We have cruised many cruises and wanted to try one of the mega ships so we booked the Oasis of the Seas. We had a balcony room mid ship on the 8th floor. The entry to the ship went very smoothly and the port staff was very friendly. The ship appeared very clean, some areas of the ship needed updating like the carpet in the cabins was worn and stained We ate in the Salarium Grill upon entering the ship, food was ok and this was one of few places on the ship not too busy. The windjammer was packed no seats available and the food didn't even look good. The food was very disappointing over all for the entire week. For some reason they had a problem where they can't serve the hot food hot it was always luke warm at best. It seemed like the ship was making the food pretty bad to push the specialty restaurants. We tried the Chops Steakhouse on Tuesday Night and the food was pretty good until it came to dessert. After paying $42.00 a person for the specialty experience you expect some great food. Well the steak was good, most sides were pretty good the dessert was just plain awful. The title of the one was a warm cooking plate and instead we got 3 old dried up cookies nothing warm about them. The next dessert we tried was Red Velvet Cake it looked good but it was dry with a horrible taste. Supposed to have cream cheese frosting and it tasted bad. Tables around us ordered similar desserts and all of them looked like ours and were not eaten and returned to the kitchen with 2 or 3 bites taken out of them. The Ship has many activities to do on the ship, the shows were good but organization was a serious issue. They scheduled a trivia session in the Schooners Bar and nobody could hear what the host was saying because they had music blasting in the Promenade that was so loud that nobody could hear what the host was trying to ask. This was a problem numerous times with other events. The problem was a common problem but the cruise director did nothing to reschedule the event in a less chaotic place on the ship. Biggest disappointment was food for sure..... Steve Smith, Knoxville TN Read Less

Eight members in our extended family signed up for Norwegian's West Caribbean Christmas cruise aboard the Epic. It was epic all right. Epic crowds. Epic lines. Epic waits. Epic disappointment. But not everywhere. You could always find a chair in the towel folding workshop in the Atrium. The best experience was the Cirque Dreams dinner show. The "incredible" adjective is incredibly overused. So forgive me when I say the performance was incredible as were the performers and the dinner. By the time it was over, I was both exhausted and exhilarated by the fast paced show and feats of the performers. And we saw it all while we chowed down at ringside. We spent about an hour at the dueling pianos program. It was entertaining and fun for awhile. But after awhile, it became cliched with music from the last century. Everywhere i went in the ship, it seemed some performer was singing "What's Love Got To Do With It." Hey, boat folks, Surprise! We're in the 21st Century. Mac 'N Cheese, two performers tucked away near a bar on the 7th deck, sang music from the 21st century. Really nice modern selections and they had following at the bar; but they didn't have a dance floor. Too bad. In fact i never could find a dance floor with music of at less than 115 beats per minute. There was a place for bump and grind; but, if that stage in your life has passed you by, too bad. I wasted precious suitcase space in packing a pair of dance shoes. Excursions were too often an exercise in frustration getting on and off the boat and on and off buses and/or ferries. Visiting the Tulum Mayan ruins would have been a fascinating experience had we had any time to spend there. But by the time we got there we had to march like Sherman through Georgia in order to catch our bus back to the ferry that would take us back to the boat. At three of our four destinations, we made it to terra firma. That wasn't the case with Jamaica. We were supposed to spend a day at Falmouth. But the captain decided the boat was too big and the harbor to exposed on the windy day we arrived. And, well, he would have liked to have taken us to Montego Bay, but another ship was already there. So we got to bob around on the sea for the day. Whoopee! My contact who was waiting for me at Falmouth said the water calmed shortly after we fled. Ouch! The captain said he would try to make it up to us. He must be still trying because I'm still waiting. Looking back, our first stop at Norwegian's private island, Great Stirrup Cay, in the Bahamas, was manageable and the most leisurely. For the fun in the sun and sand people, I think it met their expectations. I'm not one of them. So I tried to find the nature trail. No luck. All I found were signs that said construction was under way and thou shalt not pass. Eventually, a staff member took pity on me and pointed me in a direction that allowed me to do some birding amid some very large construction related semi-trailers. A couple in our group went on an eco-excursion boat trip and said it was quite interesting. The moveable feedlot followed us off the ship and onto the island and provided a pretty nice picnic--if you are in to hot dogs and burgers, and I am. Our midship balcony cabin looked small from the online photos, but it had surprising, if not ingenious, storage space. So that really helped. And while too short for some in our group, the mattress and the rocking of the ship rewarded me with some great sleep nights. But the electrical wiring was, like, "What were they thinking?" The only outlets were under a low shelf near the sink opposite the bed. So if you wanted to plug your phone in near your pillow and/or your ipad or your cpap machine, you had to string an extension cord across the floor through the room's only passageway and be very careful that you didn't trip on it if you got out of bed at night. Some staff were friendly and helpful. Some were indifferent or lacked first-hand information. Most were just plain busy managing 4,000 or so passengers. At this point I'm going to draw a distinction. Members in my family who had never cruised before were disappointed by the Epic's epic congestion. But we made the most of it, playing some really fun games that my son had brought along. And the long waits at the dinner table between courses were in good company and that made all the difference. Perhaps, some day our family will go another cruise, but you can be pretty sure, it won't be on the Epic. Read Less

