I must say before we took this cruise read a lot of reviews. Was a bit nervous as friends of ours were coming as well. This was their first in many years. We have been on this ship before in 2010. Knew issues with elevators and room. Will say straight out we enjoyed our cruise very much as did our friends. Embark went smoothly. Disembark was a bit slow, but with 4000 plus really no issues. Our balcony was mid ship and was larger than normal. We loved our steward - Miguel - always had a towel animal every night. Room cleaned and bed made in a timely manner. We ate in the garden café,O'Sheehans,Cagneys - steak was delicious as well as Taste and Manhattan. We never had cold food as previous reviews stated. Hot and good. People seemed to complain about reserving for shows. Went on different sites of cruise ships and this appears to be the norm on larger ships. The shows were very good - Pricilla Queen of the Desert - costumes were amazing as well as the show. Nobody left before show was over and it was a standing ovation. Comedians were great. When walking past casino - center area is smoke free, so not quite as bad for smoke. Went on the Dunns River Falls tour. This was our 2nd time. loved it just as much. We did the Trolley Roger at Grand Cayman - our driver was very good. For an hours tour we got our money's worth. This was our 6th cruise with NCL and will definitely do another. We went to the service desk a few times and never had an issue at all. Very helpful. As always a cruise is what you make of it. And we made it awesome. Read Less

The ship is super big , it has the biggest casino I have ever seen on a ship. It is very noisy and the elevators are ridiculous. always waiting. I personally thought there was not enough outside space. I don't like the free style dining I like to get to know the wait staff and be treated friendly. The staff in the restaurants looked like they just wanted to do their job and go to bed. the pools were very small. it seemed like everything on board was an extra charge. the internet price is unbelievable. you can't bring water on board you have to purchase it and its 24.99 for a case. REALLY. I have been on 40 + cruises and love cruising. Carnival has this beat but 150% and im not exaggerating. I actually had a fall on the ship and no one cared or came to check on me but the people around. The Bar I was in the Cavern they just went about their business. I actually broke my ribs. found out later that another gentleman tripped on the same dark small table and was hurt. The specialty restaurants are very nice but that's another couple hundred dollars tacked on plus 18% tip. Read Less

we choose ncl because of the freestyle and upgrade availability, the Haven experience was awesome. We had private everything, no waiting and exceptional service.. the entire trip was just better than any before ( 30 plus). The ship was very clean, some of the areas were a bit unorganized, like the comedy club. Most of the public areas were very clean and the layout of the ship was good. Some of the shows/games were placed in bad areas, like deal or no deal... it was in the small atrium of the ship and did not have near enough seating. The main shows were not very interesting to us, but not bad. The restaurant's had very good food, but as usual on all the cruises now days that tipping is automatic the service is not what it used to be. The Ports were all pretty easy on and off the ship not much hassle. Overall the best trip so far, unfortunately we have booked another trip for April 15th and Ncl has advised me that they no longer offer upgrades ... I think this is stupid and hopefully they rectify it or I will be shopping for another line to spend my money with. Read Less

Main Room attendant treated us more like we were on his personal slave ship than a high end cruise ship. He busted in our room consistently throughout our stay trying to catch someone smoking. When that didn't work he went ahead and charged 250 dollars to our account cause he claimed he found ashes on our balcony. Good luck keeping your privacy and your money. Nice ship though. The food is good, the excursions are decent but you can get off the sip and find your own excursions just as easy. Little rocky on the way down but its to be expected during this season , once we were in the caribean the cruise was smooth and the weather was great. The casino and entertainment is good The ship is huge so theres plently of places to explore, overall a nice cruise aside from the task master. Royal Carribean is a nice cruise line. Read Less

We sailed on the Sunshine New Year's Eve, Cabin 11019 Serenity. Had the most awesome time. Cabin was very clean and comfortable. Deck 11 & 12 only have 2 elevators to them compared to the 6 elevator 1 deck down. Some people complained the entire cruise about only having the 2. I seens no issue with it ! I mean come on we're in no big hurry to get anyplace ! If so walk down 1 filght if your capable of doing so. Deck 11 walks right out onto serenity. If you expect a good lounger get out there by 6am. The "CHAIR HOGS" are out in full force taking like 6-10 loungers at a time. THe view from the cabin was awesome. Food on the ship was great. Entertainment was excellent. Staff was 99% friendly and helpful, you always find that 1 person having the worst of worst days. Read Less

