My husband, our two sons (ages 8 and 10 years old), his aunt, two friends of mine and I all went on the Adventure of the Seas from December 7-15, 2019. We had been on several Royal ships before and our favourite one was the Allure. We chose to ‘downsize’ to the Adventure to allow us to visit the ABC islands. First off, we cannot say enough great things about the islands – they are by far our favourite that we have sailed to on a cruise! Regarding the ship, there were a few downsides besides not having the Abyss, Central Park or the Boardwalk. First off, the artwork that adorned the ship walls was a bit bizarre considering it is a family-type vessel. There are a lot of nudes (and not just upper body) hanging in places. Second, the ship in spots did show its age more than others we have sailed. The shows were also somewhat disappointing. Not so much the talent who were quite good, but the overall plots. We have been spoiled by the Broadway-at-Sea and diving shows on the bigger ships. And Vroom and Surf was spotty at best. We took two interior interconnecting cabins which seemed much smaller than other ships. The beds were quite hard and so we asked our stateroom attendant to add extra blankets to provide a bit more comfort. RCL really needs to change mattresses the next time the ship goes into dry dock. Having said that, we had an amazing trip! I cannot say enough about the crew! They are by far the best we have ever encountered in our eight cruises. They were genuinely friendly and seemed happy to be working onboard. They were knowledgeable and helpful! One thing we discovered that we had never paid attention to before was the country scavenger hunt. You have to find a crew from each of the countries listed on the sheet. (It would have been nice had the ship updated the sheet to be current to sail date but that is a different story lol.) My sons and I had a blast hunting down as many countries as we could and met wonderful people along the way! We literally stalked a few crew but we ultimately won the hunt! We are planning on going for our second win on the Anthem in March. Shout outs to: Johanna, Maria, Leticia, Marisol, and Mobin all from Guest Services, Faye the Ship Comptroller, Hector and Judy deck 6 starboard aft stateroom attendants, Conrad aka Shorty at the Promenade Café, Chicken Nugget in the Kid’s Camp, and especially Vanita in Next Cruise! You are wonderful and made our cruise extra special!!!! Our kids loved the Adventure Ocean kids’ camp. On previous cruises the kids would go slightly begrudgingly and only spend an hour at a time there. This cruise they begged us to go! We gave our son signing privileges for his brother and himself but they often stayed until we forced them to leave. The food was quite good – the braised beef ribs and prime rib were highlights in the main dining room. We were scared that there was no Sorrentos onboard but the pizza at Café Promenade was delicious!!!! We ate far too many slices lol. I had done some research and had been told by people on cruise forums that the ship time stayed with Florida time. I therefore was late for signing up for the ice-skating times the first day it was offered because in fact the ship changed time to local time. I was worried that our kids wouldn’t get a chance to skate but went at the correct time the next sea day skating was offered and all of us got to skate for 30 minutes which was quite fun. We bought the complete digital photo package during a Black Friday special and took advantage every opportunity we could to get shots. We haven’t received ours since returning and are in the process of contacting the photo company to sort things out. The photographers onboard though were great and very patient with our not so patient boys! We really liked listening to Peter James Esau at the Schooners Bar. Switched on Band was amazing! The Almost Elton John show was entertaining. My 10-year-old son laughed hysterically at the mentalist show. And I laughed a lot at Ralph Harris’ show. I was a member of the CruiseCritic group for this cruise and met a lot of great people through these forums. We participated in the slot pull and the duck hunts. Embarkation was a breeze and took no time at all. There was a 30 minute or so delay when we returned back to Fort Lauderdale but that had to do with US Customs and Immigration and was not caused by RCL. However be sure to factor in extra time when thinking about booking your flights home. All in all my family and I had an absolute blast on the Adventure! We would highly recommend sailing on her to anyone!!!!! Read Less

