This ship was a little older than some of the other ships but it was overall a nice looking ship. The embarkation went really smoothly and disembarkation went as well as could have been expected for a suite customer. This is an older ship so if you want all the bells and whistles you may not get them on this ship. I loved the shows they provided on the ship they had a little bit something for everyone. My stateroom attendant as well as the dining room staff in the Saphire dining hall were excellent. I ate breakfast in Giovanis restaurant and that was excellent also. I did not really care for the food in the Windjammer. I enjoy the ports and shore excursions most notably Toppers Rhum in St. Maarten. That place was awesome. Depending on where the ship traveled too would be my decision if I traveled on this ship again. Read Less

This was our first RC cruise. The ship was beautiful and the service was excellent. We ate in the Windjammer and the food was so much better than Carnival. My husband and I both gained weight. So many deserts, it was hard to choose one so we didnt just have one. If you take this cruise sit in section 12. The wait staff were all so sweet and helpful, I hated to say goodbye to them. We stayed in an inside promonade cabin. It was uncomfortable. Small and no place confortable to sit. It also was loud at times. Our cabin mate was wonderful and did everything he could do to try and soften up our bed but nothing worked. Our ports 1- Labadee is really beautiful, lots of fun in the water. And again the lunch they served was wonderful. 2- PR I love this place. Have been there a couple times. Just wear really comfortable broken in shoes. Don't get blisters like I did. See the fort and the cemetery and eat a mofongo and see if you can find the snow cone man (we couldn't find him this time) lots of walking and lovely shops. 3- St Maartin - we stayed at the boardwalk, shopped some We should have taken a tour. 4- St Kitts - we did the 4x4 and beach. It was ok, saw a lot of the island. The tour people were informative and very nice. We had already seen Brimstone on a prior cruise. If its your first time to the island Brimstone is the way to go. I was not able to get a lounger near the pool. It was always so crowded. My husband is a smoker so he sat at the smoking area on deck 11 all the time. No I will not be booking another cruise for a long time. I was more comfortable on the Carnival Ship. It was cheaper, the food wasn't as good so I didn't eat much and didn't gain weight. Having the smoking area near the pool causes a problem for a couple where one smokes and the other doesn't. if felt like I was always by myself. Read Less

We chose this cruise for ship and Itinerary Our first on RCCL and Adventure was perfect not too big or small we never felt crowded in any venue plenty to do onboard. Port everglades embarking and debarking was excellent easiest ever so far. The food was great just not enough choices for dinner in MDR . windjammer was always crowded only ate there 3 times had breakfast in MDR good food and service lunches were mainly pizza or snacks from the Cafe. The ports were amazing never enough time to do everything we will probably take another cruise to get to all of them again. Labadee : Beautiful beach day and the roller coaster was short but worth it San Juan : Excellent history we visited 2 of the 3 forts did some shopping St.Martin : Took an Island tour(private not ship) still quite a bit of hurricane damage can be seen but beautiful place. Shopped in the port area St.Kitts : Took an island tour again lots of pictures taken just not enough time. Shopped in the port area. I would definitely cruise this itinerary again on Adventure or one of the larger ships Read Less

My name is Andrew. My wife (Kristen) and I just finished our honeymoon aboard your Adventure of the Seas ship out of Ft. Lauderdale from October 27th thru November 4th. This special trip that we planned nearly a year in advance left me sorely disappointed and frustrated for several reasons. After the abysmal experience I would like to share it. Issues began prior to boarding the Royal Caribbean Adventures of the Seas ship when my wife and I attempted to book excursions through Royal Caribbean's website. The website simply did not work and would not process our requested excursions. This was a problem as we would prefer to avoid additional fees. Booking online in advance privileged us to a discount which we wanted to take advantage of. We attempted to use the website countless times. We tried different web browsers and even our smart phones. The site would not work. As this issue did not resolve after all our efforts over a couple of hours, we called Royal Caribbean customer service for assistance. Their customer service representative logged in with our account and had the same issue. The customer service representative stated there was nothing they could do. They were apathetic and when we inquired if the pricing would be honored on the ship, as the issue was on Royal Caribbean's end, we were told, ‘No’. This obviously led to us having no choice but to pay more than we should have for excursion(s). We made it to Ft. Lauderdale and were anxious to get on the ship as soon as possible. We did. After we initially boarded the ship, my wife and I meandered for a brief stint. Shortly after, I found myself in the Windjammer Buffet to get some lunch as my wife waited outside on the deck, as Kristen has a severe gluten allergy and wasn't hungry yet. While in the buffet line I was pleased to see signage that encouraged guests with allergies to approach the staff for assistance when getting food. These signs were everywhere. I was pleased had confidence that Kristen would have substantial options, especially as even when we booked the trip her Itinerary even allowed a notation for ‘Gluten Allergy’. As I was in a slow moving line, I politely asked a member Royal Caribbean Windjammer staff where or what was offered for people who had a gluten allergy. The staff member, an Oriental female, smiled and with a look of confusion walked away from me. She never came back. I returned to my wife and gave her a quick rundown of the encounter and we both agreed we would try to get assistance when she was hungry. Being reasonable people we figured that there would be some workers on the ship who would simply not understand us. I had only asked the Windjammer employee because we have learned to be very proactive, careful, and thorough to ensure meals from sources outside of ourselves are safe for Kristen. Eventually Kristen was hungry and went to the Windjammer buffet as I stayed on the deck. When she returned she looked concerned and had a plate with lettuce- just lettuce. I was perplexed and asked if she was helped. Kristen then explained how the employees in the buffet either could not understand her or walked away from her. She sought help from several Windjammer employees and some were deemed to be ‘supervisors’. As no employee helped her at all she searched for anything that was 1, clearly gluten free and 2, did not suffer from cross contamination. So she returned to me with the one thing she felt was safe. Lettuce, just lettuce. I was not happy. This cruise was our honeymoon and not even a few hours in, it already had begun to show hints of what eventually became a miserable and problematic nightmare. I realized that I needed to speak to the head chef and get us answers to avoid further issue. I told Kristen I was sorry for how things were going and I'd go back in to the Windjammer and get things straightened out… I went back in to the Royal Caribbean Windjammer buffet and started an ‘excursion’ sarcasm very much intended. I spoke to any employee I could. This venture occurred for approximately 20 minutes and included Windjammer: wait staff, food suppliers, drink suppliers, and alleged supervisors. Eventually after being led in literal and figurative circles by the Windjammer staff, I was linked to a floor supervisor of sorts who allegedly would get me the chef. I was relieved, finally someone who can help! The male supervisor assured me that he would personally make sure my wife would get food and said he would get the chef immediately. I was elated. At that point the supervisor stationed me by a meat cutting station just outside of the kitchen entry on the far end of the Windjammer buffet. The supervisor left me and entered the kitchen and I patiently waited for him and/or the chef to come out to help me