Everything was seamless- the boat was easy to navigate, crew went above an beyond to ensure a great experience. Our inside stateroom was perfect for the two of us... many storage compartments and beds and pillows were super comfortable. Many activities for teens. Entertainment was either very good or disappointing but the parties and outdoor movies were great. Food was delicious in both dining rooms. Valentines was celebrated with a fantastic chocolate buffet. I truly appreciated how the staff encourages people to wash hands. Issues: the app isn’t reliable , announcements can’t be heard in the cabin, smoking areas are not located in great areas..... casino stinks of smoke and the smoking area on deck 11 is too close to the doors and towel station... several of the staff at the customers service desk were not fluent in English which led to mistakes and misunderstandings. Our stateroom assistant was outstanding.... he couldn’t do more for us. Read Less

We are pretty loyal to Royal Caribbean and have been on 16 RCL cruises. First time on Adventure. It is a nice ship, well maintained. Our cabin (9654) was clean and had more storage than we needed. I like that the mini bar is empty and you order what you want put in there. Our balcony was a nice size and the chairs reclined. Cabin steward was nice, but reserved. I made a couple of requests (extra pillows and towels) and he was very accommodating at keeping the extra towels in the room. We purchased a 3 night Specialty Dining package in advance and won't do that again. We were told to book our 3 dinners as soon as we got on the ship or we might not get into the restaurants at a decent time, so we did. Turns out that EVERY reservation we made conflicted with a show we wanted to see, which we didn't find about out until the night before from our Cruise Compass. When we tried to change the reservation, there were no decent times left (only 6PM or 9PM). for alternative nights. The MDR, and our waiter/assistant waiter were so fantastic, that we wished we'd just dined there every night. Now for the "not so much"...the entertainment. If I see one more comedian joking about his colonoscopy I'm gonna scream. The featured singer obviously didn't feel like performing that night and the "variety shows" were shrill, disconnected and NOT about the title of the show. The Ice Show was good. We ALWAY enjoy the adult show "The Quest" and the cruise director made it a lot of fun. We have seen the 70's disco show a dozen times so skipped that. Some trivia games were fun, but some of the cruise director staff seemed tired and cranky at a few of them. The casino was way too smoky for us but I did run in long enough to lose $20 INSTANTLY on a Wheel of Fortune machine. LOL We still had fun and managed to relax, which is what we needed. We told our cabin steward when we met him that we are late sleepers and if we slept so late that he couldn't get to our room, that was fine with us. It happened often and everything worked out fine. I would definitely go back on Adventure of the Seas, for the cleanliness, itinerary, and food, but NOT for the entertainment. Read Less

We liked the 8 night cruise instead of 7. The embarkation was probably the best we have experienced in many, many cruises. There were 300 Diamond Members and 200 Diamond Plus Members - all stuffed into the lounge and spilling out into the Viking Crown Lounge. Luggage was delivered in ample time to unpack before muster. We are Diamond Plus with over 300 nights on Royal. However, We did not have robes - did not have shampoo - did not have lotion - did not have our free bottle of wine - when we entered the cabin. As it was a busy day, we were ok with it being delivered the next day. Surprise - not delivered on day 2 either!. When I asked the cabin steward about it - he said that we had to REQUEST those things or we wouldn't get them. I said OK - I request them. Everything but the wine was delivered that night. I called the Loyalty rep and had to leave a message. Day 3 was my birthday. Since it was formal night and the meal was steak - we planned to drink the red wine from Crown and Anchor.... You guessed it - NO WINE. No wine on Day 4. Finally after repeated trips to the loyalty desk - wine was delivered - only it was PINK WINE - not red. Another trip to the loyalty desk and a trade was made. The loyalty rep apologized profusely and said that we would be his guest to dinner at the Chops Grill to make up for the glitch. We were happy. Reservations were at 6:00. We checked in at 5:55 and were seated. We waited - waited - waited. It was 6:20 and we were still sitting... No message from the loyalty rep. We asked the waiter to please try to contact him to see if he was coming. We were informed that he would TRY to be there by 6:40 and we should go ahead and order. About 6:45 he showed up and scarfed up food while on his cellphone. He accepted 6 calls from various people during dinner. Needless to say - we couldn't wait to get out of there. We even skipped dessert. The ports were places we had been before, so we just did an overview tour. On San Juan, we did want to see the city but did not want to shop, so we signed up for the "Old and New San Juan" tour. We did it online and chose that tour because it did not include shopping. The driver went straight to the downtown area and kicked everybody off the bus for one hour to "shop". We objected and others objected as well, but he said he had to move the bus and we needed to leave. We wasted a whole hour of a 2 1/2 hour tour just sitting. When we complained - we were referred to "Freddie", Asst Mgr of the Tours and he told us that RCI Tours were not in charge of the tours and there was nothing he could do. Is there noone following up on these tours???? That's scary. The rest of the cruise was fun. The dining staff were excellent. Food was tasty and varied. We really liked the Diamond Breakfast areafor a quiet fresh breakfast. It is a nice perk. Disembarkation went about as smoothly as we have seen. All in all - We do enjoy cruising and we normally are treated very well on Royal. I think this was just a fluke. I sure hope so - because we are going again with Royal in February. If this repeats - we may have to re-think things...... Read Less

