I wished I had booked a longer cruise on Disney, but sadly we couldn't afford it. My husband, myself and our 4 year old son were on the Disney Magic for our honeymoon. The ship was very clean and mostly well organized. Our host was very nice and friendly. The only issue with our stateroom was we kept bumping into the bed as the space between the bed and the wall is minimal. I was excited that we had a tub for our son, but the water leaked out very quickly. I don't know if this is normal or not. Dining was great. The food was pretty good most of the time. Palo was amazing. Our wait staff was fantastic. I don't know if anyone can ever top them. The shows were pretty good, but I wished there were more show times for the movies in the theatre. Service was mostly good, but there were a couple of interactions that were unDisneylike. The shore excursions were pretty poor. I don't know if this is the same for all cruise lines (because this was our first cruise) but I really wasn't impressed for the money we paid. We did love Castaway Cay. The water was clear blue. Our son LOVED the Oceaneer Club, but not the Oceaneer Lab. He literally cried when we left the ship. Embarkation was perfect and disembarkation was faster than expected. Overall, I would love to take another cruise, but I don't think it will be for a long time because of the cost. Read Less

We sailed in celebration of our tenth anniversary, along with a dear friend who lives in Orlando. We had two cabins. This was my second, our friend's 11th and my husband's first cruise. We loved it. We were on the Disney Magic on the 6th deck, in inside cabins. That part I would do differently on another cruise. I missed seeing the outside and felt a little trapped at night in the utter darkness of the inside cabin. It would be fine if we were never in the cabin, but we did spend enough time there to make the lack of a deck or porthole noticeable. The room was minuscule, but worked for just two people in ours through careful unpacking and organzing. The closet was almost too big. I would have loved some drawers in there instead. The food was excellent in the general restaurants and in Palo, where we dined one night. We chose the second seating. 8:15 was late for dinner for us, but it was relaxed without feeling the pressure of another group coming in behind, and I am sure there were fewer children up that late, making it dinner much calmer. Traveling as an adult group was fun. We kept busy enough, with down time when we wanted it and lots of places with quiet away from children when that was desired as well. The adult pool was crowded on our trip. And deck chairs anywhere were hard to come by. We usually found a some for the three of us after 10-15 minutes of scouring the ship. Castaway Cay was our favorite stop. The island is well thought out and staged, with lots to do from bikes and hikes to just sitting in the sun on the lovely beaches. We brought our own snorkeling equipment. It was much cheaper than the cost to rent on the island. The other two stops, Cozumel and Grand Cayman, felt like places to shop for merchandise made in China. None of the excursions offered really appealed to us. We were less than thrilled with our time on those islands and quickly headed back on the Magic. I think you have to have a sense of whimsy to sail as an adult on a Disney cruise. We are all Disney lovers. We are not drinkers, so avoided the bars and discos, but they do exist for adults interested in that sort of thing. We had our pictures taken with Disney characters, watched movies (including a just released in theaters that day comic book movie) and enjoyed the shows quite a bit. On a separate note, we were very grateful to the Disney team in helping us with a medical issue. My husband takes a daily injection that has to be kept uniformly cool. We were warned that the refrigerators in room were not designed to stay at a steady temp. They kept his medicine in a behind the scenes refrigerator that would protect the temp, and were very gracious about getting it for him each night. Read Less

We are Castaways Club members and, as such, have been on several Disney Cruises. In fact, we will not cruise on any other cruise line. Having said that, our recent cruise on the Disney Magic was disappointing. The ship is in dire need of a big makeover, especially in the adults only pool area. The pool area has a lot of rust and surface dirt and the only food available is if you walk to the family or I kiddie pool areas. Not real convenient or relaxing. The AC in our cabin was terrible and although we complained several times, it was never fixed. Also, we noticed several bugs (either cockroaches or palmetto bugs) just inside of 2 of the restaurants. When we told a crew/cast member, they just smiled, shrugged their shoulders and walked away. That was the same response we got each time. And no....they didn't walk away to get someone to take care of it. The food was ok, but not up to the Disney quality standard we are used to. I'm writing this review because I know how important the 4 Keys are to Disney. Although we had no problems with the crew/cast members being courteous, the rust, dirt, lack if proper maintenance and bugs definitely don't measure up to Safety, Efficiency and SHOW! Will cruise again with Disney, but, definitely not on this vessel. Read Less

We arrived about 1215. Parking at ship was very easy. We dropped our bags off and parked in the regular lot for $120. The Premium lot ($140) is only a little closer and is not covered. The regular parking lot/garage is just across the street and we parked out of the sun. First step was going through the TSA-like baggage screening. This process took longer than reasonable. The security folks just didn’t seem to work efficiently….maybe it is a part-time job for them. They were pleasant, but slow. We got through the paperwork check-in quickly and then got the wrist band for our grandson, who was traveling with us. Getting the wristband took longer than the security check and paper check-in combined. From there we walked on board the Disney Magic and got some lunch. Around the scheduled time the staterooms were ready, so we went to check out our room. We have cruised about 15 times, mostly on Celebrity. We were impressed with the storage space of our cabin and liked the split bathroom set up. That would have been even better if they could have included a 2nd toilet. I liked the shampoo and hand lotion products. My only minor complaint was the comforter on the bed was too hot. If my grandson had not been sleeping with just a light blanket on the sofa-bed, I would have lowered room temp to about 60 degrees. Our cabin attendant was excellent. We found the buffet food to be good, not as good as Celebrity, but on par with RCL. The dining room food was about the same. Dining room service is very friendly, but with all the children present the service not as refined as that on Celebrity. We were surprise to have a waiter from England. He did a great job…and was easy to understand. Our assistant waiter also did a great job. Rotating through the dining rooms was interesting, but not nearly as special as we envisioned. I thought there would be really distinct food differences, but the distinctions were limited. Around night 6 the assistant waiter showed the kids an assortment of plastic souvenir glass with flashing LED lights for about $7. I would guess it was an assigned task. We would have preferred not having the glasses offered in midst of dinner. Two 8 year old girls at our table got flashing cups. We did not buy one for our grandson. We found the pool for kids to be quite small. It is good they have life guards; I counted over 40 kids in the pool one sea-day afternoon. When busy, it was difficult to find a seat or lounge around the pool from which you could actually watch your kids. The production shows were the best we have ever seen on a cruise ship…significantly better. They were all Disney themed, but why else would you sail on a Disney ship. We chose to walk of the Disney Magic with our bags, vice placing bags outside cabin door the evening before. This was painless. We were in our car and on the road by 7:45. We had never cruised with so many children on board, but we got used to it. Cruise Director said there were over 1000 kids. The average age was much younger than other cruises we have done. The percentage of people who dressed formal nights was way under 50%. A large percentage did not even meet the “casual” dress criteria on formal night or any other night…looking more like they dress for a boardwalk at the beach. Way too many people with excessively unattractive tattoos. We would sail on Disney again with grandkids; it is a great experience. We would not choose Disney to cruise without kids.   Read Less
