We had a wonderful Rhine cruise from Switzerland to Amsterdam. There were interesting tours and sightseeing everyday. The top three tour highlights: The medeival city of Colmar, the cathedral in Cologne, and Strasbourg. The afternoon of crusing down the Rhine and seeing all the castles was also wonderful.
The ship was modern and clean, and the service from the crew was all outstanding. ...
Great cruise from start to finish. We had no problems with low water as we were cruising the last week of September. Viking included an excursion for each port. The included excursions were great usually a walking tour of the town which included the church then there was time to browse on your own.. I also purchased some optional tours. Our favorites were the optional food tour in Strasburg and ...
Past experience with Viking river cruises led me to do still another one. More to come for sure. Always great food and fantastic shore excursions. Although one of the waterways/rivers was a little low for passage, the ship was able to do a detour and the result was a choice of other shore excursions or just stay on the ship. On board credit was issued for us that had lunch at local facilities. ...
We were traveling to Berlin for a wedding and, since we would already be in Berlin, we decided to add a river cruise for after the wedding. After looking at the different offerings, we found this Viking cruise to fit very nicely with our schedule. In fact, we added 2 days on the front end to see more of Berlin before embarking on the Astrid. Viking staff were very accommodating and helpful in ...
We had a cruise cancelled at the beginning of the pandemic so we used the credit to take this longer cruise. Other than the awful Viking Air service, the cruise itself, especially the crew, was outstanding. The most enjoyable parts were extra shore excursions that were in very small groups, especially the "vigorous" hikes. However, I wouldn't call any of the hikes vigorous (and I'm 68 though I do ...
This cruise was intended to be our 40 th anniversary but becasue of covid was delayed two years. as usual with viking we had no trouble getting off the plane and to the ship. our ship was docked about four blocks from the eiffel tower. we were able to walk there after dinner on the day we arrived. the tours on the ship were well paced without all of the early wake ups that can sometimes be a ...
Viking is first class all the way. Best cruise we have ever been on. Very organized and professionally managed. Great food and excursions. The included tours were fantastic. Absolutely loved Vienna Austria and learned so much. We chose this cruise because it included the passion play at Oberammergau Germany on the front end of the cruise. Regensburg was a great city to visit. Biking in ...
We did the Grand European Tour from Amsterdam to Budapest. This is our fifth Viking cruise first one on the long ships. The Grand European cruise was our first Viking cruise 12 years ago (Budapest to Amsterdam) and we always wanted to do it again. Prior to our trip we were concerned with the water level situation in Europe but recent rain eliminated all issues and we never had to switch ships. ...