New Years Eve Cruise With Friends~~~~ We flew into Orlando the day before and stayed at The Marriott Lakeside. We loved the shuttle service offered. Call the hotel when you arrive and they send the shuttle! Well, a nice hotel stay and then we arranged an Uber XL for the Port. Very inexpensive considering we had 3 couples. the driver took us to the local grocery store for wine and snacks etc... We arrived at the port and because of our diamond status we got right on the ship. The magic really is a beauty. Typically we try and stay on the lower floors due to the easy access on and off the ship on port days. Also, if the ship rocks at all usually it is not as shaky on the lower floors. We sailed to 4 ports, St Thomas ( we rented a boat at Compass Point and snorkeled), Grand Turk ( hung out at the beach and drank local beer ,Turks Head). In Puerto Rico we went to Barachinna and had local food and a Pina Colada, also went for a stroll through the streets of Old San Juan- I love this port. In DR we hung out at Amber Cove. Beautiful weather and people. Spent some time in the casino, It was very smoky and that is one of the main reasons I didn't hang out there more. The Comedy clubs had some good comedians and we really enjoyed Arvin Mitchell, so very funny. The shows and activities were abundant. The cruise director was hilarious with his I love you, I love you more routine...Young , fun crew on this ship. We also spent some quiet time on the upper decks away from all the music , just enjoying the sun and good company. I have been on 40 plus cruises and I will have to say The Magic is up there on my list. Please ask any questions @ expresgal1@aol.com as I don't often check cruise critic. Bon Voyage Liz Read Less

It was our second time with the Epic and we thought it would be a great idea to spent new year on board. The crew was not polite even rude at sometimes the officers where rude and were apparently a bit tired, the food is almost all extra charged ( not one price but almost all alla carte also in the Manhattan room) I don't mind this but then the quality needs to be much better. They changed a lot of staff apparently a lot of Romanian,Indian and Chinese crew instead of other European and Philippino crew it makes a big difference. The turkish head of the hotel officers was walking around like a dril sergeant and his french boss was never around. the ship was way to full it was impossible to get a chair by the pool because everything was taken. This ship is there to take your money and don't want to give you back any service. the rooms where not as clean as you suppose to have the balcony was never touched and the glass was dirty all the time in the BVI we where next to the Disney and then you think gee maybe I should have done that one how clean and pretty the spiegeltent show is great, but this ship is getting down in quality fast I could write more negative but i need to work and get ready for a next cruise the Epic was once great no its terrible so no more epic for us. this was not EPIC Read Less

Well, I have to say that I was a bit worried before we got on the ship. I had read so many bad reviews about the crew and ship. However, I boarded the ship with no expectations. My wife and I were very happy with the overall experience. Were there hiccups and minor problems, sure. But, we easily overlook these items. We were on vacation. Why should we let things bother us. The crew was fantastic, the cleanliness of the ship was great. Any problems that I read about earlier had all been resolved. Yes, the stateroom (mid-ship balcony) was a bit strange, but it was functional. The food was good, the entertainment exceptional. The one thing I would like to say is about the other guests. It was very surprising to us that we saw many guests getting bent out of shape over the smallest problems (waiting in line an extra 5 minutes, etc.). We chalked it up to those that just want to complain about anything. I have to mention the bar staff at the Atrium Cafe' bar. Nur, Siti, and the rest were all fantastic. They always had a friendly smile and really looked like they were having a good time interacting with the passengers. Read Less

We felt like we were on a prison ship too crowded, waiting for an elevator took up half the cruise. If you signed up for a shore excursion good luck, getting off the ship is a disaster . No one seems to know what is going on constant misinformation. The service staff are good at playing dumb. Every where I went on the ship people complained about the service staff, one elderly couple stated their room wasn't cleaned until 10pm every night my sister never had clean towels until the last day and she had to beg for them. The Irish pub went there twice never again went for breakfast took one hour to get a cheese omelet only one other diner .Went for a snack the next day ordered 2 meals and water -got 1 meal no water never seen waiter again. If you drink coke their contract is with pepsi . If you go to the bar the menu lists what mixer's they have but I actually went through the list and they claimed they did not have one item this happened at two bars. The best thing on the ship was the last day. Read Less

