We chose this cruise because the itinerary covered ports which we hadn't been to, and it offered a handsome discount because our Antarctic cruise had been cancelled. Also, we were going to be in the area for a family occasion later in the month. The other prior ultra luxury cruise we'd been on was on the Regent Explorer, which won hands down.

We tried to book a cruise around 6 weeks out and managed to reserve guaranteed suite but flights were not available to book. This was supposedly linked to the move of embarkation from Venice to Ravenna. (didn’t Venice ban cruise ships from 1st August 2021? Why was this a surprise 9 months later?) We were a bit nervous when we learned that our 18 night cruise on the Quest was the first sailing since covid shutdown. However, Seabourn staff did a wonderful job and most things seemed "back to normal". We sailed from Barcelona to Ravenna (a port 2 hour included bus ride from Venice) as large ships can no longer dock in Venice.
