Expectations only partly met...

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Radiance of the Seas

Ship The Radiance of the Seas is one of the older ships of the Royal Carribean fleet. The condition was good, but the equipment definitely did not meet the standards expected today. Embarking or disembarking worked smoothly. However, we had expected a better service as guests of the suites. Cabin We had booked an Owner Suite. It was very spacious with space. The balcony was a bit small. ...

Awesome cruise for first trip to Alaska

Embarkation wasn’t bad. Wife had wheel chair assistance. The problem we ran into was that there wasn’t a dedicated lane for wheel chairs to board the ship so the limited number of pushers they had got stuck in long lines on the gangway. They need to have dedicated ramp for handicap. The ship is beautiful. Loved the solarium the best. Seeing alaska scenery from pool / jacuzzi was nice. The ...

To put it mildly.....We really need a vacation after this Cruise! We ~hesitantly booked this Alaskan Glacier cruise with 7 other family members from around the US. This was to be a true "Bucket-List Cruise". There were 3 Seniors with our party..one of them a "Diamond RC" member. We aren't typically cruise people, but we wanted to participate with this one for the aging members of the family. ...

We did Alaska early June. I think you'd do better to do a combo land /sea tour if you really want to feel like you were in Alaska. Here is a quick review; I loved the piano bar, service great and piano guy was great! The ship overall is like a small city, but didn't feel too crowded. Pools are a waste in Alaska, but Solarium was nice for adults only. We did I-fly, they were organized but ...

Amazing Ship with some shortcomings

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Ovation of the Seas

The Ovation of the Seas is an amazing ship, and was almost perfect for a cruise to Alaska. I'd say you need to enjoy a "big" ship experience to get the most out of cruising on Ovation. This is most definitely a great ship for a multi-generational group; it has something for everyone. Most of the time I was able to find a quiet place or an activity depending on my mood. We didn't travel with ...

This cruise line and dates were chosen were based on starting/ending port, and season. First, let me start by saying that after 23 cruises, we FINALLY made it to Alaska. Just never found the right time, price, port, ship; well, just a combination of things. Yes, an Alaskan cruise is everything we were told it would be. Great sights, wildlife, hiking, glaciers, whales, educational, ...

Very nice cruise, but expectations may have been too high

The Ship We chose the Ovation for our 30th wedding anniversary cruise to Alaska, partly due to our past experience with RCCI and also because the ship seemed like a good fit for the unpredictable Alaska weather (which is often rainy, we understand), given features like the Solarium. Overall, we really enjoyed this ship and most of the activities on board. We took advantage of the bumper cars, ...

We sailed on Ovation of the Seas out of Seattle, Washington in May of 2019 and visited the ports of Juneau and Skagway, Alaska and Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. FLIGHT: Okay, I had to fly this time instead of just driving or taking the train. So, I’ll be up front, I don’t like flying because all of the checks make it inconvenient. Understandably so, but still not a relaxing part of ...

More transportation, less cruise

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Radiance of the Seas

We chose this cruise because it was a one way inside passage which meant more time in each port. This was important because the ship doesn't have much to offer in terms of entertainment. We are east coast (4 hours difference) and they frequently wouldn't start activities/entertainment until 10pm (2 am east coast time). When we did go, the shows were nowhere near the quality of the large Caribbean ...