The embarkation and disembarkation of the ship went very smoothly and easily. The room was obviously smaller than any of the rooms of other ships we have been on and after a few days the room was feeling very crammed. The two main issues that caused the negative experience on this cruise were the kids' clubs and the entertainment. On previous cruises (Carnival and Disney), our 10 year old and 13 year old have greatly enjoyed the kids' clubs and were eagerly looking forward to the kids' club on Oasis. They both visited their respective kids' clubs on Oasis the first day for ~30 minutes and never went back. The both said the kids' club was boring and there was nothing to do. My wife and I love spending time with our kids, but we also want to spend time together, especially in the evenings going out to the comedy club, bars, shows, etc. Obviously, when the kids don't go to the kids' club, there isn't much adult time. Big bummer! Second, the shows were not of the quality we have seen on previous cruises, including Royal Caribbean. The CATS show was long and hard to follow. The show at the Aqua Theatre was average. Given that the Aqua Theatre takes up SO much space, we really thought the show would be far better than it was. Also, these shows all require reservations ahead of time. We have never had to make show reservation on prior cruises. The problem is that the ship had 6,400+ passengers on board and the entertainment venue simply can't accommodate the number of passenger that want to see a show. For example, the comedy club seats only 100 people! On every other cruise we have been on, we have attended and enjoyed multiple comedy shows. However, on Oasis, we were never able to attend a comedy show because there just aren't enough seats. This seems like a horrible design flaw of the ship, or, more likely, terrible entertainment management. Vishal's dinner service was excellent and Ricardo did a great job with our room. The food was not as good as any other cruise we have been on, but was acceptable. We had planned to cruise again on Oasis this summer with extended family (19 people total) to celebrate retirements. However, after this cruise, we will definitely not be on Oasis this summer. We are aggressively looking at other cruise lines and ships. Read Less

Overall the cruise was great, compared to others we found more activities and lots more to do mostly in the evenings. The evening shows like newlywed not so newlywed, the perfect couple, celebrity dance off, cirque de soliel, burn the floor, comedians were amazing. I didn't care for the Pricilla Queen show, waste of time. The check in was a disaster took hours no clear signs or staff around to guide people, messy. The daytime activities even on sea days were lacking, I saw past schedules from people you recently went on other Norweigan ships- they had more interesting things like cupcake decorating class, interactive cooking demos... we didn't have much of that more like bingo and some poolside contests, the fun stuff like wine and chocolate was an additional cost, we pay enough for the cruise there should not be an extra cost. The cruise director Scott and assistant cruise director she was british were very friendly, smiling always and they made the ship more fun. There was options for everyone for food, however we did ask for a special diet menu and a few nights were very disappointed, one they made a huge error and brought us shrimp in our pasta we saw it and sent it back as strict religious vegetarians, next clean plate as we started eating we found another shrimp hidden, we were disgusted. I called the executive chef. At Thanksgiving dinner we were just given a potato cake with spinach it wasn't enough food and the apps were always salad which consisted of few pieces of lettuce, onions and few cucumbers, surely you can do better than that with a salad, we indicated we ate dairy so goat cheese and beets or candied walnuts something more original especially on thanksgiving would have been nice. I think there were too many people so the service lacked a little especially since on every other cruise I have been on they went above and beyond with our special diet to make us amazing tasty filling dishes, here we were more of an after thought. they need more adult pools and kids should not be allows in hot tubs, one day they put bubble bath in the hot tubs and made a mess, the kids stayed in the hot tubs for hours, this should be for adults only. the H2o pool was so small, need bigger adult pool, rock climbing was closed everyday when I checked. The tender boats in Bahamas were also a big issue and we had to wait hours to get to the island. The pros: activities and most shows were good, princess was so bad in this aspect. Kunal our service at the taste restaurants was excellent. Rayz the maître de was good he definitely made an effort. Praveen the chef did come to our table to apologize for the shrimp incident, the executive chef also apologized which was nice of them. Cruise director and assistant cruise director were excellent at entertaining people. Most staff were friendly. and the washy washy ladies were very nice. Read Less