This was a family cruise set in motion by my 86 year old dad, who wanted to cross visiting Aruba off of his bucket list. There were 8 of us altogether; my wife and I, my dad, my brother, my cousin and his wife and a second cousin and his girlfriend. We boarded the Adventure of the Seas at Port Everglades in Ft. Lauderdale. Embarkation was smooth, and we were on board the ship in less than an hour. Once on board, we explored the ship and took our time making our way to the Windjammer for lunch. Having read all the advice about avoiding this venue on embarkation day, we still went along with our group, and was surprised to see that while it was crowded, we were able to find a table without too much trouble. The food was typical buffet fare - good and filling but not fantastic. My wife and I booked an interior cabin on deck 10, port side aft. Having booked interior cabins before, we knew what to expect. The room was compact, but clean and comfortable. Since we find that we spend very little time in our cabin on a cruise, an interior space is perfect for our needs and is certainly more affordable. Our cabin steward, Clifton, kept our cabin spotless and regularly inquired if we needed anything. Although we didn't receive them every evening, we were greeted by three or four "towel animals" during our cruise, which are always fun. Adventure of the Seas has enough dining options to satisfy just about everyone. We decided against specialty restaurants on our cruise, and were very happy with the complimentary options that were available. We ate in the main dining room 5 nights, and enjoyed it very much. The meals were tasty and filling. On our second formal night we had prime rib and lobster tail, and were even offered and accepted seconds on the lobster! Our waiter Agnelo and our assistant waiter Eddie, were great! They were friendly, attentive, and entertaining! Eddie brought each meal to a close by sharing magic tricks with us. We still are wondering how he did them! Breakfast was usually in the Windjammer. We enjoy the variety of breakfast foods available. Everyone could find something they liked. I would say too, that the coffee on this ship was much better than what we experienced last year on the Allure of the Seas. Has RCI changed the coffee company it deals with? If so, we applaud the move! We made good use of the Cafe Promenade too. A great place to people watch, enjoy a cup of coffee, or a late night slice (or two or three!) of pizza! We also enjoyed the entertainment options available on the Adventure. Evening shows were varied, and while we didn't think the Royal Caribbean Singers & Dancers were the best we've seen, the orchestra was great! The hypnotist, the Elton John impersonator and the comedian were probably the best of the evening performances. Let me give some praise to Royal Caribbean for a current program running on most, if not all of their ships. One afternoon on a sea day, they had a special Veteran's Reception for all passengers who are vets. The orchestra played military branch tributes, there was a large cake, and special recognition was given to a couple of WW2 veterans in the group. My dad, an Army vet, attended and we were all very touched at this salute to all who have served our nation. Service on Adventure of the Seas was exemplary! The entire crew, from captain to maintenance worker, seemed to always greet us with smiles and we were asked numerous times thru the cruise if there was anything we needed or wanted to make our experience on board any better. The crew exuded a genuinely friendly vibe, and it was very much appreciated. We visited the "ABC" Islands - Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao. All three were beautiful, and it was our first time visiting. Palm Beach on Aruba was beautiful, and we enjoyed walking the beach and swimming in the sea. Of the three islands though, Curacao was our personal favorite. The architecture of the town and the friendliness of the locals was great! The standout feature for us tho, was the pontoon bridge that actually swings open like a door when a boat needs to come thru! Very unique! We did no excursions on any of the islands, so I can't speak to that, although my cousins rented an ATV in Aruba to see the island and a golf cart in Curacao. They enjoyed tooling around the islands that way and got to see much of the natural wonders of each. Our group consisted of adults, no kids, though we ranged in age from late 20's to the 50's to 80's! And once again, even with such a wide spread of ages, we were all able to find fun and enjoyable things to do which made it a fantastic cruise for everybody! I would highly recommend Adventure of the Seas and would not hesitate to sail her again; in fact, I hope someday we can! Read Less

This was a 12 day southern repositioning cruise that I really didn’t have high expectations for because I knew it was a smaller and older ship. But let me tell you Royal Caribbean really makes sure to keep the old looking new. The food was great and the buffet had a different theme of food every night, so there was always food for everyone’s taste. The staff was the best I have encountered on all of my cruises, and the room was very spacious and was extremely comfortable. The shows were okay. That’s probably the biggest complaint I have is the fact that most the shows were just musicals and not really what my family and I enjoyed. Except the hypnosis show which was probably one of the best I've seen on any ship. They had plenty of activities throughout the day and night, and the itinerary was great. Overall, this was one of the best cruises my family and I took and we can’t wait to get on the adventure again! Read Less

