When I laid down on the extremely hard bed the first night, I had to ask the steward how we could make it any softer. Needless to say, that was the start of a horrible cruise. Once the steward did what he could (which was add a blanket under the sheet), I laid down and realized that I was being attacked by bugs. These weren't bed bugs (thank goodness), but, they were sand fleas. Then the air conditioning died and it took a maintenance guy awhile to fix that. Lastly, we had children running up and down the halls at 3am banging on doors, screaming, flipping signs, etc. When we mentioned this to customer service, we were told that the boat was completely sold out, so they couldn't change our room and that there is over 3000 people on the ship...this This means that they can't stop the kids from doing this. Mind you, the kids did this every single night of the cruise. There was trash on the ship everywhere. I will say that the ports were amazing, but I could have flown or taken another ship. I am done with Carnival. (Btw, I have called Carnival since arriving home and was told that if I was looking for money, it wasn't going to happen, and security can't be everywhere on the ship. The advice from the representative was that I should have complained more on the ship and they would have found a way to stop the kids. I am just disappointed with Carnival and won't cruise with them ever again. Read Less

Please do not believe Disney's advertising, these are not cruises for adults without children. My wife and I have taken over 50 cruises of 7 days and longer over the last 35 years and have enjoyed cruising over much of the world. This is the first time I told my wife and daughter I would have rather burned a bag of money than had to endure the Disney Cruise Experience. Had the pleasure of having a child angry at her sister dump a soft drink on me at dinner, watch 5 small children run around and around and around the table in the lounge where I was having a drink while their parents stood close by drinking their wine and ignoring their children's behavior. Dodged small children fighting in the floor in the dining room and on and on and on. On our sailing, according to one of the children's program staff it was a light week with ONLY 1500 children between three and twelve. Prior to our cruise we received a letter from DCL detailing the dress requirements for the Dining Rooms, packed accordingly only to hear head waiter tell passenger the first night not to worry about dress rules, on the Fantasy there are no rules, and he was telling the truth, no rules in "adult only" areas, no rules in the dining rooms, no rules at all. First cruise I have ever taken where I can't think of anything to say I enjoyed other than disembarkation. Star Wars was the draw for us to try this cruise and it was an insult to any thinking fan, it was just another way for DCL to try and sell photos and merchandise, nothing for the real fans to enjoy. This was our first cruise and we were very excited to finally go on one. We embarked and thats where the excitement ended. We were charged a daily service charge, but never received any service. It was very disappointing to sit at the Raffles restaurant and never get any acknowledgement from any of the staff. I had to walk outside and stand in the bar line just to get a Pepsi that i am paying for with the drink package. The ship only has one pool for adults, and is crammed all the time. When we arrived in Ocho Rios, we were docked at what looked like some type of commercial abandoned mill. we had to pay 20 bucks just to get onto a shuttle to go to town which was 2 miles away. there was another NCL ship at the main dock, but they didnt have to pay any shuttle charges do to the fact they could just walk into town. No discounts, no refunds, no service! The guest service desk employees had no personality, and didnt smile and greet anyone. It seemed to me that if you had an issue, you were bugging them. We are very disappointed in our cruise experience. Food quality, service, smell of sewer, lack of customer service, and they way you are treated are the reasons we will not book on NCL again. Don't know where to even begin, let me start by saying this was my second time on the Spirit. Our first experience was excellent, we had no reservations about going again and were excited to experience it for a second time. Boy were we in for a big surprise! It all started when we had to report on deck after boarding for the muster, I seriously can't count on both hands how many times they shuffled us and the couple with us around the deck! It was extremely unorganized and multiple people kept telling us to move here then someone would come along and push us back to another side then another person will come and put us back where the last person just moved us from and so on and so forth it became a huge joke amongst everybody that was in the group watching what was going on. I think most of us passengers knew more what was going on than the crew at that point. After the drill we headed directly to the bar on deck behind raffles. We were the first to arrive and sit at the bar and still could not get bar service! The bartenders looked very frazzled before people even started showing up, it took forever to get a drink even when I was sitting in the middle of the bar and told both bartenders several times I needed a drink when they were done and they just kept running circles around each other. There was no personal interaction with either bartender and as many times as I tried to get their attention so they knew I needed a drink, other people were having to order for me because I couldn't get waited on. The first thing I do when I get on ship is look for my own bartenders someone who will take care of me and will have fun on the job. Aside from pre paying my gratuities I had a $50 bill in my pocket waiting to find the right bartender and neither was worthy of even a dollar! It never did get any better over the course of the week, I can't believe there was not even any poolside bar service I have never seen anything like it in my life. The food was absolutely horrible, no matter what area, what time or what day we went. Based on our last experience on the Spirit, we were looking very forward to the fabulous food and service that came with it, what a huge disappointment. The buffet did not have the best of selections like last time, the food was cold, forget about getting cooked to order eggs in the morning unless you wanted to wait 40 minutes. We are not picky eaters either and we felt we couldn't even get a decent meal in the main dining areas. We did have good service one evening in the Garden and that was it, the rest was mediocre at best and one night in the Garden we got the worst food and worst service we've ever received in our lives! The server was borderline rude and very disinterested in being there and taking care of us. She was more concerned with what was going on around her and the rest of the dining room, which resulted in her not even taking our drink orders until we asked, after our food came in which every single order she had screwed up because she wasn't paying attention, then screwed up our drink order and then never came back again. Staff in general amongst the ship didn't seem to know much about what was going on nor have an understanding for anything you ask them. The tendering was absolutely horrible and very disorganized. My husband went to go get a ticket poolside at 6:30 a.m. to get off the ship. We did not have an excursion planned and when he got there the guy told him he was the first one to receive a ticket to get off the ship. However when it came time to tender to the island, it took almost 3 hours. We lost almost half of our time on the island because nobody knew what they were doing while trying to get us off the ship. Forget trying to get a good cup of coffee anywhere on the ship it was like mud from the buffet to the main restaurants to the Blue Lagoon. The cabin coffee was the best bet and was still just ok, however it was an inconvenience to get your dessert to go and have to go back to the room to make your own coffee. One night we went back and had no water when trying to fill our coffee pot. I called the front desk to let them know there was no running water in our room and she told me that there was an emergency and they had to shut the water off and hopefully they would have it fixed soon. Hearing there was an emergency when I'm in the middle of the ocean is not what I wanted to hear she could have said there was a plumbing issue or something... Not tell me there was an emergency! When we finally got running water again about an hour later, nasty, smelly black sludge kept filling our toilet. I think about every public bathroom throughout the ship that I went into had out of order signs and them and as the week progressed more and more restrooms were out of order! We went to the pool party at night and no one was there except a handful of staff and a couple of passengers. We were excited to party the night away and forget about the first half of the week and even that was a dud. We lost and went to the galaxy, and had a drink or two and thought when we went back to the pool it should be hopping by then... what a joke when we went back out a little later no one was there. Unlike our last booking on this ship, the bars were closed around the pool and there was no food being served, it is no wonder how do you have a pool party with no food or drink? The white hot party was a bust due to the weather they have since moved it out on the pool deck instead of inside the galaxy of stars. Why they moved it outside is beyond me they sell a crap load of t-shirts get their money and then have nothing going on due to inclement weather. All they want is money money money and give nothing in return. Very disappointed to see that they are now charging for room service also. We waited all week in anticipation for the big midnight chocolate buffet, that never happened! The only positive thing I have to say about the cruise was our room stewardess, she was very sweet and attentive and always had our room tended too, restocked, freshened up and a fresh towel animal waiting on our bed for us every evening. I was happy to give her everyone else's tips! :-) So disappointed in this ship on so many levels, I could go on and on but I wont. It really does not take much to satisfy or make us happy but I feel after all the money that was spent on this cruise, it was a huge disappointment and you couldn't pay me enough to go on it again! Everyone we talked to on the ship seemed to feel the same, way to go NCL! We set extra aside to put a deposit down on our next cruise while on board, you know that didn't happen!!! I know other cruise lines that would be more than happy to take our money and give us a great vacation. Please, if you choose to sail Norwegian do not go on the Spirit! Read Less