Cruised with my wife and another couple choosing this cruise because of the 8 nights and ports of call. We are all Diamond members and have cruised exclusively on RCCL. Flew into Ft. Lauderdale the day before and enjoyed our stay at the Embassy Suites. Took a Taxi to the cruise port arriving at 10:45 am and was on the ship by 11:30 am eating lunch. Embarkation was smooth and all the RCCL workers were friendly and helpful. One change is that you do not get your sea pass card until you get to your room at 1 pm. One complaint is the muster drill. I know it is mandatory but our station was directly facing the sun and we were packed in like sardines for 20 minutes in 85 degree heat sweating profusely. Some people could not take it and walked inside to get some air, made me half sick to my stomach. We had a inside cabin on the 7th floor with a window facing the promenade and our room attendant Joel was excellent, keeping our room clean, stocked with ice and answering any questions we had. We ate in the MDR 6 nights and found the food very good. Some nights better than others but overall the selection was diverse. We ate in Chops and had a excellent meal and in Giovannis Table and found the food and service just OK. The Windjammer was very good for Breakfast and Lunch, especially enjoyed the fresh fruit everyday. Enjoyed the Ice Show and comedians and the RCCL singers and dancers were above average compared to some shows I have seen on other ships. One complaint is the Cruise Director was as plastic as you could get. Compared to some of the excellent Cruise Directors we have sailed with in the past he was below average. The Love and Marriage Game could have been better but he was just going through the motions. All 4 felt this way about him whenever he emceed an event. We have a motto that sometimes things are not going to be perfect so we go with the flow and don't let the small things bother you and ruin your vacation. The RCCL employees try hard to please everyone and keep the ship clean as possible in the time they have. I am an early riser and found employees cleaning at 6 am with a smile on there face and a Good Morning when I went for coffee. The pool area on Cruise Days were packed but we were able to find a place in the shade and if we wanted sun we sat on the edge of the pool enjoying the music and atmosphere. Because of the time of the year there were very few children on board. Labadee is a fun day, just a beautiful place to relax. Did not do excursions because we had been to the ports of call San Juan, St. Kitts and St Martin several times but still enjoy shopping at St. Martin and St. Kitts. The Diamond Club is a nice perk but with over 630 members on board RCCL needs to find an alternative to how people were served. The concierge was rude and not helpful and did not make RCCL any friends when asked about the situation. Especially when the serving area is packed in a room that seats an estimated 40 to 50 people. We are planning on cruising again on RCCL with an Hawaii Cruise on the Ovation of the Seas in the fall of 2019. Read Less

Although the weather was not the best, this cruise offered a very interesting and fun itinerary including Canadian, New England and, finally, Florida ports. They did a good job of both embarkation and disembarkation, especially considering the large number of passengers boarding at the small terminal in Quebec City. The ship is in good shape, and qualifies as not too big and not too small. The food and service in the Main Dining Room is the best we’ve had in years—waiters were attentive always and actually did some of the “old fashioned” things like pull out the lady’s chair and spread your cloth napkin! The food and service in the buffet Windjammer also was good, both at lunch and breakfast, with many food choices. There were some very good, original performers in the Lyric Theatre on several nights—unfortunately, the performance times kept changing from night to night and we missed some shows because showtime cut into dinner time. The Schooner Lounge is a good place for the usual sing-along music, and was packed every night. But the ship could definitely upgrade the live music in the lounges, and increase the amount of time the singers and musicians play. Several of the lounges also need improved drink service. Also, there were no enrichment talks related to the interesting ports we visited—we especially missed this since the poor weather precluded everyone from spending very much time on the outside deck so there was little to do. Lastly, our cabin was very good (spacious balcony)—attendants kept everything tip top. Only complaint is that RCCL no longer provides bathrobes. Read Less