Can now cross off the ABC Islands from my bucket list! Embarkation- Our flight landed in San Juan at 10:30AM on Saturday 4/28/18. Took about 1 hour to collect our luggage as we shared the baggage area with another flight that got in about the same time we did. Got to the terminal around 11:45, onboard enjoying Lunch in the WJ by 12 noon. Food - We thought all the venues we used (MDR, WJ, Cafe Promenade, and Room Service) had good, hot, and tasty variations every day -MDR: we had My Time Dinning and the first night got table 176 which is level one in Sapphire right at the bottom of the stairs. Awesome Waiter VJ and assistant Manuel. We were able to reserve this table for every night for the duration of our cruse. Even with their new menus, we always had a good choice of Fish, Chicken, Pasta, Steak, and other meat/Beef options. My favorite dish was their Beef Short Ribs which I've never had before. -WJ: Could always find a seat, food very good and varied everyday. Good waiter/drink service -Cafe Promenade: Never more than a line of 5-7 people deep anytime of day we visited. Pizza ok, really good around 2am (lol). Good tasty sandwich selections, the Greek Salad Pita was awesome! -Room Service: Did it twice, delivered in about 30-35 minutes. Was hot and tasty, also had great Cobb Salad and you get a personal size Pepperoni Pizza that was better than from the Cafe. Voom Surf and Stream - We thought it performed much better than on our HOTS cruise last June, albeit with my Droid (but not with my daughters iPhone) occasionally freezing when coming up from Deck 3 to our stateroom on deck 10. I had to disable/re-enable wi-fi to get it working Stateroom - We had a JS #1340, starboard side, mid-aft on deck 10. New carpet and drapes. 2 chairs, a lounge char, and table on our Balcony. Cabin Steward Nickoli just ok, always saw him on his phone. A couple of times, he took till 1PM to refresh our cabin. Next door stateroom #1342 tried to flush something down the toilet they shouldn't have, and blocked all flushing for about 10 nearby cabins till Maintenance could clear the blockage. A/C worked really well. On our cruise, AOS always docked Port Side with Island views. Shows - They were good. Lyric Thereat was never full, we had Invitation to Dance, Jackpot, Headliner Marcus Terell (semi-finalist on America's Got Talent) and a couple of Comedians. CD Chris Brown was alright,, I think Magic Marvin should take over as CD. Quest and Majority Rules was awesome, Hot Art Ice show was good, though they just brought on new performers and they must have being getting used to the small rink and skating during a day at sea, as there were at least 3 falls and trips. Unlimited Drink Package - Anything over $12, you had to pay the difference. Could always order a Drink and a Bottle of Water together, or order two drinks showing 2 valid DX coded Seas Passes. Plenty of Bar tenders and waiter serving drinks onboard. Islands - Fantastic!!! We did our own exploring and/or renting taxi's for the day, JEEP for the Day in Aruba (run, don't walk from renting from Royal Car Rental in Aruba), and Zip Line from Rain Forest Adventures in St Maarten. Visited the Renaissance Curacao Resort & Casino, Divi Flamingo Beach Resort & Casino in Bonaire, and the awesome Holiday Inn Resort Aruba - Beach Resort & Casino on Palm Beach, with them allowing ys to use their loungers on the beach. Our favorite experiences were renting a taxi for a 3 hour private tour in Curacao that included Hato Caves, Flamingos, and multiple stops for great pictures, finding the new Natural Cave Pool in Aruba, the Zip Line in St Maarten, that had fantastic friendly staff every where on the old Rockland estate property, and then spending some time on the Great Bay Beach and Boardwalk, renting two lounge chairs and umbrella right at the Blue Bitch Bar an Restaurant (great load Cheeseburgers and Rum Punch) Disembarkation - Waited one hour from collecting our luggage to clearing customs. Tip: Get in the line that parallels 'Gold Card' C&A members, they had two agents working who would also check non Gold members vs just one agent check all others. There was also a separate line for porters to help you clear customs. Post Cruise Stay - One night stay @ the Sheraton Old San Juan Hotel. Great location in Old San Juan withing walking distance of a lot of attractions and sites. One the 2nd floor outdoor Dinning area, got to watch AOS sail silently off into the night at 8:30, on her reposition cruise to Cape Liberty, Bayonne NJ, and during breakfast Sunday morning, see the CCL Fascination right in front of us, and the Jewel of the Seas glimmering off in the short distance from the Pan America Pier. Overall, we loved this cruise, the islands, the staff we met, new friends we found onboard, the friendly locals we met, and our ADVENTURE we had in the Southern Caribbean! Read Less

Our First cruise which we mainly selected for the destinations. There's so much room on board and there was no claustrophobic feelings, which I did expect to happen most of the time, but there are so many things to do on board that passengers were spread out all over the ship. Our compact cabin was surprisingly actually quite roomy and arranged in a practical way, and our room attendant was brilliant and provided extra daily delights with the best towel-folding! Soooooo much foooood! Lovely food for all tastes. Themed dinners were really good! Tip: if you can, plan to go to dinner or lunch about an hour after the restaurant opens as it got really busy in the first hour. I know most people want breakfast first thing so they can get off the ship first thing, but for the other meals on my next cruise, I will wait for a bit. There was also a Starbucks and Ben & Jerrys on board! My only area of concern and gripe was the Royal Caribbean trip to the BREATHTAKING SOUFRIERE & WARM MINERAL BATHS. For those of you expecting a warm soak in a natural sulphur and clay pool, this will not be the case. My family was there under 10 years ago and those man made pools were not there, and my daughter has photos of herself in the rocky clay pool!!!! We raised a complaint when we returned to the ship and are actually trying to get this trip refunded for misrepresentation. Royal Caribbean are sticking by the vendor and despite many other tourists also opting out of going into what looked like a sheep dip, with stagnant water in modern angular pools, they are insisting that the French built them a couple hundred years ago!! We suggested that RC go take a look themselves as they may not be aware of what they are promoting. We also said that they really need to include photos so people can make informed decisions about wasting their precious Shore Day watching other people go in and out of a sheep dip for 15 minutes! You have 30 minutes tops to get changed, line up for a shower first, soak in the stagnant water, get changed and meet at the souvenir shop. it was 5 hours there and back, no water was offered to the passengers in that whole time and we did not stop for food and were not advised to bring our own snacks. Long day for little rewards. Not cool ☹️☹️☹️ and as a world traveller, it literally was the worst tour I have ever done. The tour guide knew her stuff though and was very engaging and funny. I have many complaints! 1. In this day in age, there should not be smoking in the Casino. It’s not the people playing, but people just smoking instead of going to the smoking area. In general smoking should not be allowed. 2. I had the premium beverage package and it states that Evian water was included, every time I asked, I was told it wasn’t included. I reported this to the head dining person who told me it was a mistake and he told the bar staff to give it when requested. However, that did not happen. I was made to feel like I was getting away with something when I did get a water. 3. I was very disappointed with our room steward. I was in my husbands room 9318 and we tipped him &100.00 on the first day and expecting better than normal exceptional service. It just wasn’t there. We had bottles of champagne on ice and the buckets were leaking badly and water was everywhere but I had to ask him to keep a dry towel under the buckets. They weren’t kept iced enough. I just felt his heart wasn’t in his job. 4. There needs to be more bar staff...the Solirum Pool Bar and the Pool Bar are extremely way to busy for one or two bar staff. 5. I for one will never do the Mystery Dinner. Why you feel like you need to cram so many guest into the small place is beyond me. The only people that can here are the ones in the center. It was extremely HOT, and we couldn’t hear or see. Thake our 1/2 of the seats and offer it more nights. My husband was so upset that he left, causing me to not have dinner with him. My sister also has a dairy allergy and somehow she got dairy or something was crossed contaminated because she got sick. The chairs were so crammed the our fingers got smashed. During the event the cast were going around to all the tables but no one came to us. We felt like the evel step children. 6. We were at the solarium pool and why have an adult pool if you allow kids in the pool? The lifeguard just watched them get into the pool. Also, the hot tubs shouldn’t be full of kids with their goggles on. Hot Tubs are for relaxing, not swimming. 7. The coke machines need some work, the flavor is not good. Several were always empty and out of ice. You need more of them. 8. I do have a suggestion, have a Bloody Mary Bar. Read Less