WE chose this particular cruise because of our great experience on 4 other carnival cruises and it went to new ports for us. The ship was not as well maintained as we expected, the food was not as good and wait staff was very disappointing to the point I spoke to a matre`d for the only time in 12 cruises. first night at diner the waiter introduced himself and disappeared, the rest of the diner was handled by the 3rd in line. we didn't get drinks and never offered desert - waiting over an hour for the meal. - the nights after that only were marginally better after speaking to the matre`d as the waiter was then overly sweet but still not great at taking care of our table. wishing we would have requested to move sections looking back. the ship had gone thru a major refit and I could not see where any improvements were made (must have been in suites or other areas not visited) the ship is not easy to get around, if you leave the comedy club (which we loved on the 2 splendor cruises) you had to go up decks to go around the club to get to the same deck on the ship. This is the only bad experience we have had with Carnival and are gold members - and have vowed never to go on the sunshine again. This review is a year later and I am still disappointed haven taken 3 more cruises now on other lines. I am sure we will travel at some point with Carnival again when the disappointment from this one wears off a little. We have taken several cruises from new york as it is closest but will not be using the port until the Sunshine is moved somewhere else Read Less

As a first cruise we thought we were in a good time. Man we were mistaken. We booked this several months in advanced. We made sure to follow all the rules and regulations as i fly a ton and didnt want any issues. The confiscated the water we were told we could bring on-board. Then come to find out during the cruise others were allowed to keep their water either for religious reasons or simply they were told they couldn't speak english. Oh and never returned the water as they stated they would. Once on the boat we were informed that we were downgraded to a junior suite due to a maintenance issue and wouldn't get any of the suite features in the junior room. While the junior was larger it still wasn't anything like what we paid for and were confirmed to get. still nothing back from royal on a refund. Service - what a joke. Except for our dinner server and his assistant everything was horrible! We were told by many travelers that there was a specific dress code for 99% of the ship areas. This is to include dinner time. Wrong not of this ship/cruise. We had people in bathing suits, cover ups, underwear and even a guy wearing a dog suit costume at dinner ever night including formal night. When we complained we were told that its spring break and they can only do so much. We had to purchase the minimal beverage package due to the water bottle issue above. 3 of 5 nights we were unable to get any water. We complained every day and were told they would look into it. But nothing done. The internet package was horrible as well. We were only able to use it due to it being down almost the entire time. The food choices other than the two locations were quite lacking. It appears that there were a lot on the rccl website but not once we got on the ship. According to the crew its getting a lot of new dinning options in dry dock. The entertainment was ok. The problem here is they would put the most popular entertainment items in the smallest rooms and it was so packed that we couldnt attend. Then the music/juggling acts were in the big rooms but only a handful of people were there. Something good, was we were able to visit two beautiful beach towns in cozumel and nassau. The excursions were avoided except for joining the ships shopping guide for some shopping. Caveat 1 ---- this was the last cruise for a 15 year old ship prior to dry dock. Caveat 2 ---- royal caribbean went out to colleges to offer this cruise at a huge discount. (according to the desk 2/3 of the ship was from a college) In summary, i hope that royal caribbean cruises are better than this. The ship is old, it was spring break and the staff was under staffed. This was my first Royal Caribbean cruise. I had cruise on Carnival twice before. I have to say I prefer carnival much more. Not sure if it was a misunderstanding but instead of 3 beds I had a full king bed and the couch. The couch was the most uncomfortable to sleep on when pulled out and not long enough will not hold out. I am a late riser and there is nothing for breakfast if you miss the morning breakfast. And when you get to the Windjammer it is not organized very well instead of there being the same exact thing on both sides if you only go to one you'll miss out on other things on the other side. Unfortunately for me the first day I got sick from eating at the Windjammer needless to say I never ate there again. the dining room lunch was not much better it was okay but not the excellence I was expecting. The salad was great but how can you mess up a salad? As for the dining room it was hit or miss. Some nights the food was awesome like the night they had the duck and then sometimes it was just ok. However my service was awesome and Leo and Anna were amazing. I even tried the specialty restaurant Portofino which was good but not excellent. Not enough choices. The food was not as high quality as I expected it was no umami being experienced. The staff was not as friendly they only spoke when spoken to with a few notable exceptions. There are not as many things to do on board if you are a afternoon riser. The promenade the whole point of that is to get you to spend a lot of money on unnecessary items. Bolero Bar is my favorite bar, joseph, marcia and dianne were the best part of the trip. A lot a fun to be had with these three making the best drinks having a live band and just being a relaxing place to have fun. It suck live in Cozumel as that was the only location that I had an excursion. I understand the need to take care of a passenger however if the boat was running at full capacity would have been able to make up the time and still hit the location. It is sad that Royal Caribbean did not do anything did not offer anything for shortening all of our port locations. And their customer service is lackluster at best. It was a train wreck getting off the boat. We are finished with breakfast by 9 a.m. We didn't get off the boat until 1045. They definitely need some help with getting people off of the boat and getting through customs. There for some amazing people on board, we met people from Australia that we will keep in touch with and Winter Haven in Palm Springs. We still made our own fun on board but I will never take another Royal Caribbean cruise. Read Less