Very disorganized for embarkation, all new staff. We prepaid for soda package for kids and when we arrived was told not on reservation, presented receipt but that didn't matter had to pay again. Staff was rude and arrogant, elevators out of service the whole trip making getting around more difficult and time consuming. Food at buffet was good but barely luke warm. The boat ran out of chocolate milk by Wednesday, whole milk by Thursday. They also ran out of plain olives by Friday so my wife was unable to get a dirty martini at the pool bar. The bar tender at the pool bar said they not only were out of olives, but Crown Royal, Honey Jack Daniels ( but they had a drink special that day that called for Honey Jack). This trip was supposed to be a relaxing trip after i had heart surgery, for my family. I wanted to spend time with wife and kids, not knowing how many more trips i will be able to take due to my heart condition. I hope to have many more vacations but we don't know. We spent more time on Saturday and Sunday in Guest relations and arguing about reservation then enjoying the trip. By Tuesday we finally started to relax but the stress and aggravation of the first few days weighed on us and could not really enjoy like we wanted. Also for a ship that was just redone in 2015, still needed changes the wash basin should not have been in the living area, it should have been separated with the toilet and shower. Read Less

Customer service was completely non-existent. Crew did not interact at all with guests and would just assume run you over with their cart than say hi. First time I have ever not paid the gratuities on any ship. Heard several experienced NCL guests say the other ships actually had customer service and for some reason the Epic was simply horrible. Took a group of 44 and I think each one had difficulty with crew on several occasions. Stay away!!! Tender ports are a 3-4 hour wait,,,its like no one on the ship has ever sailed before. Customer services idea is to tell you that you have to take care of it when you return. Freestyle is not so freestyle, you have to have reservations for everything, including shows, but not for Buffet!! Reservations fill up before you even leave port from what I was told by the reservation person. There are cancellations, but you have to go wait around the restaurant to see when and if you can get in - but don't hold out hope,,,even if there is a lot of open tables, they will most likely tell you "sorry, but we don't have any openings". Honestly, this was the worst customer service I have ever experienced on any cruise. There is a systemic problem with this ship and I would recommend staying away until they fix it. On a good note, the itinerary was AWESOME! Read Less

Embarkation for a wheel chaired person was a joke. There were none at the curb, and an elevator ride and a long walk to the check in area was the only way to begin the journey. With an excuse that they were "short of wheel chairs that day" we were entered on a list of names whereby we had to compete with those who walked up and grabbed on to the first available person with no regard for the people waiting for their turn. NO ONE from Norwegian made an effort to co-ordinate this. Much too busy looking past you and making excuses. We entered the ship on deck 7 with and waited 45 minutes for an elevator to take you to the buffet on 15th deck as the room was not ready. Finally get some food and half way through comes the announcement to go to our muster stations. After the same elevator fiasco we arrive on the 6th deck at our assigned area. The person who was to record our attendance had left the area before the instruction started so we spent the next 2 days being hounded to make our mandatory meeting. Finally get to the room and find out a mini suite had a bed, a settee that served as an uncomfortable seating area, as well as the only place to set a tray of food to eat from. Pitiful lay out and not enough room for 2 people to pass any where in the "suite". The lay out was done to maximize efficient lay out with no regard to comfort or entertaining guests. We had a family group of 6 cabins and were not able to gather in the cabins and share a drink as there is no place to set the drinks or the people. Worst layout I have ever seen. This ship was understaffed and under supplied. Room steward had no coffee to leave the 2nd day as they "hadn't received any yet". Couldn't get wash cloths replaced when the room was made up because they didn't have any until late in the day??? Most of the staff encountered were not overly friendly or informed, and understaffed at all points where service was required. The WiFi on board did not function properly. Not one single malt scotch was included in the drink package. All available at an up-charge of course. If you have not cruised before and have no expectations you may enjoy. But for me, No more Norwegians. Read Less

