Embarkation went ok, they need better organization because and more room at the counters to assist travelers. Muster was very inefficient and a waste of time. It took almost an hour for them to show us how to put on a life jacket. The employee on the loud speaker could not be heard so we did not hear any instructions, we just heard mumbling. There was no security so children were running up and down the hall all night because they had no parents around to control them. The children would be screaming at each other in the rooms around us and nothing would be done by security. They were running wild and we were the ones paying the price because there were no parents around to control them. The dining area was beautiful but very crowded. It took 15 minutes to even get a drink order done and another 15 minutes to even get the drink. Then another 30 minutes to get our food ordered. Once we got served our food it was an hour later our food was either under cooked, over cooked or cold. People would come in after us and get served before us it seemed some waiters were quicker than others and I guess ours was the slow one. The times for the Mongolian Wok and Guy's Burgers were placed out for your to see but they seemed to be open at different times and when they were open they were so packed you could not get served and when you did the food was cold. The buffet was normal food but pretty much the same thing daily just like the dinners no changes; the same items were served when we should've had a variety. Entertainment was ok we did attend some shows and they went well. The pools and hot tubs were not accessible because they were full of children at all times. It seemed like most parents were letting their children run wild and the ship employees and other people were their babysitters. The drink program is a waste of money, buy your drinks as you go along. They had about 5 bars with only 2-3 bartenders so it was hard to get drinks and complaining went on deaf ears. Debarking for our port call went well and was fairly quick because we left a few hours after we got into port. Do not do the bar hopping tour if you don't want to be rushed. It was nice to go to different bars and try different drinks but we only had so much time at each bar and we felt rushed and even had to leave food we ordered because of the time frame of not leaving the ship until 1430 when most disembarked at noon. We got 10 minutes at the last bar and a shot instead of a drink because we had to run back to the ship to make it back by the 1930 time limit. If you want to lay out on the lawn chairs you have to reserve them and there is a time limit on using them again another inconvenience. Service by many was hard because of a problem with communication. Many of the employees are from other countries and they either do not speak English or have broken English making communication very hard when needing assistance on the ship. Debarkation once we got back to Orlando was rushed as well and in us being rushed I left items in the safe in our room. I noticed this once we got off and was refused re-entry on the ship. I asked for assistance to get these items out of the safe but I was blown off and told the items would be mailed to me if they were found. If they were found? How do you over look items in a safe? I have been given numerous stories on how they would get them to me if found and all were different. I guess they will never be returned by the treatment I received by customer service off of the ship. This cruise line knows they have issues because you cannot place reviews on their site. To me this means they know they have problems yet they ignore them if not they wouldn't mind people putting reviews on their site instead on me having to place it on here. We thought this would be a restful fun cruise for our anniversary but it ended up being a cruise from the hell. Read Less

where should I start? The beginning sounds like a good place to start. My family and I selected the Carnival Valor ship and was to check in at 4:00pm. A week before the sail date, we were advised our ship has been changed to the Carnival Liberty and check in time will be at 6:00pm. The reason given was mechanical issues for the Valor. Which is fine. However, that doesn't explain the two hours lost of sailing time on the Liberty. When we arrived to check in at 6:00pm, the Carnival employees was unorganized. Before checking in, we sat for an hour. There was approximately 3,500 customers trying fit in a small space like sardines in a can to check-in . Really Carnival? When we finally got on the ship approximately 9:00pm, most of the eatery areas was closed. The few eateries that was still opened had long lines. Another very frustrated moment for my family. When we finally got to our room, the sheets weren't clean. I am big on cleanliness in the sleeping quarters. So I called housekeeping to change the sheets. We did leave the room and toured the ship to allow time to make the changes. When I returned all beds were changed except one. Apparently the crew member assumed I wouldn't notice one of the beds had not been changed. So I called him again and requested new sheets. In addition, the room needed a good dusting. Before preparing for bed, we took showers. The water from the shower drained extremely slow. So I had to turn off the water to allow drainage then back on to continue showering. I repeated this several time during my shower. I went to bed and prayed the next day would be better. We got up and went to breakfast. The food was warm to cold, but never hot. How could that be? The lines were long, so food should be coming off the stove hot every second. Every meal we had was warm to cold for the entire 3 days we sailed. To add to my disappointment, Carnival charges for soft drinks (coke). When I sailed the Disney, all drinks was included except alcoholic beverages. Customers were bringing cases of soft drinks onto the Liberty cruise during check-in time. When we finally arrived at the Bahamas, our stay was from 7am to 2:30pm. This time frame doesn't give much docking time considering we have to get up shower and eat. Initially the itinerary showed 7am until 4pm. Finally, it was time to go home. When we arrived in Orlando Florida. The time to leave the ship was at 8:15am. The crew members advised us to wait for our floor to be called to exit the ship. We waited and waited and waited until 9:15am. Now we had a flight to catch, so time was of the essence. So we went to the lobby to see what was the delay. When I arrived, the lobby was packed with customers trying to find out why haven't we started the process of exiting the ship. The crew members advised us they have never docked in Orlando Florida and they were still trying to connect the ship to the exit gates. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. We were being delayed due to lack of training. Then finally the crew was able to get one exit gate attached and was waiting for the second one to connect. The crew members still was telling us to be patient until the second gate could be attached. Now at this time, all the guest was checked out, paid the bill and no longer in their rooms due to new guest arrival. So at this time we had no more patience. We along with other guest started lining up and exiting the ship through the one gate that was attached. My family and I made our flight 5 minutes before take-off. We had to run, through the airport to make it. We were the last to board the plane. Let me just say this, when you work hard all year providing superior service to customers in your work place, you expect the same in return when it's time for you to be serviced. The spent a lot of money going on this cruise just to be disappointed. I will never ever ship with Carnival again. I had the best experience with the Disney cruise line and should have never tried another cruise line. I will for now on ship only with the Disney Cruise Line. Read Less

The staff does the best possible service they can, but they are short on staff. The friendliness of the staff was superb, but a person can only do as much as they are able. The RCI corporate has set the ship up for failure by making huge advertising claims, without the staff to provide these things. The rock wall was barely opened, the kids area was only open for limited hours, the dining staff had more than they could handle. Everyone on the boat worked as hard as they humanly were able. It almost made it unenjoyable to be surrounded by people who were hustling so hard. The staff all wanted to take the extra time and care to say hello and interact with my children, but they all were constrained on time and being called to other duties. I would like to say that I spoke to Michael, who stated that he is the highest level supervisor in the call center. I couldn't have been more disappointed in the customer service provided. I will never sail Royal Caribbean again, and I will do my best to dissuade anyone I talk to from choosing RCI as well. There is NO NURSERY, and no in room babysitting. So plan to chase toddlers around the ship without anything to do, unless you want to take them to swim around the upper pool with lots of half naked people, drunk, and screaming profanities. I went on this cruise as an office retreat. Let's just say if this was the first cruise I'd ever gone on I'd never cruise again! Disembarking was not good we were supposed to board at 12:30 we didn't get on the boat until after 1:30. The muster drill was mind-blowingly ridiculous they had us standing out there for 45 minutes and showed us absolutely nothing at all! Our first night at dinner was horrible the ship was so rocky none of us could enjoy the dinner due to the rocking which made a lot of us sick. Most of the food was absolutely disgusting none of the desserts from the "sweet shop" were sweet the food in the buffet was cold, old with no seasoning and the lines were way too long! There was a magician show we planned to go see when we got to the room where the show was to be held there was no magician about 2 minutes later the phone rang so one of the passengers answered they let us know that the magician would not be showing up! The comedy club was lame not funny at all, the pools were dirty. There were a couple of minor good things like the pizza, the chopsticks place and the club was fun but it got tooo smokey and ratchet late into the night. Our room was on the 6th deck, two nights in a row the way to our room was blocked off by a barricade thing so we had to go to the other side of the ship to walk back around to our room that was very inconvenient. I was very happy when I got off that boat! I guess you get what you pay for Read Less

We had many disappointments with this cruise. Our cabin was not on the port side when docking at our destinations as we were told that they would be. We found chewed bubble gum in the end of a straw of a drink that was served to us. After attempting to drink and couldn't get the drink through the straw, we discovered the problem... VERY DISGUSTING!! VERY noisy above our cabin due to constant construction. Air conditioner did not work well AT ALL!! Horrible service at dinner 2 out of the 3 nights that we went to the dining room. We left an item IN OUR CABIN, have yet to be notified that it was found. Our cruise date was 9/11/16-9/15/16, This bag was an expensive bag and had jewelry in it! This is a MAJOR dissapointment. I really had more confidence than this in carnival. however this is a major disappointment to me! After calling repeatedly to Carnival, it seems as though it is of no importance to the carnival staff department. Read Less

Carnival Cruise Line Carnival Victory Cruise Ship, Port Canaveral, Florida really let me down! I got married on the ship and my wedding was amazing but what ensued upon cruising was terrible. 