Let me first start by saying for the past 8 years I have done a cruise a year and our only experience with Carnival prior to the Sunshine was on the Legend in Feb of 2013. We booked a cruise on the Sunshine for September 13th 2015 leaving from Orlando. We chose the Sunshine for this special cruise since it was my 30th birthday on September 11 and I proposed to my fiancé on my birthday. We arrived at the Orlando airport the day of the cruise. We purchased the bus pass round trip through Carnival online. When you get to the airport you will need to check in at the Carnival desk located downstairs of the airport before they will let you on the bus. There were no signs or anything. Just ask someone who works there on the bottom floor and you should be good. Bus run about every 45 min. We loaded the bus and the driver loaded our luggage. After a 45 minute ride you arrive at the ship. The driver takes care of your bags and you go through the cruise terminal to check in and receive your sail & sign card. Everything went very smooth getting on the ship. We got on board and went directly to our room. It was about 14:30 when we arrived at our room. The room was clean and set up for us already. My fiancé surprised me with having the room decorated for my birthday and having beer waiting in the room for me. Here was my first disappointment. The beer was in a clear plastic bag on the counter in the room. There were 4 beers in total. The beers were warm and I would have figured they would of had the beer on ice and a glass to drink them in. We then tried to find the room steward to request a bucket of ice for the beer so I could have them later that night. No luck could not find the room steward. We were located on deck 8 towards the back of the ship in a upgraded balcony. We decided to go to the spa and take a tour since she wanted to be pampered to start the cruise. We went to the Spa and Gym which looked very nice and clean. All the staff in the Spa were very nice and helpful (we later found out that the Spa employees do not work for Carnival but for another company that Carnival hires) Completed the tour and she booked treatments for that night. We then went to the lido deck and grabbed a slice of pizza and a deli sandwich. Pizza was so-so but I enjoyed the deli and ended up eating there frequently. Walked on the lido deck and higher until we were leaving port. As she was in the spa I decided to grab a beer and explore the ship and try to have it figured out before she was done. Decks 3,4 & 5 are where most of the common spaces are. The major problem with the layout is on decks 3 & 4 you cant walk from one side of the ship to the other. You have to at some point have to go to deck 5 and walk through the Casino which can be filled with smoke to get to the other side. I found the Liquid Lounge, Punchliner club, EA Sports Bar and shops to be very small for the amount of people who are on the ship. We did anytime dining and you have to go to deck 5 to check in and then walk to deck 3 to be seated. Dining room décor was OK but we were not fans of the food. We ate at the Dining room 3x our entire cruise. The first night we went to the Italian restaurant and my fiancé asked for a pasta dish and asked if she could have chicken ontop of it . The waitress said no that cant be done. For it costing $15 a person to eat in the Italian restaurant I was taken back that they could just put some chicken on it. I got up and walked over to the cooking area where the chef was and asked him and he said not a problem. The chef was very nice and the food was EXCELLENT! Desert was AMAZING!!! I would have ate there all cruise but they did not change there menus from night to night. We tried guys burger spot but I was put off by the cooks being in a tiny room covered in sweat hovering over the meat being cooked (what do you expect the burger spot is on the lido deck outside. Of course these guys are gonna sweat in the heat sitting over a flat grill all day. Now onto the lido deck buffet. We found the prepared food to be bland and tasteless sometimes even cold. This is where the pizza spot and deli are. We had buffet 2x on the ship. This buffet will close from 1400 - 1730 on port days. this made no sense to me as not everyone gets off the ship. Pizza is open 24/7 Deli is open until 23:00. Main dining room and speciality restaurants are open until 21:15 is the last seating time. Overall I liked the Deli and Italian place for lunch and or dinner. Breakfast on the lido deck was same bland tasting. Eggs seem powdered and tasteless. Word of advice go to the Italian place or Asain place for breakfast. They have omlette stations where they are made fresh. This was our choice of breakfast. Now onto the boat shops. Liquor and Smokes are cheap and duty free like all ships. Every cruise ive been on I have bought a watch either in port or on the ship. I found a Movado on the ship that I liked and knew it was rare. I asked the man to retrieve it for me so I could look at it. On the metal band there was a large scratch which I pointed out to him and he rudely told me it was just a smudge and took it from my hands. At this point I was stunned with the way he acted and walked out. We found the shops on the Legend (smaller ship) to be a lot larger. We went to the shows in the theatre and found them to be like a high school talent show. The theatre was tiny for 3000+ cruisers. All they did was sing and try to dance together which they failed at. These were not productions like we were use to on other Cruise lines. The Comedy club does a