Embarkation at Southampton took about 40 minutes. I think we arrived at peak time about noon, so could have avoided queues if slightly earlier or later. It was generally stress-free and we were on the ship fairly quickly - then: the first surprise. 11 months have passed and I still get nightmares. If you like Butlins you'll LOVE Adventure of the Seas. 4000 crammed on board - great if you like queuing for food! A really classy experience - some of the finest tattoos seen on a cruise ship anywhere! The main restaurant was okayish for dinner, but the food was of extremely poor standard. We had a disappointing experience on the Adventure of the Seas. We thought the ship was tired, smelly and not very clean, as did other passengers. We have cruised many times but this was the first and last time with Royal Caribbean. It was very overcrowded with not much seating in any of the public spaces. Very mixed experience, ship felt very overcrowded and we had to queue for everything. Waited for 20 minutes to be served at the Ben and Jerry's/ Starbucks counter and then gave up waiting. Found it difficult to find tables and seats in the Windjammer restaurant and in bars and other seating areas.