We thoroughly enjoyed the ship, itinerary and shore excursions. Our interior Promenade View cabin was what we expected. Very nice. The service in the dining rooms was very good. What we found disturbing is the food in the Main Dining rooms. Once upon a time customers raved about the inclusive meals. We, among others, found the inclusive meals tasteless. Beef had no flavor and most fish selections were dry. I had sirloin steak one night and prime rib another. Both had absolutely NO TASTE. Now in order to enjoy the food you MUST select the specialty restaurants. We went to Chops and had a fantastic meal. We did enjoy meals in the Windjammer. Windjammer had many selections and the food tasted like food.Disembarking in Qubec was outstanding. They have quite an orderly procedure. Just about everyone needed a taxito the airport. There was no mayhem. People waited online, were directed to an available taxi and were assisted in loading the luggage. Read Less

The maitres was very frendly with my wife and I. The are a lot of activities on the ship to entertain youth and older people, all activities well organized. I have to mentioned the good service on Windjammer and service desk were the Serv Rep were very frendly with my wife and me. Its important to mention that the ports of PR, St Marteen and Cape Liberty are great ports to visits were Royal caribbean has a lot of excursion available for all. We booked this Adventure of the Seas cruise with a group of GoldWing Motorcycle people. Had 102 people in the group and enjoyed their company along with the events they planned. Noting that the ship had been in dry dock in January, we thought is was lacking in maintenance on little things. Like cabin door hinges that were loose, the safe numbers were almost worn off, the shower door leaked onto the bathroom floor and maybe a couple of other areas. Still, overall it was a very good cruise. Dining was lacking a good selection of dinner choices. Only had a few things on the menu that appealed to us. The steaks in the dining room could have been much better. They come either overcooked or undercooked most of the time. I personally like the chilled fruit soups and they only had that one night out of the 7 nights. All the shows were great and we enjoyed the Ice show the best. If I had to pick one thing that displeased us it would have been the Casino, The smoke was so bad that we had to leave the Casino almost as soon as we arrived. I was having a great deal of trouble even trying to get my breath while in there. We did almost no gambling on this cruise. They did not have a restricted area for smoking and people were walking all around with their cigarettes making it impossible to breath. It even could be smelled very strong near the entrances. We took two RCCL excursions, one in St Kitts, St Kitts Panoramic Drive. They had us packed in so tight that one person had to ride sitting on the cowling over the motor. The streets were horrible and very rough. The second was on St Lucia, Costal Cruise to the Pitons. This excursion did not tell you that you would have to swim, about 150 feet, to shore from the catamaran . There was no dock at the beach. We had picked these excursions because of some mobility issues. Other than that, we still have an acceptable time. We were displeased with the Park West Art Auctions. Have never been to any other auctions that went that fast. It was so fast you could not keep up with the type of artwork you were bidding on. That made it difficult to bid on things we were interested in. We do like the Eastern Caribbean Itineraries best. Still overall it was a great cruise. That was the reason for our 4 star rating and not a 5 star. Read Less