Well, this is my first negative review of Royal Caribbean- I am Emerald status on Royal Caribbean, been on about 18 cruises, including Disney, Norwegian and Celebrity as well as the most being on R/C. R/C has been my longtime favorite for many reasons however some of those reasons are going away quickly. This line has gone down in quality and service even since my last cruise in March 2016 prior to this one on the same ship! First of all, one of the things you look forward to on a cruise is GOOD food. Was not to be had in five days with the exception of the one night we paid to eat steak at CHOPS. It was excellent but $35 p/p is pretty steep when you have already paid for meals. If I had known every night in MDR was going to be awful I would have paid to do Chops and perhaps Giovanni's more than just the one night. It was supposed to be a special cruise, Freedom's last cruise out of Port Canaveral since it has been homed there for over 10 years since she was built! IT was nothing special, as a matter of fact, downright disappointing. It was like they didn't care at all and just wanted to be "DONE" and sail down to Ft. Lauderdale. The menu items at MDR were not desirable. They used to have shrimp cocktail on the appetizers every night, I never saw it this cruise. I think they had it the one night we ate at Chops. NO lobster night!! Really??? Was told only on 7 night cruises, not 5. CABIN: Carpet and bedding very worn as well as the couch. This ship just had an overhaul a few years ago and they didn't bother to change out the furniture on a 10 year old ship? It needs updating badly. My bed was hard as a rock and has been on the past 3 cruises on this ship so I ordered a foam pad prior to sailing and was told it would be on my bed when I arrived...NOT so. When I asked about it, I was told they were sold out and didn't have any. Somehow they managed to take one from someone else's bed and I got one day two. NO more ice buckets? Sign says Ice avail upon request. I requested and was told they were OUT.. No buckets. WOW. What a way to treat your Emerald Status guest who might I mention was paying DOUBLE b/c I was single on this cruise. My parents were in the cabin next door. Their bed had a huge dip in it, you laid in a hole! The pillows were flat as pancakes. I had to use 3 stacked. The blanket they gave me was so worn out I would have used it for covering pipes in the winter or something. Very bad. ENTERTAINMENT: I've seen the production shows so many times, they were the same. Haven't changed in 10 years, sad. Missed the first comedian but saw him on the TV and was not impressed. 2nd comedy night, farewell show, comedian SUCKED. Not good at all. They had one entertainment boy band acapella (sp) group that was pretty good but my parents being in their mid 70's couldn't relate to their songs. Would have been nice if they had done some older Motown to mix it up a bit. Their name was Edge Effect. I don't know about you all but I have to comment on their awful distasteful "Sexy Man Contest" that happens out by the pool on sea day around 1pm. How embarrassing. Vulgar and R almost X rated. Not appropriate at all esp. when children are running around. And of course they had to show it OVER and OVER again on the TV the whole week. They should save that stuff for the "Quest" adult game show that happens at 11pm. Really! I'm just disgusted by that. It appeared as though these men were actually doing you know what to these women, very bad! Cruise Director - Casey - Never cared for him, hope he doesn't go to Oasis. Miss Richard Spacey from the old days!! So many of the little "extra" things I was used to are now gone, mints on pillows at night, the first night we didn't even get a towel animal. Our cabin steward had a bad attitude most of the time too. I tipped him on day 2 after he brought my mattress foam pad and that helped. On last night my parents and I both game him envelope with extra tip and he didn't seem pleased with that! We're already tipping $13.35 per day per person, which I think is plenty for the service you get and they want more? I just don't know what to say anymore, seems like this industry is just going downhill fast from my experience and other reviews I have read lately of this and other cruiselines. Another thing that is stupid crazy is their pool towel system. Only cruise line I have ever been on that you have to check your towels in and out. Wow. Do they think everyone wants to carry home an old used blue beach towel? On Celebrity and Disney they were free for the choosing and seems like that system works fine for them. What a hassle and every day I would to to "turn" mine in, the station on that side of the ship was closed and I would have to go to the other side, stand in line...ugh PORTS: Well, this was my 2nd cruise in a row that we were not able to go to Coco Cay due to weather. They went to Grand cayman instead. Didn't get off ship b/c I was taking care of my parents who have mobility issues and can't do a tender. Cozumel - I always enjoy Cozumel, didn't go past the port shopping area this time as my dad was using his cane and mom stayed on ship due to health reasons. Great little shopping area right there though. I love the big shop on the right, they have great souvieners and nice silver jewelry I think it's called Costa del sol or something like that. I only need two more cruises on R/C to get to Diamond Status. After this disappointing cruise I am debating to keep my Oasis reservation for March or not. I booked it last year when we were on Freedom. I have been on Oasis and Allure total of 3 times and those have truly been great experiences to I guess I will give it one more try. It is so convenient to sail out of port Canaveral for us since we live in Jacksonville. I really don't like driving all the way down to FLL or Miami. I'm excited that Oasis is now at P. Canaveral in Freedom's spot! Let's hope for the best. TV- only about 2 channels, CNN , port shopping channel, Excursion channel and repeat of shows. BORING!! VOOM INTERNET- I purchased VOOM - the streaming package, really all I needed was the basic package, which I will do next time. You can still facetime with the basic one I was told. It's pretty good, fast for Facebook but my emails didn't get sent out until a week later!! My friends just got them. wow. slower than snail mail. It also logs you out after about a minute of downtime so you are constantly having to type your password in again. It was 30% discount b/c I purchased prior to the trip so for 5 night cruise cost me $60. unlimited. Better than the old days for sure. I like to be connected and able to text, keep up w/ facebook etc. BATHROOM: I like their showers with the round doors except they should have installed the little bars at the bottom like OASIS so you can put your foot up there to shave your legs, impossible to shave legs in that shower. Great water pressure and temp however. We had a balcony cabin on deck 8 forward. NOT ENOUGH elevators on this ship!!! impossible to get one at times and my mom in wheelchair this was irritating. This was our fifth time on the Freedom, it was at one time our favorite ships, the food quality and selection has suffered horribly in the cut backs. The Casino is unapproachable due to the smoking which is not monitored. The Diamond Club on Deck 14 is so over crowed that the trays of food are quickly picked clean and the wait to get a drink not worth it. There is no place to sit and enjoy it anyway. Reservations are no longer available for the Ice Show so unless your ready to rumble with the crowds and fight for a seat the four shows are overfull with people standing everywhere due to over capacity. The main dinning room and Windjammer service was outstanding, along with our Cabin Steward. The Chairs in the dinning room, the outdated TV and channel selection of the four stations. and the overpriced in room movies should be an embarrassment to Royal. Read Less