and my wife. Meanwhile as I patiently waited, I watched as other guests helped themselves to their 1st, 2nd, and even 3rd serving of heaping piles of food. Consider, while I am watching other guests eat endless amounts of whatever they want, my wife can’t even get a basic protein or side item. Hours in to our honeymoon we were spending more time apart than together and wasting precious time while she became hungrier. Kristen waited for me to pull through with good news. This did not happen. The supervisor who went in to the kitchen never came back, nor did a chef come out. I stood and waited for 5 minutes, 10 minutes… eventually I asked a female food supplier to check on the supervisor and chef for me. I explained how I had been desperately waiting for them. She said she would go get them. I believed her. She went in to the kitchen and never came back, no chef… 15 minutes, 20 minutes (meanwhile I’m getting dirty glares from guests in the buffet line as they don't understand why this guy with no plate-me, is standing in the area of the flow, even though I was careful not to block anything). So then I asked the young male Windjammer meat cutter who had been near me the entire time, if he could check on the chef for me that I had been patiently waiting. He recognized this as I stood near him for 20 minutes. He did leave his station and go in to the kitchen. Eventually he came back to report that the chef would be on his way, he stated the chef was allegedly wrapping up a phone call. I was baffled that the chef was so apathetic towards me and my wife but appreciated the efforts of the meat cutter and waited for the chef to come out. Also, I realized what I had been dealing with was on the verge or absolute ridiculousness and extraordinarily poor customer service so I took my smart phone and recorded the back end of this experience. I wanted documentation and proof of the unacceptable ordeal. After several more minutes of recording and begging for any sort of help, I gave up and went back to my wife. I missed her and knew she would worry about me. No one was coming, no one would truly help us. I learned that, nothing else. Easily over an hour of our cruise gone, me-upset and concerned, frustrated. Her-hungry and confused as to what was going on. I filled Kristen in on where I was and what happened and we decided to head to guest services with urgency for help. The ship was leaving the port and I did not want us to be on it if my wife could not get simple sustenance. At guest services we waited in a long line to eventually be connected to a staff member who took us from one floor to another, looking for the proper people so that Kristen could eat. I was so confused, was this the first allergy Royal Caribbean ever encountered? It sure seemed like it. Princess Cruise lines labels the food for allergy purposes. They handle it with knowledge and efficiency and don’t miss a beat. This was our first try at Royal Caribbean and I began to tell the employees that if my wife could not eat a proper diet we would just forgo the cruise. We would have no choice. At one point hours into our pursuit for assistance an employee back at the Windjammer pointed at an alleged gluten free bread. I told the staff I would not stay on the ship if my wife's diet was to only be comprised of possibly gluten free bread and lettuce. The staff I was with kept saying they were wanting to help us but we still had no solution. About 3 hours in to the nightmare we finally managed to get to two chefs in front of us. I was sorely upset for my wife and the way we were treated. I was appalled by the manner in which the Royal Caribbean employees handled the situation. I explained the trouble we ran in to, the chase I was on, the employees disappearing, and showed video footage of I dealt with. I asked these chefs why they did not come out to help me. They had no answers. There is no answer for what they did or more accurately didn’t do. They did not deny anything which I appreciated. Eventually one of the chefs apologized. I was glad to finally hear the smallest shred of human decency but as I explained, the 3 hours we lost was precious and my wife was still very hungry. She finally was given a couple options from the chef and we moved on praying and hoping getting her food would not be an ordeal as even when we booked our trip, we were able to note that she had gluten allergy. We didn't think it would be a surprise or major issue. We try to be optimistic people. We thought things would be better and were proactive to ensure there were no more major problems. Per the chefs instructions we ordered Kristen a gluten free breakfast a day in advance, for approximately 10:00. We called in the morning to report that we would be on our way and were told to ask for 'Kenny’. Again, we followed the instructions we were given and I called to be extra thorough. When we got to the Windjammer we asked for Kenny as instructed. No Kenny came, eventually a random chef came to us but had no idea what we were talking about. He was not aware of the advance order that was placed. He said he could make Kristen’s breakfast but if would take at least 10 minutes. We would have preferred it to be done so we could enjoy our ship activities and move on to our island stop but we allowed them a chance to get it done. Over 20 minutes later I went up to check on my wife's breakfast, the staff looked at me confused and said it was ready. So I returned to our table where we waited briefly, they then brought her pancakes and no syrup. So she waited nearly ten more minutes for syrup, not sure why that was so difficult, but it was. So my wife who had pre-ordered her food a day in advance and checked in on it in the morning was seated watching everyone else eat for nearly 40 minutes just to finally eat cold pancakes and eggs. The scrambled eggs had two hairs in them and as much as we would have addressed it, we were on the verge of missing planned activities. The kitchen was not receptive, our efforts were a lost cause. Also as a side note on day one we inquired with the chef and were given some clarification on gluten free options at Windjammer as far as what is available in the buffet. That information was helpful but meaningless due to the excessive cross contamination from the guests who sloppily make their plates, the buffet was NOT a viable option. After this dining experience at the Windjammer and upon further investigation for the remainder of the trip my wife and I utilized the small Cafe on the other end of the ship as we learned they offered small but gluten free pizza. The Café personnel were not initially knowledgeable about gluten and cross contamination but with great effort my wife and I were able to muddle through it with them. The pizzas took 10 minutes to make whereas all other food was immediately available, this excludes the wait in line. It was a struggle to pick up the gluten free pizza once it was done due to the way the lines at the café were set up, it usually sat at the kitchen window for a while but we made it work. Kristen ate the mini pizzas every day for lunch as the Windjammer proved to be insufficient no matter how hard we worked with them. Pizza, every day. We weren't going to even try and eat at the Windjammer anymore but we did go there for drinks three times and even that was too much for them to handle. On day one I was told I could not have orange juice unless I went to the bar where I waited and was ignored for nearly 10 minutes just to finally leave and get orange juice from a secondary drink station, no different than the first I went to. Then a couple days later, when I wanted to get water, a member of staff mildly scolded me and refused my entry to the Windjammer. She said my shirt was wet. It wasn’t. It was dry, my body was dry. My shorts were nearly completely dried from being in water maybe an hour or more before. I suppose they appeared used or tattered from going down water slides earlier that day? With no decency or reason the Windjammer employee outright berated me that my shorts were wet and declared I would not be allowed in the Windjammer for a cup of water. No Water. The third experience occurred several days into the cruise. I went to a drink station and was told they only had one flavor of drink, so I politely accepted the singular option I was given. The staff member than opened the machine to discover not only was the drink she offered completely empty but it was lemonade and not the flavor she had