The itinerary drew me to book a group on this sailing, Feb. 24- Mar 3, out of San Juan, Puerto Rico, to St. Maarten, St. Kitts, St. Lucia, Antigua, and Barbados. The ship had spent a month in dry dock being updated three weeks earlier so was looking pretty good. Our least favorite area was the Casino which had very few modern slot machines. The smoke in the casino needs to be better vented. It was difficult for non-smokers to even pass through the area. We had a lovely wait team in the Main Dining Room making us feel very special throughout the 7 days. The water park, swimming pools and hot tubs, outdoor movie screen, ice skating arena, rock climbing wall, tennis/volleyball/basketball area, miniature golf course, table tennis area, workout and spa areas were all very appealing. Two of the shows in the Lyric Theater (Stephanie Parker, a Whitney Houston tribute artist, was amazing. The ventriloquist/comedian was also very entertaining) were memorable. Two production shows were scheduled; one of them was canceled due to heavy rocking and the possible danger to the dancers. The orchestra, singers, and dancers were also very good. The Love and Marriage Show was a hoot. The Quest, a scavenger type adult competition, was outrageous (men taking off their pants; women, their bras, etc.) but caused a lot of laughter. We didn't go to any of the premium restaurants as the food in the Main Dining Room and Windjammer for lunch was certainly good enough. Our promenade room was great; we love promenade ships as these rooms are very nice and yet way less expensive than balcony rooms. We prefer them to ocean view rooms which are also more expensive. Seems to me that the activities list is getting sparser with each passing year. There used to be more to do. Maybe with 5 ports of call, that could be the reason. We loved our cruise. Read Less

I was pleased with the food service and food quality and the friendliness of everyone except the pool area stand workers who were ambivalent. Our cabin steward was great and our wait staff in the main dining room were excellent. The ports were good and we rented a car in each so we could explore wherever we wanted go to. I had prearranged cars. There could have been more interesting things to do on the sea day, but we made our own fun. The water slides and Flow rider were great! I liked the ice skating show, and the singers and dancers were fantastic - we would have like to see more sows with the fine dancing! The comedians could have been offered as extra shows with more dancing shows in the main time slots. Read Less

RCC is a great cruise line. It's the first time in a number of years that we used RCC. My wife and I cruise every year and we try and it's not always possible to look for a cruise where we don't have to fly. This year we did have to fly to San Juan to get a cruise to the Southern carribean. We have been to the caribbean many times but never before but never the Southern caribbean thus this was a must trip. Fortunately all our flt connections with Southwest Airlines was excellent. The food was very good a must for anyone who likes to cruise. Our next cruise next year we are taking a couple of our grandchildren and unfortunately one of them is a poor eater. They only like chicken nuggets and chicken strips. Unfortunately they don't serve these items. Hopefully by this time next year they will add a "picky" kids menu like grilled cheese, nuggets or strips. One item that I dislicked was having to pay an additional amount for Johnny Rockets. If my memory serves me correctly the first time we used RCC Johnny Rockets did not have a charge for a burger ets. I do remember years ago it was free but you paid extra fora item like s shake. Overall the experience on RCC was very good. You can always find something to eat even if you are a picky eater uncless your a kid. We booked again for next year so you know it was a very nice experience. The shows were great professional entertainment. Ship and rooms were highly maintained, service was good the food very good and the chice of shore excursions was great. There was something for everybody young and old. I am looking forward to next year with the grandkids as there is so much for them to do aND THIS WILL BE THEIR FIRST CRUISE. Getting on and off the ship was handled in a very timely manner and the connections to and from the airport was great. I just wish they had someone around to help me get my boarding passes off the computer. I am not a computer person and there was no one to help out. This should be a service they provide at no cost. Positives Had not been to the ABC islands and wanted to visit gorgeous islands. The staff was outstanding no matter where we went every one wanted to offer assistance. The ice show was awesome and the ship was very clean and food extremely good. Comedians were ok and hypnotist we left the show. The on board entertainment dancers outstanding just not enough of it. Great music from the different bands all over the ship. The lava drink that a bartender introduced us to was killer. When we were packing up the last night discovered my luggage had a rubber foot busted off of it sometime during the travel from hoe till it arrived on the ship. It had 2 very sharp screws sticking out that would hurt someone, called maintenance and they were there in 5 minutes and removed the screws. As I said the staff aboard was awesome. Negatives Very disappointed that we could not combine the 4 restaurant purchase as we had on our last 3 cruises, for my wife and I to eat in 2 restaurants using 2 tickets each time of the 4, not sure why, they are selling 4 meals it should not matter if one person eats 4 meals of if a family of 4 eat one meal it is still only 4 meals. Seems as if Royal getting greedy? For someone that saves a whole year for the cruise it gets expensive when they start making you double up, needless to say we didn't eat in the specialty restaurants as we usually do for our anniversary very disappointed. I am diabetic and had a medical cooler that went bad and they did not have another one on board so had to have stateroom attendant bring us ice and had to keep insulin on ice for 4 of the 7 days, strange that a ship this size does not carry extras especially since we made it known from the time we booked that I would need one. The only other negative was they separated my wife and I when we were getting off the ship as they only had one wheel chair and we need wheelchairs to go long distance or if lines are long as I can not stand upright for long periods of time. I was first off and panicked at customs as our customs declarations was for 2 people, they would not allow me to wait for my wife as I was passed the customs line, so when she got to customs they made her fill out a separate form which the great customs people helped her to do. Would we cruise with royal again yes we have already booked for next year but we are going to make sure these issues are resolved first. Read Less

