We immensely enjoyed the Rhine River cruise. The Viking Rolf Riverboat was exceptional, with many wonderful amenities. And the staff was even more exceptional. The dining selection was truly outstanding, with so many food options to select from … you will not go hungry. I am a clean freak, and the housekeeping was extraordinary. The daily scenic excursions, which by the way, were very organized by ...
To relax and have some time to ourselves. The river cruise on the Danube fit the bill perfectly. We needed to get away and see some of the world that was totally new and different. Living in Texas, if something is a couple of centuries old it’s considered history. It was a new experience to walk through true history so well preserved. The included tours were a good introduction to each area we ...
We had never been on an organized tour and cruise, although we had traveled extensively, we had never done a cruise or used tour guides. We were pleased with Viking's attention to detail. Everything was taken care of with people ensuring we made all the tours and transfers. We didn't want to go on an ocean cruise with thousands of people stuffed in a big floating hotel. With only about 200 ...
This cruise was top notch. There isn't one thing that we did not enjoy. The crew and staff were outstanding. They treated you with respect and remembered your names when they saw you. We arrived in Amsterdam in the late morning, met our friends on the deck and relaxed with some wine. There was a buffet lunch and then they offered a walking tour of Amsterdam which was interesting. After our tour we ...
We traveled from Amsterdam to Basel. When in Amsterdam, we stayed at the Okara hotel, which was five stars and close to local transportation. This was our second Viking River Cruise, and it was just as wonderful as our first. We made many friends on both cruises. . Sailing down the Rhine was beautiful and peaceful, watching the castles and vineyards go by.
The staff on board are very friendly ...
This was a great way to experience Switzerland, France, Germany and Netherlands. Viking food, service, included tours were wonderful. The special experiences like warm hot chocolate and blankets given while on deck watching castles go by created memories. Good food options and the best service. I met several other teachers and all passengers had a wonderful time during nightly events like strings ...
We have sailed Viking two other times, on the Rhine and Danube. We were looking for a third adventure and Belgium-Holland seemed like a great choice.
The scenery was disappointing as this area is very industrial. However, the ports, tour guides and Viking services were top notch.
My only slight disappointment was with some of the food. Some portions were huge and others tiny. The mid meal ...
We wanted to see Europe in a different way and by taking the Rhine River Cruise was the way to go. The food on the ship was amazing. We loved the staff, Mr.T, David, Stefan and Paula, these people made the trip extra special!!
The meal options were amazing, some nights a little hard to decide which options wanted to have to eat. The portions were perfect!
I would have liked to have more ...
This was my 4th Viking cruise, and my 3rd river cruise. My first cruise was the Rhine Getaway 2016-09-25 on the Viking Lofn. This time, I traveled with a friend who was going on her first cruise and wanted to do the Rhine Getaway so, figuring that I likely missed a lot the first time, I did this cruise again. And it was so much better than the first time! No doubt that was partly due to my ...
We never thought of ourselves as "cruise people". We had no desire to vacation on a giant ship with thousands of other guests, especially children, and all of the amenities that we would not take advantage of (pools, casinos, night clubs, amusement park rides, etc.). Nor to travel to the same overcrowded tourist locations with dozens of other ships and tour groups. We definitely didn't want to ...