I'm sure it was the tension on the window you heard the tap tap all day and night as long as the ship moved. We put pillows and comforters to try and muffle the sound. The comedy club is way to small. the main theater is way to small. Not that the shows were any good that they put on. It was a joke of a cruise if you have cruised before then you know the difference. I've been cruising since 1992 my husband and I take 2-3 cruises a year. We have traveler on other lines but settle on carnival as our main one due to the excellent service we used to received. This last one has us completely turned off. When we got back on Monday the 26th of December, we both agreed to cancel the reservations we had for our March cruise. which by the way they charged me $500 to do. Their example of Christmas was a 6 ft tree in the A-trim pressed against the elevators. I have been on ships where the tree reached almost to the top of the A-trim. The food was bad to say the least. We brought our daughter on the cruise this year two days on the ship she was throwing up and sick to her stomach for 3 days me and my husband just eat salads. When we played in the casino which was one the few things to do on this ship, one of the worst cruise directors yet. Shows were far below the usual standard of carnival. Any way I was at the roulette table and one of the players asked the guy spinning the wheel don't you feel bad about taking our money, he reply was I have to be here until 5. What a joke! My daughter went down to pay on her card and they discounted her from our card and shut her down. Good old customer service. This was an 8 day cruise on day 6 my husband got sick and passed it on to me by day 8. Now I'm waiting for the doctor to come back with the blood work. I forgot about our Embarkation it should have set off an alarm that this was going to be a bad cruise. They pulled my husband aside and told him he had to wait to be hand scan, we waited 30 minutes and no one come over we finally had my husband take off his belt and show and go back through our self's What a night mare. Never again will I sail with carnival, nor will I ever remand it again. Read Less

I wanted to LOVE this cruise for so many reasons, and we did.... with the exception of the staff who were GRUMPY the entire time we were there for our "Happy Vacation!" Positive- *Check-in was a breeze *Ship is perfect for families- The Family Balcony room had great storage for a family of 4. *The slides, entertainment and Splash Academy were all fantastic. -Dueling piano Bars were Great! Negative- The STAFF! I barely saw a smile throughout the whole ship for any days that we were there! *Super long lines at the pool bar, with unfriendly bartenders. *If you were not standing in a certain "station" at the bar, they would not serve you, even if they weren't helping someone. *In 7 days, only two people actually asked us if we wanted a drink. (Not smiling) *The food was "okay." *Our room attendant barely said hello *I would say "good morning" without a response from team members! *It wasn't a surprise to walk by someone and not be greeted. 6 nights of dinners, and we only had ONE outstanding waiter. That was Alfredo at Taste! Additionally, the ONLY friendly bartender I found was Aarron V! He was the only one I saw smiling the whole week and would go back to his line because I knew he would happily take care of us. No one else would. I honestly feel that Aaron and Alfredo should be placed on better staff, because the rest of the team is bringing them down. At the end of the day, this could be an absolute AMAZING ship if they started with a brand new staff. If they had the same team as Royal Caribbean, we would go on this ship over and over and over, but unfortunately, I don't ever want to spend 7 days of my vacation with a whole bunch of grumpy people again! This would be a great place for families, if your truly don't care about the service- but if you do, I'd choose far, far, far away from Epic! Read Less

Expectation were high for this cruise line because from what I had heard, it was the best. This was a last minute cruise before Christmas so cabin was a small inside cabin(128 sq ft) but doable. It had a very small shower. Every veritcle surface in this cabin need to be cleaned. GROSS. My biggest complaint about this cruise was the food. We tried several locations to eat and found the same problem no matter where we ate, THE FOOD WAS NOT HOT. In some cases it was stone cold. I for the life of me do not understand this. We did ask a couple of times for food to be remade with no improvement. The made desserts were TERRIBLE so we ate fruit (which most of it was not ripe). This ship is HUGE, almost too big with lots of people. Our cruise has a crazy amount of kids. I don't mind kids I just wish the parents were better parents. Read Less

Some dear friends of mine chose this ship and itinerary and invited me and a friend to come along. I have sailed on Royal Caribbean several times but this was my first time on a ship this large. The ship is incredibly beautiful and we enjoyed our cabin and the ports we visited. The excursions we chose were exactly as described and we had a lot of fun. There were a couple of crew members that were exceptional and we made it known to guest services but otherwise service was lackluster or nonexistent. I acknowledge and appreciate the bottle of Moet champagne and chocolate covered strawberries that were comped because of two instances of rude behaviour by the room service phone operator but overall our entire group of friends were treated as though we were a nuisance. Professional, friendly and helpful seemed to be the exception not the rule and I am talking ship wide most every encounter, every venue and every service line. Crew members were not engaged with guest, did not seem to enjoy their work and were not encouraging guest to have fun. We heard others complaining about the quality of the service and thought it interesting that guest were using the size of the ship and the number of guest as justification for the horrible service. I won't sail on Royal Caribbean again. Read Less

