We chose the cruise to visit the Xmas markets. On boarding the boat we were informed of a complete itinerary change due to low water levels, however they obviously put no effort into choosing an alternative itinerary as it was a vastly inferior itinerary with most places closed in 2 of the 3 stops we went to and the markets a far cry from the ones we were supposed to visit (except ...
Our family decided to take a Christmas Market cruise but wanted to spend time in London. We selected ARosa because of their selection of 4-day itineraries and their moderate pricing . We had no doubts about the ports of call but were somewhat concerned about the communication and food offerings on a german-based cruise line.
Once on-board what we found was a beautiful, spotless boat, an ...
We chose it as we wanted to revisit an area of France we knew well from at least 25 years of camping among the vineyards of southern France.
We arrived in Lyon on excellent Eurostar direct from St Pancras.
We were met and whisked swiftly through the lovely city of Lyon to the pretty riverside, to embark on A-ROSA Stella, emblazoned with ( rather naff looking ) red lips!
We were swiftly ...
The southern Rhine Christmas market theme cruise.
Taking in Mannheim , Heidelberg, Strasbourg and Mainz.
The excursions where add ons and needed to be booked as in most cases except for Strasbourg your where moored to far away and all on the German side of the river.
The excursion was not a guided one as all it was , was a transfer to a market with set time of collection. No guide no ...
We selected this cruise because the date was right. We selected this cruise, as well, based upon our tourism company´s recommendation.
It was a relaxing and quite nice cruise up the Rhine. Included some cities we had visited by car as well as other locations we had not been to.
The room service was quite wonderful. The fellow who had been assigned to our section of rooms spoke far better ...
Unfortunately we booked the trip not knowing tha we were 16 ofuk couples the rest bein German, not a problem, but we felt quite isolated, all of the ships announcements were in German, followed by occasionaly with a short comment in English .The food was terrible nearly always warm or cold and very difficult to guess what it was,as most of the time it wasn’t described or labelled,The crew were rude ...
Having been on 3 other river cruises, we found one that went down the Rhone, which we had not gone on before. The Rosa Stella is about 12 years old, but extremely well kept and very clean. In fact it is the cleanest cruise ship we've ever been on. Our cabin was a decent size - not large but well appointed and the beds were comfortable. We had a French balcony, meaning you could open the doors ...
Went on the cruise because it fit our timeframe and part of group had free cruise because last years cruise couldn't move because of high water and they were given another cruise for free.
Only two groups of Americans on the cruise 11 people--they are not prepared for English speakers very well at all. We had to ask for all news and daily stops and maps in English. They were not automatically ...
The pre cruise 3 day stay in Prague, together with Vienna and Budapest were the high points of this, our second river cruise. The views from our Juliette cabin window were magnificent and come highly recommended. The weather was typically very hot but the air conditioning kept us all cool until one evening it broke down for a few hours. Generally however, the facilities onboard were maintained to a ...
I'm not sure why A-rosa is bunked for Americans...in fact, I wondered why more English speaking cruisers weren't on board. The staff all spoke English as well as German (most of the crew were Eastern European) and the service was excellent. We appreciated the spotless ship; the accommodating service from all the staff (constant attention to detail...fabulous hard working and conscientious). ...
