I have always wanted to visit Tasmania and this cruise was advertised at a reasonable rate in the Sunday Mail. As this is the final voyage from Australia of the Astor I was not expecting much. We were surprised pleasantly by the cabin size and ample storage. The water pressure and hot water availability was faultless. The waste system operated faultlessly unlike other cruises we have completed. The food was incredible. The bar staff were knowledgeable and hospitable. A special mention for the entertainment staff and in particular the extremely hard working dancers. The shows kept getting better. The Captain was a true gentleman and exceptional host. Housekeeping and general cleanliness was to a very high standard. The spa was a pleasure to visit. The sauna and co located internal swimming pool were immaculately clean and attended by staff. I wasn’t expecting much from an aged ship on a relatively minor shipping line but I was constantly surprised and delighted from start to finish. Thank you CMV. Read Less

We chose this cruise based on several friends were also attending. I get severe sea sickness and always avoided cruises. When we arrived at the port, I was overcome with the size of the ship, and how I would be with another 3000 people. The staff assisting us at embarkation were friendly, knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. The ship was impressive, so many different areas to meet friends or take some time to yourself. I never felt there were too many people, the ship has an amazing capacity to allow one to find their space to do what ever suits their mood. I met new friends, ate good food, was pampered in the Lotus spa, danced the night away in several bars and had a smile form day 1. Needless to say I wasn't sick. This ship had a little rough weather and I was fine. I'm looking forward our next cruise. Read Less

I was worried about going on the Pacific Eden after reading some bad reviews, but I loved it. Our cabin was large comfortable and very clean. The ships decor was lovely and very stylish. Loved the entertainment and the food was good. We ate in the pantry , waterfront restaurant and Angelo's Italian restaurant and never had anything that we didn't like. We had breakfast in our room one morning and it was delivered on time and hot, so no complaints. Overall we had a wonderful time and came away feeling happy and relaxed. Even though it was only 3 nights we did a lot and it felt like we had had a proper holiday away. love that the cruise left from Adelaide. That's where we live so no flights and hotels to worry about. Will definatly think of sailing on the Pacific Eden again. Read Less

The ship was wonderful. great layout and cabins are large. Crew could not have been more wonderful and helpful. Shore excursions are always very well organized and very informative. Food was exceptional. We will never go back to the larger cruise ships again This was our 2nd Viking River Cruise.. Stayed 3 nights in Nice prior to the cruise. Hotel was a great location rooms were nice and hotel staff was very helpful. We had picked this ship because of the itinerary and it was one of the new Viking fleet. The buffet selections at both breakfast and dinner were exceptional as always. wait staff was always available when needed and checked on everyone continually. The chef could not have been more friendly and was always out and about speaking with passengers. Our cabin was always kept clean and we were always given several bottles of water each day in our fridge. Local entertainment at some ports was brought on board for the passengers both during the day and in the evening. Each of our ports of call were different and where most cruise lines want you to shop on your shore excursions Viking focuses more on the history and culture of each port but of course there was always some free time for shopping. We will choose Viking for our next cruise vacation sometime in the near future. Again what a wonderful experience this company gives each passenger from the time of your initial booking to days following your return with a phone call asking how your experience was. Read Less