Ala in all we a a great time, but the ship, the balcony cabin we had was nice, and had a lot of storage area. The food and service was a BIG disappointment compared to other cruises I've been on. Long waits (up to an hour and a half to get your food once crdered, and the food was not good at all. I did not finish a single meal. And don't get me started on the bread. Any of the bread served, from bus to table bread was old and stale, it just crumbled under a butter knife. Tendering to the islands needs fixed. They only had 3 tenders, and the process to get of the ship had to be booked. I only have a few hours on Grand Cayman due to this. Outside of the poor food, service and processes to get off at the ports, we did have a great time. We met many wonderful people onboard. The shows that we were able to get tickets for were great, and they played a lot of fun games at various times of the day. The ports of call are OK, eastern Carrie Ian is nickers, but the private island was surprisingly nice. Food and beverages are all included while on the island. The only drawback was getting on and off the ship, heard again, have 3 tenders for 4100 people is no where near enough. The off and on boarding was terrible. Read Less

Our room had a smell from plumbing. The rooms were nicely decorated but we're generally old and needed refreshing. Food was mixed. Some was great and some inedible (prime rib, for example). Wait staff was great but overworked. Coffee was low quality but due to overworked status of the wait staff, it was not offered at dinner anyway. There were way too many kids on the ship. Good entertainment but some parents took babies to shows that were very loud. The babies were holding their ears. Carnival might do well to put a warning to parents who are too stupid to protect the children on their own. No doubt these children will have hearing loss as adults. Better yet, prohibit children under a certain age from attending loud performances. It was very sad to see a child of 18 months or so holding her ears due to the loud decibel level. We went with friends and they were upgraded but we were not offered the same. This felt arbitrary. We thought that upgrading 3 cabins and not upgrading the 4th member of the group reflected carelessness on the part of Carnival for not offering the same to us. Overall, a poor experience for us. We got the impression that Carnival (the company) didn't care about us. Would not recommend it. Read Less

Also I had a blister, so went to get a bandaid in the medical room, 50 cents for a bandaid!! WHAT???? Was not too impressed with the room attendant either. My room never felt clean, the beds where a mess when they were made. This was the first cruise i was not happy with my room cleanliness . Schedule, 8 days was attractive, we like Port Canaveral, had never sailed on Oasis. Not likely to sail Oasis again. Just too big, common areas like the restaurants and bars are windowless, it felt like a windowless barge . We have had excellent experiences on all the other ships. This crew seemed inexperienced. Costa Maya was a lovely surprise, very friendly, and not all touristy commercial. Did not miss Diamonds International there at all! Beautiful relaxing beach day in paradise. Arranged our own tour at Falmouth. We like. Ocho Rios much better. Cozumel is always great. Love the shops on the square, Always a great meal in Cozumel. Dinner at Chops s always a treat, has been excellent on every ship. The other "specialty restaurants" were just not that special overall. The hibachi experience at Izumi was great fun , would go there again. Sabor was NOT the elegant experience we had on Freedom, that's for sure. But the food was excellent. I love Royal Caribbean, I just did not care for the Oasis. My favorites are the Radiance class ships for ease of moving about, the views from anywhere you sit , the feeling that you are on a ship. The artworks on the Oasis were amazing, some of my favorite ever on any of the ships! Read Less