family show at 19:30 and adult shows at 20:30,21:30,22:30 and 23:15. This comedy club is TINY and you need to be in line about 30-45 minutes to get a seat just to see the comedian. Again the comedy club on the Carnival Legend was about 3x the size of the one on the Sunshine. Comedians were very funny. Now onto the lido deck and serenity area. Lido deck has 1 pool which is very small. Didn't spend to much time there due to the hordes of people splashing and running around. As we went to the Serenity deck (ADULTS ONLY) we found many children up there with there families. I cant blame the staff for this but more so the parents for not caring about the rules. The serenity deck has a pool with a sign that says 18 people in it. When I was in it I counted 43 adults in the pool and plenty more with just there feet in it. This was ridiciulous and I had to leave. They play movies and serve popcorn on the lido deck at night but we found to many screaming kids up there to enjoy the movies. Seems a lot of parents don't pay much mind to what there kids are doing on the ship and leave them un supervised a lot. We went to Cozumel, Belize, Roatan and Costa Maya. If you don't have a excursion booked for Belize don't bother getting off the ship. Costa Maya we were allowed off the boat at 0700 and had to be back on at 13:30. We were on that island a total of 1.5 hours. I do not recommend you getting a room on the 8th deck in the back of the ship. We had the havanna bar above us and it can be noisey until about 0100 on most nights (we didn't mind this its expected) Now at 0530 every morning we were awoken by the staff sliding the tables on the floor and banging around unitl about 0645. When you call guest services at 0530 nobody picks up and it let it ring for 20 minutes one morning. Multiple times I walked up and politely asked the staff to lift the tables and be curtious of the people under them. They yes'd me to death but when id return to my room it just kept going on. The waitstaff in the main dining room was nice but SLOW. we had different teams every night due to anytime dining. Now the first three nights our room was always done but we never seen our room steward. We are use to every morning and evening seeing them and having plesent interactions. I always tip in person and don't let carnival do it for me. On the third night I went to guest services and had my tips reversed. Just so happen the next day we saw our room steward for the 1st time and talked briefly. We were informed by fellow cruisers that your room steward gets notified if you remove your tips from your sail & sign card. Now it makes since why we saw him. In the middle of the cruise our rooms lights & tv went out. We called maintenance which no one answered and were transferred to guest services. Took them an hour to restore power to the room and when I asked what had happened they said the breaker tripped and it happens often. Really happens often and cant be fixed? Now comes the worst ordeal of the trip. On our last night of the cruise after we put our luggage out to be picked up something happened with the toilet causing dirty water to overflow all over the floor. We called maintenance and again went to guest services. We were told they would send someone. After 15 minutes of no one showing up we called again and was told "I TOLD YOU ALREADY WERE SENDING SOMEONE!" I stood in the hall and found an officer who I asked to at least turn the water off. He did so and made a few calls for the repairs to get done. After about 15 minutes he walked by and asked if everything was fixed and when I told him no he got on the phone again and was very stern about getting someone there. 5 minutes later a plumber showed up who spoke no English. By this time it was 22:00 he worked on it for about 45 minutes and left without saying anything. Then a housekeeper arrived to change out the towels. All he did was take the old towels and replace them with new ones. At no point did they sanitize the floor or anything. Now its 23:00 and I hear a knock at the door. Its the plumber wanting to work on it again. At this point my fiancé is in a robe naked underneath and needs to use the restroom. I asked the plumber to leave the room so she can change and use a public restroom. he did not understand me and kept saying "I FIXING I FIXING" and would not leave. My fiancé had to go to the lido deck in a robe naked underneath to use the restroom because they would not leave the room. THIS IS HORRIBLE TO MAKE SOMEONE DUE THIS! After all was said and done they fixed the problem at 23:50. We had a long day of travel ahead of us which made this even worse. I went to the guest service and was told to come back after 0730 when a supervisior is there. I went to gues services the next morning and dealt with extremely rude and didn't even apologixe for the inconveince. I understand things happen that are uncontrollable but not even a sorry or anything. She ended up giving us a credit of $25 each on the account. She then stated all this stuff about there policys but would never give me a physical copy of the policys. At this point we asked for the corporate number and she just gave us a email not even a phone number. We are now dealing with Carnival headquarters about the situation and will never cruise carnival again. Food was bland EXCEPT the Italian spot. Common areas are small and crowded. Staff was rude and seemed no plesent except for the cruise director she always seemed nice and full of energy. EA Sports bar is packed on football sundays and filled with smoke. Read Less