Check-in disorganized with limited staff and line for 20 min. (not long but with pouring down rain and no one directing things got messy). RC didn't mention the port construction - inside is being renovated and should be completed at the end of April. Received Seapasses in under 10 minutes. . Our room was not ready until 1:30 - ate lunch in Windjammer. When the room was ready – the toilet was dirty and guest services fixed the problem quickly. Entertainment & Activities - Average - needs variety and improvement. The entertainment crew – below average and need training on basic hospitality (re. treating all guests the same). Food & Drinks - Average. Never used the specialty restaurants – ate every day at the Windjammer or used room service (menu and food presentation needs improvement) Facilities – a number of changes were made - main pool smaller, club on the 3rd floor removed to add Chops Grill and Jacuzzis, water slide and Flowrider, and more cabins added. Less seating around the pools and gets crowded a lot earlier. Overall - not my favorite cruise – Royal Caribbean needs to work on the Wow experience. Read Less

My family and I solely cruise with Royal Caribbean. We always have the best time experience. The staff is always so attentive, friendly, helpful and kind. We meet so many great, new friends at all the bars, lounges and entertainment activities. We loved the laughs at the Adult game shows, poolside challenges and scavenger hunts, the fun times at karaoke as well as the morning zumba classes. The Blue Moon nightclub was always a great way to end the night, the Resident Dj was fabulous and the bartenders were so friendly and wonderful. The food and dining expensive is always so yummy and delicious and great service all over. The wifi was the only the thing we had troubles with. We thoughts it was very expensive per person per day in our family and did not need to be. It was always a terrible connection for when we did have it or when our friends did and never worked well, yet it claims to be the fastest internet at sea. I thank the staff and captain for another amazing get-away! These memories will last a lifetime. Can't wait to book the next cruise! See you soon! Read Less

Food selection was more than enough. The Buffet was also in for the same rating with the variations and choice of foods. Carving stations with a great selection. can't say enough good things about the entire experience. Shows with a full orchestra singing, dancing and Ice shows that rivals any thing you could see in any major city Sports of all types , Basketball rock climbing wall and wave action surfing pool. all types of entertainment. The team in the Windjammer was pleasant and made sure we had what we needed. So attentive! The food was delicious and the portion sizes just right. The shore excursions were fun and well organized. Watching a movie, outside, by the pool-under a clear sky with sparking starts--lovely experience. As someone who's worked in the hospitality business for over 30 years, it was a pleasure being taken care of by such wonderful team members. Everyone I encountered was pleasant and eager to make our experience wonderful. Great job team! I'm sure you'll see me again sometime. Read Less

We enjoyed Puerto Rico both before and after the cruise. The embarkation and disembarkation went well. However, if you have family members who need Wheel chair assistance, be prepared for long waits; one at a time, on and off the ship. The ports were beautiful, especially Aruba. The tours were not really worth it if you primarily wanted to go to the beaches. You can either take a cab or water taxi at reasonable prices and often you saw some of the same sights offered on the tour. The locals were very friendly, helpful, and appreciative. You could also leave and return when you wanted to. This was our first cruise on Royal Caribbean and I was not overly impressed. The best was the outstanding service from the staff and the fitness room. The worst was the quality of the food both in the Dining Room and Windjammer. The overall entertainment was good but it was disappointing that there was not more room designated for dancing. Some bands played in the very busy promenade with no room to dance. I would definitely return but probably try a different cruise line. Read Less

