Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Independence of the Seas

We use transatlantic cruising as we spend half off the year in Florida and the other half in the UK. The check-in at Southampton went very smoothly so onwards up to the schooner bar. We met our friends who we actually met over 3 years ago on this very same ship. We had a ocean view room but was very noisy and I did ask to be moved, however the ship was full and they did finally move us ...

We enjoy transatlantic cruises . This is the fourth with Independence . The ship is definitely old fashioned now. Food was nowhere near as good as last year. We could eat in Chops Grille for breakfast but often decided to go to the Windjammer where the food was hot. Having paid the premium through RCL for a suite we enjoyed the space in the cabin and on the balcony. Our cabin steward was ...

We took the same cruise last year and had no complains but this year there are problems. We have a Junior Suite, every day the toilet is blocked, took a week for them to admit that the problem is in a whole block of cabins from 2 deck to 10 deck. I was accused of using too much toilet paper! The balcony rail is in a dreadful state. The carpets on the stairways are threadbare. The ship is in ...

We are a married couple from Scandinavia, who previously have been on a large number of cruises. We have sailed, both on many Transatlantic cruises, and on other destinations with several different Cruise Lines. Pre-cruise: We had booked in advance a private shuttle from our arrival airport in London, to our hotel in Southampton. As several times before, we had reserved a room at the 4* ...

Atlantic Millpond

Our first transatlantic cruise proved to be a runaway success - the sea was as calm as a millpond all the way across the Atlantic, through the Caribbean and through to Port Lauderdale. In typical RCCL fashion we were booked in and aboard within 20 minutes from leaving the car. Our first impressions of the Independence were of how clean everything appeared to be but on closer inspection, how ...

Lovely Ship, Excellent Crew; Just Not for Us

The cruise was a retirement gift to ourselves , lovely ship starting to look a little bit tired but spotlessly clean and a credit to Royal Caribbean. Our waiter was amazing , after day 1 he remembers our names our drinks and our preferences. I know it’s his job but you really appreciate the effort both he and his assistant made . The food in the main restaurant was absolutely first class , I,m a ...

This transatlantic cruise was very good. WE had smooth seas and wonderful weather. The air temperature was in the 70's and 80's The food in the dinning room was excellent. All of the ship's crew were wonderful. Providing wonderful service and always willing to help. Our cabin steward, dinning staff and entertainment was fabulous. There were a few negative items. First, we could not get ...

I like RCI but not happy with room service charge of $8.00 could see the charge if late in evening even though I am not a room service person I thought the charge was a little heavy. We were only informed of one port offering free transportation to town, and were heading back to the ship as my roommate could not walk the distance to town when we saw a bus offering free transportation to town, if ...

My wife and I wanted to visit Barcelona again as we did not spend as much time the last time we were in Spain in the spring of 2015. The Transatlantic Cruise seemed just what we wanted to do as we had heard great reviews about westbound Transatlantic Cruises and Royal Caribbean did not disappoint us. The staff was great and I would recommend a cruise like we took to anyone interested in a ...

We chose the Freedom Transatlantic to be with great people who we have traveled with in the past years! The ship was in good shape. The cabin was fine and our room steward took good care of us. The food was ho-hum and we felt the quality of the food was not what we expected. The Cruise Director and Activities Manager and their staff were excellent. The entertainment was good......but, we ...
