other members of our parry went to Chops and sat for 40 minutes with no service at all. After they walked the host and maitre'd apologized and offered to comp the meal if they came back in but the experience was already ruined and they went to the main dining room at our regular dining time. Windjammer...Breakfast...as to be expected getting a table on sea days was an exercise in patience and restraint but the Adventure of the Seas offered room service which we opted to get on the second sea day to avoid the issues we had on the first all day at sea. The food arrived within the time window but the order form says indicate the amount of food you wish to order. This is where things get lost in translation...we wanted 4 pancakes but what we got was 4 orders of pancakes. We wanted 3 scrambled eggs but what we got was three orders of 2 scrambled eggs. The bacon had the number 3 beside it so we ordered 2 orders expecting 6 bacon strips we got a pile of bacon on each of the three orders of eggs. The order form is definitely needs to be clarified. Excursions...we had 4 originally then one was canceled days before we set sail. No issue because we were refunded the money. BUT when our excursion tickets were delivered we were missing some and others had different times so we had to change all the time to make sure the group stayed together. The excursions we picked overall were fun but the Helmut Dive in Aruba was great but if we had known that this was an activity island after paying for the most expensive activity we would have liked to stay longer to enjoy the entire facility. As it was we left late because we were waiting for 1 person who didn't show up, the ferry wasn't there by the time we arrived or departed so we lost an hour of our onsite excursion time easily which was disappointing. The Amazing Race excursion in St. Maarten was a little hectic. They suggested that we have 10 to 12 people on each team which did not work well. Our team consisted of people who did the excursion before with teams of four people and they preferred that experience over this one. However after that we relaxed on the beach and went jet skiing which was great. Kids Club/Teen Club We had an 11 year old (her fourth cruise) and 12 year old (first time cruiser) with us and usually Kids Club is the highlight of the cruise. But not this year. Everytime they went to the Teen Club for an activity that was on the schedule there was no one in the area. The girls were so disappointed that they gave up going to the club. Guest Services...I was on a line either at Guest Services or Shore Excursions 4 times the first day. After that, I was at Guest Services at least twice a day every day for the entire cruise. Pools...small and jammed packed. If you didn't get a spot by 9am then your weren't going to get a spot until 5pm when the 6pm diners left to get ready for dinner. Bars....service at all the bars was meh! Most of us had the ultimate beverage package but the drink of the day was NOT included ...um so the all included package was not really ALL inclusive. We were also disappointed that there was no "happy hour" like we experienced on the Anthem. Entertainment..if there was something interesting and actually occurring for the teens durning the time the "adult only" activities was going on then maybe the adult activities wouldn't have had so many kids in the audience or as participants. The Blue Moon Bar/night club was fun but the 80's party was more like a 80's, 90's and 2000's party. And the music was defininately repeated on other nights despite the theme so it was kind of one note. The silent party was interesting and fun but that was one hour at night twice during the sailing. Where were the shows or comedians for the late dining crowd? It felt like there were limited options once the 8:30pm dinner session was over. 10pm no shows or entertainment only a deejay or live band in the middle of a set. On the last night durnign the farewell show they was a comedian who did an adult show later on that evening but one show on the last night of the cruise was too little too late. The cupcake decoration class was cute but not well advertised. We stumbled across it. In general the onboard activities seem to be scarce. There were two formal nights, an 80's party and white party which if we would have known about prior to getting on board we would have packed clothes to attend the events. Overall this year's family trip with 20 of us was fun and we enjoyed ourselves but this experience with Royal Caribbean was far below our expectations for the brand. We will stick to all inclusive resorts that are used to larger parties when we travel with more than 6 people. Or maybe we will try the larger ships. Read Less

We wanted to do the southern Caribbean especially the island of Bonaire. Boarding was fast however the photos uploaded did not load to their system. Also we were unable to sign the waivers online like previously. Very annoying. The room was normal and nothing special. The dining room menu had many items repeating night to night. Shrimp cocktail and no sugar added apple pie and several other items recurred nightly. The food temperature was also slightly above warm. The Windjammer had a huge selection and the same items appeared everymorning. Always a strawberry smoothie no other flavors, same granola with apple and yogurt. No variation. Did not offer Tomato juice had to ask for it. Then at the pool bar is limited for alcoholic drinks. They no longer use island Oasis drink mix but rather use cream and ice and flavoring from another company. They have a limited menu and would appreciate a large list of frozen drinks / island drinks. The drink of the day is also on the weak side. Entertainment was ok. Casino was smokey. It was decent but nothing at all exceptional. Read Less