I chose the cruise because of the ports. These ports I have never been to and wanted to experience the ABC islands. The ship was a little smaller than I thought. It was hard to get a lounge chair when at sea because people was leaving their things and taking up all of the chairs even in the solarium it was not enough seating. The service was good but the food could have been better. I have been on some of their other ships and the food and presentations of the food was better. At breakfast and lunch they were always running out of silverware. Staff and crew very friendly. One thing I did notice was they really kept the ship clean except for the bathroom by the pool area sometimes not as clean and some bathrooms were broke for the number of women and children needing to use them.As I said early the ports were great. My biggest problem was after leaving the ship we waited for a least 30 minutes before our bags got to the airport and than had to wait another 15 minutes because our bags were the first ones on the truck that brought them to the airport and they were the last ones off. We enjoyed our cruise very much. Our cabin steward was the best we have ever had on a cruise. This was our eighth cruise. She brought us extra pillows and a topper for our mattress. Our bed was on the hard side for the mattress. She gave us extra soap and tissues. Our safe didn't work and she had someone up to fix it within minutes. The ship had been refurbished we were told. But our room was not. What we noticed new were the slides and most outer areas seemed refreshed. New carpeting and paint. Rooms need some attention. The buffet in the Windjammer was so so. It could be better. The dining room food was mostly good. Some of the fish dishes were not so good. Not much beef offered. Maybe trying to get you to go to the Chop house for dinner. Waiters were excellent. Entertainment shows were mostly good. Tours at our stops in Bonaire, Curaçao, and Aruba were good. Did tours of the islands. Flying is the biggest hassle and the San Juan airport was crazy busy coming home. Glad we had extra time to catch our flight coming home. On the ship some of the scheduled shows were hard to catch. Missed most of the ice show since it was only on two days. Tried the last show and we got out from dinner late. Saw about 10 minutes of the show. We like to play bingo but it was so unorganized and very expensive to play. Would not play on future cruises. Do not like how they nickel and dime you for everything. Always trying to get you to buy a drink even after you say no thanks. But overal we did have a good time. The staff was very friendly and helpful and that's a big plus in our book. Read Less

Embarkation was great. Stateroom, we had room with balcony, seemed a little worn, but not bad. The shower was very tight. One thing that was very annoying is that when you turned on the TV an R rated movie clip was always playing. That would be bad if you had children traveling with you. Only show CNN, some HLN, for news (disappointing). It seemed as though the wait staff in the Windjammer was slow to serve you when you sat down, asking about water/coffee etc. It was only open certain hours of the day. The last day they didn't come around at all. We ended up getting our own coffee/water. The islands were beautiful. Read Less