1) They were doing major work on the lido deck where most of the dining occurs right next to the pool. The work included tar and other equipment. It was dangerous for children and others. It impacted the use of the pool and we were never informed before booking over 60 people for the cruise that major work would be done. It also lasted the entire cruise and my guests were pretty annoyed with me about my choice in cruise ships. Not to mention you had to wait online for at least 20 minutes to get anything on the Lido Deck. At one point the staff yelled at me for trying to get a hotdog for my 2 year old son saying if "I let him eat everyone has to eat. This food is for us...the staff."2) My bag was put into a night stand by one of my "bridesmaids" I left the cruise without it and was not able to re-board to get it. I called immediately to let them know I left my bag on the ship. I called back after getting information about where my bag was left. I was told that my bag was not on board and not found. I was later contacted by the person who was given my room who had my bag. Which questions how well they clean the rooms? If they ever even looked? How much they care about customers? Especially one that booked over 20 state rooms???? Thank God for Good People because Carnival could care less. They were rude on the phone and very dismissive and to think my bag with my entire life was exactly where I told them it would be. Imagine how unclean the room is if large bags can be left??? Several of the guests complained about the state of their rooms as well. 3) My camera went mysteriously missing....My husband purchased so we could capture our time. 4) We waited literally 2 hours and 40 minutes to ask a question about our bill at the customer service desk. The information/ customer service desk is the only place you can get a room key reissued, ask a question about a bill, or a host of other things. It was terrible trying to do a group activity because we could not get support coordinating, events in advance, or service on the ship. 5) I called the post cruise customer service and the supervisor was absolutely the most rude and disrespectful manager I have ever spoken to . I guess after they receive thousands of dollars they don't really need your future business. Carnival we have cruised with other lines and we were very disappointed by the experience. It was a let down and disappointment that could have been rectified with some courtesy and compassion. Thank you for an amazing wedding and a terrible cruise experience. Read Less

We have been on quite a few cruises and many of them with Royal Caribbean. But this ship was such a terrible experience not sure we will ever go on Royal Caribbean again. We were in the Owners suite so our room was nice however the service on board was terrible. The server our first night was rude and ignored us until one of his other tables left. The girl at guest services literally rubbed her temples like we were giving her a headache and told us to be at the restaurant at 8AM the next morning if we wanted to change our server. Just on and on. The cabin person never stopped by our room but decided that he would just leave the pull out couch all day and we could deal with it. The guest service person that finally paid attention just wanted to know what we wanted. We could have a procedure from the spa but just one of us, or a surf and turf. Like somehow the aggravation we had dealt with would be resolved with a piece of lobster. Terrible experience. Don't go on this ship! Read Less

We are loyal RC cruisers, well maybe not any more. We were very happy to hear that the Majesty had returned. Since we had sailed on the Majesty before we looked forward to another great cruise. This time we booked a back to back cruise beginning on May 20th. We put a 3 and 4 day cruise together to give us 7 days. Big mistake. it started out very well. After a 2 1/2 hour drive we arrived at the ship and 25 minutes latter we were on and eating lunch. RC has done a super job of making embarkation easy. The first cruise of our back to back was just fine. The cabin was really small in fact we could not walk around the bed. It was pushed against the wall to make room. But having traveled many years in a motor home this was no big deal for us. The attendant did a great job, the room was clean and neat so for us it worked out. We eat at the Windjammer buffet because in the evening we like to dance and don't want to miss any chance to do so. The food was average to very good. The staff was top notch. The Windjammer was clean and we never found it difficult to find a table, The dancing was very limited on the first cruise but we were able to find enough to keep us happy. At one point we used our own music to dance in the Spectrum, a dance area seldom used on the 8th deck. There was no one there and there was no back ground music so we used ours. The Centrum is normally the focal point for activities and dancing. Yet on the Majesty it was a total waste of space. The band occupied the entire floor leaving no place to dance. Worse than that there are no chairs in or around the Centrum, no place to put your drink down if you thought you could dance on the carpet and no place to buy a drink, so we avoided the Centrum. It did not work for us nor anyone else who wanted to dance. The crew was friendly and all went well for the first of our 2 cruises. At the end, those of us doing a back to back were escorted off the ship, through customs and back on without any problem or delays. It all went down hill from there. What was good on the first cruise. the cabin, Windjammer and staff was also good on the second cruise. But the evening entertainment/dancing was terrible. This was the second part of our back to back. The cruise offered almost no dancing. The dancing was non existing until well after 9 each night. We asked a crew member one afternoon if they would change the background music to some dance music in Boleros since there wasn't anyone there. We could at least dance a little. But were told NO only Latin music is played in Boleros. We travel with our own dance music so we went to the Spectrum on deck 8 where we were able to use our music on the first cruise and danced in the afternoon. This time in the Spectrum the back ground music was loud gangster rap. I asked a crew member if he could turn the music off or at least down so it would not drown out our music. He just shook his head no and walked away. During the repeaters party I asked an officer about changing the background music to play easy listening or dance music but was told the music selection was made at the corporate level and can not be changed. REALLY??? Corporate wants gangster rap with " I got my shot gun and gunna have some fun" played as background music? WHY? We thought we had a chance to dance when the orchestra was scheduled to play a 10:15 PM but instead of big band music or ANY dance music they amused themselves by playing 45 minuets of jazz, They couldn't care less that most people got up and left. Like us, many were expecting dance music. But no, I guess corporate decided people should listen to jazz instead of dance music? The Centrum was terrible, There was a very good band that played there most nights. But with no dance floor, no chairs and no place to put your drink down or even buy one what is the point. Many many people complained about this. Sure lots of people showed up for nightly events in the Centrum not because they liked standing around but because there was just nothing else to do. Because of this we cancelled the next 4 cruises we had booked on the Majesty. We have 12 more cruises booked with RC but if this lack of dance music and micro management by corporate is going to be the trend we'll find another cruise line. We had been to Nassau before but it was good to get out and shop a bit. Coco kay was a great beach day so no complaints about the shore excursions. To sum it up. If you want an evening of dinner, dancing and a few drinks forget about this ship. Debarkation was fast and easy. When our time came to leave we were off the ship and headed home in about 25 minutes. That was the best part of our second cruise this time around. Read Less