Initially recommended by to me by a friend, they made us aware of Royal Caribbean and the great selection of cruises available. The overall cruise experience superseded my expectations. The destinations were a great selection of Caribbean islands to visit. The onboard entertainment and organised events like the ice skating shows and musicals were fantastically organised and choreographed, the food (both buffet and a la carte) were excellent standard and the service was truly second to none. We found the ship to be incredibly clean. Our cabin was tidied and cleaned twice daily. The facilities were clean. The staff across the ship went over and above expected levels to make our cruise experience a special experience. The staff also made a big effort with our children and made their experience a special one also. It was a truly wonderful week made better by the service levels given to all guests on board. Overall this trip may have been my favorite cruise on Royal Caribbean. One thing I really liked is that we went down to San Juan a day before our ship left to get a full day 1 of our cruise. We stayed at the Hampton Inn and had good service. The next morning at 11:00 we left our hotel and got an Uber. You can not get on the ship before 12:00. Because we are Emerald members we got to skip the big embarkation line. The ship had been recently updated with a FloRider and waterslides. The fun waterslides had a clear plastic part so you could see over the ocean. Everything was very clean and updated to a modern level. We had better entertainment on Oasis and Allure, but the comedians were very good. As always, the food was spectacular and came in great portions. On my 4 cruises with Royal Caribbean, I have never seen a unhappy crew member. They are all so nice! I would never go to a different cruise line. But I would gladly go again! Read Less

I think that the Adventure of the Sea is beautiful cruise and the employees were super kind and attentive my cabin was always kept super clean, we love the way we were treated specially at the Dining great service thanks to Rosalino, Dianah and the rest of the crew. The entertainment and activities were super fun I think there was a little bit for everyone. I was amazed on how fast and easy we embaked and diembarked the service in general was an A+. My only regret is that Royal Caribbean was mostly an all inclusive type of cruise were only few things were to be paid seprately like pictures package, liquor, island excursions.... I disagree there were that enough water station or having to pay for drinking water and the internet should be free. It was really had to get anything to drink unless you buy your drinking package with I found to be too expensive. Read Less

The activities on the ship were well run, and a lot of fun. They did have a great balance of events in types in both English and Spanish. The ports we went to were great in the south-east Caribbean, and we were docked at each of them. The excursions we did through the ship were great values and a ton of fun. We did two of them and both were well run as well. The dinner service was excellent, and they went out of their way to meet our needs. I was pleasantly surprised with the buffet (Windjammer cafe) whose food was excellent for all meals during the day! The few issues we had were the main dining room's (sapphire) breakfast food and service. I love eggs benedict at that was the only place to get it on the cruise, but each time I ordered it the eggs were overcooked. In addition to that, the service at breakfast was subpar, with servers not offering us coffee, or pastries as they walked around and skipped us. The cabin was what you expect on a cruise, totally manageable space wise with a nice couch to sit on if you want. Having a window overlooking the promenade was very nice to make it feel more open. The only issue I had with the cabin is that when they had loud late night parties on the promenade we could hear the bass and a little of the music. It only happened two nights of the cruise and the rest of the time the room was very quiet. My wife and I were very happy with it as our honeymoon cruise. Read Less

I was confuse because I did not known if the salads and pasta were the principal plate and the meats the complements. Too much foods with differents ingredients and strong tastes. I think that the foots must be provide by contries and choosing the must allusive of every region or country. For example Mexico the burritos and nachos, US the hamburger and chicken wings, PR the rice and beans, and so on. When I purchased the tickets for the cruise nobody tell us how was the package for shore excurtions, the packages of drinks. I believe that this packages should be explains with more details. Because in my case, if I had the general opinion of how these packages are. I would have bought before. Because the islands that we visit, does not have much to see by yourself. Read Less

I choose this cruise for the itinerary. 5 ports in the Caribbean. The ship was recently refurbished and you can tell. The carpets are new and clean. The chairs in many of the venues are comfortable. Even though I went during Spring break, the ship never seemed crowded. There was always a chair available near the pools. I found the crew in all areas to be friendly, helpful, and professional. Meals in Windjammer and MDR were of good quality. Awesome pizza, snacks, and desserts in the promenade. St. Lucia was the only port I found to be not "tourist friendly." There was a lot of traffic on the island. I felt like the taxi drivers took advantage of us. My shore excursion for this port was cancelled due to mechanical failure. Other cruisers had similar experiences in this port. Overall one of the best cruises I've been on with Royal Caribbean. Read Less

We chose this cruise through relatives who have travelled on several Royal Caribbean cruises. After many questions being asked and answered, we experienced a wonderful time. The entertainment was great and the food was much better than expected. Our stateroom attendant kept the room clean and was very attentive. The dining room staff was very courteous and service was prompt. One of the bars (Champagne Bar) was very light on the drinks and for $12 per mixed drink, there was a lot to be desired, however, the other bars were on point. The ports that we visited were really very close to being back to normal, St Maarten was the most heavily damaged and many places were not open and several homes and businesses will take years to recover, if ever. The airport and activities, beaches, bars surrounding the airport were open and thriving. Puerto Rico was coming along well, however, there are still several homes with blue tarps covering the roofs and sadly, the rain forest was 70% destroyed. The other islands visited, St Kitts, St Lucia, Antigua and Barbados were untouched by the hurricane damage. Read Less