I hope that this experience is not an indication of the standard service that the Royal Caribbean brand will now be providing. Check in was a nightmare. New policies about who can and can't check in are in effect and not communicated. If traveling with a minor in a separate cabin if they do not ajoin and the adult in the room with the minor has not checked in, you have to wait until they do check in before the minor can check in despite traveling. Of course the flight of the adult was delayed but luckily we were able to switch the minor to a different room to at least get her aboard the ship then switched her back after the adult arrived. If we knew having adjoining rooms would have satisfied this then we would have booked those room types or traveled all together. This was the slowest and worst check in I have ever experienced. Waiting for the elevator just to get to the room was totally ridiculous. Cabins...we had cabins were on decks 7 and 8 midship. Outside balconies and interior rooms with a view of the decks below. The rooms were nice and our stateroom attendant Damain was great! And very attentive. Rooms availability upon boarding was a big plus. Not having to wait around in the Windjammer with carry on luggage and backpacks was really nice. Dinner...dispite linking all of our reservations for 8:30 dinner the dining room was totally clueless that our group of 19 wanted to be seated together or even next to each other. And we couldn't be seated until 9pm and didn't get food until almost 10pm. Dinner seating got better in the main dining room as the cruise progressed but by then we found alternatives. Two dinner dining highlights were the Murder Mystery Dinner at Giovanni's Table courtesy of our waiter Mohammed and dinner on day 5 at Chops Grill made amazing by our waiter Igor! But on the last night of the cruise 6 other members of our parry went to Chops and sat for 40 minutes with no service at all. After they walked the host and maitre'd apologized and offered to comp the meal if they came back in but the experience was already ruined and they went to the main dining room at our regular dining time. Windjammer...Breakfast...as to be expected getting a table on sea days was an exercise in patience and restraint but the Adventure of the Seas offered room service which we opted to get on the second sea day to avoid the issues we had on the first all day at sea. The food arrived within the time window but the order form says indicate the amount of food you wish to order. This is where things get lost in translation...we wanted 4 pancakes but what we got was 4 orders of pancakes. We wanted 3 scrambled eggs but what we got was three orders of 2 scrambled eggs. The bacon had the number 3 beside it so we ordered 2 orders expecting 6 bacon strips we got a pile of bacon on each of the three orders of eggs. The order form is definitely needs to be clarified. Excursions...we had 4 originally then one was canceled days before we set sail. No issue because we were refunded the money. BUT when our excursion tickets were delivered we were missing some and others had different times so we had to change all the time to make sure the group stayed together. The excursions we picked overall were fun but the Helmut Dive in Aruba was great but if we had known that this was an activity island after paying for the most expensive activity we would have liked to stay longer to enjoy the entire facility. As it was we left late because we were waiting for 1 person who didn't show up, the ferry wasn't there by the time we arrived or departed so we lost an hour of our onsite excursion time easily which was disappointing. The Amazing Race excursion in St. Maarten was a little hectic. They suggested that we have 10 to 12 people on each team which did not work well. Our team consisted of people who did the excursion before with teams of four people and they preferred that experience over this one. However after that we relaxed on the beach and went jet skiing which was great. Kids Club/Teen Club We had an 11 year old (her fourth cruise) and 12 year old (first time cruiser) with us and usually Kids Club is the highlight of the cruise. But not this year. Everytime they went to the Teen Club for an activity that was on the schedule there was no one in the area. The girls were so disappointed that they gave up going to the club. Guest Services...I was on a line either at Guest Services or Shore Excursions 4 times the first day. After that, I was at Guest Services at least twice a day every day for the entire cruise. Pools...small and jammed packed. If you didn't get a spot by 9am then your weren't going to get a spot until 5pm when the 6pm diners left to get ready for dinner. Bars....service at all the bars was meh! Most of us had the ultimate beverage package but the drink of the day was NOT included ...um so the all included package was not really ALL inclusive. We were also disappointed that there was no "happy hour" like we experienced on the Anthem. Entertainment..if there was something interesting and actually occurring for the teens durning the time the "adult only" activities was going on then maybe the adult activities wouldn't have had so many kids in the audience or as participants. The Blue Moon Bar/night club was fun but the 80's party was more like a 80's, 90's and 2000's party. And the music was defininately repeated on other nights despite the theme so it was kind of one note. The silent party was interesting and fun but that was one hour at night twice during the sailing. Where were the shows or comedians for the late dining crowd? It felt like there were limited options once the 8:30pm dinner session was over. 10pm no shows or entertainment only a deejay or live band in the middle of a set. On the last night durnign the farewell show they was a comedian who did an adult show later on that evening but one show on the last night of the cruise was too little too late. The cupcake decoration class was cute but not well advertised. We stumbled across it. In general the onboard activities seem to be scarce. There were two formal nights, an 80's party and white party which if we would have known about prior to getting on board we would have packed clothes to attend the events. Overall this year's family trip with 20 of us was fun and we enjoyed ourselves but this experience with Royal Caribbean was far below our expectations for the brand. We wanted to do the southern Caribbean especially the island of Bonaire. Boarding was fast however the photos uploaded did not load to their system. Also we were unable to sign the waivers online like previously. Very annoying. The room was normal and nothing special. The dining room menu had many items repeating night to night. Shrimp cocktail and no sugar added apple pie and several other items recurred nightly. The food temperature was also slightly above warm. The Windjammer had a huge selection and the same items appeared everymorning. Always a strawberry smoothie no other flavors, same granola with apple and yogurt. No variation. Did not offer Tomato juice had to ask for it. Then at the pool bar is limited for alcoholic drinks. They no longer use island Oasis drink mix but rather use cream and ice and flavoring from another company. They have a limited menu and would appreciate a large list of frozen drinks / island drinks. The drink of the day is also on the weak side. Entertainment was ok. Casino was smokey. It was decent but nothing at all exceptional. Read Less

