Review for a Europe - Eastern Mediterranean Cruise on Star Pride

We cruise 3 to 4 times a year on 8 or 9 different cruise lines. We often choose Wind Star for several reasons, mostly because the average passenger count is around 150 to 200 persons. No lines, off and on in ports in minutes rather than long lines, superb dining and all suite cabins with walk in closets and double sinks. The beauty of small ship sailing is visiting ports larger ships cannot, ...

Amazing Cruise Experience

This was our first cruise (ever), and it did not disappoint. We were hesitant to take any cruise because the idea of joining thousands of people on a ship did not appeal to us. When we ran across the smaller Windstar Star Pride online and its itinerary (Greece/Italy), we decided to take the chance. The ship has been beautifully redone to accommodate more passengers (up to 312). We were impressed ...

Wonderful Experience on the Star Pride

We chose this cruise because of the intimacy of the ship. We might have sacrificed all of the bells and whistle of a larger ship, but being on a smaller ship was well worth it. Embarkation was done in a very smooth and orderly fashion and we were in our cabin within 15 minutes of boarding the ship. After ready some of the previous reviews, I was nervous about the age of the ship and it's ...

Choose the Star Pride predominately for the race and then the wonderful different ports of call. Food was some of the best cruise food ever and the staff were wonderful. The rooms are a good size, but don't bother with the balcony upgrade. The size of the ship makes it easy to get around without needing a map. If you get the opportunity check out the bridge when it is open as the crew is very ...

Bait and switch!!!! The publish destinations are as follows, 1. Grenada 2.Pigeon Island 3. Bequia 4.Guadeloupe 5. St Martin THAT IS NOT WHERE WE WENT!!! Where we went was: 1. No Grenada, they instead took us to Anse Mitaln Martinque. All I can say is we got off the boat at their 'so called beach' and it was a few feet wide, not pretty sand, and the locals looked like they ...

False Expectations

I chose this cruise because of their advertising that said they were a luxury cruise line. This is completely false. While the ports their smaller ship was able to visit were magnificent, for the most part, we found the majority of the staff to be pompous and arragont, the spa services to be far below standards, and the food to be nothing better than a mediocre restaurant buffet. We received a ...

Better weather, fewer crowds than summer

Europe is incredibly hot and crowded in the summer, although still crowded for this trip. Did notice a drop in service level compared to prior Windstar cruises. Looks like they are pinching pennies in certain areas. Definitely less focus on customer service from corporate side. Nice to travel with smaller groups, but don't fall for "travel in private yacht style". Excursions are very pricey ...

Avoid Star Pride!

We spent really good money on this cruise and were sold from the sleek brochures on the Star Pride. It was hailed as "the newest addition" when it is anything but that. It's an old ship that they pulled from the shipyard and then photo-shopped their pics to put in their brochure. Save your money and go on a real luxury and sleek cruise. This is a bad bill of goods! We did the Istanbul to ...

Exceeded our expectations

We weren't sure we would really like a cruise holiday and chose Windstar because we liked the idea of a smaller ship that was more casual and geared to a younger more active clientele. The itinerary which included mainly stops in Croatia was another thing that appealed to us. The yacht is beautiful and well kept and the cabins are a lot larger than we expected. The entire crew were ...

We wanted a small, luxury ship experience. Far exceeded our expectations. Will only cruise small luxury ships in future and we will definitely choose Windstar Cruises. Your every need is anticipated by their exceptional and professional crew. You are addressed by your name every time you meet them. We renewed our wedding vows onboard and I had them plan every detail. The Guest ...
