Very good design.
Liked the curtain between the bed and bath as wife is late sleeper. Shower is nice and large but curtain is pesky as always.
We were not bothered by motion even though seas we a bit high a few days( neither of us have any problems with motion)
Stewards were very good which is common on Rotterdam deck.
Furniture is pretty worn and the TV has a very small screen. Read entire member review >>
The cabin was typical for a Balcony cabin. It did include a bathtub which was nice. The cabin staff was very responsive. We were disappointed that Holland America still allowed smoking on the balconies on our cruise though our ticket said it was not allowed. This limited my wife's use of the balcony as she is very sensitive to smoke and we had a heavy cigar smoker next door. We would have reserved a window cabin or skipped this cruise altogether if we had known. Despite what our ticket said, Holland America did not change to non-smoking until January 2017. We expressed our displeasure both on board and to Holland America corporate about how their inconsistency impacted our experience but did not receive significant consideration particularly by the corporate office. Cabin was very clean - convenient to activity decks - room steward was outstanding - very helpful, responsive to any request and like most of the crew always smiling and sincerely trying to be helpful in any way.
Bathroom was more spacious than last two cruises on celebrity and princess and although we didn't need it a bathtub was standard.
We discovered many secret drawers and hideaway storage areas that weren't obvious at first. balcony for our cabin was larger (deeper) than those on decks above and although we didn't use it because of cool weather, I would request this cabin or category again. Read entire member review >>
The cabin was smaller than the same category cabin I have had on Carnival or Norwegian, but the bathroom was much roomier (even includes a bathtub) and the balcony was larger than I have had before. The panels between balconies even open if you know your neighbor and would like to join balconies. The rooms were very clean and made up each day. Always had fun little towel animals on the bed each evening with chocolates. The mini bar was never restocked, even after complaining to the front desk. The only way to get more bottled water was to call room service and have them bring some up. Shower was nice, but wish it had better water pressure, definitely has good HOT water! Almost too hot! Nice cabin on the navigation deck, very forward. Below the Spa, but no noise at all, very quiet. The only disadvantage is that you don't have light on the verandah due to navigation purposes, so no reading after dark... Read entire member review >>
A/C impossible to be turned off or at least reduce the vent power. Located right above our bed, we could feel the air blowing over our face the whole night long.
Some sailing nights with rough sea we were several times awakened by the sound of creaking panels. We called maintenance and the put some wooden plugs in the angle between the wall and the ceiling Read entire member review >>
We found our VF balcony cabin forward on the Upper Promenade level quite satisfactory although a bit cool at times.
We learned that VF balconies on Holland America have solid steel plating below the hand rail so you can't see shore from inside the room and we may upgrade on our next cruise to do so.
We had plenty of storage space even though we both brought formal clothes as well as many changes of everything else.
The king size bed was very nice and the room was well decorated. Read entire member review >>