My mom and I chose the Magic in hopes that it would offer more than Carnival cruises out of Tampa (smaller ships that can get under the bridge from the Port of Tampa). We previously cruised on the Carnival Paradise, a ship half the size of the Magic, from Tampa. We were very disappointed, and found that a 7-night cruise on the Magic was more than enough. Specifically, there was no difference in entertainment between the two ships, though we expected more of the newer and larger Magic. It basically consisted of a lot of trivia competitions, the same goofy things like the Hairy Man Competition, and either karaoke or comedy for evening fare. The karaoke machine was surprising for its lack of familiar Karaoke tunes to sing. The major show was completely inappropriate for a family (it was not marked as adult entertainment). In addition, a 9pm Halloween "Meet and Greet," also intended for all ages, allowed two women with sexually explicit costumes. Our seating at the dining room made us feel that the restaurant was very understaffed, as we did not receive our main course until others had begun to leave after completing their dessert. We did not blame the hard-working staff, but rather the cruise ship for a lack of sufficient staffing. All of the crew we met were hard-working and pleasant. Our cabin was fine, and the crew were wonderful, but the activities were below what we hoped for. Destination sites were so-so. A couple we traveled with said that there were young children running and yelling at late hours of every evening, making them wish they were on a senior cruise, as the parents did not rein their kids in. I will NEVER sail on Oasis of the Seas again. I am a frequent cruiser and this is the first ship I was totally disgusted in. The ship is so large with 6,000 that you are treated like cattle...get in and out. The cabins are smaller, my stateroom attendant was useless. The towels they use are so rough your skin could rub off! First 2 days my toilet did not flush, the safe did not lock, the bed turn down for the evening was so lumpy it looked like the attendant took a nap on it and left! now, the buffet food was tasteless and there was no real variety. same dishes for breakfast, lunch may vary with a few different dishes but nothing noticeable same with dinner. They waiters/waitress were walking around so slow and not cleaning the tables as quickly as they should have so folks that are waiting to get a seat at the buffet could get a table, also the tables were not cleaned thoroughly. The waiters/waitress picked and chose who they would ask if you needed anything. I had to flag them down to get a drink or whatever extra I would need. In the dining room they had lobster tails one night that were so dry it was like biting into sandpaper! The ship itself was beautiful but as I stated too many folks and not enough staff to accommodate everyone. To top if off when I was checking into the port I gave the staff person a different credit card that I wanted to use during our cruise. I told her to remove the one I inputted online. I saw her write down the info for my card, she said everything was all set. I went online today to pay the bill for the card I told them NOT to use and of course, they charged everything to that card! Put me over my credit limit by $900!! I just want to start out by saying that I normally don't complain about cruises since I feel that dollar for dollar you get the most bang for your buck on a cruise. We just returned from a family vacation aboard the Carnival Magic and unfortunately we found the ship poorly run and lacking in some basic facilities. First off we have never been on a ship where the cabin steward has not made an effort to introduce themselves and ask if there was anything that we needed. After a week on the ship I still don't know his name. He did a good job with the room, but he should at least make an effort to know us and introduce himself. The swimming pool on the ship is much too small considering how many passengers the ship holds. We normally enjoy breakfast in the dining room and found it odd that when we were seated and given menus that they always neglected to ask if we would like juice and what kind. I'm not trying to nit pick but we have been on about 18 previous cruises at least 6 of which have been on Carnival and have always been asked about juice before. They have a salad bar and Guys barbeque on the ship on deck 5 but only keep it open for 2 hours on sea days, great options just not long enough operating hours. Buyer beware !! If you purchase something in the Fun Shops make sure you get the item that you were looking at. I purchased a Citizen watch in the Fun shop for $517 and found out when I got home that the sales representative gave me the wrong one. (black face instead of blue one). Starboard Cruise Services operates the Fun Shops for Carnival Cruise Lines and after I called them they said that there was nothing that they could do. I called Carnival and they said it was not their problem. Its a great watch just not the color I thought I was purchasing. All in all I must say that this was the most disappointing experience on Carnival Cruise Lines. The entertainment was also disappointing on this ship. Good Adult comedians but the other shows were sub-par. We will be cruising again with the family, just not on Carnival. Read Less

Disappointing to say the least. Have been on many cruises (lost count) This was just bad.. food was average on the good days. Desserts on the buffet were terrible. Talk about seeing a lot of waste. I am sure that a lot of it was due to inedible food. Overall the ship was reasonably clean, but not even close to other lines that we have been on. I have never had a bad room steward until the last 2 cruises we have done (both Carnival). I find it more than a coincidence that as soon as Carnival implements automatic gratuity, the rooms are no longer kept to the prior standards. Our room was not clean the day we entered, dust on the glass shelves, corners dirty. If we left a used dish on the table or counter ,it was left in room. Basically, our bed was made, a few towels animals the last few nights on the ship. Nothing was straightened, had to ask for ice. The steward was very friendly and I am not so sure that he wasn't just overwhelmed. I am not so sure that there wasn't bed bugs in our room as well as the lounges/theaters. Every night , while in bed , I could feel something biting me and could feel something crawling on my legs when in the lounges. One of the members in our group had bites on her. Inspecting the bed every night , I could see tiny little black specs on the sheets, and to my horror when returning home, same specs were on our clothes. A ziplock bag ,with wet wipes ,that was kept in the bathroom had same specs on the inside of the bag. While I never saw a bug, I also know that you usually wont see them. On a positive note the ship's medical facility was good and surprisingly reasonable in price. Ports were very nice and the ship did a decent job of disembarking at ports. Read Less