We looked at various cruises but liked this one because of the itinerary. We had a great cruise and perfect weather. We enjoyed the food in the dining room, our waiter, Luis took care of us and was very attentive. We felt the nightly entertainment was lacking. We went to the shows but more times then not, they did not hold our interest. We were looking for more music options in the evenings after dinner. My son was also disappointed with the teen club, he did eventually meet up with some kids but did not participate as he normally does on cruises. We were also not thrilled with the new location of the cruise port for Royal Caribbean out of Puerto Rico. My husband wanted to walk around Old El San Juan prior to departure but we would have needed to take a taxi to the area and it was more work than it should have been. We found ideas for the shore excursions through the roll call that we followed prior to our departure. Went to the Cruise Critic meet and greet and met another couple from Long Island who gave us some touring ideas on the various islands and with whom we shared a taxi back to the ship from one of the beaches we visited. My 3 sisters and I took a “sister’s cruise” because we all work hard and deserved it! It was the first time we have all taken a trip together since family vacations as kids. What a blast! I wished we had more time on some of the islands, but that seems to be a common gripe of many cruisers who just have a hard time dragging themselves off a tropical island. We felt rushed at times. Regarding excursions: we did a few. The Race excursion on St. Maarten was a waste of time and money. Don’t do it! It was rather disorganized and some of the clues weren’t current. You’d be better off spending your brief time on St. Maarten enjoying the beaches, shopping and exploring the town and other parts of the island, as time allows. On the other hand, the UTV excursion on Aruba was worth every penny. We laughed our heads off and it met our need for speed! Our guide, Mark, was great and we took in lots of beautiful scenery and got lots of pics that day. Snorkeling on Bonaire (Coco beach) was AMAZING. The cave tour was just “okay”. Nothing spectacular. On the cruise ship, my only complaints (and none of them are really that big of a deal) would be 1. My cabin complaint which is detailed below. 2. The pop machines are SCARCE and were often out of ice or being repaired, and the pop from the bars didn’t taste right. 3. The entertainment got a bit raunchy for me at times. Guess I was a little naive. Will know better next time, though some of the entertainment was quite good. 4. We never actually met our cabin steward. Guess I just thought we’d have at least some interaction. Overall, I was quite pleased with the cruise and would do it again. The staff was very friendly and helpful and it’s refreshing to see a group of people who at least appear to genuinely enjoy their jobs. Our servers in the Sapphire dining room, Raj and Kaixin, were fabulous and made sure we were satisfied with our meals. The food there was delicious. The other cruisers were pleasant and it was great to see such a variety of people (college age, families, senior citizens, etc) all finding enjoyment on the ship and islands and just having a great time. I’d take another cruise thru RCI. Read Less

This was the first cruise I went on with my daughter. Now all she speaks about is this cruise and asking when can we go again. When we checked in at the port it was quick and easy. The service provided by the crew was excellent. The cabin was smelling fresh and attendant cleaned it multiple times a day. It was just a beautiful and fun-filled activity cruise. My daughter enjoyed all the kids' activity that was provided on the ship. The main dining room staff were excellent and the service was great. All our serving attendants from stateroom attendant to dining room and bar staff were so pleasant and knew our names immediately and remembered them. When they saw us arriving they would be willing and ready to serve us. My daughter loved the pool, she stayed in it almost all of the day when we were at sea. I will definitely be cruising again soon with Royal Caribbean. Read Less