We wanted the Southern Caribbean route and were extremely pleased with our ports of call. We did not book our excursions through RC and we were very pleased with all of them. The Adventure of the Seas is a beautiful well maintained ship, staff was attentive, activities were good. For the most part our experience was excellent. Our only complaint is that the food was extremely disappointing, bland tasting, lacking in presentation. The scrambled eggs in the Windjammer at breakfast looked slimey and only semi-cooked. Everything else was good at breakfast. I had eggs benedict in the dining room for breakfast once and they were almost inedible. Lunch and snacks in the Windjammer were good. Dinners in the dining room were disappointing. Not a lot of choice, very bland tasting. Appetizers were overall quite good, main course and dessert not so good. We have cruised with RC in the past and love it so you can imagine that we were very surprised how disappointing the food was. Read Less

We had a wonderful vacation on Adventure OTS 3/3/18 sailing. We arrived at the terminal at 2:30pm and were on the ship 10 minutes later. The ship was recently in dry dock and had all new carpeting, furniture and bedding. This was my third time sailing on this ship and they had replaced both of the Solarium hot tubs with bigger round hot tubs that hold twice as many people and also two of these at the mail pool. The food in all venues was great and presentation was excellent. The staff throughout the ship were all very helpful and friendly. The entertainment was good. The headliner shows included two comedians and a magician during the week. This was the Dutch Antilles Southern Caribbean itinerary and all of the ports were beautiful. We did not go on any ship excursions but planned our own. We went to a resort for the day in Curacao, sailing/snorkeling in Bonaire, on an all-day Jeep excursion in Aruba and shopping in St. Maarten. This is my favorite Royal Caribbean ship and I definitely recommend a cruise on her. Read Less

The Platters were ok for a copy cat band. The original Platters would have been in wheel chair or walkers. the food was blah with no imagination at all. Had to go to the market and buy some spices Same old trivia the belly flop the sexy man the love and marriage and the quest. No new movies they are playing Smurf or the tv are on reruns from days gone past We did a beach day in Aruba and Bonaire. I would skip Curacao downtown as the boat people from Venezuela have really taken a tole on the city. Curacao was dirty and most store closed as it was Sunday. That is to be expected Read Less

This was my third time cruising on Royal Caribbean, and they never seem to dissatisfy me. RC is the go-to place for cruising. Overall, the service was Great! But be weary of the Casino, the machines are old and the table dealers don't compromise when they make a mistake. Honestly, the ship needs a new casino. The Oasis of the seas is 2 times better. Bar servers are good, but some are too distracted to know who's next in line. the Night life is ok. I recommend getting a new DJ, he suxs. he plays the same music every night and tries to appeal to the mass, the only thing that kept me going was having a few drinks at the bar. Dining, Room Service, Stateroom Attd., and specialty shops - Great! I recommend adventure of the Seas if its your first time cruising. I will be booking the Oasis on my next cruise. Read Less

We did the Southern Caribbean itinerary out of San Juan - we love that one because you hit so many islands (St Maarten; St Kitts; Antigua; St Lucia & Barbados). We are gold members (I had cruised with RC once before) & from dropping our luggage off at the curb to boarding the ship, was a total of 5 minutes!!!! SUCH an efficient process! Newbies/friends of ours who hadn't cruised RC before - it took them about 15-20 minutes to board. Still great!! The ship was spotless; no plumbing issues; delicious food & SO MUCH variety all week in Windjammer & Main Dining Room. Waterslides & Flowrider were FUN! Getting off the ship each morning was so simple. Never waited more than 30 seconds to get our card scanned & walk off the ship (we would get off within the first 30 minutes of getting into each port). There were some language barriers with the staff & since it left out of San Juan, everything was in Spanish & English (announcements became a little long) but WHO CARES. You're on vaca; the staff were ALWAYS friendly; & it was a wonderful week!! Read Less

This cruise offers something for all members of the family. No one in our party of seven was ever without something fun to do or see. The food was excellent in every location provided for us to eat. The buffet seemed to never. The formal dinning is delightful. Quick snacks are always available. A game room is perfect for the calm rainy days or nights. Entertainment is top notch. Our cabin suited our needs. The refrigerator and ample electrical outlets were a delightful surprise. The TV is a large flat screen of good quality. Absolutely NO complaints. I can still feel the slow smooth rocking of the boat sending me into a deep restful sleep. Thank you Adventures of the Seas for making our vacation one to remember for a lifetime.