My family and I have been cruising for years from Royal Caribbean to Disney, usually with fond memories and anticipation to sail again. Unfortunately, Carnival Cruise Line particularly the Carnival Sunshine ruined this and provided us with the worst vacation we could imagine. The ship was dirty and the staff was rude to the point of argumentative. We also found out about the contempt the staff especially in the Havana Bar has for guests who purchase a "beverage plan". Apperantly the tips that are included in the plan so when they roll their eyes when you hand them the card the bartenders give you a look for not giving them extra. The buffets are pretty much a chow line with nothing fancy nothing imaginative. About the same you would expect at an office Christmas party. I was never so happy to get off the "scow" and back home. This is my first cruise and I decided to bring my 7 year old daughter with me . So it's just the both of us. The first day I checked in and went to lunch we walked around all is fine then we go to our room which is very nice and comfortable (we got an ocean view in the middle of the ship on deck 2) after a few hours my stomach starts feeling weird . I thought that I might be sea sickness but I started to get signs of diarrhea . We kept looking around . Not much to do for kids the pool was freezing cold , they should really get heated pools it was to cold to get in . After a long day with nothing to do but listen to people talk in seminars trying to get you to buy stuff we go get dress for dinner and my diarrhea kicks in full blast . Ewww tmi i know . So right around the end of dinner I start getting fever my throat feels funny . I took my daughter to a show since she was upset she couldn't go in the pool cause of how cold it was . After the show I was out of it . I had fever a really swollen throat and bad diarrhea . I go to the room I can't sleep cause of how horrible I felt I brought Tylenol and night quil and some antibiotics cause you never know so I'm taking all of this so I don't die . Next morning I we go to breakfast . The food was horrible disgusting slup of food I have ever seen . Then I find out they have a doctor so I rich to see the doctor . They def don't take medical insurance of any kind so I pay $125 to see the doctor and I'm so dehydrated from diarrhea and vomiting he says that I might have some kind of intestinal infection and a case of tonsillitis . I ask if you can catch tonsillitis so quick and he says yes it can be pretty fast . So he gives me antibiotics for both infections . I'm pretty sure that I caught all of this in the ship . Because I hadn't eaten weird prior to my vacation and I was feeling fine in the morning . . We get to Nassau and I feel bad for my daughter it's raining the pool is cold and I'm dog sick . The food on the ship is horrible she didn't want to eat anything so we get off the ship do a little scavenger hunt around the jewelry stores . They gave Her a bunch of free stuff so she was happy but the rain was falling so hard the streets started to flood and we are just all wet so we head back to the ship . I take her to the kids club around 2 and head to my room to rest cause I felt like I was going to die . I laid in bed with a bucket next to me cause I'm just throwing up and going to the bath room so I take meds and try to sleep . I pick her up around 7 to take her to dinner cause the only good food was at dinner in the main hall . So I dress her up head to dinner go back to the room to rest . Sunday March 6 we get to cocoa cay , the sun was out . We had an excursion planed for the aquA park and the all day water slide . We get breakfast my daughter is excited and I'm felling a little better thank god for the antibiotics the doctor gave me . We head out to the island and go to the first part of the excursion . It was horrible the beach was not blue waters . The park was over jelly fish field couple girls got stung I see my daughter reaching to touch one and I yell at her to get away . We swim to the park cause the guy says they won't hurt us . Apparently you need to be in great shape to get on the stupid slides ( I have no upper body strength ) so I couldn't get on anything . I'm just stuck in this cold dark water scared that I will get stung by jelly fish . My daughter didn't have fun at all so we leave early head to the other side of the beach towards the food . We eat . And as soon as we finish we start heading out to the water slide I figure it was all day thing we would have fun but NO we didn't even get to see the slide they started getting every one back to the ship cause the waves are getting to big cause the winds . We were only on the island for 2 hours . Then when I go complain to get my refund for the water slide they didn't want to give me a refund . This was the vacation from hell . Last time I go on a cruise with Royal Caribbean . Read Less