stated. She then pointed me in the direction of another station across the room. The second drink station I went to had an employee who had no cups and I had to stand and wait for any sort of beverage. Also, on a last Windjammer note, on the second to last day since we happened to bump in to the head chef of the Windjammer. Kristen was sick of pizza. We thought it was a stroke of luck and we asked if he could make my wife chicken for lunch. She was tired of pizza! He was polite and it was made and there was hair in it. Pizza, again… Moving on, my wife and I researched the evening dining dress codes. We ensured we had appropriate attire for every evening. At the dinners, none of the dress code guidelines were enforced. People wore shorts, wife beaters, see through shirts, and tank tops. This occurred on casual and formal nights. Had we been given accurate information, we would have packed far more casual wear in lieu of several suits, dresses, and shoes. However per guidelines of Royal Caribbean, we easily incurred additional luggage costs that could have been avoided. We did so because we follow rules. However, they were not applied or followed by anyone else. I would have saved a small fortunate in luggage costs had Royal Caribbean accurately stated what was allowed at the dinners. Also, insult to injury please recall when I was scorned for the shorts I had on and that led to my refusal of admittance in to the non-luxury, messy buffet. So I was not admitted there, yet others were dressed comparably and worse but were somehow allowed to attend what was considered the fine dining? Moving on, in regards to the excursion we wanted to book online, as we approached the excursions desk to book it, a guest of the ship and his two kids stopped right at the entrance. The man may have been drunk but I said excuse me to him twice as he and his kids were blocking the corridor we needed. He responded by yelling and cursing at me directly in front of the Guest Services Desk and several employees. They all ignored his belligerent attitude and profane manners. This particular guest became well known around the ship for his abusive attitude. He cursed out and older man at the sky bar and got in to it with another guest at the Windjammer. I can't hold Royal Caribbean accountable for this man's actions but Royal Caribbean is responsible to ensure guests have a safe and enjoyable trip. Had they addressed this man on day one when we encountered him at Guest Services on day 1 he could have been put on notice and maybe would have acted more civil during the trip. If he refused, at the time he could easily have been removed from the ship. Also, we learned there is security and jail on the ship which easily would have housed him and would have been justified enforcement for any of his belligerence and altercations. When we finally got around the vile man and his kids the woman at the excursions desk was not knowledgeable and could not explain anything about the excursions we we're interested in. She eventually shared with us that it was her first week. Also, we did not get the 15% discount that we should have been able to had Royal Caribbean’s online booking process worked. More money lost. My wife and I scheduled a couple’s massage and it was supposed to be 75 minutes long. We arrived early and due to a seminar held to sell acupuncture treatments we did not get in until 10 minutes after the time we were scheduled. We verified with the masseurs that our scheduled massage was the special deal offered by the manager ‘Z’, and they left and returned saying it was. After the massage we noticed it was only a 50 minute treatment. There are no clocks around and when we asked what the spa would do to make it right the only thing they offered was for us to come by on an island day (lost time on an island) and we would be given 25 minute back rubs. We spent a fortune at the spa and they could not even give us extended times or throw a complimentary ________ treatment at me or my wife. We lost more time and to be frank we didn’t even want the quick back massages that ended up wasting more of our time. More cost to us financially and of our precious time. During a Ping Pong tournament there was a no show and I asked Royal Caribbean staff member ‘Jack’ if another individual could play. I did not know the person who wanted to play but they were present. I was very polite and explained that since someone who signed up wasn’t there, the guest who was turned away and was still present could take the open spot. Jack scolded me and glared at me with distain. He said, ‘no!’ I wish I was making this up. He then scorned me and stated that the playoff spots were final. My wife was a witness to his mannerisms towards me. Inexcusable. I was weighed to use one of the two slides on the ship. The scale showed 219 lbs. which I did not believe was right. I weigh around 210 lbs. I was refused use of the, ‘yellow’ slide and had to wear a wristband that reflected I was to be refused use of the slide. The slide has a weight limit of 220 lbs. which I was still under. Upon returning from the cruise, the following Monday at my Doctor’s office I weighed in at 208 lbs. I guess I lost nearly 12 lbs on a cruise where everyone else gains weight because of all of the endless dining options, makes sense? Regardless, I was needlessly refused use of a slide while I was under the weight restriction (with a faulty scale). Less and less activities. Some honorable mentions of other problems. I saw towels on the outside of rooms, so I followed suit. The person who cleans rooms, who was very nice, and stated his supervisor wanted me to be put on notice not to do that. It was innocent and I profusely apologized. I told him I would happily talk to his supervisor because someone who to be so concerned over towels could possibly help us with all these other issues. They never spoke with me though. The safe provided in the room was very old and we later learned it is known to malfunction. The last night we wasted over an hour and a half waiting for someone to get the safe to work since our passports were in it. Then we were told the wait was to be expected. Throughout the Cruise, multiple elevators were ‘out of service’ the reoccurred every day. On one of our particular Dinners, my wife waited nearly 45 minutes after I received my food for hers. All of the issues were reoccurring and led to several missed activities. Our honeymoon was a mess, a disaster, it lacked the assurances of fun, relaxation, and essential things like food for my wife. This honeymoon was terrible and there was no need for it. I even contacted Travel about the issues and heard back this weekend. The response from Royal Caribbean was that they offer skim milk on their ship and my wife and I it should have been able to find gluten-free options... Despicable!!!!! Cruised with my wife and another couple choosing this cruise because of the 8 nights and ports of call. We are all Diamond members and have cruised exclusively on RCCL. Flew into Ft. Lauderdale the day before and enjoyed our stay at the Embassy Suites. Took a Taxi to the cruise port arriving at 10:45 am and was on the ship by 11:30 am eating lunch. Embarkation was smooth and all the RCCL workers were friendly and helpful. One change is that you do not get your sea pass card until you get to your room at 1 pm. One complaint is the muster drill. I know it is mandatory but our station was directly facing the sun and we were packed in like sardines for 20 minutes in 85 degree heat sweating profusely. Some people could not take it and walked inside to get some air, made me half sick to my stomach. We had a inside cabin on the 7th floor with a window facing the promenade and our room attendant Joel was excellent, keeping our room clean, stocked with ice and answering any questions we had. We ate in the MDR 6 nights and found the food very good. Some nights better than others but overall the selection was diverse. We ate in Chops and had a excellent meal and in Giovannis Table and found the food and service just OK. The Windjammer was very good for Breakfast and Lunch, especially enjoyed the fresh fruit everyday. Enjoyed the Ice Show and comedians and the RCCL singers and dancers were above average compared to some shows I have seen on other ships. One complaint is the Cruise Director was as plastic as you could get. Compared to some of the excellent Cruise Directors we have sailed with in the past he was below average. The Love and Marriage