I have only ever been on Carnival cruises before. I was excited to try something new. I was very disappointed in this cruise. This was an old ship but I have cruised on old ships with Carnival before and never had these problems. There are only 2 electrical outlets in the cabin. One simply did not work and one didn't have enough power to heat my curling/straightening appliances. I spoke with another girl who said her room was the same. Any girl with frizzy hair knows they don't want to have a hair situation for 7 nights straight on their vacation. But that's what I had. Our steward missed cleaning our room on a few occasions. He would take the extra pillows we grabbed from out of the closet and do who knows what with them so that we just couldn't have extra pillows. He replaced the water in the fridge once. I had to call room service or go upstairs anytime I wanted water. The staff in general wasn't as friendly as Carnival employees. The entire 4th floor where our cabin was smelled like sewage. We had to call twice because our toilet wouldn't flush. And we encountered the same problem the day we were leaving the ship. The food was only borderline ok. Stale bread. Service was terrible and waited long amounts of time in the Windows restaurant to receive food. On Christmas night, we waited over an hour for our entrees and finally gave up and left. We heard a rumor that this was the ship that does the training for new employees which makes a lot of sense. The only things I can say that were better than Carnival were that Norwegian does offer really good deals in terms of free beverage packages so I think that the other cruise lines better jump on board with that soon because even though this cruise wasn't the greatest, I will still prob pick Norwegian next time due to the value. I will just pick a different ship and hope for a better outcome! Read Less

This was my 6th cruise (3 with NCL, 2 with Princess, 1 with Viking), and my first with Royal. Our trip was a get-together of 4 friends, and 2 of us brought our wives. One of the wives refused to sail on anything but Royal, so that is how we chose this sailing. Embarkation: everything was fast until we got checked in. Then we had to sit until our group number was called. Anyone that had sailed with Royal before was allowed to board immediately, so we were a little irritated that we got penalized for not sailing with them previously. On-board activities: there is a ton to do on this ship because it is so large. Rarely did we wait longer than 15 minutes for things such as mini-golf, rock climbing, or the flowrider. There was almost no live music anywhere on the ship, so we spent a lot of time sitting around waiting for shows or trivia to start. There's a ton of trivia, which entertained one or two people in our group, the rest of us were bored with it. The pools are heated to a very comfortable temperature so we spent a lot of time swimming. The night time entertainment consisted of an ice show, 2 different comedians, a couple broadway-style sing/dance shows, and a magic show. The ice show repeated 4 times, and although the performers are very talented, it got boring very quickly. The broadway shows were good and the performers had great voices. The comedians were bad, one did only New Jersey and italian jokes, the other talked about how complicated computers are and how he misses tuning black and white TVs. The magic show was absolutely terrible, the tricks were poorly done and tacky, and most of the show was playing videos or strobe lights. It really was the worst show I've seen. There was also the standard cruise ship game shows, and karaoke, but only on a couple of nights and it was too short. Dining: the food was great. We usually went to the buffet for breakfast and lunch, and the dining room for dinner. 2 of the nights were formal nights- a bit annoying because I had no desire to get dressed up, although they didn't seem to enforce any dress codes. We chose my-time dining, which ended up being a big problem. The second night the dining room was full and we had to eat in the buffet. We were told we had to make reservations every night with at least 24 hours notice or we would never get a table, so it was pointless to have my-time dining. We were seated at the same table each night with the same waiters, which was nice. Both of the waiters learned what we liked and often brought out extra entrees for us to try when they overheard us being unsure about what to chose. One of the nights my wife and I went to Chops (steakhouse), which was fantastic. For about $100, we each had 9oz filet mingons and a bottle of wine, which is far less than the meal would have cost ashore. Ports: our itinerary was Labadee (Haiti), Jamaica, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel. Labadee was nice, although I felt bad for the locals working there. We were specifically told not to bring cash by the cruise director, but there are locals setting up chairs, working the bathrooms, and playing music for tips. I thankfully had a few singles on hand for the chair guy and one musician but I wish I had brought more. Jamaica had a nice port area to wander around in directly off the ship, but it would not be a good idea to leave the port unless you're on an excursion. Grand Cayman had a wonderful beach, but we did not have nearly enough time there. Cozumel had 5 other cruise ships already docked when we arrived. After finally getting through the port we discovered the taxi line that probably had at least an hour wait. We figured the resort we planned on going to was most likely full anyways so we just went back to the ship. Overall, I don't see anything that justifies the extra cost that Royal demands. Some may like the loyalty program, with member-only events, seating, boarding, etc, but I just found it unfair. I tried Royal once and I don't think I'd do it again unless the price drops. Read Less