My husband and I and 2 friends booked a 3 day Bahamas cruise with RC leaving from Florida. I am a resident of California which means I had to purchase flight, rental car, and hotel as well as cruise tickets. On the day of the trip we were informed that we were being rerouted from our original destination (Nassau 8am-11:30pm) to Freeport (8am-5:30pm) which means we lost 6 hours of time. The next day we would travel to Cococay only to find out we would be spending a "day at sea", losing the complete last day of our trip. We were stuck on the ship with housekeeping that refuses to knock before entering your room. Most of the time, walking in on you while half dressed. Imagine walking out of the shower while housekeeping is entering your room. When I complained at the front desk, they said that I must resolve this when I exit the ship. When my friend called, the RC representative informed her that only the 5 day cruises were being compensated for the itinerary change. When I called, the service agent was rude and told me to "get over it" because thats a risk you take when you take a cruise. When I explained about the housekeeping, he accused me of lying. Why would I ever cruise again with the service I was given? We lost 80% of our trip and had a horrible, uncomfortable experience. We spent $2500.00 to be in the Bahamas for 9 hours, for housekeeping to violate our privacy and for customer service to accuse us of lying and tell you to "get over it". Read Less

First off, I want to mention that I did speak to guest services during and after the cruise regarding our unsatisfactory experience. They were apologetic and asked that we give RC another chance, but did absolutely nothing else. No discount or refund. My husband and I chose Royal Caribbean because it is supposed to be the best. I have been on other cruises and this cruise was for our 1st Anniversary. Needless to say, this will be my last and only with RC. That said, the first day we quickly realized that only one hot tub was working. The other three whirlpools were down for cleaning, which I would assume should be taken care of before embarkation. As for the cuisine, I was prepared to see different cuisine that I would not usually find in mainland Ohio. Yet, none of the menus advertised had an array of seafood, let alone what someone could consider exotic or specific to the Caribbean. Also, I am a coffee person. I don’t require specialty drinks or specifics, just fresh coffee. To my dismay, even the Starbucks onboard was nothing like any Starbucks I have tasted. The grounds had clearly been around for a while. Also, the coffee served in the dining areas was nothing to brag about either. On the 5th deck, there was an obvious stench of sewage right beside the guest services desk. Many of the passengers were complaining and when it was brought up to the staff, the staff acted as if they had not noticed. That smell resided there for most of the voyage. My husband and I had planned to attend excursions in Nassau and Coco Cay. Our excursion from Nassau was amazing. The location (Blue Lagoon) was not crowded and had clear waters. The excursion to Coco Cay was awful. First off, the sand was not clean nor was the water clear. The Aqua Park excursion, which the RC staff constantly raved about, was disgusting. The water was cloudy, had a terrible smell, and the inflatable platforms were just beyond dirty. The very first platform we discovered had an opening through the middle where one could jump through and swim under. I was ready to jump in, until I saw all of the algae, seaweed, and dead fish floating inside. My husband informed your staff member who was in charge of the event at the time. He was not concerned and said that it was okay and “natural”. Lastly, after we had returned to Port Canaveral, we were prepared to disembark. We reported to the respective area at the requested time. We had to wait through every step of the disembarkation process. From the auditorium to customs, we were standing in a long, crowded maze of unhappy people. On top of that, when we received our luggage that had been collected outside of our stateroom by the staff, one of the wheels had been broken off of our largest suitcase. Needless to say, dragging that suitcase through the parking garage was not an enjoyable finale. I am not usually one to complain and that is why it has been a period of time since the cruise until now. I was going to ignore what happened and choose a different cruise line for our next vacation. But the experience still upsets me. My husband and I chose to have a simple honeymoon and take a large vacation for our anniversary. I now regret that choice very much. Read Less

There were SO many things wrong with this cruise that I dont even know where to start!!! My best friend and I decided to go on this short cruise for her birthday. We paid over $1200 for this cruise, so it wasnt like we got a great deal or anything. We could have went with another cruise line for less but the dates just werent right. She has been on 21 cruises and has been on some with Carnival and she never had a problem but it just wasnt her favorite so she stopped using them. She decided to give them another shot this time. BIG MISTAKE. We got into our room - it was an ocean view - and the first thing we noticed was that the window was FILTHY. You couldnt even see out of it! What a waste of money! Next, the room was freezing and we couldnt find a thermostat. Finally, we looked up and saw it was on the ceiling! You had to stand on the bed, table, or trash can to turn this severely outdated AC unit down. AWFUL and very unsafe. After that we went to our muster station to do the safety drills. What a JOKE that was!!! There was no way they got an accurate head count and our section didnt even get escorted to life boats. It also took 45 minutes! Ive never been on a cruise where it took longer than 20 and they actually checked off your name and room number to make sure you were there and did everything properly. Carnival definitely needs to train their staff better because if an actual emergency occurred, they probably wouldnt have the slightest idea what to do. Once we were finally dismissed, we went back to our room and saw our stateroom attendant. He never introduced himself, said hi, anything.. We asked him to take our bed apart. He told us that he would do it the next day. We thought that it wasnt an unreasonable request as its his job but just said ok because we didnt want any issues. The bed was not good. It did not feel like a king bed like it feels on other cruises when they have the twins together. This one felt like it had two different sizes mattresses and they were splitting apart even though they had a big sheet on them connecting them. I would roll over and worry about falling in the gap. It was ridiculous. THEN we noticed the noise. We never did find out what was above our room on deck 8 because all the deck plan showed was galley - no through access - but there was CONSTANT noise that sounded like banging or construction of some sort. I have no idea what it was. But we would hear things at all hours of the night. It was very hard to get any sleep. The ship itself was noisy and rocky. There were no stabilizers and I found myself feeling nauseous the first night. I went to Guest Services to get some sea sick pills as I somehow managed to forget mine and was told they were $4 for 4 pills. Most cruise lines these are complimentary! They do not want you getting sick on their ship. Not Carnival!! I could see if they gave you one or two then charged you, but right off the bat! The second day was not much better. We were in Nassau - nothing special. Get back on ship and entering our room I smelled an odor. I am always smelling things no one else smells (guess strong sense of smell?) so my friend didnt smell it. It was by the door and you dont really stand there or anything so once I was in the room I didnt smell it. Didnt think anything of it since she didnt smell it. Well that day was her birthday as well. I had previously asked someone at Guest Services what I could do aside from decorating the room and ordering a big cake since it was just the two of us. He said that he could put a note in so that when we went to dinner that night, they would bring out a personal cake for her. I said that would be perfect. Well dont you know we went to dinner and they never did it. I didnt mention this to her at the time because she was already not happy with everything else that had been going on such as asking for wine glasses twice and not receiving them. We finally took two water glasses off a cart. We even tried to take our water glasses out of the dining room the first night to have glasses and they stopped us! On Royal you can take glasses from anywhere to anywhere on the ship. They dont care. Carnival apparently does. We went back to the room and went to bed and planned to stay in our room for most of our day at sea as we were so irritated by this point. The morning of our third day - our day at sea - i smelled the odor again that i had smell on the first and second day. My friend put our breakfast tray out and she too also smelled it. She happened to look down behind the door and saw a stain. It was VOMIT!!!! Apparently the previous people decided to drink too much or whatever but someone got sick right in front of the door in the corner and it was not cleaned up properly. So what we were smelling was vomit!!!! We notified our stateroom attendant right away who by now was not our favorite person anyway, and he argued with us that it was not vomit and that it was a smell coming from the air conditioner. I told him that it did not smell like a leaky AC, it wasnt musty or mildew, it was sour! Theres a big difference. He would not listen to us. He had his assistant come in (who was actually very nice) and sprinkle something on the carpet and vacuum it up but that just made the smell 10 times worse and throughout the room! We had had enough by then and went to guest services and explained what was going on along with everything else that was wrong with this cruise. The guy there called the Housekeeping Supervisor and she showed up and said that the stateroom attendant had called her and she told him that he was correct, it was from the AC problem they were having in the hallway that was causing another odor but once she was actually in our room she said she was incorrect because she smelled it and it wasnt the AC. We were right. She called someone to come steam clean that part of the carpet. We then had to leave a blower in our room. So our last day, our day at sea, that we just wanted to relax was ruined because we had a blower in our room and couldnt even talk to each other because it was so loud. Then it was removed in the evening before the spot was even dry anyway! And the smell was AWFUL. Then someone else came around 9pm, a Housekeeping Manager I believe, and asked if we wanted it steam cleaned again. We said no, that it was late and they had already ruined our last day on the ship. She apologized for the inconvenience but that was about it. That night we tried to sleep and instead of banging noises above us it was music thumping until about 3am! The next day we woke up to a letter apologizing and offering us 15% off another 2 or 3 day cruise. Are they crazy?? Do they really think we would give them any more of our money after spending over $1200 on a 3 day cruise (an expensive price as it is) that was awful?? and ruining my best friends birthday?? And only a 3 day cruise? So it would be the same ship! NO THANK YOU!!!!! We may have considered it if it was for a longer cruise and we found a good deal or something, then MAYBE we would give Carnival another shot. But even if we did that it would not be a very, very long time. At this point I honestly dont see myself ever going on a Carnival ship again. Other issues we had was that the food was crappy. The best things were the burgers off the grill by the pool and the fried vegetable spring rolls and warm chocolate melting cake from the dining room. Everything else was below standard. And the lines were outrageous. It seemed like they always had one part of the buffet closed causing the one side that was open to be about 50 people long and then people would have one person wait and once that person got closer they would bring their group over and cut in line. It was ridiculous. They also set food out for the next meal sometimes 45 minutes early! Thats why one side was closed: because they were preparing for the next meal. The food isnt even that great to begin with so why would someone want to eat it after its been sitting out for 45 minutes? Aside from that, the staff was incredibly rude. For example, at breakfast they have someone giving you the bacon and ham. I asked for some bacon. When the lady gave me some I also asked if I could have some ham. She signed and practically rolled her eyes because I asked her for something else. Im sorry, but thats your job! And I paid enough money for this cruise that I am sure as hell going to eat as much of your crappy food as I want. We were so fed up with the lines for food that for dinner every night we went to the dining room just to get away from it. Ive never done that on a cruise but ive also never done one as short as a 3 day so normally I