Game could have been better but he was just going through the motions. All 4 felt this way about him whenever he emceed an event. We have a motto that sometimes things are not going to be perfect so we go with the flow and don't let the small things bother you and ruin your vacation. The RCCL employees try hard to please everyone and keep the ship clean as possible in the time they have. I am an early riser and found employees cleaning at 6 am with a smile on there face and a Good Morning when I went for coffee. The pool area on Cruise Days were packed but we were able to find a place in the shade and if we wanted sun we sat on the edge of the pool enjoying the music and atmosphere. Because of the time of the year there were very few children on board. Labadee is a fun day, just a beautiful place to relax. Did not do excursions because we had been to the ports of call San Juan, St. Kitts and St Martin several times but still enjoy shopping at St. Martin and St. Kitts. The Diamond Club is a nice perk but with over 630 members on board RCCL needs to find an alternative to how people were served. The concierge was rude and not helpful and did not make RCCL any friends when asked about the situation. Especially when the serving area is packed in a room that seats an estimated 40 to 50 people. We are planning on cruising again on RCCL with an Hawaii Cruise on the Ovation of the Seas in the fall of 2019. Read Less

We booked this trip as a quick recharge vacation. The price for a balcony was perfect and being a re-positioning cruise, there were days at sea where it felt okay to do nothing but catch up on sleep, eat well, and read. We had an overall mixed experience. What was good: -Dining staff and services was fantastic. We ate in Chops and Giovanni and the main dining room and all our waiters were fantastic. The food was great, we left full and happy every night. -Our excursion in St. Marten was wonderful, we did the half day catamaran/snorkeling excursion. The staff was informative, the boat was clean, the company was good and it included lunch and beverages. I would do this again. What we disliked: -The art auction was awful purely because they masked an opportunity for a free piece of art by handing out credit card forms and not explaining what they were doing. It was very shady. I am suspicious of the art sales on board anyway, but this was the first time I had seen this happen and I was horrified at how they were taking advantage of people like that. Awful. -Our room was dated, which was fine, it was clean, however, our bed, which was two twin beds pushed together, would separate at night, we joked that there was a 'pit of despair' in the middle keeping us a part. Annoying more than anything. -Activities and entertainment was okay, but felt light, especially for a trip where most time was spent on the boat. We didn't do much because our dinner time was at a time when most evening activities took place. I think overall, it felt short staffed, but not sure if that is typical for a re-positioning cruise. I chose Royal Caribbean because it was supposed to be the best, in every category. I've cruised before on 2 different Carnival cruises and they were awesome, so I wanted to go a "level up" to RC. I went with my boyfriend, who had never cruised before. I can't eat dairy, so dining was difficult. Nothing is labeled, so you don't know if things contain milk, or are cooked with butter vs oil etc. The only person who knows how dishes are cooked is the chef on staff, which is not an easy/quick way to find out. The food overall tasted good but there were not many healthy options or dairy-free ones. No desserts were dairy free, unless requested a day ahead of time in the dining room. I didn't like that the themed restaurants were an extra fee. Cruises should be all-inclusive I.M.O. especially if you pay extra for alcohol etc. The entertainment onboard was not so great... the Carnival shows I remember were very good and packed at every show. We left after 5-10 min with every show we went to see. The one thing we were excited for was an outdoor movie on the deck that was cancelled without any notice or reason. The pools were also closed for a full "cruising" day for some reason. The staff was SO friendly and happy and willing to help with whatever you needed. Especially in the dining room. There was a couple bartenders who were NOT which was a bummer.. One thing I wish I knew, was that the end "port" wasn't a port, and you had to leave the boat by 10am. Not sure how people did excursions since you couldn't get back on the boat after to shower etc. before going to the airport. The busses take you straight to the airport and you don't go anywhere else. So really you only have the 2 ports to do stuff at. We stopped at St. Thomas & St. Maarten. In St. Thomas we took a ride to Magen's Bay which cost $20 each and $5 each to get in the beach. So $50 to be at the beach for 2 hours where you could do that on the boat and also eat/drink for free. We expected the beach to be a free thing.. maybe more info on the ports online would be good to add. St Maarten we took a water taxi to the beach ($7 each) and there just walked around and swam for a little and had a beer at a bar on the strip. Lots of beach vendors literally RUNNING after us to get us to rent chairs on the beach. Which is uncomfortable when you're in an unfamiliar place.. There was just a lot that wasn't explained ahead of time or available on the website, and the quality was a lot less than expected with such a highly rated line. It felt stressful to me. Like if you ate at a different place they would charge you, if you lost a towel or someone took it they charge $25, or if you got a coffee you might pay for it but wouldn't know until after.. and the excursions didn't seem worth the extra money either. I will probably just go to an all inclusive resort next time for peace of mind and easier traveling. Read Less

This was my 12th RC Cruise.. I am very loyal to Royal and I am currently suffering from cruise depression. For the most part, I had a great time. Food and Entertainment were off the charts AMAZING for me. We loved the game shows, contests, etc, and all of the cruise staff was very friendly. They were super personable and got to know us on a first name basis (especially if you participate, they will be buddies with you). I also was highly impressed with the food this time. In the past, the food was just average for me, but this time, I think they really stepped up their game in both the Windjammer and Main Dining Room. They had a really good variety each day. I did have some issues getting on board the ship. Apparently, they either had some faulty cards that would not scan OR their printer was not working correctly (I never really got a clear answer) and I had to stand to the side right after we boarded the ship so they could print me a new card. I was there for around 15 minutes, while others scanned in and got on the ship, I just stood there waiting. My boyfriend's card, who was literally right in front of me, worked just fine. They never came, so the lady told me to go to guest services to get a new one. At guest services, they were concerned that I must have gotten onto the ship somehow without going through security (?) and didn't believe my story.. Finally, the girl that was supposed to come bring me a new card came back and said it should be fine.. but low and behold, it didn't work at the Windjammer bar. I had to go back down AGAIN and get a new one printed. That was kind of a bummer on the first day, but no more issues after that. Other thoughts.. The bar service was horrible. This cruise had maybe 4 dozen kids, so the bar staff probably was not prepared for that many adults at all times at every venue. There were some times we had to wait 20 minutes for a drink (Imperial Lounge, Blue Moon, and Boleros were the worst.) Main dining room bar service was horrible also. We would be finished with appetizers before our drinks ever came. Cabin cleanliness.. Well, our cabin was refurbished with fresh carpet and a new chair, but it wasn't very clean. The bathroom had dark hairs in the shower, and there was a wine cork under the toilet area that was there when we arrived and sat there for 3 days before we threw it away.. I also NEVER met my stateroom attendant. lol. They just never introduced themselves and I never saw him cleaning - although my boyfriend did meet him, I thought it was strange he never introduced himself to me. PLEASE GO TO ALL OF THE GAMESHOWS. They are hilarious and definitely worth attending each night. We did not do any excursions this time. In St. Thomas, we went to the Mountain Top which was absolutely incredible. I would love to go again. Also, I noticed moreso on this cruise that the crew was going out of their way to sell on the first few days. Drink packages, specialty dining, etc, and they would come up to you while you were just sitting down enjoying a drink or walking past like mall kiosks do. That was pretty annoying, but it definitely calmed down after the first day. All in all, we LOVED this ship and plan to go back in 6 months for the New England/ Canada itinerary!! Read Less

