The Paris and Loire extension was excellent, well timed, with comfortable and good hotels.
Surprisingly, enough time to do a mini city tour of Paris by taxi (no traffic, Parisians are on vacation in August) and easy restaurant reservations.
Busy at the Chateaus we visited, but our guides whisked us right by them.
Traffic much less than expected, only near Bordeaux somewhat ...
We took this cruise to celebrate my birthday and had a wonderful time! Viking picked us up at the airport and lunch was waiting for us when we arrived on board. Angela our cruise director was amazing and did a great job of keeping us informed on what activities were planned for each day. The breakfast, lunch and dinner were so good every day and I really liked how they did regional options to ...
We wanted to visit Switzerland for a long time. And my family history is from France.
Zurich was horrible I wouldn’t go there again. At least not at that time of year.
Also this isn’t a cruise where you are on the Ship a lot. There is a lot of busing. But the cruise is amazing, the staff even more so. In the future I’d prefer 11-20 day trips with no hotels and busing. But we will ...
The hotels in Paris and Zurich were very nice. No complaints with baggage handling or airport transfers.
Viking had a tour desk in both of the hotels, which was handy and useful for answering questions or concerns.
Communication with our tour director was very good. We were kept well-informed of all necessary information, pertinent times, tour instructions, etc.
I liked the fact that the ...
Everything related to Viking and the ship exceeded all expectations and was excellent.
We were very underwhelmed with the guided excursions we signed up and paid for pre trip. “Moderate” walking on those we found is up to 4 miles or more while trying to follow the guide in crowded streets and really not being able to see anything being talked about.
If we ever do it again we will not sign ...
We've looked at various Viking cruises for the past few years on-line and catalog. Having never travelled to the continent, we chose the Grand European Tour to experience as many cultures, ports, and excursions as possible. We enjoyed a 3 day pre-cruise extension in Prague that was fabulous. Our hotel was located just one block off the pedestrian walkways to the Old Town Square. The energy of ...
My wife and I are not into the party scene but wanted to do something special for our 25th anniversary. We decided a riverboat cruise was best for us and the Paris to Normandy itinerary fit our bucket list.
A delay in getting my passport renewed resulted in the Louvre being sold out, our first day optional tour. No problem though. When we arrived at the boat, having been met as we passed ...
Overall it was a fantastic trip. I would highly recommend this trip and Viking Cruise Lines. Very impressed with the design and utilization of the space in our cabin. Food and service was good. Although, there a norovirus outbreak and once that happened dining room service slowed down and could be disorganized at times.
All of the tour guides were informative and entertaining. The excursions ...
We chose this cruise because it was only a 7 night cruise, and never having cruised before we weren't sure how long we wanted to be trapped in a a small room! Boy, were we wrong! Seven nights wasn't long enough and the room size was perfect, as we spent very little time there. We did have a balcony, which we used several times as we sailed in August. The included excursions were as described ...
We really liked the itinerary. Had a rocky start when our luggage didn’t show at the Budapest airport. Spent the first 3 days of our trip with no luggage, but it really didn’t ruin anything. We lived in the couple of extra clothes we had packed in our carry on and our laundry was done free of charge until our luggage arrived. Meals were wonderful. We enjoyed eating most meals on the Aquavit ...