Well, I just got off the Valor and I have to say I was quite disappointed. The ship is in desperate need of a sandblasting! Paint over paint over paint. Paint splatter on deck chairs, windows, etc. If it wasn't painted it was rusty! The pool is SO small, but there is an over abundance of deck chairs. There was even stacks of deck chairs being stored on the sports deck. Check in was a breeze. Don't take ANY bottled water with you. It's not allowed. You can bring cases of canned soda though. My cabin, 2398, was excruciatingly hot every night and it's right across from "the pantry". That's where room service comes from. And they start early and work late! Doors slamming all the time. My room steward was less than attentive. Some days we had our Fun Times, and some days I had to go to Guest Services to get one. Rosie's Restaurant (The Buffet) was gross and dirty! Food on the floor and in the window sills. Dust on everything and greasy floors. I especially loved the Bacon regulations. Only 2 pieces per plate and under chef attendance. Dinner in the dining room was pretty good. Service in there was excellent, too. Caught two of the comedy shows. They were funny and only 30 minutes. Shows were just ok. Nothing spectacular. Did a dive in movie, but with all the spots on the screen, (a few cells are out?) it wasn't amazing. And the hot tubs are between the screen and the chairs so if they are filled with screaming children, you can't hear the movie. They do offer blankets and popcorn, though, that was nice. Bar service was seriously lacking. Watch your toes on the upper decks around the pool. The wood planks are coming up and they HURT when the piggies hit them. Serenity is nice. Cushions on the chairs are nice and bar service here is much better. The band in the Shogun was great each night and the trivia between sets fun. Smoking at the Shogun bar was poorly filtered. When the elevator passes the 5th floor you can definitely tell because of the smoke smell. Speaking of elevators, they didn't work half the time. The center set was broken/off most of the time. If you buy anything liquid in a port, be prepared to pour it out before you get back on the ship. We purchased a bottle of water on our way back and had to dump it to get on the ship. If you bring your own water bottle, same thing. As a Gold VIFP, I am entitled to a bottle of water in my cabin. Well, that never arrived and the bottle of water they have in your cabin is NOT the free bottle, even though it's the same size. I mentioned this to Guest Services as I thought it was my free bottle and was charged $5 for it. They said I should asked for my free bottle and too bad I have to pay for the one I opened. Overall, this was the worst ship I've ever been on. Read Less

When they did the redo of this ship they added to many cabins. Not enough space for all the people to enjoy things. Can't find a seat at any of the pools unless you get up at the crack of dawn. We only saw two shoes because the lounge is to small for the amount of people on the ship, they will close the door when it gets . We even tried cong 45 minutes early and a line was backed up and we still did not get in. The food in the lido market place was the same every other day and we could never find a seat to sit at. The food service in the main dining area was so slow we stopped going after the 2nd night. This ship lacked entertainment big time. My husband and I found ourselves bored in our cabin to much. There is only so much you can spend in the casino. The best part of this ship is getting of to the ports and getting off to go home! DO NOT be like us and ignore the negative comments of this ship, spend the extra money and go on Royal Caribbean so you won't feel like you were ripped off. This was my 3rd and last cruise with Carnival, now I see why they are so cheap. Read Less

Well, I do not know where to begin, I have been cruising with Carnival for quite awhile, and this had to have been the least of my favorites. For a ship that had been refurbished, you could have fooled me. When I got to my cabin room and opened the door, my first reaction was "oh my this is tiny" and I mean tiny ! The bathroom hahahah sitting down I literally had to put one foot in the shower ( and I am only 5'0) Very very uncomfortable. But that I could live with, since my room steward was great !! and after all how much time do you really spend in the cabin?. I also spent time on the Serenity area and found that there was not enough employee's cleaning up. Some cruisers came up there to eat, but their dirty dishes stayed for hours. I met a very nice woman sitting next to me, and we could not believe how "un-kept" the area was. She had also cruised on a number of other Carnival ships, and felt pretty much the same as I did. Then I think it was Wednesday, the day we were in Belize, when up in the Serenity area we got swarmed by bees !! Yes and I do mean swarmed!!. It was something to laugh about later, but not at the time they were there. A woman got stung about 4 - 5 times. There was not a deck hand around to help us clean up the dead bees, as many many people were killing them as much as they could. Now about the food, hmmmm I was assigned to the main dining room at the 6pm seating. The waiters were very nice, however the service extremely slow. Again, I have not found this to be the same on other ships. The time between the appetizers and main course could be up to 30 minutes. The food was hot, but nothing to write home about. I found it bland and not much flavor. Needless to say, I tried it again one other night and same service, so I chose not to go back, which is so unlike me. The most fun I had was in the casino in fact I had a blast there, the dealers and coup managers were Fantastic, and were the friendliest I found. With all that I said on the bad, please don't get me wrong, it was indeed a vacation and I made the best I could out of it. Carnival is a great company, I just think they have pulled back on personnel and it showed. But the good points, room steward, his assistance, the personnel at the front desk, the casino personnel all made the trip worth it. Read Less