This was my and my wife's third cruise, all on different lines. That's now given us a good basis for comparison but it's also spoiled us a little bit, because every cruise has been amazing in its own way. Each line and ship has its own strengths, and occasional weaknesses. We had a Grand Suite on this cruise, which is something I really recommend. For the most part we were able to show up and just walk onto the ship, with a quick stop at the check-in desk (but in the VIP line, which had no wait). The benefits of having a suite are more than we expected. Of course the room, bathroom and balcony are bigger, but the Suite Lounge turned out to be one of our favorite places on the ship, especially because they give unlimited free alcohol during happy hour. There's also a party for suite guests midway through the cruise that also has free booze. And we made pretty good use of the VIP seats in some of the venues too (though some aren't very good seats - in the Lyric Theater, they're in the balcony!). Disembarkation was the same - with the suite, we were able to just walk off the ship as soon as de-boarding started. (We did check our luggage but didn't have an airport transfer, so being in group 1, we were able to leave right away.) There was already a massive line for Customs when we got to the terminal, but we got the VIP line so sailed right past it. I mean, I'm not a big capitalist at heart, but you do get what you pay for with a Grand Suite on this ship! This was a positioning cruise so it was much cheaper - normally we wouldn't have been able to afford it. (Top tip: look for a positioning cruise!) The ship itself is big and nice to look at, with fairly traditional designs for most things that feel like they belong on a ship. The Sapphire Dining Room, for example, looks like something you might have seen on a golden era ocean liner. The one massive exception, which must have been a big innovation when the ship was built, is the "Royal Promenade" running down the middle of the ship. This looks really impressive when you first see it, until you realize it's basically just an indoor mall. That's it. There's not really any reason to go there unless you feel the need to buy a watch on a ship, or fill up your soda cup at one of the two soda machines. The other ships I've been on have had central atriums that serve the same purpose, but somehow they feel a little more "ship-like", and the bars and whatnot feel like real destinations in themselves. The Royal Promenade's bars and restaurants feel like eating or drinking at the mall, and we never ate or drank there after the first day. Another unique thing that stayed impressive for us is the ice rink, which I know now is a Royal Caribbean trademark. We went to the ice show twice - it was amazing to think you can see such a thing on a ship. It was beautiful, although as you can imagine there were a few moving-ship-related falls. I don't even know how they do some of those jumps or one-foot spinning moves while the ship is pitching and rolling. Speaking of food, we thought the dining room food was *really* good for the most part, and we ate there every night but one. They do repeat a lot of appetizers and desserts, but the main courses were mostly different every night, and I don't think I ate anything that I didn't force myself to finish, no matter how full I was. It was just too good to leave anything behind. I especially enjoyed the prime rib and New York strip steak. The Windjammer buffet is... well, it's a ship's buffet. It's exactly like the other buffets on the other ships we've been on. Some stuff is good, other stuff is "eh". The pizza was just bad. But at least you will never go hungry. Breakfast is a particular weak point, as it always seems to be in ship buffets. They did have one day for lunch when they set up about 10 different meat carving stations with different freshly carved meats, and that was neat. Always go for the freshly carved meat if you can - it's usually very good, and there's always at least one station set up. We were on a Valentine's Day cruise so they really pushed us at every opportunity to make reservations at a specialty restaurant. Giovanni's Table finally wore me down and I made one there when they actually called me in our room. But I didn't regret it - even though the dining room was good, Giovanni's Table was a noticeable step up, and I had seriously one of the best filet mignons I've ever had there. The service was also on another level, and of course the decor is like a real restaurant. This ship has two main pools - the regular pool and the Solarium, which is the better of the two (if you're an adult, as you have to be there). The regular pool area was constantly overcrowded, and even the VIP loungers were always fully taken. The Solarium was never quite as crowded, although it feels a little more quiet and enclosed. (But it's just on the other side of one door from the regular pool, so you can easily go back and forth.) I really missed the aft pool like the other ships we've taken have - the aft section of the pool deck on this ship is taken up by the Flowrider surf simulator and the waterslide. I know who they're trying to appeal to with these things, but I didn't see many people using them, and given how overcrowded the main pool is, I really think they should just install another pool and bar back there instead. The Lyric Theater hosted a couple of comedy shows, a couple of dance shows and a comedy/musical tribute show on our cruise, and we went to all of them once. The entertainers were all really good/funny, and the singing/dancing shows I thought were very professional. (My wife wasn't that impressed by the Latin dance show, but I was.) In terms of shore excursions, we booked the Magen's Bay Beach day at St. Thomas, and did our own thing in St. Maarten. I got the impression when booking that a lot of stuff still isn't really running in the Caribbean since the hurricanes (no zip-lining option, for example!), and St. Maarten, especially, is still just in a really bad state. This was our fourth visit so we wanted to see how some of our favorite places had held up, and a lot of them are basically destroyed. The whole of Grand Case and most of its restaurants is just a shell - though we had a great lunch at one of the LOLO's there, which are open. The Sonesta Maho Beach is totally gutted. Orient Bay Beach is basically gone - I mean there is nothing there, and even all the trees and beach bars are missing! It's very sad. RCI did have beach excursions set up that I heard were fine, but much of the island isn't. Still, they want tourists and need the money, so go! As for Magen's Bay and St. Thomas, it was in much better shape, though there was obvious hurricane damage throughout the island as well. Hopefully in a couple years, the region will have fully recovered. So check the date if you're reading this in the future. One thing - in addition to being a Valentine's Day cruise, this was also an anniversary cruise for my wife and me. I had ordered one of the room decor packages for our anniversary, and RCI somehow lost my order. Big problem! At 9PM that day, I went to the front desk, and they found my order but it had somehow not ever made it to room service. They straightened it out and we finally got the room decorated (plus our cake), and they were very apologetic about it. In the end, my wife was very surprised and happy. But this is actually the second time I've had this experience on different cruise lines - so if you've got a surprise planned, always check in advance to make sure it's going to happen. All in all, not much to really complain about other than that and the overcrowding at the main pool, and maybe a few minor things about the way RCI designs its ships. Read Less

