Onboard

Cruise & Maritime Voyages prides itself on offering entertainment and enrichment programmes that are created specifically for a more mature British cruise passenger. Entertainment doesn't feature flashy fare that you find on the today's new ships -- but you will find revues, quizzes, and traditional shows to keep you amused.

Onboard enrichment comes in the form of guest speakers such as destination experts, maritime historians and a retired New Scotland Yard detective.

Onboard currencies for both ships is Sterling.

About Cruise & Maritime Voyages

Cruise & Maritime Voyages, a two-ship, British-based cruise line, launched in January 2010. The cruise line offers cruises that appeal to more mature travelers, emphasizing interesting and varied itineraries that depart from U.K. homeports. Onboard, entertainment focuses on a solid enrichment program and sedate evening fare.

Cruise & Maritime Voyages Fleet

Cruise & Maritime Voyages offers year-round ex-U.K. itineraries (a total of 63 sailings for 2011) on two vintage ships:

Cruise ship buffs will be familiar with the 22,000-ton, 820-passenger Marco Polo, which was built in 1965. Marco Polo -- which has previously sailed for Orient Lines -- began operating for Cruise & Maritime Voyages in January 2010. Marco Polo is the line's adults-only vessel, and the ship also does a decent job of catering to the single traveller. It has 12 single cabins (two inside and 10 oceanview cabins).

The second vessel is the 17,000-ton, 800-passenger Ocean Countess, which started life as the Cunard Countess back in 1975 and joined the Cruise & Maritime fleet in April 2010. Prior to its Cruise & Maritime Voyages debut in 2010, Ocean Countess underwent a £3 million refurbishment and upgrade programme. This included re- naming the public lounges, some upgrading of cabin accommodation with new furnishings and flat-screen televisions. All deck areas have been refreshed and public rooms, including the dining room, have been updated.

Fellow Passengers

Cruises aboard Cruise & Maritime Voyages' Marco Polo and Ocean Countess are primarily geared to British travelers.