They are nickel and diming you to death for everything. We are Diamond Plus and received no offers for ship tours. Probably because they are selling tours now. Windjammer food and staff were not up to RCI standards and appears they have reduced staff in most departments. Not a lot of changing varieties from day to day and the lettuce was always brown in the Windjammer but nice in the dining room. Lunch in the dining room was also a nice experience. Inside Cabin was very acceptable but you will want to split the beds for space to move around. Diamond and Diamond Club staff were great. Both clubs were cramped and over crowded. We had so much storage space and the bathroom had double sinks and an awesome tub. The food was great in the main dinning room and our servers were fantastic. The food in the Windjammer was okay and the service was lacking, especially getting ice tea. Took forever to get the tea as the servers argued with me that they did not have ice tea. I had to talk to one of the officers in the Windjammer about it. The entertainment and activities were not good. They were all late at night and most started at 10:15 PM, which is to late if you have a shore excursion the next day. The Cruise Director was hilarious and pulled me right into the fun during the 70s party. A few minor glitches in the dining room which were quickly rectified and ran smoothly from then on. Entertainment, as I said, was fun. Shows were spectacular, I particularly like the ice show. The Quest Game was just hilarious. Ports and excursions were adequate, so many to choose from. I would suggest that Royal consider having a singles meet and greet at some point during their cruises. The do have solo meet and greets but I found that this was mostly couples who were going to play bingo, no a real singles meet and greet. We cruise for the entire package (ship and itinerary). This fit the bill. The MDR hours changed for traditional seating and due to the slow service, it interferred with our usual early show schedule (that also moved from 7:30 or 8p to 7p) so often we ate in the Windjammer, but we had to rush because the Windjammer didn't open until 6:30p...a suggestion would be to open at 6p. We're early to rise (5a) and early to fall (9 or 9:30p) so the change in these hours really upset our normal routine. Thank goodness the food in the Windjammer has really improved with a wide variety of selection. Loved the new hand washing station - excellent addition !! Now if we can get you to change the hours in the Windjammer (open for breakfast @ 6:30a and dinner @ 6p. The entertainment fell short - loved the comedian, that's about it. That may be why the show attendance was so low - not enough unique entertainment. The ice show was fabulous! One thing I've never understood...why is all the adult shows/activities so late at night. You're catering to singles and those with children, yet if cruising with children, the parents have to stay in so that leaves those with no children with no activities between 8p and 10p. Mix it up a bit. If it's adult only entertainment - post that no children are allowed under the age of 18. This was a port intensive cruise, yet you didn't modify the show schedules accordingly...everything enjoyable for adults (only) was after 9:30 or 10p. Overall service, excellent. Read Less

We sailed on the Eastern itinerary with stops in St. Maarten, St Kitts, Antigua, St. Lucia, and Barbados. We arrived the day before and stayed at the Courtyard Isla Verde. It's a nice property that allowed us to have some beach time before we boarded. As checkout was 11:00 we took a taxi then to the terminal. At the terminal, we checked our bags quickly and then had to wait until after 12:00 for the doors to open to check in. It was chaotic at this time, and if I had to do it again I would arrive a few hours later once things settled down. Once in check in was quick and we were on board within 15 minutes of entering the building. For the stops: - St Maarten - took a private tour with a day pass at the Sonesta Maho beach. Fantastic! - St. Kitts - booked Thenford Grey's Grand tour. Well worth it. - Antigua - Had the ships snorkel and kayak booked, but this was canceled due to weather. Walked around port, but not much to see. This did make a good down day after the prior two - St Lucia - Took the ships zip lining by the Pitons. Very nice boat ride back and forth. The zip lining was ok. - Barbados - Hired Carson Moore for a tour of the island. Highly recommended. The service in the main dining and the cabin was great with the staff going out of their way to ensure we had what we needed. The food in the main dining was mostly good and the Windjammer was what you would expect for this style of buffet. The ship as a whole is showing some wear and will definitely benefit from it's October scheduled dry dock. All in all, we had a good time and are looking forward to seeing the Adventure next year after the refresh. Read Less

Location and chance to see new islands in this part of the Carribean. Our flight and embarkation on the same day was the best ever. No wait time in terminal a all. Had direct flight from Houston, Texas, 4 hours only. . Our cabin was the snag for the day. Several problems and finally had to get housekeeping guru ti come to clear up the mess. Wine and champagne did the trick. Our dining partners each evening were interesting and enjoyable. We were 5 different couple as from different places in North America. Each evening conversations were most interesting. Dining services was the best we could expect. Only 1or 2 missteps on foods. The ice shows were exceptional on both shows. These performers were excellent as we sat in different locations for shows. Ports and shore excursions were good. 2 shore excursions were on our own. Barbados and Martinique did our own touring. Had birding excursion with guide from Holland now making her home on the island. Gave us good history and cultural facts as she drove us around. We would come again for more birding here. No c .hildren as we are seniors. Movies were good not out of the ordinary. Several evening shows were most entertaining. Enjoyed morning room service when going ashore. Nice perk. A good cruise for the reasons we wanted. Just coming and going to and fron San Juan, Puerto were the best ever. Read Less