Initially recommended by to me by a friend, they made us aware of Royal Caribbean and the great selection of cruises available. The overall cruise experience superseded my expectations. The destinations were a great selection of Caribbean islands to visit. The onboard entertainment and organised events like the ice skating shows and musicals were fantastically organised and choreographed, the food (both buffet and a la carte) were excellent standard and the service was truly second to none. We found the ship to be incredibly clean. Our cabin was tidied and cleaned twice daily. The facilities were clean. The staff across the ship went over and above expected levels to make our cruise experience a special experience. The staff also made a big effort with our children and made their experience a special one also. It was a truly wonderful week made better by the service levels given to all guests on board. Overall this trip may have been my favorite cruise on Royal Caribbean. One thing I really liked is that we went down to San Juan a day before our ship left to get a full day 1 of our cruise. We stayed at the Hampton Inn and had good service. The next morning at 11:00 we left our hotel and got an Uber. You can not get on the ship before 12:00. Because we are Emerald members we got to skip the big embarkation line. The ship had been recently updated with a FloRider and waterslides. The fun waterslides had a clear plastic part so you could see over the ocean. Everything was very clean and updated to a modern level. We had better entertainment on Oasis and Allure, but the comedians were very good. As always, the food was spectacular and came in great portions. On my 4 cruises with Royal Caribbean, I have never seen a unhappy crew member. They are all so nice! I would never go to a different cruise line. But I would gladly go again! Read Less

From the boarding process through baggage handling and the first hours of our trip we were extremely surprised and satisfied. It only got better from the food to the family environment to safety and security. Did I mention the food quality and delight? Off the hook!! Highly recommend the Royal Caribbean lines for anyone’s cruising experience. Cleanliness is the word on the conditions maintained. The concern and coaching for sanitary conditions I am certain contribute to the maintenance of health on board for cruisers and staff alike. Well done! We were also impressed with the variety of activities, the entertainment in and around the immediate pool areas and the supportive and smiling staff. I remain hard pressed to imagine anything negative about our first trip and look forward to our next opportunity to join some 4500 best friends we have yet to meet! Royal Caribbean has set the bar high for all future cruising considerations! Read Less

I think that the Adventure of the Sea is beautiful cruise and the employees were super kind and attentive my cabin was always kept super clean, we love the way we were treated specially at the Dining great service thanks to Rosalino, Dianah and the rest of the crew. The entertainment and activities were super fun I think there was a little bit for everyone. I was amazed on how fast and easy we embaked and diembarked the service in general was an A+. My only regret is that Royal Caribbean was mostly an all inclusive type of cruise were only few things were to be paid seprately like pictures package, liquor, island excursions.... I disagree there were that enough water station or having to pay for drinking water and the internet should be free. It was really had to get anything to drink unless you buy your drinking package with I found to be too expensive. Read Less

We have several previous cruises on RCC as well as all the other competitors. Our very first cruise was with RCC and we had an amazing vacation. Regretfully, every sailing on RCC since has been a huge disappointment. The March 24, 2018 Caribbean from San Juan was no exception. First, I must credit our stateroom attendant and wait staff as they were wonderful and a pleasure to have serving us. They were a lot of fun and they would go out of their way to assure we had a great experience. However, aside from the individuals assigned to my family of 6 (3 state rooms), the lack of customer service was evident on many levels. Our issues started when we booked this trip. RCC canceled a previous cruise 24 hours before the scheduled sailing because of a hurricane. While most would reasonably understand the need to cancel for a hurricane, RCC delayed their decision until the last possible minute when Disney, NCL and Carnival canceled their departures 3 days prior. This had forced us to travel into an area expecting a category 4 hurricane, taking away needed hotel rooms and other resources for those living in Florida. RCC would not, even with travel insurance refund the cost of the cruise should we choose not to sail. Rather, the only way to get a refund is of they canceled the voyage. Therefore, not wanting to risk several thousand dollars, we rolled the dice and ended up sitting in a hotel room for 4 days as RCC first delayed the 4-day voyage by one day before canceling all together less than 24 hours before the original sail time. To compensate for the "inconveniences" RCC issued $100 stateroom credits for an upcoming sailing. A rather paltry gesture considering our losses in hotel rooms and airline change fees. Getting the credits applied is another headache which judging by other reviews, has become rather common practice with RCC. Before making the booking, I phoned RCC to verify the credits. I was told the $100.00 stateroom credit would apply to "all guests" in my party. Since there would be 6 of us in three staterooms I explained this and the agent verified all would receive the credit. I called a second time and was given the exact same information so I booked the cruise which was just under $5,000 In order to have the credit applied, I needed to call another department along with the reservation number. This is when the problems began. RCC suddenly changed their position and not would only apply a credit to my wife and I. Since I recorded both my discussions, I know the agents whom I spoke along with the date and time called making it very easy for RCC to listen for themselves what was promised. However, RCC refused nor did they have any intention in honoring this. Back on Adventure of the Seas. The food was inconsistent from day-to-day. One night it would be prepared well and the next evening it would not. We are not very picky and did not feel the need to send anything back. My only point is the quality of food seemingly decreases each time we sail. Windjammer is a typical buffet. We typically love to eat in the restaurant for breakfast as compared to the buffet but after the second day, we could not be bothered. The woman who would ask how many was in your party was nasty, unpleasant and if your entire party was not together, would refuse to seat you. One morning our daughter was in the rest room just outside the restaurant and we were refused seating until she presented herself. Long waits to get the food and it appeared RCC cut back on staffing for breakfast. Since this is never the fault of the servers, we certainly would not complain to them. This is a leadership issue. Probably the most frustrating component to the entire vacation was disembarkation. As stated earlier, there were 6 people on our reservation in 3 cabins. However, we were given 3 different times to disembark. 7:45am, 8:15am and 9:15 am. At 7:45 am we were told the entire party would have to wait until 9:15 am. Since I had arranged for car service to drive us around Puerto Rico for the day, we scrambled to contact the driver who patiently waited 1.5 hours until we got off. A Porter grabbed our bags and assisted through Customs. It was not until we were loading luggage into the car I realized my Travel Pro suitcase had an 18" rip down the side of the bag. Not the condition I left it the evening prior outside our cabin. I immediately called RCC from the car and after explaining the details, I was told without me returning to the cruise terminal and completing a damage report there was little they could do. So I asked "After spending $5,000 on the cruise and another $2,400 onboard expenses, you are going to tell me that after damaging my bag there is nothing you can do?" "All this over a $350.00 bag?" The agent walked his position back a little and said to take pictures and get a replacement cost so he could "go to bat" for me. Upon getting home, I found the exact same bag on sale at Macy's for $258.00. I sent in all requested images and pricing. The response I received was "Well, I cannot give you the $258.00 so please what you believe is fair." My response was "What is fair is you replace what you damaged. What is even more fair is I found the same bag almost $100.00 off on sale. But in the interest of putting this matter to rest, I would accept $200.00. Two weeks and three e-mails later, I finally received the credit to my account along with a message of how RCC was doing me a favor without the damage report. I would not recommend RCC. In fact, our favorite cruises have always been on Disney. You cannot beat their customer service and when you need anything or anything resolved, the level of service you receive cannot be compared to RCC. In fact, we have placed Carnival well ahead of RCC as well as NCL. Read Less