For our 50th anniversary we wanted something special; Based on commercial information we selected a cruise to the Caribbean. We have great expense to go from Las Vegas to Orlando airport, from there after few days at DISNEY, we rented a car to Port Canaveral where we went through an excruciating process: ( acceptable because the terrorist incidents). The ship was beautiful to look at from the distance, but from the inside was a different thing altogether,... faded paint, rust worn out furniture uncomfortable cabin and just outdated worn out ship. Limitations on where to eat and when to eat, preferential treatment to some occupants and disregarded attention to others. The entertainment in general was mediocre, some shows were impressive and others very boring, nothing sensational. The service was based on ethnicity and passenger category. Unlimited for those in upper category and limited to those in lesser . The Ports and shore excursions all took place where the ships company have ownership property and all attendants wore ROYAL CARRIBEAN uniforms. To top it all the prices of activities outside of the ship were outrageously high. We were in our seventies/very active seniors, no children etc. WE WILL NEVER GO IN ANOTHER CRUISE, ROYAL CARIBBEAN REALLY,REALLY SUCKS! Read Less

Everything was rock bottom class on this cruise with two exceptions; the cabin lady and the $35/each steak house. The balcony assignment was overlooking the dance floor of the deck below and an elevated hot tub was directly outside our cabin. After threating to invoice their now money back policy we were finally moved to another adequate cabin and wow, it was actually overlooking the ocean. Food in the main restaurant was good, however the buffet fodder was slop. There was always a struggle to find a place to sit at the buffet area. We could not find the pizza place open late at night as advertised. The stops in Roatan and Belieze consisted of very small fenced in areas with the usual stores. We were warned not to got outside the fenced in areas alone or after dark. I wonder why they even bother to stop at places that are not safe. A sit down breakfast was only available to the first and last day of the cruise. The waiters must be in training here, because they always got the order wrong and didn't seem to care about their service. The crowning bows were on the final debarking morning of the trip. We were served powered eggs instead of the real McCoy for breakfast in the dining room. We still can't believe that happened on a cruise. The second issue was an hour long wait on our feet in serpentine lines to get to the three customs agents that were there. Can you imagine 4,000 people trying to get through those lines. We have cruised many cruises and wanted to try one of the mega ships so we booked the Oasis of the Seas. We had a balcony room mid ship on the 8th floor. The entry to the ship went very smoothly and the port staff was very friendly. The ship appeared very clean, some areas of the ship needed updating like the carpet in the cabins was worn and stained We ate in the Salarium Grill upon entering the ship, food was ok and this was one of few places on the ship not too busy. The windjammer was packed no seats available and the food didn't even look good. The food was very disappointing over all for the entire week. For some reason they had a problem where they can't serve the hot food hot it was always luke warm at best. It seemed like the ship was making the food pretty bad to push the specialty restaurants. We tried the Chops Steakhouse on Tuesday Night and the food was pretty good until it came to dessert. After paying $42.00 a person for the specialty experience you expect some great food. Well the steak was good, most sides were pretty good the dessert was just plain awful. The title of the one was a warm cooking plate and instead we got 3 old dried up cookies nothing warm about them. The next dessert we tried was Red Velvet Cake it looked good but it was dry with a horrible taste. Supposed to have cream cheese frosting and it tasted bad. Tables around us ordered similar desserts and all of them looked like ours and were not eaten and returned to the kitchen with 2 or 3 bites taken out of them. The Ship has many activities to do on the ship, the shows were good but organization was a serious issue. They scheduled a trivia session in the Schooners Bar and nobody could hear what the host was saying because they had music blasting in the Promenade that was so loud that nobody could hear what the host was trying to ask. This was a problem numerous times with other events. The problem was a common problem but the cruise director did nothing to reschedule the event in a less chaotic place on the ship. Biggest disappointment was food for sure..... Steve Smith, Knoxville TN Read Less

