We have done our share of ocean cruises, but this was our first river cruise. We travelled with another couple, which really added to the overall fun of this break. We are relative novices to Europe, having last visited Italy before we had kids that are now in college. We booked the seven day Rhine cruise on the Viking HLIN, with a two day stay on the front end in Amsterdam, the cruise launch ...
This was our second Viking tour. We loved the first (on the Rhine) and this Danube cruise was also outstanding. Loved the cities we visited. Budapest was beautiful, Vienna was so impressive, and Regensberg had so much history. The Abbeys, cathedrals and churches, along with the stories of people who built them were fascinating and gorgeous. The excursions arranged by Viking were so ...
This was our Third time on Viking river cruise. The other two were 5 star trips. This time, Mother Nature played a large role in the disappointment we had. It should be said that the staff, Cruise director, Hotel Manager and the Captain were totally engaged in trying to provide a great experience in spite of the River issues. Meals were excellent Room attendants were top notch its just the ...
It was available during the time frame we were available and it was the right amount of time for us. Plus who would not want to see Vienna & Budapest and sail on the Danube Rive on a Viking Cruise.
Unfortunately it rained for three days. The river was too low to be able to go to the original destination then the river was too high to sail,
The crew were fabulous and constantly changing ...
This was the greatest experience! I just happened to be celebrating my 70th birthday onboard, and let me tell you, the staff went overboard to make sure my birthday was special! ALL of the staff and services were exceptional! Rene the Chef was totally awesome and made some of the most delicious meals. Edward, our Program Direction was absolutely the best!!! Everything was as close to perfect as ...
We chose the river cruise because we wanted to see inland countries. We made our own way to the ship as we came to Amsterdam early for a couple days on our own. When we got to the ship they immediately took charge of our luggage which was put into our room. From then on it was like the entire crew was waiting on only us as they strived to make sure every item was to our satisfaction. Our daily ...
This was our 4th river cruise with Viking, 6th with them overall. We are in our late 60s and were traveling with my 92 year old father and his wife. Our itinerary was disrupted slightly the last couple of days of the cruise due to high river levels, impassible bridges, and flooding in Passau. Viking handled everything perfectly, arranging buses to pick us up at two unscheduled stops along the ...
My wife and I LOVED our time with Viking. We extended before the Cities of Light Cruise by going to Warsaw. That was amazing to see and experience Poland, my wife's father's family immigrated from there after the American Civil War. The cruise was wonderful, we love how our hotel moves with us every day. We extended after the cruise as well for extra days in Paris to see sites we missed back ...
We chose the Rhine river cruise because it was on my bucket list to see castles! Every detail of the cruise was amazing – from the food, to the way guests were treated, and the great guides on the tours! We felt very taken care of and looked out for it. We enjoyed the intimate atmosphere of a smaller boat and the opportunity to meet new people at meal times. The preview of the following day was ...
This is the first time we ever been on any cruise and it was great! Our dedicated telephone support person did a great job of our arranging our complete trip, including our flight to Europe 2 weeks early, to visit family. When we arrived at our embarkation port, there was a Viking rep at the hotel who showed us the way for the short walk to the brand new ship! Everything about ship was great, ...
