We chose this cruise to take my father-in-law's widow because it was her #1 bucket list item. The destinations fit her dream, Key West, Cozumel, Belize and Costa Maya. My husband and I have been on other cruises with Norwegian and Carnival, this was our first Royal Caribbean. There were so many things that did not live up to expectations like something as simple as getting on board, hectic. ...

Nice small ship cruising

This ship is great for the small ship cruiser. The Captain is very knowledgeable and is highly visible. The crew is welcoming and friendly. The inside cabins are a little tight, particularly if on deck 7 facing sideways. The food in the windjammer is the best of any ship we have been on. Dining room is okay, but same old menu. The ship is very well maintained. The diamond lounge area is ...

I chose this cruise because I hadn't been to the western Caribbean in several years and was travelling with a friend who had never been there. Embarkation and disembarkation were quick and smooth. Royal cancelled our booking after it had been paid in full and in a scramble to get rebooked we ended up in a smaller cabin on deck 3 instead of 8. Most staff were quite good. Room attendants, ...

I booked the cruise through Expedia and got a good deal. The boat was old. The people were old. I honestly felt like it was a giant convalescent home. It was like the type of crowd that you see in a bad casino. The weather on the trip was bad. Our shore excursion was cancelled. I spent a lot of time in my stateroom since I do not drink; watching the awful choice of TV channels that re-run their ...

We chose this cruise because it was a good value and it was only one hour from home so very easy to take. It was certainly worth the $$ but not a luxury cruise or an unusual itinerary. We had been to all of the islands many times. Our weather was not very cooperative so there were many shipboard activities added for those cooler, windy days in port. It was just as expected, good food, good ...

Great Expectations

I chose the cruise because I had never embarked from Tampa Port. Unfortunately, there were fog issues and we were delayed in our departure and daylight was limited. I wish I would have asked for a seat by the window in the dining room but it was an after thought. The food in the dining room was very acceptable and I didn't feel a need to go to any of the Specialty restaurants. The ...

We drove to the port and parked with Parking Doctors for $42 for 4 days. The shuttle provided by the company took us to port, which was 2 minutes away. We arrived to the port around 1pm, the lines were long, even for the priority boarding section, but they were moving faster than we have expected, maybe took 30 mins. Buffet wasn't crowded at all on the embarkation day; that was a pleasant ...

This was my first Royal Caribbean cruise, as previous were Carnival. The ship was very nicely laid out, but elevators at all times took forever for some reason. The cabins were very small compared to other ships I've been on. It definitely needs updating. The bathroom and especially the shower are very tiny. The smell of smoke was all over the ship. Smoking areas included the casino but you can ...

THE BRILLIANCE REMINDED US WHY WE LIKE CRUISING SO MUCH

Review for a Caribbean - Western Cruise on Brilliance of the Seas

We sailed on the Brilliance of the Seas in January, 2018 from Tampa to Cozumel. Key West was supposed to be one of the stops, but, according to Royal Caribbean (“RCL”), the hurricane had done enough damage to Key West to render stopping there undesirable if not impossible. It didn’t matter that we missed Key West; our cruise reminded us of why we like cruising so much. We have cruised in ...