Eight members in our extended family signed up for Norwegian's West Caribbean Christmas cruise aboard the Epic. It was epic all right. Epic crowds. Epic lines. Epic waits. Epic disappointment. But not everywhere. You could always find a chair in the towel folding workshop in the Atrium. The best experience was the Cirque Dreams dinner show. The "incredible" adjective is incredibly overused. So forgive me when I say the performance was incredible as were the performers and the dinner. By the time it was over, I was both exhausted and exhilarated by the fast paced show and feats of the performers. And we saw it all while we chowed down at ringside. We spent about an hour at the dueling pianos program. It was entertaining and fun for awhile. But after awhile, it became cliched with music from the last century. Everywhere i went in the ship, it seemed some performer was singing "What's Love Got To Do With It." Hey, boat folks, Surprise! We're in the 21st Century. Mac 'N Cheese, two performers tucked away near a bar on the 7th deck, sang music from the 21st century. Really nice modern selections and they had following at the bar; but they didn't have a dance floor. Too bad. In fact i never could find a dance floor with music of at less than 115 beats per minute. There was a place for bump and grind; but, if that stage in your life has passed you by, too bad. I wasted precious suitcase space in packing a pair of dance shoes. Excursions were too often an exercise in frustration getting on and off the boat and on and off buses and/or ferries. Visiting the Tulum Mayan ruins would have been a fascinating experience had we had any time to spend there. But by the time we got there we had to march like Sherman through Georgia in order to catch our bus back to the ferry that would take us back to the boat. At three of our four destinations, we made it to terra firma. That wasn't the case with Jamaica. We were supposed to spend a day at Falmouth. But the captain decided the boat was too big and the harbor to exposed on the windy day we arrived. And, well, he would have liked to have taken us to Montego Bay, but another ship was already there. So we got to bob around on the sea for the day. Whoopee! My contact who was waiting for me at Falmouth said the water calmed shortly after we fled. Ouch! The captain said he would try to make it up to us. He must be still trying because I'm still waiting. Looking back, our first stop at Norwegian's private island, Great Stirrup Cay, in the Bahamas, was manageable and the most leisurely. For the fun in the sun and sand people, I think it met their expectations. I'm not one of them. So I tried to find the nature trail. No luck. All I found were signs that said construction was under way and thou shalt not pass. Eventually, a staff member took pity on me and pointed me in a direction that allowed me to do some birding amid some very large construction related semi-trailers. A couple in our group went on an eco-excursion boat trip and said it was quite interesting. The moveable feedlot followed us off the ship and onto the island and provided a pretty nice picnic--if you are in to hot dogs and burgers, and I am. Our midship balcony cabin looked small from the online photos, but it had surprising, if not ingenious, storage space. So that really helped. And while too short for some in our group, the mattress and the rocking of the ship rewarded me with some great sleep nights. But the electrical wiring was, like, "What were they thinking?" The only outlets were under a low shelf near the sink opposite the bed. So if you wanted to plug your phone in near your pillow and/or your ipad or your cpap machine, you had to string an extension cord across the floor through the room's only passageway and be very careful that you didn't trip on it if you got out of bed at night. Some staff were friendly and helpful. Some were indifferent or lacked first-hand information. Most were just plain busy managing 4,000 or so passengers. At this point I'm going to draw a distinction. Members in my family who had never cruised before were disappointed by the Epic's epic congestion. But we made the most of it, playing some really fun games that my son had brought along. And the long waits at the dinner table between courses were in good company and that made all the difference. Perhaps, some day our family will go another cruise, but you can be pretty sure, it won't be on the Epic. Read Less

I'm sure it was the tension on the window you heard the tap tap all day and night as long as the ship moved. We put pillows and comforters to try and muffle the sound. The comedy club is way to small. the main theater is way to small. Not that the shows were any good that they put on. It was a joke of a cruise if you have cruised before then you know the difference. I've been cruising since 1992 my husband and I take 2-3 cruises a year. We have traveler on other lines but settle on carnival as our main one due to the excellent service we used to received. This last one has us completely turned off. When we got back on Monday the 26th of December, we both agreed to cancel the reservations we had for our March cruise. which by the way they charged me $500 to do. Their example of Christmas was a 6 ft tree in the A-trim pressed against the elevators. I have been on ships where the tree reached almost to the top of the A-trim. The food was bad to say the least. We brought our daughter on the cruise this year two days on the ship she was throwing up and sick to her stomach for 3 days me and my husband just eat salads. When we played in the casino which was one the few things to do on this ship, one of the worst cruise directors yet. Shows were far below the usual standard of carnival. Any way I was at the roulette table and one of the players asked the guy spinning the wheel don't you feel bad about taking our money, he reply was I have to be here until 5. What a joke! My daughter went down to pay on her card and they discounted her from our card and shut her down. Good old customer service. This was an 8 day cruise on day 6 my husband got sick and passed it on to me by day 8. Now I'm waiting for the doctor to come back with the blood work. I forgot about our Embarkation it should have set off an alarm that this was going to be a bad cruise. They pulled my husband aside and told him he had to wait to be hand scan, we waited 30 minutes and no one come over we finally had my husband take off his belt and show and go back through our self's What a night mare. Never again will I sail with carnival, nor will I ever remand it again. Read Less

I wanted to LOVE this cruise for so many reasons, and we did.... with the exception of the staff who were GRUMPY the entire time we were there for our "Happy Vacation!" Positive- *Check-in was a breeze *Ship is perfect for families- The Family Balcony room had great storage for a family of 4. *The slides, entertainment and Splash Academy were all fantastic. -Dueling piano Bars were Great! Negative- The STAFF! I barely saw a smile throughout the whole ship for any days that we were there! *Super long lines at the pool bar, with unfriendly bartenders. *If you were not standing in a certain "station" at the bar, they would not serve you, even if they weren't helping someone. *In 7 days, only two people actually asked us if we wanted a drink. (Not smiling) *The food was "okay." *Our room attendant barely said hello *I would say "good morning" without a response from team members! *It wasn't a surprise to walk by someone and not be greeted. 6 nights of dinners, and we only had ONE outstanding waiter. That was Alfredo at Taste! Additionally, the ONLY friendly bartender I found was Aarron V! He was the only one I saw smiling the whole week and would go back to his line because I knew he would happily take care of us. No one else would. I honestly feel that Aaron and Alfredo should be placed on better staff, because the rest of the team is bringing them down. At the end of the day, this could be an absolute AMAZING ship if they started with a brand new staff. If they had the same team as Royal Caribbean, we would go on this ship over and over and over, but unfortunately, I don't ever want to spend 7 days of my vacation with a whole bunch of grumpy people again! This would be a great place for families, if your truly don't care about the service- but if you do, I'd choose far, far, far away from Epic! Read Less

