We took this cruise as part of a specific group, so neither the ship nor the itinerary was our choice. That said, we had a good time overall and give Royal Caribbean an A- for the experience.
The Ship: The ship is older than most we sail, and it’s age shows. Colors/decoration are dated. The ship has been updated, but with heavy use it is in need of some tweaks. Carpets are worn, furniture ...
We booked this cruise as a 'last minute' decision because 1) we needed a getaway and 2) price (we must have hit upon it on one of their price drop days). We have only sailed one other cruise, on Princess, so I am trying to give this an honest stand-alone review without totally comparing the two.
Check in was flawless. Being able to pre-check in was one of the easiest and having it 'done' ...
We live in Canada and knew we would need to reacquaint ourselves with the sun by end Jan - hence this cruise.
For this first time, we decided to splurge on a Jr Suite, which was affordable due to the short length of the cruise. What great accommodations! Could not believe how much storage space we had available - many of the storage cupboards went empty! Wow - a couch and two lounge chairs - ...
I'm a loyal RCCL cruiser (Diamond member) and frankly, I much prefer the Voyager class ships versus the huge Oasis class ships, primarily because I love the ability to walk outside and listen to the waves from Deck 4. However, this cruise was just barely average. Entertanment was virtually non-existent (for an 8 day cruise) and what they did have wasn't really worth watching. Food was okay ...
Elvis Tribute Artist cruise; having sailed on many RCCL ships, I found Adventure to have positives (smaller size easier to get around) and negatives (RCCL has tried to squeeze all of the amenities of Oasis class ships into this smaller one making for some tight spaces). Food was OK but choices very limited. Complimentary was either the main dining room with service that was way over the top ...
We chose this cruise because we wanted to party over New Year's and we did. Easy getting on the ship with an early shuttle and as promised room was open right at 1 o'clock. The Adventure is an older ship and showing her age even though many on board said she had been recently renovated. Casino was small, paint and hardware needed attention and many areas were just not serviced in a timely ...
We have been cruising with Royal since 2002 - have done 9 cruises and 7 were with RCCL.and second time on Adventure
We have never been so disappointed on how much royal has gone down since our last time on the Adventure. We did Alaska in 2013 on Radiance (love Alaska and the Radiance).
Done get me wrong some parts of the cruise were fabulous (staff especially), but overall it seems RCCL is ...
I had never traveled on a Royal ship in the past so this was my first. The ship was nice with many bells and whistles I had not experienced in the past. I did not like that the Windjammer had restricted hours of service as I have pretty much been used to on other cruises. I was not crazy about the shows on the Adventure, but Mercedes and Isaac were fantastic. I was really hoping for a WOW ...
We, because of price and spouse are "Loyal to Royal". But I'm serious thinking not such a great idea. If they are going to continue using older ships they really need to stop a day and CLEAN them thoroughly!!
Entertainment was Excellent!!
This class ship (as we sailed back-to-back with the Navigator of the Seas) won't be our choice anytime soon.
**The plus is the food was good and ...
The cruise was average. We had great service in the dining room in the evening. The entertainment was ok. There was a comedian that was good (with puppets). and the ice show was excellent.
When I had lunch in the dining room I ordered hot tea. Each time, the tea never came. Thankfully my dinner waiter stopped over to ask how the service was and if he could get me anything. Otherwise, I'd ...
