We took this cruise as part of a specific group, so neither the ship nor the itinerary was our choice. That said, we had a good time overall and give Royal Caribbean an A- for the experience. The Ship: The ship is older than most we sail, and it’s age shows. Colors/decoration are dated. The ship has been updated, but with heavy use it is in need of some tweaks. Carpets are worn, furniture is sometimes stained, and sheets/towels are showing wear. The ship is clean, however metal deterioration is visible under paint, paint is scuffed, etc. Nothing major, but if you expect a new, glitzy ship, Adventure isn’t for you. The big plus for us, after having last sailed RC on the Allure, is it’s smaller size. The layout is somewhat similar, just on a more human scale. There were times it felt crowded, but overall no more so than Allure. Elevators were inconsistent, but generally adequate. The Dining: The food was better than we expected. The main dining room was very good, considering they serve ~2,000 meals at each setting. The specialty restaurants were very good - we had the 3-meal package - and both Izumi and Chops served very good food with excellent service. We enjoyed the Chef’s Table food/wine pairing very much, however the venue on this ship is not ideal - it is a small half-level in the main dining room, so it is too loud to hear the chef’s descriptions clearly and enjoy visiting with others at the 12-person table. The buffet was fine for breakfast/lunch - both changed little during the week, but the food was freshly-made and plentiful, and the service was the best we have experienced in a mass-market ship buffet. Service throughout the ship was top notch. Special shout-outs to Iputu at the Promenade coffee bar (can’t imagine how he remembered my name, but after day 2 he called me by my name and remembered my husband’s name BEFORE I ordered. Are you listening RC? - this man deserves a promotion!), and our room steward, Nahroni, was very gracious and efficient - he always greeted us with a smile and a minute to catch up, no matter the time of day. The room stewards are very busy on RC ships, but we never waited for our room to be made up or lacked for anything in our cabin. That brings me to the survey RC sends out online. There is no place to thank special people, only places to note failures. Come on, RC, you’re missing an opportunity to find your best people. A very ‘corporate’ approach to a very human experience. Embarkation: It was among the best we have experienced. Quick and efficient (we had filled out the online registry, with photo, so they had little to do at check in. A tip: take a taxi/Uber from your hotel to the port rather than shuttles from nearby hotels for a faster boarding at nearly the same cost - the shuttles stop at all the ships and Adventure is farthest from the hotels. Debarkation: It was a nightmare. Took over 3 hours after our scheduled debarkation time to actually complete the process. Only 4 customs agents for nearly 3,000 passengers, but that is a port problem the cruise line cannot impact. Fort Lauderdale is very busy and experiencing growing pains. Be sure you have an extra dose of patience on debarkation day. The good news - the airport is upgrading, and our departure on Southwest was in a brand new and spacious facility. We have cruised over 10 times, with several lines, including upscale providers. That is enough to make the best decision for us, and we would sail RC and Adventure again if the group/itinerary were right. Read Less

50 year reunion of the Dupont High school Belle WV Embarkation and disembarking was very smooth although a long walk for each. Ship was very clean but hallways were quite narrow. problematic when stewart carts were in hall and room service trays left in hall. the were kicked several time by our party of four while walking the halls to public areas. Dining was much improved over the oasis of the seas i was on in november. Entertainment was very good. service was excellent and the people working on the ship seemed to enjoy their jobs and it does make a difference to see happy people. i did not bar drinking since their prices are twice the price you can get the onshore. i made no purchases other than 2 10 dollar tee's. i remember seeing a can of pringles for sale at the general store for 5.99. you can get these on shore for 1 dollar to 1.50. i love cruising but have been able to show restraint while onboard due to the nickel and dollaring done by the lines. i just wish they would be reasonable to the captive audience the have instead of trying to milk every one dry. i would bet if the charges half of what they do now they would increase sales to equal the profit they now receive Read Less

The embarkation and disembarkation was very very smoothly. Because I was traveling on previous years, I know the ship very well and it is very nice to travel on it . The cabin is spacious and well located, also, the service is pretty good. Related to the dinning room, It was exceptional located and best service is offered to guest. The maitres was very frendly with my wife and I. The are a lot of activities on the ship to entertain youth and older people, all activities well organized. I have to mentioned the good service on Windjammer and service desk were the Serv Rep were very frendly with my wife and me. Its important to mention that the ports of PR, St Marteen and Cape Liberty are great ports to visits were Royal caribbean has a lot of excursion available for all. Wit probability if we go to a cruise on next Dec 16, 2018 (4 adults and 2 children) we select the Freedom with new port in Puerto Rico. Best succcess Read Less

I cruise every year with Royal Caribbean. The ships are always very nice and well kept. Unfortunately the food options were a bit lacking in variety. Not a whole lot to choose from in the Windjammer and it is always the same thing and very crowded. The entertainment in the theater and the lounge was not the greatest. Wish there was more activities to do on the pool decks. Finally, I wish RC would adhere to the dress regulations on the formal night. My guests and I chose to dress nice on the 1 or 2 nights considered formal night, but other guests are allowed to come into the restaurant in jeans or much less casual. We almost felt we were overdressed. The ports we visited and the amount of time we stayed on each was great! Overall, I prefer Royal Caribbean even though they are a little more expensive. I hope Royal Caribbean will continue to realize we pay more, so we expect more. Read Less

Boarding: we got to the pier around noon, dropped our luggage and went to priority line, which was not too long. We were with friends and in the shade so we talked and time passed quickly even though we were all looking forward to board the ship. Doors opened at 1:00 p.m. Once the doors opened it went rather quickly, we were on board by 1:25. All in all, better than I expected considering the horror stories of last few weeks. Stateroom:: we were able to go to our cabins at 1:30.We had GS 1324, which i consider the best GS on the ship for its location. Our attendant was great, he kept place clean and provided me with anything I requested with a smile. Cruise director: what a nice surprise....Richard Spacey as the cruise director. We had him on Oasis back in August and I consider him the most entertaining cruise director. Portofinos: before we boarded, they decided to switch the mystery dinner to the night we had picked....Our group was not happy with that. Thank God for Dina for fixing this for us and getting us the night we picked as the second best option. Place was packed, service was slow, but with a large table, we were 10, it is to be expected....but a tad too slow.... The only thing i do not like on that ship is the fact that there is only 1 specialty restaurant. Diamond lounge: exceptional service in the lounge every night and the place was packed. Concierge: Dina was great. She was able to get us the bridge tour. I wanted my husband to see that. Excursions: we did not book any with the ship this time. Dining: they had mixed up our linked reservations but did fix it, so everything worked out fine. Our waiters, were not that great this time around and not memorable, i cannot remember their name. The only one i remember is Igor from the first night and we could not keep him, since they switched us table. he dropped in to say Hi for the rest of the week since he was the table just on the other side of the wall. Quest: well with Richard Spacey there and the participants....I must say i laughed a lot....never dull these nights! 70s night: I dress up and always have fun!!!! Miami style deck party: our group had blast there until 2 am!!!!!! Cafe Promenade: best place for pizza after dancing at Jesters!!! There was only 1 night, they did not have any around 2:30..What???? Condition of the ship: mini- golf....come on, its been a while, get on with it and fix it.....rest, is fine, yes some carpets in some areas are starting to show a bit of wear and tear, but nothing so bad that I really stop and stare. Getting off the ship: we left at 10:30 and it went quite fast....airport was another story. The line to get to the US Airways counter was half a mile long!!!!! For us it was a cruise with friends..we had a blast and the week went way too fast!!!!!!! Read Less