Expectation were high for this cruise line because from what I had heard, it was the best. This was a last minute cruise before Christmas so cabin was a small inside cabin(128 sq ft) but doable. It had a very small shower. Every veritcle surface in this cabin need to be cleaned. GROSS. My biggest complaint about this cruise was the food. We tried several locations to eat and found the same problem no matter where we ate, THE FOOD WAS NOT HOT. In some cases it was stone cold. I for the life of me do not understand this. We did ask a couple of times for food to be remade with no improvement. The made desserts were TERRIBLE so we ate fruit (which most of it was not ripe). This ship is HUGE, almost too big with lots of people. Our cruise has a crazy amount of kids. I don't mind kids I just wish the parents were better parents. Read Less

Some dear friends of mine chose this ship and itinerary and invited me and a friend to come along. I have sailed on Royal Caribbean several times but this was my first time on a ship this large. The ship is incredibly beautiful and we enjoyed our cabin and the ports we visited. The excursions we chose were exactly as described and we had a lot of fun. There were a couple of crew members that were exceptional and we made it known to guest services but otherwise service was lackluster or nonexistent. I acknowledge and appreciate the bottle of Moet champagne and chocolate covered strawberries that were comped because of two instances of rude behaviour by the room service phone operator but overall our entire group of friends were treated as though we were a nuisance. Professional, friendly and helpful seemed to be the exception not the rule and I am talking ship wide most every encounter, every venue and every service line. Crew members were not engaged with guest, did not seem to enjoy their work and were not encouraging guest to have fun. We heard others complaining about the quality of the service and thought it interesting that guest were using the size of the ship and the number of guest as justification for the horrible service. I won't sail on Royal Caribbean again. Read Less

Ala in all we a a great time, but the ship, the balcony cabin we had was nice, and had a lot of storage area. The food and service was a BIG disappointment compared to other cruises I've been on. Long waits (up to an hour and a half to get your food once crdered, and the food was not good at all. I did not finish a single meal. And don't get me started on the bread. Any of the bread served, from bus to table bread was old and stale, it just crumbled under a butter knife. Tendering to the islands needs fixed. They only had 3 tenders, and the process to get of the ship had to be booked. I only have a few hours on Grand Cayman due to this. Outside of the poor food, service and processes to get off at the ports, we did have a great time. We met many wonderful people onboard. The shows that we were able to get tickets for were great, and they played a lot of fun games at various times of the day. The ports of call are OK, eastern Carrie Ian is nickers, but the private island was surprisingly nice. Food and beverages are all included while on the island. The only drawback was getting on and off the ship, heard again, have 3 tenders for 4100 people is no where near enough. The off and on boarding was terrible. Read Less

Our room had a smell from plumbing. The rooms were nicely decorated but we're generally old and needed refreshing. Food was mixed. Some was great and some inedible (prime rib, for example). Wait staff was great but overworked. Coffee was low quality but due to overworked status of the wait staff, it was not offered at dinner anyway. There were way too many kids on the ship. Good entertainment but some parents took babies to shows that were very loud. The babies were holding their ears. Carnival might do well to put a warning to parents who are too stupid to protect the children on their own. No doubt these children will have hearing loss as adults. Better yet, prohibit children under a certain age from attending loud performances. It was very sad to see a child of 18 months or so holding her ears due to the loud decibel level. We went with friends and they were upgraded but we were not offered the same. This felt arbitrary. We thought that upgrading 3 cabins and not upgrading the 4th member of the group reflected carelessness on the part of Carnival for not offering the same to us. Overall, a poor experience for us. We got the impression that Carnival (the company) didn't care about us. Would not recommend it. Read Less

Schedule, 8 days was attractive, we like Port Canaveral, had never sailed on Oasis. Not likely to sail Oasis again. Just too big, common areas like the restaurants and bars are windowless, it felt like a windowless barge . We have had excellent experiences on all the other ships. This crew seemed inexperienced. Costa Maya was a lovely surprise, very friendly, and not all touristy commercial. Did not miss Diamonds International there at all! Beautiful relaxing beach day in paradise. Arranged our own tour at Falmouth. We like. Ocho Rios much better. Cozumel is always great. Love the shops on the square, Always a great meal in Cozumel. Dinner at Chops s always a treat, has been excellent on every ship. The other "specialty restaurants" were just not that special overall. The hibachi experience at Izumi was great fun , would go there again. Sabor was NOT the elegant experience we had on Freedom, that's for sure. But the food was excellent. I love Royal Caribbean, I just did not care for the Oasis. My favorites are the Radiance class ships for ease of moving about, the views from anywhere you sit , the feeling that you are on a ship. The artworks on the Oasis were amazing, some of my favorite ever on any of the ships! Read Less