I was rewarded with a balcony room for my family of 4 from my company for my hard work the year before. We loved how accommodating Dream was in getting us all chances to hang out as a group. With 4 ppl in a cabin I highly recommend a balcony. It's like having a waiting room when we want to get ready. Order room service for breakfast and set it up on the balcony! We also brought a shoe caddy and hung it on the back of the bathroom door to keep the bathroom clean and organized. The dining staff in the main hall was so entertaining! They even helped us get up on the tables to dance one night. Where else can you do that? My daughter always enjoys tea times. Getting to be a little fancy and try some new treats. What an amazing holiday from start to finish Never believed we would swim with stingrays and snorkel with starfish We've truly had a brilliant cruise on the beautiful Freedom of the Seas, what a wonderful ship she is We've always said we would never cruise, and yet here we were with some wonderful friends living our dream Loved our balcony room, food was delicious and entertainment was brilliant Will will defiantly be booking again and again, wish we had tried it before. Royal Carribean staff are so friendly and polite, nothing is too much, all done with a huge smile. If we had one regret,it was purchasing a diamond ring from the jewellers on board,as since we've returned home 2 of the diamonds have fallen out,so this has been a disappointment. We were a party of 5 couples all dining in the famous Leonardo restaurant the table was beautifully layed and the waiting staff were second to none, especially Monte who was so polite and gracious and all done with a wonderful smile. Last but not least Captain Tony greeted us each morning with some great music and conversation Read Less

