Travel Dynamics International
Onboard Travel Dynamics manages to create an ambience that's both relaxed and sophisticated. Five-course dinners and complimentary regional wines are served each evening at small open seating tables. Casual alfresco buffet breakfasts and lunches promote an easy camaraderie among guests. The evening entertainment leaves everyone star struck, literally. In addition to night sky sessions, there are lectures and in-cabin movies. Most passengers participate in daily shore excursions, accompanied by knowledgeable local guides. The fast paced touring leaves little time for independent exploration. So those interested in sampling the local cuisine or power shopping may need to pass on a scheduled excursion. For the captains' welcome and farewell dinners, a dress or jacket and tie work best. For the rest of the cruise, dress is casual and comfortable. About Travel Dynamics International Travel Dynamics International operates educational programs aboard a pair of luxurious, yacht-like ships. The New York-based company was founded 37 years ago (as Classical Cruises) around the premise of offering customized voyages to off-the-beaten-path destinations of historic and cultural importance. Adding to the uniqueness of the sailings are resident lecturers and hand-picked local guides, who share their expertise and enthusiasm. Unlike competitors like Academic Arrangements Abroad and Gohagan & Company, Travel Dynamics focuses exclusively on cruise travel and operates its own small fleet.Travel Dynamics International Fleet The newest member of the Travel Dynamics fleet is the all-suite Corinthian II, built in 1992 for defunct Renaissance Cruises. The recently refurbished ship features spacious and luxurious outside facing suites with handsome rosewood paneling and comfortable sitting areas. Several upper deck suites sport private balconies. Attractive public rooms include a library with two computer terminals and e-mail access, a lounge for talks and briefings, small gym, beauty salon and whirlpool. Corinthian II is also ice-strengthened for Antarctic voyages. With just 30 passengers and 18 crew members, Callisto offers a true private yacht experience. Antiques and art grace the ship's public rooms, which include an inviting library and lounge. Staterooms feature large windows and portholes, telephones, and TV/VCR/DVD. A swimming platform at the yacht's stern lets guests enjoy islets, beaches and coves. Fellow Passengers Expect an older, well-educated and well-heeled crowd. Many passengers are affiliated with nonprofit organizations like museum groups or university associations. Due to the educational focus of onboard activities and shore excursions, Travel Dynamics' cruises are suited to adults with a strong intellectual interest in the itineraries. The exception is the summer, when special family cruises to the Mediterranean attract younger travelers.