We had a fun time but this is not a ship I would sail again. The pool decks were so slippery all thru the cruise. I fell once and witnessed two other people fall. This is a real problem but it was not addressed other than putting out a "wet floor" sign. When the 200 cabins were added, it seems there was not adequate staff added. There were not nearly enough wait staff. I had planned on having 3-4 cosmos a day. Not on this ship, I cant walk with a martini ...they spill, i wanted a waiter. I had taken 100 $2.00 bills to tip with . Sorry to say I only used a few. We never even had a liquor waiter in the dining room..SMH. The staff that was there were friendly and nice. No complaints, there just needed to be ore of them. The chefs table was fabulous....would do this again. Extreme zip line in Roatan was so much fun and the staff were wonderful. Segway in Costa Maya was great. Shows were so short and the Liquid lounge was strange....sitting in kitchen chairs ....what was that about? The comedy shows were good, really crowded and it was not possible to get a drink. Read Less

Have been on many cruises - but never before with RCI. Firstly - must note that the staff onboard the ship were polite, attentive and hugely customer focused. Superb. Food in the restaurants was of a very decent standard, if slightly unimaginative. Apart from that - could not say a positive thing about RCI. From the very beginning when trying to find out information about the cruise and the packages available e-mails and phone calls were simply ignored. SO not the best start - but you hope.. better will follow. The staff at Port Canaveral are absolutely terrible. Rude, impolite - could not be any less customer focused. This is your first touchpoint with the cruise line and, quite simply, it was horrendous. From beginning to end the cruise just felt like the only concern RCI had was to sequel every possible penny / cent from you. You were a captive audience... and they wanted to milk it as much as they could. Overpriced excursions, overpriced drinks packages, shameless merchandising at every opportunity. Never before have I been on a cruise where it has been so blatantly obvious that all that mattered was generating more and more revenue streams. Despite there being a "strict "no Smoking" policy in the cabins or on the balcony's this was not adhered to or enforced. The result was that every time you wanted to go out onto the balcony (not unreasonable on a cruise) you were forced back inside to avoid the smoke pollution from the balconies nearby. The final irony? RCI send you a customer feedback questionnaire at the end of your cruise... which relates to a completely different ship / cruise to the one that you have been on... and which you can't populate... When you contact them to ask for the right questionnaire... yip.. you guessed it... they ignore you. Bringing the whole thing full circle. I will cruise again - but never with RCI.   Read Less

I always start with the positives: Alchemy bar and staff were great and created lots of interesting drinks. Worth the money. Shore Ex's were OK with the fishing in Belize the best thought a bit pricey, but we needed the boat shore ex as the fishing was an hour plus away in the jungle! Saw the likelihood of a missed boat otherwise. Negatives, which far exceeded the positives. Wait until the cruise line gets sued for workers comp, even by the US employees. There was smoking everywhere, and the casino was completely engulfed in smoke with smoking tables on one side of each table with slots allowing smoking ant the bar with a hundred smokers. UGH! Fried food? Fattening food? That is all they seemed to have in the buffets. Eggs cooked only 1 way and drippy (probably not eggs but some mix!) toast, bagels, muffins were toasted and then set out in the refrigerator to get cold. The staff could not keep up with the people in such a small cramped space. Interesting that the whole boat becomes a dining hall at meal time. The boat designer must have been from a drug filled environment, particularly LSD as the ship was very convoluted and difficult to get around. Who thought up the design, Lewis Carroll? The pool is too crowded as they do their "shows" there. Need to find a different place to do an ice carving show out of the sum and where people could actually watch! How about a stage??? I am glad we brought soap and shampoo, who uses the stuff in the walls that you have no idea what it is? Some soaps use peanut oil, and other cancer causing ingredients, so where is the labeling required by law on the stuff they give you? Dining time was such a treat for us!!! We got to watch hundreds of people sit around and wait to eat every night, while the dining room for the 8:15 seating was empty. They need to rethink the anytime dining thing or the space allocated. The sushi restaurant had nice people, but the fish was warm (not good) and the rolls had all kinds of sauces in them that were not labeled. I should know what is good, worked and lived in Japan for 5 years.   Read Less