My mom and I chose the Magic in hopes that it would offer more than Carnival cruises out of Tampa (smaller ships that can get under the bridge from the Port of Tampa). We previously cruised on the Carnival Paradise, a ship half the size of the Magic, from Tampa. We were very disappointed, and found that a 7-night cruise on the Magic was more than enough. Specifically, there was no difference in entertainment between the two ships, though we expected more of the newer and larger Magic. It basically consisted of a lot of trivia competitions, the same goofy things like the Hairy Man Competition, and either karaoke or comedy for evening fare. The karaoke machine was surprising for its lack of familiar Karaoke tunes to sing. The major show was completely inappropriate for a family (it was not marked as adult entertainment). In addition, a 9pm Halloween "Meet and Greet," also intended for all ages, allowed two women with sexually explicit costumes. Our seating at the dining room made us feel that the restaurant was very understaffed, as we did not receive our main course until others had begun to leave after completing their dessert. We did not blame the hard-working staff, but rather the cruise ship for a lack of sufficient staffing. All of the crew we met were hard-working and pleasant. Our cabin was fine, and the crew were wonderful, but the activities were below what we hoped for. Destination sites were so-so. A couple we traveled with said that there were young children running and yelling at late hours of every evening, making them wish they were on a senior cruise, as the parents did not rein their kids in. I will NEVER sail on Oasis of the Seas again. I am a frequent cruiser and this is the first ship I was totally disgusted in. The ship is so large with 6,000 that you are treated like cattle...get in and out. The cabins are smaller, my stateroom attendant was useless. The towels they use are so rough your skin could rub off! First 2 days my toilet did not flush, the safe did not lock, the bed turn down for the evening was so lumpy it looked like the attendant took a nap on it and left! now, the buffet food was tasteless and there was no real variety. same dishes for breakfast, lunch may vary with a few different dishes but nothing noticeable same with dinner. They waiters/waitress were walking around so slow and not cleaning the tables as quickly as they should have so folks that are waiting to get a seat at the buffet could get a table, also the tables were not cleaned thoroughly. The waiters/waitress picked and chose who they would ask if you needed anything. I had to flag them down to get a drink or whatever extra I would need. In the dining room they had lobster tails one night that were so dry it was like biting into sandpaper! The ship itself was beautiful but as I stated too many folks and not enough staff to accommodate everyone. To top if off when I was checking into the port I gave the staff person a different credit card that I wanted to use during our cruise. I told her to remove the one I inputted online. I saw her write down the info for my card, she said everything was all set. I went online today to pay the bill for the card I told them NOT to use and of course, they charged everything to that card! Put me over my credit limit by $900!! I just want to start out by saying that I normally don't complain about cruises since I feel that dollar for dollar you get the most bang for your buck on a cruise. We just returned from a family vacation aboard the Carnival Magic and unfortunately we found the ship poorly run and lacking in some basic facilities. First off we have never been on a ship where the cabin steward has not made an effort to introduce themselves and ask if there was anything that we needed. After a week on the ship I still don't know his name. He did a good job with the room, but he should at least make an effort to know us and introduce himself. The swimming pool on the ship is much too small considering how many passengers the ship holds. We normally enjoy breakfast in the dining room and found it odd that when we were seated and given menus that they always neglected to ask if we would like juice and what kind. I'm not trying to nit pick but we have been on about 18 previous cruises at least 6 of which have been on Carnival and have always been asked about juice before. They have a salad bar and Guys barbeque on the ship on deck 5 but only keep it open for 2 hours on sea days, great options just not long enough operating hours. Buyer beware !! If you purchase something in the Fun Shops make sure you get the item that you were looking at. I purchased a Citizen watch in the Fun shop for $517 and found out when I got home that the sales representative gave me the wrong one. (black face instead of blue one). Starboard Cruise Services operates the Fun Shops for Carnival Cruise Lines and after I called them they said that there was nothing that they could do. I called Carnival and they said it was not their problem. Its a great watch just not the color I thought I was purchasing. All in all I must say that this was the most disappointing experience on Carnival Cruise Lines. The entertainment was also disappointing on this ship. Good Adult comedians but the other shows were sub-par. We will be cruising again with the family, just not on Carnival. Read Less

Disappointing to say the least. Have been on many cruises (lost count) This was just bad.. food was average on the good days. Desserts on the buffet were terrible. Talk about seeing a lot of waste. I am sure that a lot of it was due to inedible food. Overall the ship was reasonably clean, but not even close to other lines that we have been on. I have never had a bad room steward until the last 2 cruises we have done (both Carnival). I find it more than a coincidence that as soon as Carnival implements automatic gratuity, the rooms are no longer kept to the prior standards. Our room was not clean the day we entered, dust on the glass shelves, corners dirty. If we left a used dish on the table or counter ,it was left in room. Basically, our bed was made, a few towels animals the last few nights on the ship. Nothing was straightened, had to ask for ice. The steward was very friendly and I am not so sure that he wasn't just overwhelmed. I am not so sure that there wasn't bed bugs in our room as well as the lounges/theaters. Every night , while in bed , I could feel something biting me and could feel something crawling on my legs when in the lounges. One of the members in our group had bites on her. Inspecting the bed every night , I could see tiny little black specs on the sheets, and to my horror when returning home, same specs were on our clothes. A ziplock bag ,with wet wipes ,that was kept in the bathroom had same specs on the inside of the bag. While I never saw a bug, I also know that you usually wont see them. On a positive note the ship's medical facility was good and surprisingly reasonable in price. Ports were very nice and the ship did a decent job of disembarking at ports. Read Less