space out buffet dinners and dining room meals. This time we did all dining room and even that took an hour and a half to 2 hours. Too long. The two times we tried to order room service so we wouldnt have to be bothered, we were told it would be over an hour. Even when I woke up once at 2am from the banging and couldnt go back to sleep and wanted a BLT. Does it really take an hour to make that/ Another time we wanted fresh fruit. We were told it would over an hour. for FRUIT. You put it on the plate and bring it! Also, our first morning on the ship, we didnt receive our breakfast. I called room service and was told that they received our order but we had forgotten to put a time. So instead of calling to ask us when we wanted it or just bringing it before breakfast was over, they did nothing until I called. Then they asked if we wanted it then. I said that was fine. So they brought it and threw it down and left before we could even check it. It was wrong. They gave us two things we didnt order and forgot what I really wanted - my banana and cherrios! They also gave us three packets of sugar for hot tea and coffee. Amazing. As far as the cabin goes aside from what I have already mentioned - the bathroom was gross. It definitely was not the cleanest. There were hand prints on the mirror in the actual room where the vanity is. There was also something that looked like clear nail polish dried on it. They have one pool on the whole ship and in 90 degree weather it was packed like sardines! I am not a pool person anyway, especially with that many people, but it would have been nice if I could have just stuck my foot in or sat in a lounge chair. And the adult only area was a joke. Too many kids for my taste on Carnival which was surprising since I know they try to gear their advertisements toward children and family but everyone knows its a party boat. So I guess parents go on Carnival to have someone else watch their kids so they can party! GREAT!!!! For anyone interested: Royal Caribbean is the cruise line I would recommend. Their service is outstanding, food is excellent, entertainment is on par and their prices are very reasonable. And considering we paid over $1200 for a three day cruise with Carnival when we could have gotten a 5 day cruise with Royal for the same price - its a no brainer!!! Dont make the same mistake we did and do not even waste your time or money with Carnival! Read Less

This cruise was set to go to Coco cay St Thomas and St Marrten However 9 pm the night before we were sent an e mail at 9 pm saying there was a technical issue and the itenerary was changed. We went to Nassau for 2 days of ship repairs meaning we had to cut the blades of the main propeller off because of a main bearing issue that has plagued the ship since it was built. After this we went to Cozumel which was the only port that had an open slot that week RCL made it sounded like it happened the night before however the Captian spilled the beans and said they had know longer because they were looking for a port the week previous. The food and service was horrible on this ship and we hate to say this because we are loyal RCL cruisers. This is the short verion I can go on with the series of mishap and adventures. I will say my parents are going on the same ship and itenerary today Dec 14 and they were call last night late with the same song and dance as we got. This kind of bad business practice RCL has adopted is starting to get them the same reputation as Carnival Read Less

I booked this cruise to surprise my husband for his 50th birthday. This was our 4th time sailing on the Sensation, our 10th cruise with 7 of these being with Carnival, and we were very disappointed this time. Living very close to Port Canaveral it is a nice option to have for a short vacation. Prior to boarding I was called by Carnival to see if I would be interested in an upgrade and I took this offer when I spoke with the representative she had made arrangements for my husbands birthday at our dining. After booking with the upgrade I purchased online the birthday package cake and decorations to be brought to the room during the day while we were at port in Nassau. Putting my trust in Carnival was a mistake. I came on board with nothing because I had believed the cake, decorations, etc.. would be handled. Boarding the ship was great I would recommend priority booking to anyone, this made boarding comfortable and effortless. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. We arrived about 12:30 -1:00 and was told that our room was not ready. We purchased the "Cheers" drink package, I don't feel that it is fair for the shorter cruises the price is higher because we definitely did not get our moneys worth on this. This should be a flat rate for all cruises without the drink restrictions. We have noticed in the past that the food on the longer cruises has been better and we still feel this way. Again with this being our 4th time on the Sensation we already anticipated the long lines and lack of choices compared to other boats, nothing has changed here. I have always boasted to friends and family that the service with Carnival is much better than other cruise lines. The Sensation seems to be lacking in this aspect. The service on this boat was much better in the past. The dining staff, room stewards, casino staff and bar service would always refer to you by name and know what you need. We were disappointed that we didn't have this on this trip.It almost felt that the boat was under staffed. Long waits at the bar or you would wait forever for bar service at any of the gaming tables in the casino, and don't even think that you could get a drink if you were playing slots, we would have to leave and go to the bar to get a drink ourselves and then wait in a huge line because only one or two bartenders would be working. The casino has also made some changes. Newer slot machines which was probably needed but it seems to be focusing more on the penny slots. But more importantly the payout was not there. On past cruises we could at least win a little to make you want to keep playing but not anymore. We spent 3x more than we won.And also speaking with other guest that had sailed this boat before they felt the same way. We were not alone,no one was enjoying the casino as they had in the past. After we docked in Nassau on my husbands birthday, I was