This is our fourth trip on the Indy and first since the new refit of 2018. It was also our first cruise ship we traveled on back in 2008. It is our favourite ship along with the Navigator and Splendor (now gone to TUI).
When I planned this holiday for my wife's birthday I chose a Southampton cruiise to avoid flights as Brexit was blowing up at the time of booking and I did not want to do ...
This review covers the 7 night Northern Europe sailing on May 18th from Southampton. This is our 9th Royal Caribbean cruise and first on the Independence.
Accommodation:
Inside cabin, 9487. This cabin was off the main corridor so noise was never an issue. It’s a nice quiet location and close to Windjammer and Adventure Ocean. The room was setup as a double and a Pullman bed (bed from ...
I can see why Caribbean cruises are so popular now that we’ve sailed in north/west Europe. Mid May, and sea days were cold, windy and often foggy. Only people brave enough to go out were mostly those wearing parkas and the smokers. We did think there were too many smoking areas.
Our first Indy of the Seas sailing. Two seniors.
Even with everyone mostly inside, the shop did not seem over ...
We picked Independence of the Seas out of Southampton for our first European Cruise. Embarkation with the new expedited boarding using the new app was a breeze and we were on the ship in less than 15 minutes.
Junior Suite #7712. Room was ready at 1 and lunch was ready in the Windjammer. The cruise itself was smooth as the seas were flat. Fog in the North Sea didn't cause any issues. ...
I chose this cruise because of the ports: departing from Copenhagen, then Stockholm, Tallin, st Petersburg, Helsinki, back to Copenhagen.
Overall - Amazing location, very friendly cruise staff, great service and food, we were surprised by how swift embarkation at ports were. Just check in was a little long.
We arrived CPH on day of embarkation at 7am. There was already cruise staff holding a ...
Have never traveled to this area before and always wanted to go to Russia with my family.
The staff was superb and their diversity made it a lot of fun learning about all the different countries. Dining was awesome. Food and service at the Chops Grill was on par with Ruth Chris - excellent.
Entertainment was excellent. The shows varied and the singing and dancing was the highest quality. ...
We love to travel on Royal Caribbean and made that decision based on the quality of the rooms, crew, on board amenities, and the food. Now, we know that even on the same cruise lines, the food varies from ship to ship and chef to chef. But this is our second voyage on Serenade of the Seas and the food on both voyages was the best of my dozen plus voyages on 4 cruise lines.
Visitiging ...
Chose this cruise for its ports.
Entertainment was good the first 10 days, but how many times can you listen to an island band play same songs night after night while making up words. Also headliner shows were too loud and not very good. One night was cruise director singing songs from early 1900, and a lot of people got up and left'
Food was good, except for spare ribs in MDR. Couldn't ...
We chose this cruise because of the itinerary. The centrum is the common area where they have nightly entertainment. Seating is limited on the 4th floor. People hang over the balconies of higher floors to take part.
On the 3rd day of the cruise, we were informed that a small percentage of guests had Norovirus. So no touching food in the Windjammer and extensive sanitizing around the ship. ...
The locations is why we picked this cruise. There was alot we liked and some we did not. The ship is old and worn It is small.. We had a Junior Suite with a balcony. Embarkation and disembarkation went very well. We bought deluxe dining and beverage packages. We did not do any excursions we explored on our own. That was wonderful. We walked allover and loved it. We visited Mykonos, ...