We sailed on the Eastern itinerary with stops in St. Maarten, St Kitts, Antigua, St. Lucia, and Barbados. We arrived the day before and stayed at the Courtyard Isla Verde. It's a nice property that allowed us to have some beach time before we boarded. As checkout was 11:00 we took a taxi then to the terminal. At the terminal, we checked our bags quickly and then had to wait until after 12:00 for the doors to open to check in. It was chaotic at this time, and if I had to do it again I would arrive a few hours later once things settled down. Once in check in was quick and we were on board within 15 minutes of entering the building. For the stops: - St Maarten - took a private tour with a day pass at the Sonesta Maho beach. Fantastic! - St. Kitts - booked Thenford Grey's Grand tour. Well worth it. - Antigua - Had the ships snorkel and kayak booked, but this was canceled due to weather. Walked around port, but not much to see. This did make a good down day after the prior two - St Lucia - Took the ships zip lining by the Pitons. Very nice boat ride back and forth. The zip lining was ok. - Barbados - Hired Carson Moore for a tour of the island. Highly recommended. The service in the main dining and the cabin was great with the staff going out of their way to ensure we had what we needed. The food in the main dining was mostly good and the Windjammer was what you would expect for this style of buffet. The ship as a whole is showing some wear and will definitely benefit from it's October scheduled dry dock. All in all, we had a good time and are looking forward to seeing the Adventure next year after the refresh. Read Less

Myself and wife enjoyed our 7 day cruise to Eastern Caribbean aboard AOS. Loved the ship loads to do and amazing atmosphere. Slightly tired ship in some areas but only when you look closely at things. Loved the main pools on ship, both were great, sun beds around pool were fantastic however on our one sea say this area was very busy as expected. Schooner bar was great, first place we went, slightly different to other ships but still nice. I had a shot on rock climbing wall which was brilliant, great condition. Basketball court was also good. Ice rink looked amazing never got on to skate but watched ice show which was fantastic. For dining we were in Mozart on deck 5. Picked our table on first night table 576 near to entrance and overlooking lower dining rooms. Our waiter manuel and assistant Brian were both very good. Really attentive and helpful. We found food to be excellent always found something to eat on menu. One night I chose to order fillet steak from chops grill and wow what steak it was so delicious. All other food in windjammer and cafe promenade was great, couldn't fault it. Some people do but I think they must be fussy eaters or really picky. Drinks aboard ship were expensive as expected from previous cruises. So no big deal really. One bad point was the back elevators always seemed to be busy and very slow at coming. Ports we stopped at were amazing. St croix was small and not much to do if you didn't have tour booked or just wanted to walk about. Still nice though. St marten was great got water taxi across to shops and beach. Lovely place, loads of shops. Barbados was good. We booked a tour to snorkel with turtles and see some ship wrecks. Had an amazing time both of us loved the tour and tour staff. St Johns we wished we done more here, heard lovely things from others who say it was beautiful but we mostly stayed in port. This was the one port that seemed very busy and people would maybe feel slightly unsafe but stay to public area and don't got down dodgy side streets. St Lucia was good. Walked just off ship around shops and sat in bar right off ship and got wifi. Bought a 2 dollar beer and got free wifi. Fantastic cheaper than buying Royal caribbeans internet package. All in all had a great cruise, fantastic service as expected, amazing ports and so glad we chose this for honeymoon. Read Less

My wife and I have traveled quite a bit over the past 20 years, but as far as cruises go, this was only our third one, and first with Royal Caribbean. For us choosing a cruise meant departing from San Juan, so our choices of ships was much more limited than most. And also my wife was off work for 1 year due to cancer, and the only time we could even think about leaving on vacation was the beginning of April 2015. So this led us to booking a 1 week cruise on Adventure of the Seas. I booked the cruise back at the end of January 2015, and it was to be a complete surprise to my dear wife. It was to be a celebration of our 16th wedding anniversary, and her 1st anniversary of beating out cancer. But when she started talking about going away to NYC on Easter weekend... darn, I had to spill the beans. Hotel Information: (5 stars) We left Canada two days before the cruise, and wanted to spend some time in San Juan and get into the vacation spirit before embarkation. My son have been on a cruise in Jan 2015 from San Juan and we had originally booked the same hotel in the Condado area, but after talking with him we cancelled and decided it was to be Old San Juan for us. So we booked at The Gallery Inn, a small 22 room hotel in which the buildings are several hundred years old. The building is original to say the least. Even our room had no real windows (the windows were cut out on the two large wooden doors). There was no TV in the room, and that was perfect for us. It was very beautifully decorated, very old style furniture, and definitely no the Four Seasons, but that is exactly what makes the charm of the place. The owner and staff were wonderful and met our every need. I would definitely stay here again. Embarkation: (4.5 stars) On Sunday we were to board around 2h30 pm (deck 9). We took a taxi out of Old San Juan (not an easy thing to do, especially on Easter Sunday as there was a lot of traffic). When we got to the Pan American pier there was quite a few people in line, and it was a bit difficult to figure out what we had to do, and we here to get in line. However I can say that the check-in process was really quick, and within 30-40 minutes we had out Set Sail passes and were on-board the ship. The Ship: We knew this was not one of the newer ships that are out there, but that did not stop us from booking. The ship is still larger than the ones we had on our last two cruises. It is a lot less glitzsy that the cruise we took with Carnival, which kind of resembled a disco. Although the decor is sombre, it gave us the feeling of being on a more luxurious ship (I know, that is all in our head.. lol). Cabin: We were on deck 9, Cabin 9640 and it was real nice, and we loved it. No complaints from us. Everything was spacious, everything worked as it should and we just loved it. The balcony was great, and we had breakfast on it 3 mornings, and each day around 5 pm we would sit outside and just enjoy the sounds of the seas. Service: Our cabin steward was there for our every request and was very attentive to our needs. However to be fair we did not call upon him too often, being as independent as we both are. Service in the bars, restaurant and other areas was top notch. Shore excursions: We did not take any shore excursions with Royal Caribbean. We are very independent, and we booked our own tours, or taxi service on all of the islands we visited. We rented a car at St. Maarten for the day, having been there previously on two other vacations. I will not go into any details of our excursions, as the review would never end). Activities: The few shows we got to see were very good. We did not see shows every night because on a couple of occasions we met some very interesting people from San Juan at the dining room, and we just stayed on longer to exchange conversations. To us, that was much more interesting than any show (although don't get me wrong, shows are great). We did not visit the casino, as we just don,t believe in giving our money away. We have the government taking care of it already.. haha!! We did visit the disco (Jester's) on a few occasions and had a great time, but more often that not we ended up in one of the ships bars (Schooner, Champagne, Lobby, Crown) and had drinks, met people, talked to staff and just had a ball. We never did get to sleep before 1 am most nights, except for the one night I did not feel well, having taken too much sun in St Martin. Adella (and Navil?) in the Schooner Bar were superb.. two thumbs up for their service and friendly company. We did other stuff on the ship, but it would