elated knowing that when we returned back to the boat the cake and decorations would be there. I felt that I could relax and enjoy a vacation too and trusted that Carnival had everything that I ordered prior to boarding. We spent the day in Nassau visiting the Atlantis for some gambling and some restaurants. After getting back on the ship and to our room after 5pm, I was certain that when we opened the door the cake and decor would have been set up.Nothing was done. I resorted back to my original thought that the boat seemed under staffed and maybe they were running behind. We got ready for our dinner which was the late seating and this was the elegant night. Again I had made arrangements for them to sing to my husband for his birthday. When we arrived and sat at our table the waitstaff had approached my husband about his hat. They told him no hats were allowed on the formal night. My husband wears a hat for personal reasons, and is very self conscious about why. So instead of explaining to them causing him ant further embarrassment or humiliation we stood up and left. We were given no options. As we were walking out of the dining room I not only noticed people in hats but, t-shirts,shorts,and flip flop sandals. These people were not being turned away. This situation also made it to uncomfortable to eat in the dining room for the rest of the cruise. We then had to eat dinner on the lido deck arriving about 5 minutes before they were shutting down the buffet. Not even enough time to get through the food line and the salad bar. They are quick to break down these food stations and if you ask any questions there is a real language barrier. After this we went back to our room and still no cake or decorations. At this point I am so upset and go down to guest services to find out what went wrong. I believe they tried to find every way manageable for them not to take the blame and say this was a mistake on my part. I showed them the conformation # for what I had ordered and time requested. The manager then came out and apologized and said there was an issue with the computer system. I told her about the dinner issues and how I had not brought anything because I was under the impression it would be handled by Carnival. I told her this was my husbands 50th birthday. You only turn 50 once. I was in tears and so sad that this birthday had turned out this way, she offered me a tissue and said they would sent the birthday package to the room within 15 min. I told her not to bother because it was already 10pm. She pleaded to let them send the cake and something special to the room. I was so upset and felt there was no other option to salvage this special day for my husband. They sent the cake and decorations as well as a bottle of champagne. I guess the champagne was supposed to make everything alright? Neither of us even drink champagne so this was left on the boat. I am a very forgiving optimistic person and hope that this was an isolated incidence.I also feel that I was way to patient about this for as upset as I was. I spent way to much money on this cruise for what I had received. I'm not saying that I will never sail with Carnival again, just not on the Sensation. I will however be looking into other cruise lines that sail out of our port to maybe give them a chance. Read Less

My partner and I went on this cruise due to a promotional offer. We simply didn't know what to expect since it was a non-major brand cruise line. The hotel included in the package was dreary and dingy. We had a ticket to dine at the buffet, however we got food poisoning. We complained to the customer service desk, they didn't care. The embarkation wasn't very fast. Once on the ship, you had to navigate through the dining area since it was clogged and not moving. The food was ridiculously bad. Overcooked pasta, bland sauce, iceberg lettuce salad, and sickly sweet tea. It took us 40min just to get our food, and 10min just to find an empty seat. We tried to mingle with others, but everyone seemed frustrated and tried to make the best of the situation. The room we originally had was an interior room, however thinking we'd really benefit from an oceanview, we really weren't. There were no US power outlets and we had to get adapters from the help desk. The oceanview window wasn't even a great view, and the small sized window let in just a bit of light. The edges of the window were rusted and the walls had a sloppy paint job. Bedding couldn't be moved from twins to a full size, strangely. We didn't enjoy the room at all, and yearned to get out of it. Decor of the ship's public rooms were very strange, much like taste out of the late '80's. Floral murals, anyone? The outdoor pool deck left so much to be desired. There were fishtank-like pools and puny spa areas, and there was no way to just dip one's feet in the (not so clean) water. The carpet flooring was soiled all over the place, and I was afraid walking around on it with bare feet. Literally every 30min, the captain or whoever got on the speaker to solicit the passengers in going to the casino. We thought we'd get some peace and quiet in our stateroom, but nope, it was like the volume of a siren. Port of Bahamas had stormy weather. We didn't even bother getting into a cab to go to the water or one of the many tourist traps. We did however find some staff that were very nice. There were just a few of them, the rest were either rude or bad apples. The crew as a whole is not happy on this ship. Our server was very loyal and nice to us once we presented him with a nice tip. Even then, the service was just slow. It took 1hr 30min to get from app's to desserts. The food wasn't quite up to par...it was either bland, dry, or cold. We're not even keen of salty food, but for them to under-season so much was a surprise. The entertainment was hit-or-miss. There were some duds, however there were also some special gems that wowed us. It all depended on who was performing and on which night (it also depends on your taste!). The gym was VERY nice, however was a bit small. The spa staff at the entrance to the gym were rude and just talked smack about the passengers the whole time. All in all, you'd probably like this vacation if you were buzzed/drunk the whole time. This whole cruise, aside from transportation to the marina and the room upgrade, was entirely free. It's free for a reason! Read Less