My husband was recovering from surgery and we decided on a last minute cruise to the Southern Carribean. I have previously sailed this ship and wanted to see recent upgrades. The ship older is very clean. I didn't notice much change in the decor other than computerized gadgets which tell you directions and daily planner, and I believe WIFI. I did notice a huge change in personnel! Although they were the same crew mainly from my 1st cruise, they were smiling genuinely, they were eager to help, they were happy and as always hardworking. When we went into the windjammer even on the first day prior to sailing the tables were quickly cleaned, there was waiters eager to take drink orders, and there were statios set up in many areas full of lemonade, tea, coffee. The windjammer remained that way all week! Wow. I asked originally for a 6:30 dining slot along with a small personal table. Knowing ahead of time I probally wouldn't get it due to planning last minute. I got the 8:30 time slot, with a large table. It worked out wonderful after long excursions I had time not only for a shower but a nap as well prior to dinner and shows. Noel was our waiter and I'm horrible with names. Noel made me smile every night! He was the best head waiter I have ever had on any ship. His recommendations were spot on and his personality was so joyous! Our table mates were wonderful! I missed saying goodbye since we ate at Giovanni's our last night where we had a wonderful fillet! The cabin was a simple inside room yet it was spacious, well appointed and the bed was so comfortable. our room attendant (I wish I could remember her name was so friendly, patient, and extremely efficient) Entertainment I have to say WOW as well there was so many things going on that were Fun. Trivia, bingo, dancing, piano bar, dance classes and of course the nightly shows. I have to also give huge props for setting up 3 ice showings and getting rid of the tickets ! Excursions were plentiful and diverse! This is a very port intensive cruise! Our ports were Barbados my favorite Antiqua, St.Lucia, St Martaan, and St Kitts. If your a drinker I would advise the drink package. The drinks were very good but pricey once you add taxes and gratuity! I genuinely enjoyed this cruise! WOW. Read Less

Thank goodness we have shown some loyalty to RCI, attaining the lowly status of Platinum. The "unwashed" lineup for embarkation at PanAmerican Terminal in San Juan was horrendous, but the priority line flowed smoothly at 4 pm on Sunday afternoon. After 2 and a half fine days in San Juan, we were ready to lie back for a little while. Staterooms were all ready and the luggage even arrived before our 6:30 dinner reservation at Giovanni's. (Not sure why RCI on this ship still adheres to the line up outside form of muster, especially when all the instruction are in two languages, but there you are.) Sailed on Adventure in 2012, so we knew what to expect and were not disappointed. Promenade Cafe was great at a place to get some coffee and a snack at any hour, but the attendants for the coffee let us down a couple of morning at 6 am. No Coffee. At that hour, even a short wait of a few minutes can be a bummer, and is unnecessary. Compared to the 24/7 facilities on some other ships, the Promenade Cafe is a bit dark and not terribly inviting, except for its usefulness. Compared to even some of RCI's smaller ships, Adventure lacks variety in dining options, but Giovanni's is such an excellent experience it is hard to complain. Except for the Ice Show, which is consistently excellent, entertainment is mediocre. One evening was billed as a display by two champion ballroom dancers, but was primarily just another show by the ship's resident company with two numbers performed by the star team. Most evenings we were exhausted from the excursion of the day and chose to skip the shows, not a positive commentary on the quality. Alert: should you be assigned Table 282 in Vivaldi, run don't walk to the Maiter 'd and get it changed. This table supposedly for four covers effectively blocks the access to the closer waiters' station and endures constant bumping and jostling by passing waiters with loaded food carts. Yes, food carts. Other than the table location, which the Head Waiters quickly sorted out with a change in table, service in the dining room was excellent. If you happen to get Nilsita and Irma, you are fortunate. Stateroom service was also attentive and pleasant. The fitness center on Adventure is well equipped and the therapy pool in the fitness area is the best one on the ship, big, hot and well-jetted. Sauna and steam rooms, at least on the men's side, worked well throughout the cruise. The captain is energetic and makes the daily announcements worth listening to, but on a somewhat intangible way, Adventure seems a bit tired, a comment which applies not only to the ship but more of the crew than we are used to on Royal Caribbean. All this is not to say that a cruise on Adventure is not worthwhile, especially the very port intensive Eastern Caribbean itinerary. We had a great time, on the ship and on shore. Read Less

