We decided to take our adult children and our son's family on an Alaskan cruise to celebrate our 35th anniversary and a milestone birthday for my wife. Because our son has an almost 4 year old daughter, we decided on the Quantum because of the activities and kids program.
The first disappointment came with removing Skagway and replacing it with Icy Point. When our cabins were assigned, we ...
This was our 2nd cruise. Our 1st one was a Disney cruise, that put this cruise to shame. The beds were hard the maid picked up anything and everything that was on the floor onto the kids bed/couch. Not very good cleaning service. Plus my bling belt went missing and I know it was in my room because I didn’t change my clothes anywhere else aside from my room. When I went to report it they had ...
Alaska is Alaska, its stunning, even on sea days but RCs constant nickel and diming its starting to show.
Ship very modern and clean, staff were amazing.
Food continues to decline both in quality and variety.
Skip the Windjammer, the same meals served day after day, cruise after cruise.
New menus in MDR were ok but certainly less choice, food was warm but lacking in taste.
Very odd ...
This was our 2nd time cruising RC and our first cruise to Alaska. We booked a little last minute after other summer vacation plans fell through. First, the pros:
The ship is beautiful! We absolutely loved the public spaces and there seemed to be ample seating for the different shows and activities. My two teenagers loved the teen activities and participated in most of them. The 3 pools were ...
I always choose Cruising as a way of unwinding and letting someone else take care of me for a week.
Royal Caribbean never disappoints they are always ready to take care of your every need from an extra pillow to a gourmet meal. Ovation was no exception. The ship is majestic! The food and service sublime.
Start off with coffee and a feast for breakfast at the Windjammer. If you ...
RCL-Ovations of the Seas
July 28, 2023
My first cruise since the Covid Pandemic changed the world.
The hard part how do I sum up an outstanding couple of weeks into a short review? I do not know, but here goes.
I have traveled by cruise ship several times over the years and I must say that The Ovations of the Seas was not a disappointment, this ship is huge (I believe my husband said ...
Start with the Pros:
Room attendants were great. If they had not said service was only once a day we would have not known.
Now the cons:
* Main dining - my time dining; 1st half of the trip we had bad service due too the servers having several large groups hogging all their attention. We asked for another table and got better service.
* Chicken briani was horrible. The Naan was a ...
The first problem we had started before we got on the ship. Come to find out, if you don't choose your balcony, but let them do it, you will probably get a view of a lifeboat. That was not mentioned in the booking process. NEXT up, they deleted Skagway from the itinerary long long before we signed up, but when we booked it was still listed - when they already knew that was not going to be ...
This was a bucket list cruise for us. We went with a group of 17 family members.
1st- the ship itself was beautiful, clean, & easy to navigate.
2nd- 3-6 months out from the sail date, most excursions were completely book.
3rd- the staff for the most part was nice, however most were new to working on cruise ships and had a very difficult time being able to understand what we were ...
Travelled with family to Alaska on RC. This was our first time cruising. We had a balcony which was great for viewing the scenery & wildlife. We had a soft drinks package & bought a few cocktails & some wine, which worked well for us. Paid for gratuities in advance, so we did not need to worry about tipping at the end.
Enjoyed the photographer on board & purchased a package.
The food was ...