be just too long to write, and we did not doing anything out of the ordinary, that other folks have not done before. Dining: (Food 5 stars, Service 4 stars, Facilities 3 stars) We had the My-time dining in the Mozart dining room on Deck 5. This was probably the only negative thing about our cruise. Royal Caribbean really needs to work out their My-Time dining as we did have to wait 30-40 minutes on a few nights. And we had reserved out dining times! The non-reserved line was going in much quicker. It was really not the attendants fault, as she was doing her best to ensure we were serviced asap. I think they just have an issue when a lot of people show up (and we were never more than 8-10 in line). On the other nights it was very smooth.. Food was excellent, and our servers (Albino and Julio) were always doing their best to give us their recommendations for the meals. Even if we chose something else, they would bring us a small plate with extra food for us to taste. They were great, no negative comments here, except on busy nights it was a bit slower than usual. But, hey, we were on vacation. No issues for us. One thing that really bothered me was the lack of sufficient air conditioning in the Mozart Dining Room. It would have been much more pleasant had it been a few degrees cooler, and with some better air circulation. It was very very hot dressed up in a tuxedo. Giovanni's was superb. It was our 16th wedding anniversary, and even though we had the ultimate drink package I ordered a very nice bottle of Champagne (Perrier-Jouet) and our meal was divine. Our server was Narcisso and he was the best. 5 stars to him, the food and the atmosphere that night. Entertainment: We did see a few shows as mentioned earlier. And we spent a few nights at Schooner's Bar, when they had a piano player who had a pretty bad voice at times. Even he said he did not know why he was hired, and I agreed with that. But he also was comical, and would get people to come up and sing and participate in the songs. We sang so many songs, that we ended up having a ball. It ended up being a great place to spend a few hours each night. Drinks: (5 stars) We had taken the ultimate drink package, so there was nothing for us to worry about each day. just order a drink, and ask for some premium alcohol, which we always got, and in generous portions too. The drinks were great, the service was great. Photographers: (5 stars) Given we got a $200 credit for on-board spending, the wife and I took the full photo package (photos and CD)­. Wow, the photos were amazing, and we had over 75 pics taken during the cruise. They don't just take one photo of you when you meet them, they take 5-6 at a time, in different poses. We even had some laying on the ground on Deck 3 at the photo studio. I had brought along two tuxedos (one black, one white) and another suit, and the wife was beautiful in her dresses. This was the best move we did (along with beverage package) of the cruise. Disembarkation: (5 stars) For us on our last two cruises this portion of the cruise was a real nightmare. We had originally been scheduled to disembark at 8h00 but since we were staying an extra night in San Juan, I asked to have it changed to 11h00. Customer Services was very easy, and it was changed in a matter of seconds. When we arrived at our meeting place (Studio B on Deck 3) at a few minutes to 11 we were told there was a 45-50 minute delay. No issues, we'll just grab a coffee and get a seat. Well we never had time to finish our coffee, we were called to leave, and at about 11h25 we were sitting in a taxi cab with our luggage on our way to our hotel. We actually disembarked earlier than was scheduled. Summary: I was very hesitant to take this cruise. Some of the other reviewers did not always have great comments on the overall ship and service. But for us this was definitely the best cruise we took so far (yeah, I know we only took 3). The cruise is what you make of it, and we always bear in mind that we are on vacation... so why run when you can walk and enjoy the scenery. We loved this cruise, and would definitely do another one with Royal Caribbean. We cannot compare it to the new, bigger ships however. But when I look at our 3 cruises... I can say each had it's better things than the other, but overall they were all great. We loved everything we did (and did not do)... so for us 5 stars for the cruise. We loved it so much, we are now looking for another cruise to take. We have some friends who said they would like us to go with them, as the idea of cruising makes them nervous. So who knows, maybe this fall or next winter. Next winter for sure, if not sooner. Read Less

We did a back to back cruise and I thoroughly enjoyed my honeymoon cruise aboard this ship. Royal Caribbean has always been my cruise company of choice. It was great to see my crown and anchor points starting to add up! The crown and anchor scheme offers excellent bonus treats, discounts and members only events. I highly recommend it to everyone. We received wonderful service on this ship, which makes a big difference to your cruise. They had planned a honeymoon brunch for us, which was a lovely surprise. Unfortunately I felt sea sick so couldn't attend. The few other newlyweds who attended said it was good fun. Thankfully sea sickness tabs are available free of charge and they generally work well with me. Our destinations were amazing, as were the planned excursions. Hati by far being my favourite port. They serve a lovely brunch out on the island/port. Even if you haven't booked any excursions in Haiti you can get off and enjoy the sand, sea, music and sun. The zip line going across the beach looks like good fun. Dining was excellent. Just like I previously remember it. The fine dining restaurants are very romantic. He did a great job Dinning- i have too recognized Ibrahim and Leon they were our dinning assistants there service was like treating a family, i could say the best experience i ever had and royal caribbean!!!! And the foooood was wonderful, lobster, lamb, shrimp, chicken....mmmm just all you can eat!!!! Public rooms- public bathroomss were more clean that the Rits Carton Hotel main bathroom Pool- i love the pool area, clean and loved the jacuzzi area there were enough for everyone, not crowded Entertainment-well i think that for this cruise the entertainment could do better.....the disco open at midnight , at the bars there were the same singers every night.....casino there were no lucky machines just eat your cash, pool was too cold to get in at night, basketball or sport at night you cant play because of the wind, game room (arcade) to expensive for any machine you have to pay 1.50 up....the shows :/ just liked 1 of 3 Drinks- for a cruise i think the prices of the drinks were good!!! A big frozen margarita for $7.50 mean while in on the border i pay $9.99 for same size...so pricing was good!!! They have drink package but alchol is not included Excursions- i did my excursions with royal caribbean we had a great time we snorkel, swim with turtles, we went to the beach, do shopping etc...but is reallllly expensive but more safe.....is like $40 -$70-$100 per person... It depends in the tip of excursion boarding- getting out of the cruise was a dissaster!!!!!!!!! Completly disorganized, i think that royal caribbean should orinted more there cruise members so they could oriented correctly us.....wow i think from 1 to 10 i give a 0 on this......i waited from 8am to 11a to get out of the ship....this was horrible so be preperad.....to get in the ship is more relaxing and very quick. Boarding: we got to the pier around noon, dropped our luggage and went to priority line, which was not too long. We were with friends and in the shade so we talked and time passed quickly even though we were all looking forward to board the ship. Doors opened at 1:00 p.m. Once the doors opened it went rather quickly, we were on board by 1:25. All in all, better than I expected considering the horror stories of last few weeks. Stateroom:: we were able to go to our cabins at 1:30.We had GS 1324, which i consider the best GS on the ship for its location. Our attendant was great, he kept place clean and provided me with anything I requested with a smile. Cruise director: what a nice surprise....Richard Spacey as the cruise director. We had him on Oasis back in August and I consider him the most entertaining cruise director. Portofinos: before we boarded, they decided to switch the mystery dinner to the night we had picked....Our group was not happy with that. Thank God for Dina for fixing this for us and getting us the night we picked as the second best option. Place was packed, service was slow, but with a large table, we were 10, it is to be expected....but a tad too slow.... The only thing i do not like on that ship is the fact that there is only 1 specialty restaurant. Diamond lounge: exceptional service in the lounge every night and the place was packed. Concierge: Dina was great. She was able to get us the bridge tour. I wanted my husband to see that. Excursions: we did not book any with the ship this time. Dining: they had mixed up our linked reservations but did fix it, so everything worked out fine. Our waiters, were not that great this time around and not memorable, i cannot remember their name. The only one i remember is Igor from the first night and we could not keep him, since they switched us table. he dropped in to say Hi for the rest of the week since he was the table just on the other side of the wall. Quest: well with Richard Spacey there and the participants....I must say i laughed a lot....never dull these nights! 