Sunday We arrive to San Juan Airport about 11:30 AM. Immediately took taxi to Pan-American pier for Adventure of Seas at $21 . Handed off our bags to tenant. Than took the same cab into old San Juan for $8. Had cabbie drop us off at Barrachina restaurant. Famous for being the first to introduce the pina-colada. We ate lunch and walk in the city admiring the beauty of the Old San Juan. Highlights of that excursion was the Pigeon Park, Cathedral of San Juan Bautista, Cemetery Santa Maria next to old fort Castillo San Felipe del Morro. The fort area was nice place with all the locals out with kites flying. Look over the cemetery nearby, old church. Headed back to cabin area. Note it's best: to walk back over to the taxi drop off point if you’re looking to get back to Pan-American pier. We just did not see many taxis around. Adventure of Seas boarding a bit slow. We had gotten email and phone call from RC prior to arriving into San Juan. Asking deck 9 to come aboard at 2:00, deck 8 at 3pm and so on. We arrived finding one line people carrying all luggage to porters than another line formed to sign into RC and security check passport and sail documents. Than lineup to front desk to have ship passes made and fill out rather form rather we been expose to sickness. Than it was on to walk to ship but before you could get on with it they were taking pictures which held everyone held up. We managed pass it only to find two separated lines with security checking once again. Yes security again and they took there time. Than it was on to ship security to use your sail passes to walk on the ship. Yes finally got on. Ship is very clean. Tried to book online excursions with the TV but it would not work. Walk to deck 5 reservations desk said system was down. Wow. Was able to finally get it done online around 5pm. The ship was beautiful inside, no problems with finding your way around. Good technology at use with electronic boards to tell you about the ship and location and what events going on throughout. Love the promenade and how it was laid out. Love the adult pool area on lido deck. Especially both whirlpools. Bars easy to order drinks, never felt crowded to me on this ship. I very much like the replished drink package $19 a day, non-alcohol drinks; I use this lot on board for the ice drinks. Not much in entertainment for wife and me. We are both 56 just can't get into the singers and stage dancing. Did like the Wilson guy who was the comedian very funny. I never had much problem with the food we ate in the main dining hall each night and met with some very nice people. The windows stay dirty in the main dining hall could not enjoy the pretty sunset outside. Never saw them cleaning them at any point. Wife like the salmon she had it twice in the week for dinner. Ordered a filet mignon steak in main dining and surcharge was about $16 was over cooked very dry. We ate at windjammer for breakfast, omelets were good they ran out of choc milk last full day of cruise, it was indicated by the cruise director that over 800 kids were on board. Great customer service experience one evening. Went to windjammer but no bananas, cooked asked me if needed help he looked for some and came back saying none in kitchen, his supervisor came to me and had some brought to my room later. Monday -cruise all day. Relax Ports of call Tuesday Bridgetown,Barbados - 5 stars. Did the RC sponsor excursions on the Pirate Boat, Barbadian Buccaneers. Lots of rum punch served after the swimming and snorkeling. We had a blast. Snorkeling was good too. Wednesday Castries, St Lucia - Use Spencer's Land, Sea & Beach Adventure 5 stars! Booked on web. Would do again. Exceptional fun on this tour! Great snorkeling at Jalousie Beach, St. Lucia area. Thursday St John’s Antigua -Adventure Antigua Eco Tour 4 stars ! booked on web! great view and not so good snorkeling. Water choppy. Would not do again but it had some very nice camera moments. Friday St Marrten - took taxi to Orient Beach for half of day than went shopping in town of Philipsburg. Fun day. Nude beach beside us at Orient, also our beach was topless. Chair and umbrella $10 for 2 people total. Great deal get there early get front chairs. Saturday St. Croix , US Virgin Islands - went to beach near pier of ship, two chairs cost us $15 total with umbrella. Near shad trees, but I would not get them their again the house behind us spelled pretty bad near the fence. Watch out for sea urchins in water. Frederiksted is not much to do give this place 2 stars, go to Buck Island for snorkeling or to Christiansted for shopping take a taxi early this is what we plan to do next time. We chose this cruise for the ports not the ship experience, we got what we wanted from the cruise, it would have been extra points for us if they had better entertainment on board and it was a newer ship.