In overall opinion the cruise is good but the food menu is poor. The meats selection is not good for my opinion. I was confuse because I did not known if the salads and pasta were the principal plate and the meats the complements. Too much foods with differents ingredients and strong tastes. I think that the foots must be provide by contries and choosing the must allusive of every region or country. For example Mexico the burritos and nachos, US the hamburger and chicken wings, PR the rice and beans, and so on. When I purchased the tickets for the cruise nobody tell us how was the package for shore excurtions, the packages of drinks. I believe that this packages should be explains with more details. Because in my case, if I had the general opinion of how these packages are. I would have bought before. Because the islands that we visit, does not have much to see by yourself. Read Less

This was our first cruise. We didn't know what to expect. We are HOOKED! The ability to see six different islands and only unpack once is great. With about 3,000 people on the ship, we thought it would be crowded. It never felt that way! The efficiency of the ship design, from the staterooms to dining to events, is top shelf. Pro Tips: get a balcony. It makes all the difference! Being able to see the ocean, watch as the ship enters/exits ports, and if someone in your room is up early/late, the balcony is a nice haven. You don't need the full beverage package unless you drink a lot = more than three alcohol drinks per day. The cafe on the Promenade deck is a key eat/coffee spot for early/late snacks. Use it! One Con: we didn't take time to do 1/2 of the events available! A few extra days at sea may have helped us. A two week cruise next time? Hmmm.... Read Less

The Champagne bar staff were so pleasant and knew our names immediately and remembered them. When they saw us arriving they would already have our drink served for us. The pools were small and cold but that is not unusual and once you were in and wet it didn't feel cold but instead very refreshing from the hot sun. All in all I would recommend this ship to anyone as the only thing we found not worth the money was the galley tour and only because they took too many through at once and you could not hear what was being said. Will definitely consider this ship when booking our next cruise! Read Less

The itinerary is port heavy but that is expected with a Southern Caribbean cruise. The islands are beautiful and well worth a visit or two, maybe three! The ship itself is an ideal size for my family, two adults, two teens. With the slides, flow rider, sports centre, shows, ice rink and a few other things, there is plenty to keep the teens busy. I would have liked to see some more organization from the teen club staff. I know teens are not always on board with participating but if the staff showed more interest, the teens might too. My two have always spent a large majority of the cruise while on ship in the kids/teens club or participating with the groups wherever they are. This cruise they barely went. A couple times they did, the event was not what was listed on the cruise compass. As for the adults, our two moans were the variety of food on the MDR menu. Please change up the appetizers every evening. The other was the trivia. We usually go to the trivia games as we participate and they are good for a laugh. Every trivia on the cruise was in the Schooner Bar and it was beyond packed. Not nearly enough seating and some of the seats are along a wall out of view from the rest of the crowd. Why not hold it in a larger venue? The headliner, Jeff Tracta was hilarious and El Gaucho was also enjoyed by all of us. Read Less