To be honest, we were a bit underwhelmed. I traveled with my husband and 10 year old daughter. I have balance and mobility problems which require the use of a wheelchair. We had a handicapped accessible cabin (a junior suite because it was all that was available even though we booked about a year and a half in advance). The cabin was very nice, and our room steward, Ronnie, was excellent! Our daughter slept in bunk beds in a "closet" (we called her Harry Potter), and my husband actually preferred sleeping in there because the constant thumping from the rudders caused him to get motion sick. We have cruised 4 times before with Carnival and never had a problem. On embarkation day, my parents ordered a bottle of wine and fruits, cheese, and chocolate covered strawberries to be delivered to our cabin, and we were in the room for several hours before getting them. The muster drill was easy, and guests in wheelchairs were excused first so that we did not have to fight for the elevators. On the subject of elevators, I wish there were a few reserved for handicapped guests who can not use the stairs. The bathrooms in the common areas all had push buttons to open the handicapped doors, but the staterooms did not. Getting out to the pool deck was a little scary, as there were only rotating doors, and not the option of regular ones. There was one "regular" door, but to get to it, you had to go through the women's restroom (where obviously my husband couldn't go), and there was a step to go out the door, so wheelchairs couldn't use it anyway. There was not wheelchair seating at the shows (or if there was, no one told us) except for in the theater where the ice rink was, and we dealt with some other guests who were VERY unhappy (and vocal about it) that they had to give up their seats for my husband and I. We had a very nice waiter in the dining room, Dennis. However service was sort of slow. This may have been because we had a large group, though. The food was just average in taste. Two of the women in my group ordered both lobster bisque and creme brulee and said they were almost inedible. But Ronnie was quick to replace them with something else! We ordered from Room Service a few times, but once again, were underwhelmed. The variety was not very good and it took FOREVER! Even though this was billed as a "Dreamworks cruise," we weren't able to see many characters. The scheduled times for them were often during our dinner (the 5:30 seating), and the "Move It, Shake It" parade on the promenade on the last night was at 5:15, so we couldn't go to that. We felt as it families were not a priority on this cruise. The kids' club went until 10 p.m. with paid babysitting after that. But, all of the "adult" activities were at 10:45 or later, so in order to take part you HAD to use the paid babysitting. On our last cruise, one of my daughter's favorite traditions was to get a soft serve cone after leaving the Kids' Club, and she couldn't do that here, as it closed down at 6:30. We stayed on the ship in both Haiti and the Grand Caymans, and that's when our daughter did the Flow-Rider. I really suggest doing it when you're in port--she got LOTS of personalized attention, the crowds were small, there was very little line, and, unlike the sea days, no wind! The H2O Zone for the kids was awesome! Embarkation and disembarkation were very easy, and this was the one time I felt like they went out of their ways to help guests in wheelchairs. Getting on and off the ship in each port was very easy. All in all, we definitely had a good time, but I think that next time I cruise, I will be going back to Carnival. Read Less

Please read BEFORE booking Carnival Liberty; I have never written a review before in a lifetime of cruising with pretty much all liners, 35+ in all. After this last cruise I feel it’s justified I write this report for the sake of all future passengers warning about booking Carnival Cruises. We completed two “back to back cruises’’ (14 days) East and West Caribbean in March 2015. My wife and I were warned off using Carnival a few years ago by American past cruisers with Carnival (all hearsay so we ignored the warning and eventually booked with them as we fancied TWO of the ports of call), Big Mistake, unfortunately these were the two ports of call that were called off because of called high winds? The entertainment was very sparse, one professional artist for one show a night only per week, plus a show by the dance group and one show given by the passengers, (that was the best) for the rest of the week nothing except little bands who played for an hour in the casino, they were good but in a casino was the worst place for them, the overall noise of everything going on was horrible. The Exact format of shows and groups for the second week, same people, same songs, same old same. On other ships there is normally a midnight buffet showing off the Chef’s chocolate selection and ice sculptures but not on Carnival Liberty. No sign of the Captain throughout the 14 day cruise, and no chance to meet him or have a picture with him and that went for all his officers. The basics only being provided assumedly to keep the Companies costs down; it’s called Penny Pinching in England. “Everything” is taxed to the hilt, a beer (less than a pint) costs $7 and of course you cannot bring any alcohol aboard in your cases or from ports of call. Its “Compulsory to have your tips taken automatically out of your onboard bill it’s so exorbitant you could have another cruise on the money taken off you for this. Possibly top of the list of problems were the “Buffet” for casual dining, it was Yuck; I’m actually feeling sick as I write about it here. The selection of so called hot food was placed in 6 troughs and out of those 6 you vegetables, gravy, potatoes etc where included, the two choices of meat always seemed to be the same some warmed up rubbish or re-cooked prawns in batter or the like. As for the main dining room it’s stunning, take your camera and take some pictures as you will have plenty of time hanging around, we averaged an hour forty five minutes, the longest a few times was two and a quarter hours so we missed the show that was on. The food though was beautiful. In the mornings breakfast wasn’t too bad as you could get an omelette while you wait in line; the rest of the HOT stuff was cold and tasted like dog food. Play safe and eat the cereals and fruit. As for the ports of call, there was only two we hadn’t been before and ironically they where the two the Captain decided the wind was to strong, first port he missed Roatan maybe but the second port of call Turks and Cacos a ship had just gone in before us same size and berthed ok, the wind that day wouldn’t have blown a feather away. Organised trips as usual a rip off , many complaints from the passengers returning from the trips, in general the ports of call were ok but most there was nothing to do just walk up the street to the shops, never seen a beach the whole trip, unless I was to pay near a $100 for us both to be taken to a beach !! No information was ever given as what Islands we passed or any updates whatever so to get a feel where we were or points of interest. I best not rattle on any longer although I could as I expect you would think I’m just a moaning Minnie, trust me I’m genuine and I want to warn you before you spend your well earned cash as there is better than Carnival Much Better. As for the good news..........Your cruise will finally come to an end.     Read Less