Throughly enjoyed this cruise. The check-in experience was flawless as usual on RCCL, From check-in to boarding and lunch, everything moved very quickly. We had lunch and went directly to our cabin. Having cruised on Allure, we were disappointed in having to go outside in the heat for the muster drill, but we know it must be done, so off we went. The ship looks very good and the food was off and on in the main dinning room. Overall it was good. We had lunch at Johnny Rockets and the service was awesome. We enjoyed the adult jacuzzi and pool, however, the towels on the lounge chairs was over the top, so much so until one of the officers went around and folded the towels to time how long they were there without a person and after about an hour or so, he removed the towels and turned them in along with personal items he took to the lost and found, so beware, do not leave your towels and books and think they will be there when you return, check the lost and found. I will say Ingrid in guest services could use some soft skills training on how to speak to guests, she was very short tempered, maybe having a bad day, however, no matter how bad your day is, the person at your counter didn't cause your day to be bad, maybe put your personal issues away and use a smile and a soft tone. I just walked away when I saw she would be no help, everyone else was ver kind. One thing we did not like were the hard mattresses. I don't know who they purchased these for, but they are the most uncomfortable ever. I slept on my balcony one night, putting two chairs together was more comfortable than the bed, Otherwisse, the cruise was great. We really enjoyed taking advantage of the valet service. It was flawless, we received our boarding passes and bag tags for the airline the day before the last evening, left our bags out, and did not see them until we reached our final destination. It was so nice traveling so lightly, 4 bags checked through and it only cost $20 per person. I would definitely do this again. I wish it were offered at all ports. Read Less

I just returned from the Spirit (NCL) from April 16th-April 23rd, we arrived a day early and stayed at the Laquinta Inn. The embark to the ship went smoothly and the Travel advisers were very helpful to guide us to the ship. Let me start by saying I chose this ship for the itinerary but 3 out of the 4 stops I have never been to. So I went on this cruise knowing that this was a old ship so I knew what I was getting into. That being said my cruise stops consisted of going to Key Wests, Cayman Islands, Jamaica and NCl private Islands in Bahama. This ship definitely needs some upgrades. The food was very good in the dining room and my favorite was blue lagoon pub, but we did not eat at the specialty restaurants. My biggest disappointment was that NCL No longer serves free Lobster. I was really looking forward to it. The entertainment was Great one of the best that I have seen from all the cruises I have been on. The TV in the room was terrible..Oh and the hairdryer on the ship was terrible, again even the dryer needs updating. Only thing on Tv was politics and movies..such a disappointment but that is the way the cruise keeps you from staying out of the room. Our steward, he never introduce himself so not sure who he was but they knew our name and they did not pick up our dirty towels daily again that was a disappointment, but that was the small stuff again overall I had a good time next time stick to newer ships, more to do with the newer ships. not so much on the NCL spirit. My wife and I boarded the Spirit in what I can only describe as one of the most efficient and thorough operations we have encountered in almost 20 years! The ship was in excellent condition for a ship of its age and immaculately clean. We stopped in Key West where it appeared as though everyone was trying to debark at the same time. It took us approximately 30 minutes from the time the ship was cleared until the trolley dropped us off in downtown Key West. We enjoyed the Free Style cruising, but did make reservations in advance in the Garden Restaurant for most days and always requested Romel and Gede as our waiter and assistant waiter--outstanding service and good meals! We were fortunate enough to have the beverage package as one of our perks and enjoyed trying a variety of the beverages offered during the cruise and on the island--the one interesting item was that while in Florida it appeared as though we were being billed the full price, however after checking with the purser she indicated that it had to be done that way for Florida sales tax--we were only changed for the sales tax. In Jamaica we walked into town (about a 10 minute walk) and enjoyed shopping in each of the three shopping areas. The locals were very friendly and polite--just remember to say no thank you to the taxi drivers. In Grand Cayman we booked the Taste of Cayman which took us through a tour of a rum and vodka distillery and a brewery as well as a stop to sample rum cake. As it was a rainy day the tour worked out well and our tour guide gave us an outstanding perspective of the island. They were most generous with samples at the distillery!! Our last stop was the private island in the Bahamas where a buffet was provided and beverages available, there were a number of people in the water, however the water was still a bit too cold for us. There was limited shopping from some locals. Our debarkation was the fastest I have ever encountered!!! We chose to take our own suitcases rather than having them brought down to the pier for us, this allowed us to have a nice breakfast and to have an "open gangway" to literally walk off the ship with our suitcases in hand and right through to customs! Overall we enjoyed this ship! It is a smaller ship so be prepared for the motion of the ocean. I would not hesitate to book this ship again, we had a great time and met some interest people.