70s night: I dress up and always have fun!!!! Miami style deck party: our group had blast there until 2 am!!!!!! Cafe Promenade: best place for pizza after dancing at Jesters!!! There was only 1 night, they did not have any around 2:30..What???? Condition of the ship: mini- golf....come on, its been a while, get on with it and fix it.....rest, is fine, yes some carpets in some areas are starting to show a bit of wear and tear, but nothing so bad that I really stop and stare. Getting off the ship: we left at 10:30 and it went quite fast....airport was another story. The line to get to the US Airways counter was half a mile long!!!!! This was my third cruise - my first time on Royal Caribbean and my first in and out of San Juan. My boyfriend and I went together - we're mid 30s professionals from San Francisco. The first and last day of the cruise were the nicest weather-wise. All days in between were rainy and overcast. We skirted a tropical storm, had one port cancelled and spent an extra day at sea. The day at sea would have been nice if the sun was shining, but it was cloudy and rainy. Twice we went through serious thunder and lightening storms and once a communication tower was stuck by lightning. GREAT! However, this is a cruise ship review so I'm pleased to say I loved the ship! Adventure of the Seas is bright, colorful and beautiful. The ship is full of different types of art everywhere. The promenade was truly impressive - nothing like that on Princess! Entertainment: The activities were non-stop and attracted a lot of people. From afternoon movie trivia, to acoustic guitar, to a 70s dance party in the street, there was always something going on. This is typically the case for cruise ships but to our surprise almost all activities were well attended by enthusiastic, happy participants. People played, danced, drank and just had fun from day 1 to day 7! Most ship activities seemed to take place from 5pm to midnight, after people returned from port. Photo-takers were plentiful and they produced good photos for reasonable prices. The shows were great too! We enjoyed all the shows to varying degree even though we would never see something like the Temptations tribute or the male singers at home. The ice show was excellent. The dancing was great, the costumes and sets were well done. We enjoyed our cruise director Chris Northey and came to feel like we knew him over the week. He mostly appeared before and after the shows but was silly and entertaining. He excelled in his role as host during the Love and Marriage show and Quest. Nighttime music and dancing: Unlike some Princess cruises, we - nightlife lovers - were never disappointed by the variety and abundance of late night music. We enjoyed very authentic salsa music in the Blue Moon two nights and danced at Jester's other nights. The casino was hopping most nights, karaoke was popular in the Imperial Lounge, and much more. In short - we were very pleased with the lively entertainment and enthusiastic attendance on this ship. We did not feel old!! Food: Dinner: We tried the second seating dinning for the first time and were pleased that RCI placed us with other couples around our age. Our table was assigned 5 couples, most of whom came every night. We had a lot of fun, and a lot of wine, and it was great to look forward to catching up with everyone after a day on our own. Even though we were from different parts of the countries and political views, conversations never got out of hand. There was always a consensus of fun and respect. Of course, we were often commiserating about the bad weather and complaining about cancelled excursions. We bought a five bottle wine package which made choosing bottles simpler. I recommend this just to make your cruise a bit more special. After the first night our "customer-first" waiter got a handle on all our demands and eccentricities and provided great service. The food varied, I must say. As a result our whole table typically ordered two or more appetizers or entries each. If you like an entrEe - for example the lobster - order a second when you're ready. It will come much quicker and is usually fresher or hotter than the first one. Since many portions are small we didn't waste food when we ordered multiple dishes. Some food was disappointing but it was never inedible. Seafood was always good, especially the catch of the day and the salmon. Lunch in the main dining was available on the two sea days and was worth it. They have a special salad station that was great. Windjammer food was boring and blah. Since I don't eat meat, only seafood and vegetarians options, I didn't have many choices. The pasta was overcooked or greasy. People said the hamburgers were soggy. Anyway, we didn't expect much from here. Room: We had an inside stateroom on Deck 7. Yes, towel animals. Yes, enough space. Minimal ship movement. We liked the interactive tv where you can view your bill. Did not like all those mirrors at every single angle - but that's just me! Embarkation/Disembarkation: We avoided a HUGE line to get on by simply carrying on our two pieces of luggage each. We rolled our bags straight to our cabin around 3pm so it was a cinch. After the cruise we were in no hurry to leave since we had 2 more nights in San Juan so we had breakfast, packed, got our of our room around 9:30 and strolled right off the boat at 10:15 without any labels/tags, leaving bags in the hall, waiting areas or anything. If you pack (relatively) light, just DIY! Ports: Barbados: walked around town, got caught in the rain, hailed a taxi to a beach, went straight from the taxi to underneath a lifeguard station because it was pouring. Watched from there as the beautiful turquoise waters turned brown due to the swells and sand that was churned up. He stood under the station while I went swimming. I stood under the station while he went swimming. We went back to the boat and it was still pouring. AH, THE CARIBBEAN! St. Lucia. It rained less, we did a 3 hour drive plus a local "historical living" experience where we sample fruit and stayed on Rodney Bay beach for a couple of hours while dark clouds passed over us but never split. Antigua was cancelled so this was a sea day. St. Maartin. It rained twice while we were on the island, both time we happened to be safe in a minibus in between Phillipsburg and Marigot. $2 each way. Not much to do in Phillipsburg unless you want to buy diamonds or watches or drink beer by the beach. In Marigot we were amused by the infusion of French shops, banks, food and language, but were dismayed by the high prices in Euros. St. Croix. It didn't rain but was overcast with threatening clouds the entire day. Nevertheless we paid $25 for a roundtrip to Cane Bay complete with beach chair and snorkeling equipment. We snorkeled - good snorkeling - and relaxed, had a beer. The only thing lacking was the sun. One complaint: Since it was rainy most days I would have liked to sleep in but there wasn't anyway of knowing what the weather would be (inside cabin). The ship camera on the bow/tv didn't show rain, just whether it was sunny or not. A weather predication/report would be a nice feature on the tv... Of course, most people will probably have SUNNY x 7, it was just our bad luck. In short - great ship, lots of fun night activities for our age group and young adults! Read Less
